Mrs. Ginn was born June 3, 1921, in New London, Pa., daughter of the late John Woolens and Anna (Lewis) Woolens.
She held many jobs in her life, the most recent of which was as a cook for Luisa s Restaurant in Chestertown.
Mrs. Ginn enjoyed needlework, watching the Baltimore Orioles play, reading and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Allan Ginn, in 2001.
She is survived by three sons, Randy Thomas of Cecilton, Richard Thomas of Hollywood, Fla., and Theodore Thomas of Rising Sun; a daughter, Cathy Thomas of Townsend; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday, Sept. 21, at 11 a.m., at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 226 E. Main St., Cecilton, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery in Earleville, Md.
Agnes Mabel Wright Payne
Mrs. Payne was born in Harrington, daughter of the late Frank and Mabel Hulbert Wright.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, flowers and going to yard sales.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Wright and Albert Wright.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Howard E. Payne; four sons and four daughters-in-law, Ronald L. and Wanda L. Payne of Greenwood, Robert H. and Gail Payne of Middletown, Gary P. and Terri Payne of Port Orange and Kevin I. and Donna Payne of Hadden Field, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Payne, Todd Payne, Bryan Payne, Scott Payne, Becky Payne, Adam Payne, Phillip Payne, Garrett Payne, Kyle Payne and Anna Payne; two sisters, Thelma Orth and Daisy Hill, both of Dover,; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Wright of Milford.
Services were Sept. 16 in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, Milford.
Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
Frances B. Roberts
Mrs. Roberts was born on Nov. 4, 1933, in Elizabethton, Tenn., daughter of the late Frank and Rebecca (Wilcox) Brummitt.
She was a loving mother who took great pride in her family. For many years, she worked at her sister s restaurant in Middletown. She and her husband owned and operated the Middletown Newspaper stand for a number of years, which they sold in 1976.
She was a lady with a big heart who enjoyed playing cards and spending time with her family and especially looked forward to family gatherings and picnics. Every Sunday, she enjoyed attending church. The world will be a much sadder place without her, but the family is comforted in knowing that Heaven has received an angel.
Mrs. Roberts was a member of Glasgow Baptist Church in Newark, DE.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 29 years, Mack Roberts, on Oct. 9, 1990; a granddaughter, Sheree Kimble; two sisters, Martha Allen and Beatrice Bea Roberts, on July 3, 2007; and a brother, George Brummitt.
She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Archie D. and Sharon Brummit of Townsend; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Joyce L. and Jim Kimble, and Jannie M. and Jimmy Nichols, all of Townsend, Kathy L. and Donald Smith, and Sharon and Herman Kline, all of Middletown, and Karen J. Brummitt of Elkton, Md.; two sisters, Billie Hamby of Middletown and Lorene Hamby of Smyrna; a brother, Kenneth Brummit of Elizabethton, Tenn.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held on Sept. 17, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.
Burial was in Forest Cemetery.

Helen M. Sharp
Mrs. Sharp was born on Dec. 24, 1918, in Wilmington, daughter of the late William T. and Clara M. (Hughes) Cox.
She retired from Bausch & Lomb Optical Company in Wilmington.
A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mrs. Sharp had great love for her family and will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George T. Sharp; a daughter, Patricia Janiver; a granddaughter, Michelle Rebuck; a brother, William T. Cox Jr.; and a sister, Marie Bonsall.
She is survived by a son and a daughter-in-law, Thomas B. and Judith Sharp; two grandsons and a granddaughter-in-law, Thomas M. and Elizabeth Sharp and Robert M. Sharp; two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, Sharon and Glenn Eiband and Victoria Sharp; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Dorothy Casey and Mildred and Fred Vieham, all of Bradenton, Fla., and Shirley Montgomery of Middletown; seven great-grandchildren, Megan Rabian, Michael Rabian, Ryan Sharp, Kai Sharp, Zachary Shar, Jacob Sharp and Regina Janvier; a godchild, Desiree Berringer Carton; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to her nieces Lorraine Viehman and Carol Burkholder for their years of devotion.
Services and burial were Sept. 19, at the Chapel at Grace Lawn Memorial Park, New Castle.

Tommy Joe Blankenship
Mr. Blankenship was born on Dec. 22, 1959, in Welch, W.Va.
A construction worker by profession, he was employed with P.J. Fitzpatrick in Newark and also worked as an independent contractor.
In his leisure time, Mr. Blankenship greatly enjoyed riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maston Blankenship.
He is survived by a son, T.J. of New Castle; his mother, Ruth Blankenship of Newark; two brothers, Jerry Blankenship of Newark and Jimmy Blankenship of Boca Raton, Fla.; a sister, Kathy Shrewsbury of Middletown; a granddaughter, Kaylee; and his companion, Mary Blankenship of Newark.
Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2007, at 11 a.m., at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Florentina B. Mommore Scherer
Mrs. Scherer was born on Dec. 13, 1913, in Brooklyn, daughter of the late Henry A. and Mary Aufenanger Dickmann.
She worked as a Merrow sewing machine operator at Schmidt s Knitting Mill in Ridgewood, Queens, early in her life. She later accepted a position as the kitchen manager of the Gibbons Rest Home in Jamesburg, N.J.
A talented homemaker throughout her life, Mrs. Scherer greatly enjoyed baking, cooking and sewing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William V. Scherer, in 1966; and a son, William T. Scherer.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary P. Connor, with whom she lived; five grandchildren, Daniel Connor, Timothy Connor, Brian Connor, William Scherer and Michelle Scherer; and five great-grandchildren, Lindsey Connor, William Scherer, Morgan Scherer, Kelsey Martin and Josephine Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial was Sept. 14, at St. Joseph R.C. Church, Middletown.
Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, N.Y.

