31 Teachers From England Visit Dela.
Thirty-one teachers from England are observing Delaware schools in an exchange program organized by the State Department of Public Instruction.
Donald R. Knouse, state supervisor of social studies, said the teachers will visit schools to address students until the Easter recess. They will later tour state agencies and historical points in Delaware and visit Washington, D.C., before they leave the country April 18.
The teachers, nearly all from Kent County, England, are traveling at their own expense, with lodging provided by Delaware teachers. Their Delaware counterparts in the exchange will visit English schools late in June.
The program grew out of an exchange of English and Delaware students organized by Mr. Knouse last year in honor of the Bicentennial.
Eight visiting teachers are staying in the Dover area: David Hooper, Margaret Turner, Patricia Compson, Joyce Lane, Kathleen Hollingsworth, Mrs. Michael Davies, Susan Brown, and June Bennett.
Observing schools in the Wilmington area are Christopher and Marion Keeble, Jill and Robert Platt, Lain Parkinson, Leonard Hollingsworth, Patricia Read, Anne Logie, Pauline Town, and Allen Kay.
Visiting the Newark area are Christine Pinnock, Norman Bore, Lawrence Towson, and Brian Sherman.
Southern New Castle County will receive four visitors: Margaret Hall, Sue Newling, Robert Millam, I C S Grant, and Gwendolyn Lacey.
Touring Sussex County are Kathleen Gray, Gilliam Hunt, J. Leaky, and Trevin Shaw.
