Genevieve “Gen” McMullen, passed away on Sunday, January 2, 2005. She was 64.
Gen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and she will be sadly missed.
Gen was born March 30, 1940 in Delaware County, Pa., to the late Ralph and Martha (Platt) Sims.
She resided in Williamstown and Egg Harbor, N.J., before moving to and settling in Middletown.
She enjoyed being with her grandchildren, playing bingo and collecting elephant figurines.
Gen was predeceased by her sons, Leslie J. and James A. McMullen
Gen is survived by her husband of 41 years, Wesley J. McMullen; her daughter, Dawn Moffitt of Bristol, Tenn.; her sons, Harry V. McMullen and his wife, Mary (Ghione), and Francis "Frankie" McMullen and his fiancé`, Denise Burns; and her beloved grandchildren, Tayna Moffitt, Leslie, Harry Jr., Jacqueline and Emma Cate McMullen, Jennie Messer, CJ Ghione and Francis "Frankie" Jr., Myranda, Courtney and Ryan McMullen.
A funeral service will be held at the Charles P. Arcaro Funeral Home, in Wilmington (opposite Cathedral Cemetery), on Thursday morning, Jan. 6, at 11 a.m.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home after 9:30 a.m.
Entombment will follow the service in Gracelawn Memorial Park.
Larry S. Marshall, Sr.
Larry S. Marshall, Sr., “Pop-Pop,” of Newark, passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at the Christiana Hospital. He was 62.
Larry passed peacefully with his loving family at his side. Born on May 6, 1942, in Wilmington, the son of Edward S. Sr., and Jean Marshall, Larry retired from Local Union #42, after 34 years of employment. Larry was a member of Cornerstone Methodist Church, and he served in the Delaware Army National Guard.
Larry enjoyed surf fishing and the beach. He was an avid Eagles and Phillies fan, and he enjoyed watching NASCAR Racing. His biggest joy was playing with his grandchildren, and at nights lounging in his recliner with his dogs Teddy and Tootsie.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward S. Marshall, Sr. and nephews Steven and Kenny.
Larry will be sadly missed by his devoted and loving wife of 43 years, Barbara; his mother, Jean Marshall of Millsboro; his four children, Kimberly Keen and her husband Chance of Newark, Larry, Jr. and his wife Karen of New Castle, Michael and his wife Noel of Middletown, and Larry’s youngest son, David of Newark. Larry was Pop-Pop to seven grandchildren, Tara, Chance, Amber, Brian, Lisa, Tyler, Hailey, and great-granddaughter Naezia. Larry will also be missed by his brothers, Edward Marshall, Jr. and his wife Peggy of Pike Creek, Kenny Marshall and his wife Sally of Wilmington, and his sister Sandy Byerly and her husband Donald of Pennsylvania.
A funeral service was held on Monday, Jan. 3. Interment followed at Gracelawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Cornerstone Methodist Church Building Fund, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE 19701-2001.
Donald Richardson, Sr.
Donald Bruce Richardson, Sr. of Middletown, died suddenly on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2004. He was 56.
Don recently retired from Johnson Controls Battery Division in Middletown after 31 years of service. He was an active member of Harvest Assembly of God in Middletown, Christian Motorcyclist Association and the Gold Wing Road Riders Association; and served many years with the Middletown Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of seven years, Janice Batson Richardson; a son, D. Bruce Richardson; daughters, Tonya Richardson-Hurtt, Hope Richardson-Kanni, and two stepdaughters Tricia Keen and Cindy Norton, all of Middletown; and his grandchildren: Nathan Richardson, Cory Karow, Jordan Karow, Rishi Kanni, Nichole Hurtt, Ashlee Norton and Zachary Norton. He is also survived by a sister, Amy Sloan of Middletown and two brothers, Robert Richardson of Middletown and Mike Richardson of Montrose, Colo.
Services were held on Sunday, Jan. 2. Interment was held privately.

