MILTON - Frank J. Liberatore of Milton, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, in his home. He was 75.
Mr. Liberatore was born in 1922, in LaBelle, Pa., the son of the late Fred Liberatore and Maria Lucantonio.
He had a Masters degree in Physics and was involved in the development of the Hubbel Telescope. He also helped set up many other observatories.
Mr. Liberatore worked at Goddard Space Center in Greenbelt, Md. as an electrical engineer for 25 years, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church, Rt. 1 and Five Points; a member of Cape Henlopen Elks Club; a member of St. Vincent DePaul's Society, and a volunteer at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary E. Liberatore of Milton; one son, Fred Anthony Liberatore of Milton; three daughters, Carolyn Sue Lavine of Rochester, N.Y., Ann Louise Liberatore of Vienna, Va. and Mary Catherine Liberatore of Virginia Beach, Va.; two sisters, Josephine Gyke of Pittsburgh, Pa. and Mary Frances Sawchenko of Gaithersburg, Md., and five grandchildren.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Jude's Catholic Church, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Father Phillip Sheekey will officiate.
Burial will be private.
Dorothy E. McCormick, 53
FENWICK ISLAND - Dorothy E. McCormick of Fenwick Island, died of cancer Tuesday, April 28, 1998, in her home. She was 53.
Mrs. McCormick was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Dorothy Witts and the Late John Witts.
She was co-owner of Denney Electric Supply Company of Millsboro.
Mrs. McCormick was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church of Ocean City, Md.
She was an avid miniature doll house collector and enthusiast.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Dennis M. McCormick; two sons, John McCormick and Mark McCormick, and a daughter-in-law, Karen, all of Fenwick Island; a grandson, Avery; her mother, Dorothy Witts of Villas, N.J.; a sister, Patti Witts of Ebenberg, Pa.; a brother, Tom Witts of Sewell, N.J.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 100th Coastal Hwy., Ocean City, Md., where friends may call one half hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in St. Peter and St. Paul Cemetery, Broomall, Pa.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 DuPont Hwy., Georgetown, DE 19947.

Amelia McFadden, 94
GEORGETOWN - Amelia McFadden of Georgetown, formerly of Massena, N.Y., died of cardiac arrest Monday, April 27, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 94.
Mrs. McFadden was a homemaker.
She was a member of Hadassa, Pythian Sisters.
Mrs. McFadden was a volunteer at Massena Memorial Hospital, Massena.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren McFadden in 1977.
She is survived by a son, with whom she lived, Max McFadden; a daughter, Martha Faucher of West Palm Beach, Fla.; one sister; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be at 1 p.m. today at the Chapel of Short Funeral Services, Inc., 609 E. Market St., Georgetown.
Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Glendale, N.Y., where her husband was buried.
Iris C. Powell, 87
REHOBOTH BEACH - Iris C. Powell of Rehoboth Beach, formerly of Garrett Park, Md., died of heart failure Tuesday, April 28, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center. She was 87.
Mrs. Powell was born in Washington, D.C.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Powell was a member of All Saint's Episcopal Church, Rehoboth Beach.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel T. Powell Jr. in 1992.
She is survived by two sons, Timothy H. Powell of Tampa, Fla. and Samuel T. Powell III of Crofton, Md.; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m. Friday at All Saint's Episcopal Church, 20 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach, where the Rev. James Manion will officiate.
Burial will be private.
Robert William Jack II, 89
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Robert William Jack III of Winston-Salem, died Thursday, April 23, 1998, in the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was 89.
Mr. Jack was born in 1908, in Stamford, Conn. He spent his early years in Indiana. Mr. Jack lived in Wilmington until 1973.
He retired from the Wilmington Medical Center in 1973, and moved to Millsboro. He moved to Independence Village in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Jack was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps, 9th Air Force.
He was the first executive director of the Delaware Division, American Cancer Society from 1953-1963.
Mr. Jack was a 32nd degree Mason, and he celebrated 50 years of service in Freemasonry on March 14, 1996. He was a life member of Eureka-DuPont Lodge No. 23-29 in Wilmington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Wood Jack in 1986.
He is survived by two children, Bonnie Ruth Jack of Winston-Salem and Robert W. Jack III and wife Lorie of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two granddaughters, Heather L. Raudenbush of Winston-Salem and Amy C. Raudenbush and husband, William Almy of Somerville, Mass.; two first-cousins, Jack Kendall of Wilmington and Paul Kendall of Green Valley, Ariz.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 25, 1998, at the Independence Village in Winston-Salem.
Mr. Jack was cremated and his remains were buried next to his wife in All Souls Cemetery, St. George's Chapel, Angola.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of contributions to Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, N.C. 27103 or the American Cancer Society.

