He was born in Crumpton, Md., the son of the late George and Grace Biddle Woodall. He moved to Delaware as a child, and was a 1942 graduate of John Bassett Moore High School, Smyrna.
Mr. Woodall was a Navy veteran of World War II, having served in the South Pacific Theater on the USS Pondera as an Electrician's Mate 2nd Class.
He was self-employed as an electrician for many years, retiring several years ago.
Mr. Woodall was a member of VFW Post 8801, Clayton, and of American Legion Post 14, Smyrna. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Woodall, and a brother, George Woodall, both in 1997.
He is survived by two sons, Julian G. Woodall and his wife Gail, of Camden; and William F. Woodall, of Frederica; a daughter, Patricia L. Mood, of Smyrna; two brothers, Jesse Woodall, of Farmington; and Franklin Woodall, of Rehoboth; a sister, Virginia Hebb, of Baltimore; and eight grandchildren; Daniel, Alison, Mark, Jeremy, Jason, and Chris Woodall, and Abbie and Christopher Mood.
Services were held Sunday Oct. 27 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna.

Danna Y. Bradley
She fought an extraordinary year-long battle with cancer. Beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Danna was preceded in death by her parents, Marge and Dan Young, and brother Bobby of Seaford.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 34 years, John Bradley Sr.; her daughter, Danielle Bradley and partner Amy Speargas, of Baltimore, Md.; her son, John Bradley Jr., his wife Jody, and grandchildren Olivia and Gavin, all of Middletown. She is survived by her sister, Helen, and brother-in-law, Bill O'Donoghue; mother-in-law, Marilee Bradley; and brother-in-law, Mike and his wife Marie Bradley, and their children, Ann Marie and Megan, all of Seaford.
In celebration of Danna s life, a small open house was held Oct. 22.
In lieu of flowers, Danna, an avid animal and nature lover, requested contributions be made to the Delaware Humane Society, 701 A. St., Wilmington, DE.19801.
Dominic M. Fontana Jr.
Mr. Fontana was born in Wilmington on Nov. 23, 1921, the son of the late Dominic M. Fontana Sr. and Catherine M. Roman Fontana. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Fontana was a bricklayer by profession and worked as a foreman for many years with Joseph Rizzo & Sons Construction in New Castle. A devout Catholic, he was a member of St. Margaret of Scotland parish and a former member of Our Lady of Fatima parish.
He greatly enjoyed bowling with his buddies in the Senior Men's League at Pleasant Hill Bowling Lanes. An avid Eagles fan, he also enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. During his retirement years, Mr. Fontana moved to his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach and traveled extensively with his wife. A loving and devoted family man, he delighted in spending time with his children and grandchildren. Even when he wasn't feeling well, a visit from his darling great-grandchildren could always put a smile on his face.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John B. Fontana Sr.; and a sister, Catherine A. Hewitt. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gaynell M. Koerber Fontana; five children, Beverly J. Jones and her husband Jerry, of Newark, D. Michele Fontana and her companion John Woloszyn, of Bear, Dominic M. Fontana III and his wife Tina, of New Castle, Deborah M. Long and her husband Reade, of Bear and Edmund J. Fontana of New Castle; brother, Lawrence E. Fontana Sr. and his wife Idella, of Middletown; sister, Doris F. Obara of Newark; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to friends, the staff of Christiana Hospital's Acute Care for the Elderly Unit, and the nurses and aides of Vitas Hospice for their loving care and support during this difficult time.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Oct. 21 at St. Margaret of Scotland R.C. Church, Newark. Interment with military honors followed in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Daniel L. Gagliardi Sr.
Born in Penns Grove, N.J., to Filippo and Rosina Carboni Gagliardi, Dan received an honorable discharge from the 44th Quarter Master Company of the U.S. Army in July 1943. After serving in World War II, Dan worked for the DuPont Company and retired in 1977 after 39 years of service.
In addition to working for DuPont, Dan and his lifelong friend, Mario Evangelista, enjoyed working together and took great pride in the fact that they were both master craftsmen of masonry. Dan was a lifelong member of St. James RC Church, a member of St. James Senior Saints, and a longtime member of the Washington Club.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was predeceased by his brother, Adam Gagliardi; and his sisters, Prudence Federici and Virginia Mangiocco.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 59 years, Aileen K. Gagliardi; three daughters, Florence Ann Jaros and her husband Gary, of Newark, Rosalie V. Gagliardi of New Castle, Danielle G. Morrison and her husband Michael, of Bear; and two sons, Daniel L. Gagliardi Jr. of Middletown and Robert F. Gagliardi of Pennsville, N.J. Other survivors include seven grandchildren, Veronica Gaudet, Renee Gaudet, Robert F. "Jr" Gagliardi, Jr., Sarah Rachel Morrison, Lisa Gagliardi, David Gagliardi and Angela Gagliardi; seven great-grandchildren, and one step-grandson, Steven Jaros. Dan is also survived by his brother, Philip Gagliardi Jr.; two sisters, Ellen Funaro and Jean Canizzaro; as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Oct. 21 at St. James RC Church, Penns Grove, N.J. Interment was in the Veteran's Cemetery in Woodstown, N.J.

