FISHERMEN HAVE POOR SEASON
Sturgeon fishing has closed for the season. The last of the boats that were out for sturgeon ceased last week. Joseph Anderson, Delaware City buyer and roe packer, stated that the pack of caviar this year was but half of the normal pack. This fact, in addition to the price being much lower than usual, caused the fishermen to have a poor season. This was general for both the shad and the sturgeon fishermen along the Delaware River and Bay during the season just passed.
STOLE 136 SPRING CHICKENS
Thieves visited the farm of Charles J. Mullen last week and after pulling the staple of the hen house door, carried away 136 fine young chickens, weighing about three pounds each. The Mullen family were all at home when the robbery occurred, but the thieves worked so quietly that their presence was not detected.