Evangelist Mary Elizabeth Purnell, 66
SEAFORD - Evangelist Mary Elizabeth Purnell of Seaford, died in her home of cancer, Tuesday, April 28, 1998. She was 66.
Mrs. Purnell was born in Bridgeville, the daughter of Lillie Purnell of Bridgeville and the late Howard Cannon.
She was a member of Victory Temple Church in Bridgeville, where she served as a mother of the church, associate minister, and member of the board of directors.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Linwood Purnell Sr. in 1994.
She is survived by five sons, Pastor David L. Purnell Jr. of Bridgeville, Thomas E. Purnell of New Castle, Jeffery E. Purnell of Newark, Paul D. Purnell of New Castle, and Minister Michael A. Purnell Sr. of Bear; four daughters, Pauline D. Wright and Betty J. Harmon, both of Seaford, Matilda L. Ross and Thelma E. Jones, both of Bridgeville; one stepdaughter, Gladys Quail of Greenwood; four brothers, Howard Smack of Concord, Gregory Cannon of Millsboro, and Hollis Smack and Michael Cannon, both of Bridgeville; one sister, Martha Massey and her husband, David Massey , both of Bridgeville; one sister-in-law, Gladys and Sherman Catchlings of Dover; father-in-law, Clarence DeShields of West Chester, Pa.; 51 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and also several great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Refuge Temple Revival Center on Front Street in Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Burial will be in Mount Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery, Middleford.

REHOBOTH BEACH - Omar H.W. Quillen of Rehoboth Beach, died of heart failure Wednesday, April 29, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 84.
Mr. Quillen was a retired carpenter, and he was employed for many years with D.F. Quillen & Sons Construction Co. of Rehoboth.
He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, Rehoboth Beach.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pearle, Mitchell Quillen, in 1995.
He is survived by a son, Omar H.W. Quillen Jr. of King George, Va., and two daughters, Olive Ward of Lewes, and Harriett Magee of Rehoboth Beach; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Rd.

REHOBOTH BEACH - Elizabeth J. Ware of Rehoboth Beach, died of heart failure Friday April 24, 1998, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 80.
Mrs. Ware was born in 1917, in Ashville, Fla.
She was a domestic worker.
Mrs. Ware was a member of the West Rehoboth Jesus Is Church, Hebron Road, Rehoboth Beach, where she served as mother of the church.
She is survived by her husband, Willie Jones; a daughter, Elizabeth Waples, a son Augustus J. Waples, Sr. of Rehoboth; seven grandchildren, 22-great grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at West Rehoboth Jesus Is Church, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, Lewes.
Carl W. Stratton Sr., 66
FREDERICA - Carl W. Stratton of Frederica, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 66.
Mr. Stratton was born in Haddonfield, N.J., the son of Evelyn and the late Lester Stratton.
He was a truck driver for Wilson Beverage and NKS Distributors for many years. After retiring in 1992, he worked on lawn mowers.
Mr. Stratton was a member of the Milford Elks Lodge.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his devoted companion, Patricia Northrop; a daughter, Carla J. Lynch of Milford; four sons, John E. Stratton of Milford, Robert L. Stratton of Lewes, William J. Stratton, also of Milford, and Carl W. Stratton, Jr. of Cheswold; two sisters, Peggy Cooper of Absecon, N.J., and Mildred Di Matteo of Haddonfield; a brother, Robert Stratton of Camden .NJ.; 16 grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chapel Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday.
Burial will follow the service in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Luetta H. Gibbs, 78
SEAFORD - Luetta H. Gibbs of Seaford, died Tuesday, April 28, 1998, at Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 78.
Mrs. Gibbs was born 1920, in Mesic, N.C, daughter of the late Annie G. Henderson and Alexander Henderson.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be 10:30 a.m. in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear.