Lisa B. Simon
Lisa was the cherished wife of Peter Gill, proud mother of Natalie Simon, and daughter of Bill and Shirley Bolton. She was artistic, athletic, and a very social person that also loved all her pets.
Lisa spent most of her life in the Wilmington area and was an extremely talented hair stylist and known for her sense of style and love for shopping. Lisa enjoyed travel, and especially loved the beach. Her nieces and nephews will always remember her fun spirit and playfulness. She was incredibly proud of what an exceptionally young woman, her daughter, Natalie, is and always has been.
She was predeceased by her nephew, Ayden Bolton. Lisa is survived by her daughter, Natalie Simon of Wilmington; her husband, Peter Gill, and his children, Ethan and Kelly Gill of Bear; her parents, Bill and Shirley Bolton of Wilmington; mother-and father-in-law, Richard and Gail Gill of Middletown; brother, Robbie Bolton of Wilmington; brother and sister-in-law, Vaughn and Mary Bolton and their sons, Derek and Reece, of Wilmington; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Jim Ratner and their children, Eli and Delaney, of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Tambri Gill of Houston, Texas; and a host of extended family and friends.
A service was held Oct. 21 at the Chandler Funeral Home, Hockessin.

Clarence H. Johnson Sr.
Mr. Johnson was born in Salem to the late Raymond S. Johnson Sr. and Naomi Johnson. Dutch was a longtime Salem County resident. He was employed as a chemical operator by DuPont Chambers Works in Deepwater, retiring after 45 years service.
He was predeceased by his wife, Helen E. Harrell Johnson, who died in 1985; and a daughter, Cynthia L. Kiachif, who died in 1995. Survivors include his children, Jacqueline L. Jackie Willis of Newark, Charles H. "Chuck" Johnson Jr. of Middletown, and Peter M. Johnson of Florida; brother, Raymond S. Johnson Jr. of Carneys Point; and six grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Oct. 24 at the Laughrey Funeral Home, Pennsville. Burial followed in Eglington Cemetery in Clarksboro.
Edith and William Moore
Born in Wilmington May 21, 1954, Edith was the daughter of the late Charles M. Anderson and Edith Marie Wilfong Anderson. She was a talented homemaker and enjoyed bingo and caring for her pet goat, Brownie.
William was born in Wilmington June 29, 1951. He worked as a professional truck driver for many years. His hobbies included fishing, gadgets, games, and old westerns.
Edith and William are survived by their three daughters, Noel-Alee Hines of Dover, Bryanne Beil of Alabama and Amanda Moore and her companion Harry Hampton, of Tennessee; and seven grandchildren, Creighton, Chayne, Robert and Joseph Hines, Johnny Heffernen, Jaden Beil and Skye Hampton. They were preceded in death by a grandson, Dale Hines.
Edith is also survived by a brother, Kirk Anderson of Newark; two sisters, Catherine Mills of Smyrna and Julie Tuten of Newark; and a nephew, Jay Mills Jr. of Smyrna.
William is also survived by his mother Dorothy Moore of Tennessee; five brothers, Walter Moore of Delaware City, Rick Moore and Ronald Moore, both of New Castle, Albert Moore of Newark and John Moore of Tennessee; and a sister, Sharon Moore-Holman of Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Moore.

