Tribbitt Receives U.S. Appointment
Newspapers learned Monday that President Carter has appointed former Gov. Sherman W. Tibbitt to the $47,500-a-year post of U.S. Commissioner of the Delaware River Basin Commission.
However, Tribbitt said Tuesday morning he has not yet received official White House notification. He said he’s ready and anxious to open the package and get started on the job, but must await official word from Washington.
Since the appointment does not require State confirmation, the 55 year old Tibbitt can take up his new duties as soon as he hears from the White House.
As commissioner, he will report directly to Interior Secretary Cecil Andrus.