John Alda Carroll
John Alda Carroll, of Townsend passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2004, in the Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was 91.
Mr. Carroll farmed most of his life, and he had also worked at Sun Oil Co. in Marcus Hook, Pa. and for the Delaware State Highway Department until his retirement. He and his wife Ruth raised more than 20 foster children. He was known by most as "Uncle Allie," and will be missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth in 1995, and he was also preceded in death by a foster child, Timothy Orr.
He is survived by an adopted son, Johnnie Carroll of Pa., a stepson, Norman Squares of Rock Hall, Md., sisters-in-law, Martha Large, Laura Lugovoy, Rose Marie Moore, and Myrtle Blanchfield, and his special caregiver Ida Mae Ford. He will also be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services was held on Monday, Jan. 3, in Middletown.
Burial was in the Townsend Cemetery.
Cora L. Kedersha
Cora L. Kedersha, of Middletown, N.J., died Thursday, December 30, 2004 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. She was 89.
Mrs. Kedersha was born on April 29, 1915 in Newark, N.J. and moved to Middletown, N.J., where she was a long-time resident.
She had an extensive and varied history in civil service. She worked as a secretary for the Middletown Fire Chief. As an active Republican, she served as Committee Chairwoman for many years. Mrs. Kedersha also participated in community activities as a Cub Scout Pack Leader and Coordinator of Refreshment Sales at Middletown High School football games.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and wife, extraordinary grandmother and great-grandmother, and friend to all who knew her.
Mrs. Kedersha enjoyed trips to Atlantic City, crocheting for her family and friends, watching NFL football, and dancing. She was often found in the kitchen whipping up yummy treats and surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Kedersha, in 1989.
Mrs. Kedersha is survived by her daughter, June Stemmle, and her husband, Joseph, and her son, Thomas Kedersha, and his wife, Lucille, all of Middletown, Del. In addition to her children, she is survived by five grandchildren and their spouses and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Jan. 3, at the Daniels and Hutchinson Funeral Home in Middletown.
Burial was in Union, N.J., where she will be laid to rest with her late husband and parents.

Kenneth David Knotts
Kenneth David Knotts, of Smyrna, passed away on Sunday January 2, 2005 at his residence. He was 73.
He was born in Newark, the son of the late G. Franklin and V. Dorothea Knotts.
Ken was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was formerly employed as the manager of Suburban Gas Co., in Glasgow, and later worked as an independent truck driver. After moving to Smyrna in 1973, he was employed by Southern States Coop., Clayton, as a fuel delivery driver.
After his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a faithful member of Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna, and was involved in many organizations within the church, including, the Methodist Men; the choir; and membership in numerous committees. In addition, Ken was involved in other Christian organizations such as the Walk to Emmaus, and the Promise Keepers.
As a former member of the Del-Bay Retrievers Club, he enjoyed running Labrador Retrievers in field trials. He also belonged to a camping club.
He will be missed greatly by his family and all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Edith P. Knotts, in 2004.
He is survived by a son, David, of Harrington; three daughters, Karen Swartz, and Jill Walters, both of Smyrna; and Kathy Pepper, of Lewes; two brothers, Rev. Jerry Knotts, of Bear; and Merle Knotts, of Newark; a sister, Patricia Gruner, of Newark; ten grandchildren, Amy Muchenberger; Andy Swartz; Angel Swartz; Jeff Still; Rebecca Pepper; Hannah Pepper; Jen Pepper; Tara Stewart; Laverne Jerread; and Meghan Knotts; and two great-grandchildren, Marc and Jacob Stewart.
Services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, Jan. 6, at Asbury United Methodist Church, in Smyrna, where friends may call at 9 a.m. Interment will be 2 p.m. at Barratts Chapel Cemetery, near Frederica.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Asbury United Methodist Church, PO Box 330, Smyrna, DE 19977; or to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