Doris E. Mulhern
She retired as a maintenance clerk from ICI America in New Castle.
Her husband, Thomas J. Mulhern, died in 1983. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Michael E. Price . Doris is survived by her daughters, Carole E. Price and her husband Ed, of Newark and Nancy A. L'Heureux and her husband Cim, of Middletown; her sister, Louise Browning of Newark; two granddaughters, Wendy and Beth; and two great-granddaughters, Tara and Kirsten.
A funeral service was held Oct. 22 at the McCrery Memorial Chapel. Interment was in Gracelawn Memorial Park.

Joseph J. Kuczmarski
A native Delawarean, Mr. Kuczmarski was born in Wilmington Aug. 3, 1925, son of the late Benjamin Kuczmarski and Victoria Jankowski Kuczmarski. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country in World War II. An insulator by profession, he worked for the DuPont Company for 30 years, retiring from the Chambers Works site in Deepwater, N.J., in 1990. Mr. Kuczmarski was a member of New Castle Moose Lodge 1578 and was an avid fisherman.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Louise Culberson Kuczmarski, in 1984; a son, Eugene J. Cookie Kuczmarski, in 1998; and a brother, Henry Kuczmarski, in 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Barbara S. Boyd Kuczmarski; four stepchildren, Connie Krautter of New Castle, Teri Ransom of Denver, Colo., Kim Horne of Middletown and Donald M. Ransom of Wilmington; six siblings, Helen Gladkowski of Philadelphia, Pa., Blanche Blackburn of Cape Coral, Fla., Eugene Kuczmarski, Francis Kuczmarski, Elizabeth Brady and Antoinette Sziebilski, all of Wilmington; 15 grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his pet miniature schnauzer, Susie.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 27, at St. Peter the Apostle R.C. Church, Fifth and Harmony streets, New Castle, where friends may call after 11 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

Marie E. Egan
A native Delawarean, Mrs. Egan was born in Wilmington Dec. 18, 1926, daughter of the late William Callahan and Marie Barrow Callahan. For many years, she worked as a waitress for the Woolworth's Department Store at both Market Street and Price s Corner, retiring in 1982. Throughout her life, Mrs. Egan delighted in being a homemaker and devoted herself to caring for her beloved husband, children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Charles F. Egan Jr., in 1980. She is survived by her husband Charles F. Egan Sr.; daughter, Sherry L. Remick and husband George, of Newark; son, Richard A. Egan and wife Michele, of Rising Sun, Md.; four brothers, Jack Callahan of Middletown, Ernest Callahan of Felton, Robert Callahan of Newark, and Roy Callahan of Wilmington; eight grandchildren, John, Charles, Christy, Tanya, Tara, Tabatha, Tamera and Brianna; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Oct. 26 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, New Castle. Interment followed in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.

Thelma M. Slagel
Thelma was born June 11, 1912, in Luzerne County, Pa. She was a homemaker and a longtime member of Red Lion Evangelical Free Church.
Her late husband, the Rev. Norman F. Slagel, preceded her in death in 1991. She is survived by her son, Leon A. McBride and his wife Virginia of Red Lion; her grandsons, Richard McBride of Wilmington, Jeffery McBride and his wife Jennifer, of Middletown, and David McBride and his wife Kristen, of Charlotte, N.C.; her great-grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew, Kelly, Matthew and Megan; and her sister, Clara Johnson of Lewisburg, Pa.
A funeral service was held Oct. 26 at Red Lion Evangelical Free Church. The interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Church St., Catawissa, Pa., Thursday, Oct. 27, at noon.

Emma B. Kemether
She was born in Summit, daughter of the late John R. and Lucy Johnson Butler. Mrs. Kemether had been hostess/manager at the Glass Kitchen in Glasgow.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph F. Kemether; daughter, Shirley Jean Ferrese; and siblings, Jack, Charles, George, William and Frank Butler, Sarah Walls and Mary Harrah. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jo Trexler, of Elkton; siblings, Anna Massey, of Middletown and Ernest Butler, of Townsend; grandchildren, Cheryl Ann Vogel, Frederick J. Ferrese Jr., Christine D. Houston, Amy Jo Smith, and Bobi Jo Wilson; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held Oct. 27 at Hicks Home for Funerals, Elkton. Interment followed in Bethel Cemetery, Chesapeake City.

