Miss Alberta Tillman, of Salisbury, Md., is sojourning at the parsonage.
After a protracted illness of the typhoid fever John H. Lofland is able to sit up in his room.
Miss Emma L. Vinyard resumed her studies at the Cecilton High School last Monday, the small-pox scare being over.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vinyard, of Townsend, De., were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. William T. Vinyard last Sunday.
The Lenton season which always begins with Ash Wednesday, comes thirteen days later this year than last. This will bring Easter on April the 12th.
The Senior Christian Endeavor Society holds their prayer meetings every Sunday evening at 7 o’clock. Topic for tomorrow evening: “Lessons from Ben-hadad’s Defe at,” 1 Kings 20:1:20. Temperance.

Diamond-Gulf Station Held Its Grand Opening
The Grand Opening of Middletown’s new Diamond-Gulf Service Station, located at 48 E. Main Street, was held on Thursday and Friday of last week, and was visited by a large number of motorists who wished to enjoy a “one-stop” service for their cars.
The new building, which was recently completed by local contractors, H. Clay Phillips Sons, is of concrete block, painted white with blue trimmings. It consists of a 45,000 lb. ice compartment, 1 bay service station for lubrication and car washing and offices. The new station will also carry a full line of automobile accessories.
A fuel oil and kerosene bulk plant is located in the rear of the property, which will insure better and quicker service to all of Diamond’s customers. The station is also handling Diesel fuel, as well as bag coal. This up-to-the-minutes Diamond Gulf Station features a full line of those well-known Diamond and Gulf Products.
Mr. Wallace Hufnal, manager of the new station, has been associated with Diamond Ice and Coal Co. of Wilmington for 20 years, and was manager of the old plant which occupied this same site.
During the Grand Opening gifts and prizes were presented to both grown-ups and children, with the “grand prize” drawing Friday evening, resulting as follows: 1st prize automobile tire, awarded Lee walker; 2nd, John Wynn, set of spark plugs; 3rd, Mrs. Marie Winder, oil change and lubrication; 4th Mrs. Elsie Bush, car wash; 5th, John N. Sparks, Jr., lubrication. All of the prize winners reside in this town.

Mrs. Edith Cochran, of Rehoboth, attended the wedding of her son, Dan M. Cochran, to Jean Keech, of Bryn Maw, Pa.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lennon and family, of Ridgewood, N.J., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Lawson.
Mrs. Luta Boechmier, of Malvern, Pa., was a visitor here with her sisters, Mrs. W.P. Wilson and Mrs. R. R. Reynolds, the past week.
Miss Brenda Phillips and Mr. and Mrs. John Singletary and little daughters, Joan and Joy, of West Chester, were visitors here on Sunday.
Mr. J.R. Hodgson is employed by the John Wanamaker Store in Wilmington. He was home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hodgson, on Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Austin and family, Jimmy, Billy and Sandy, and Mr. and Mrs. John O’Neal have retuned home from a week’s visit to Miami Beach, Fla.

Odessa Fire Co. and Auxiliary Held annual Banquet
The annual installation banquet of the Odessa Ladies’ Auxiliary and the Fire Company was held on Feb. 4 in the Odessa Fire Hall. Alfred Guthrie served as master of ceremonies.
Josephine Brown, past president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the Delaware Volunteer Fireman’s Association installed the new officers, assisted by Katherine Jenkins, past president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary to the Delaware Volunteer Firemen’s Association. The new officers are: President-Rebecca Pernol, Vice President-Linda Riddaugh, Secretary-Betsy Moore, Asst. Secretary-Cindy Bowman, Treasurer-Mary O’Grady.
Nine members of the Ladies’ Auxiliary received their 20-year pins.
Irma Whittington presented the president of the Fire Co. with a check of $1500.
James E. Monihan, president of the Delaware Volunteer Firemen’s Association, installed the new officers of the Odessa Fire Co., assisted by Pat O’Grady, past president of the Odessa Co.
The new officers are: President – Alfred Guthrie, Sec. – Kenneth Pyle, Treas. – Robert Connell, Chief – William Shetzler, 1st Asst. Chief – Robin Shetzler, 2nd asst. Chief – Donald Biddle, Engineer – Walkter Wilson, Fire Recorder – Harold Watts, Rescue Captain – Donald Carey.