Florence Cooke
Mrs. Cooke founded and operated Loving Care Nursery School, a Christian school, in 1964. She was a pioneer in the childcare and early care in education profession. She represented the childcare community on many task forces, committees and boards for the betterment of the lives of children in Delaware. She was most proud of sharing the love of God and the Christian faith with the generations of children in her care.
She was a lifelong active member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Smyrna, where she was listed on the cradle roll, was a soloist from the age of 4, and active in the junior choir, intermediate choir and the senior choir. She taught Sunday school for more than 30 years and served on the Administrative Board, Pastor-Parish Relations, Cemetery committee, a charter member of the Harvey C. Jones Bible Class, Prayer Chain, Altar Guild, Worship committee, head usher and coordinator of ushers.
She was a member of the 20th Century Club where she served as vice president and chaplain for many years; and the Town & Country Homemakers Club, having served as an officer many times. She was a charter member and past president of the Smyrna Garden Club, a life member of the Duck Creek Historical Society and was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge, where she and her husband, Cookie, enjoyed dancing and working for the good works of the Moose for many years. She was a member of the Friends of the Library, the Ag. Museum s Guild, Smyrna-Clayton Heritage Society and the Kent Co. Republican Women s Club.
While President of the Smyrna Garden Club, Mrs. Cooke initiated annual awards for outstanding gardens and landscaping in the Smyrna area, where people received a pat on the back for their efforts in all areas of gardening that beautified the community. It was under her guidance that a scholarship was established for students studying Horticulture or Agriculture sciences.
She served on the Advisory Board of the Delaware Home and Hospital, Smyrna. As president, she was very active in the affairs of the hospital, especially the young adult unit, which she was instrumental in creating so that young people could be together as a unit and not mixed in with the older population of the hospital. She organized area service organizations to donate coffee pots to the hospital so that the residents could have coffee to drink in their units, not just at meals. She organized many parties for the patients and dinner trips to the Wayside Inn, in an effort for the patients to have some normal activities in their lives.
Mrs. Cooke wrote A History of Smyrna. The book was sold and the proceeds given to the restoration of the Barracks on Smyrna s Main Street, a property of the Duck Creek Historical Society.
She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for 12 years and took the girls in her care to New York City, the United Nations, Washington, D.C., Longwood Gardens, the Delaware Art Museum, as well as camping and many, many other activities that promoted friendship and learning.
Mrs. Cooke was a Republican with a capital R. She had been a Republican committee person and former chairman of the old 30th Representative District, and the 28th Representative District. She served as campaign chairman for Robert Riddaugh when he served in the House of Representatives. She was also a member of the Republican State Committee and a delegate to many conventions.
She served as a hostess at the Governor s House during the Camelot years of Gov. and Mrs. Pierre S. duPont IV, and also for Gov. Michael Castle. She enjoyed the festivals and tours at the Governor s House and the special things that Mrs. Elise duPont initiated and presented with elegance and beauty.
She wrote a column for the Smyrna/Clayton Sun-Times called Good Things From the Soil for more than three years, sharing her love of gardening and recognizing community members who beautified the community for all. She was voted the 1988 Outstanding Citizen in the Smyrna/Clayton Sun-Times annual contest. The Smyrna-Clayton Janecees presented her a plaque in honor of her work with fundraising for Leukemia. She also received a plaque from the Duck Creek Historical Society for writing A History of Smyrna.
Mrs. Cooke recently established a Smyrna Red Hat Society, where she was the Queen. She and her friends enjoyed going out to lunch and dressing up in their Red Hat finery, and just having fun and enjoying the blessings of good friendships.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John W. and Lydia L. Jacobs; her beloved husband, Franklin T. Cooke; six brothers, Benjamin F. Jacobs, Edwin Dick Jacobs, William Jacobs, John W. Jacobs Jr., Charles Jacobs and Samuel Jacobs; and three sisters, Irene Jacobs, Helen Regeneaur and Gertrude Lovegrove.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving daughter and son-in-law, Bettielou and Bill Wagner of Smyrna; a step-granddaughter, Juliet Wagner of Boulder, Colo.; and countless children whose lives she touched as she loved and cared for them at Loving Care Nursery School for more than 43 years.
Services were held on Oct. 21 at Asbury United Methodist Church, Smyrna.
Burial was at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Jeanne Hankins Hadley
Mrs. Hadley was a lifelong teacher, beginning her teaching career at Tatnall School in Wilmington. She taught at Alexis I. DuPont High School, Oak Grove Middle School and Cecil Community College.
During the 1950s, Mrs. Hadley pioneered the home-bound tutoring program for the state of Delaware and continued with her home-bound students throughout her career, first in Wilmington, then with the Appoquinimink School District and as recently as June of 2007, with the Cape Henlopen School district in Sussex County.
Mrs. Hadley was an involved Rehoboth Beach resident for more than 20 years. She has been a docent at the Homestead of the Rehoboth Art League since 1985, and became a member of the Village Improvement Association (VIA) the same year and was involved with the Hugh O Brien Youth Leadership program (HOBY) for more than a decade.
She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin G. Hadley in 1984.
She is survived by her son, Jan Hadley of West Union, S.C.; a daughter, Lauren Kermode of Chesapeake City, Md.; four brothers, David Hankins, Steven Hankins, Paul Hankins and the Rev. William Hankins; three grandsons, Charles Hadley, John Richardson and Sam Richardson; two granddaughters, Katherine Gordon and Claire Richardson; and seven great-grandchildren.
There will be a memorial service at Parsell Funeral Home at 16961 Kings Highway in Lewes, on Sunday, Oct. 28. Visitation with the family at 1 p.m. and service at 2 p.m.

Robert O. Davenport
Mr. Davenport was born on Dec. 16, 1922, in Plymouth, Pa., son of the late George F. and May Josephine (Atwood) Davenport.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, where he served as First Class Petty Officer from 1942 until 1948.
He was a welder by trade for more than 40 years.
Mr. Davenport was a member of Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Middletown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis and Andrew; and his first wife of 41 years, Dorothy S. Davenport.
He is survived by his loving second wife, Arretta (Wiley) Davenport of Townsend; a brother, William Whitney Davenport of Dunnellon; four sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert George Davenport of Seaford, William Lewis and Vicki Davenport of Clayton, and James Andrew Davenport and Jeffrey Mark Davenport, both of Seaford; a daughter, Donna Lee (Davenport) Glisson of Felton; three stepchildren, Glen Wiley, Terry Wiley and Daniel Wiley; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Oct. 22 at Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church, Middletown.
Graveside services were held on Oct. 23 at Maple Hill Cemetery, Wilkes Barre, Pa.
Sgt. Joseph F. Montruchio
Sgt. Montruchio was born on Jan. 20, 1959, in Wilmington, son of the late Victor J. and Mary Louise Montruchio.
He was raised in Wilmington and graduated from William Penn High School in 1977.
After graduating, Sgt. Montruchio enlisted in the U.S. Army and served four years as a medic. He earned the Expert Infantryman s Badge and Expert Medical Badge while serving in Germany, and was honorably discharged in 1980.
He had been formerly employed by the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
After the tragedy of Sept. 11, Sgt. Montruchio was inspired to served his country a second time by enlisting in the Delaware National Guard. He was mobilized from February 2003 until December 2005, and helped provide security at Dover Air Force Base in support of the Global War On Terrorism. This past summer, he was awarded the Army Achievement Medal.
He was at Fort Dix receiving weapons training at the time of his untimely passing. As a tribute to his exemplary service, he was posthumously awarded the Army Commendation Medal.
Sgt. Montruchio was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
He was an avid Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed watching the History Channel. He loved camping, surf fishing and working on his car. He will be remembered as a caring person who loved to make others happy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his best friend, Carmen Speedy Montoro.
He is survived by his wife of four years, Jo Ann Montruchio; a son, Victor Montruchio of Ohio; two daughters, Julie Montruchio of Atlanta and Savannah Montruchio of Hartly; two sisters, Lisa Montruchio and Vickie Bodine, both of Newark; and two grandchildren.
Services will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 25, at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial with full military honors will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Savannah Montruchio Trust Fund, c/o Wilmington Trust, 1100 N. Market St., Wilmington, DE 19890.