Jessie Dodd Wilkins
Mrs. Wilkins was a member of the Harbeson United Methodist Church, the Harbeson Homemakers, past president of the Georgetown PTA, had chaperoned for the Miss Delaware Contest and formerly served on the Return Day Committee for Georgetown. For many years, she was involved in the operation of the Harbeson Feed Company and Lawson Construction Company. She also served as a hostess for her brother at the Dodd-Carey Funeral home and for Keith Parsell in later years.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clifford William Lawson, in 1970; and a sister, Julia Dodd Kingin, in 1998.
She is survived by her husband, Loraine W. Wilkins; two sons and two daughters-in-law, William and Judith Lawson of Georgetown and Robert L. and Diana Lawson of Harbeson; a brother and a sister-in-law, Ronald F. and Rebecca Dodd of Georgetown; four grandsons and three granddaughters-in-law, Todd F. and Stacy Lawson of Arlington, Va., Clifford W. II and Meg Lawson of Georgetown, Kirk and Mary Lawson of Harbeson, and Kris Lawson of Millsboro; two great-grandsons, Robbie Lawson of Harbeson and Case Louis Lawson of Georgetown; a stepdaughter and a stepson-in-law, Linda and Mike Davis of Harrington; two step-granddaughters and a step-grandson-in-law, Robin Esham of Clarksville, and Amber and Scott Welch of Bridgeville; a step-grandson and a step-granddaughter-in-law, Micky and Lori Davis of Middletown; a step-great-grandson, Tyler Welch of Bridgeville; a step-great-granddaughter, Caitlin Davis of Middletown; and a niece, Kay King Sobolewski of Florida.
Services were Sept. 16 at the Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Georgetown.
Burial was in Harbeson Cemetery.

Harold D. Anderson
Harold D. Anderson of Earleville, Md. died Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at The Arbors in New Castle. He was 79.
Mr. Anderson was a self-employed carpenter for more than 45 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patrice A. Anderson; a daughter, Jackquline H. Fowler and husband, Harry, of New Castle; a grandson, John R. Joiner, Jr. of Warwick, Md.; a great-grandson, Jeramy Sheeley of Oskalossa, Iowa; a stepson, Robert Allen Conway of N.M.; three sisters, Eleanor Duns, Vida Burnham and Millie Pieler; and many nieces and nephews of Ponsford, Minn.
Services and burial were private.

Clinton R. Bill Bilger
Clinton R. Bilger of New Castle died Wednesday, September 12, 2001 at his home. He was 80.
Mr. Bilger had been a lineman and a repairman with Chrysler Corporation in Newark, retiring in 1984 after more than 25 years of service. He was a US Army veteran of World War II.
He was preceded in death by his wife, June A. (Long) Bilger, March 13, 2001.
He is survived by three stepsons, Richard L. Cavanaugh and Leonard A. Cavanaugh, both of New Castle and Charles S. Cavanaugh of Middletown; three sisters, Hazel Potts of Dillsburg, Pa., Josephine Guyer or Chambersburg, Pa. and Pauline Skipper of Kannapolis, N.C.; six step-grandchildren; and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 17 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, New Castle.
Interment was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Frank C. Churay
Frank C. Churay of Talleyville died Saturday, September 15, 2001 at home surrounded by family. He was 81.
Mr. Churay was the son of the late George and Mary Bena Churay. At an early age, they moved to Kent County, Md. where he was raised on a farm near Massey. He served two years aboard the USS Wyoming. In 1955, he built a home in Talleyville where he and his wife raised their family. For 27 years, Mr. Churay was an Electrical Maintenance Foreman for Chrysler, Newark Plant retiring in 1979.
His memberships include St. Dennis R. C. Church, St. Mary Magdalen R. C. Church and Avondale Gun Club. He enjoyed traveling, outdoor sports, target shooting, riding his motorcycle, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Churay is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ruth Crooks Churay; two daughters, Lynda Lefler and her husband, Kemer, of Wilmington and Mary Mimi Carlson and her husband, Robert, of Middletown; a sister, Dorothy Bostic of Church Hill, Md.; and seven grandchildren, Devon, Kemer, III, Kyle, Jordan and Justin Lefler and Ryan and Craig Carlson.
Services were Sept. 18 at Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, Galena and Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dennis R. C. Church, Galena, Md.
Burial was in Galena Cemetery, Galena, Md.

Ralph W. Gibson
Ralph W. Gibson of Middletown, formerly of Woodstown, N.J., died suddenly in Reno, Nev. Thursday, September 13, 2001. He was 79.
Born in Camden, son of the late Earl and Ethel (Archer) Gibson. Formerly employed as a Millwright at the E. I. DuPont Chambers Works, Deepwater, N.J., he retired in 1983 with 21 years of service. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII.
Mr. Gibson was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela; a brother, Earl; and a sister, Esther Evans.
He is survived by his wife, Vera Mae (Bakley) Gibson; three sons, Walter Gibson of Reno, Nev., Michael Gibson of Quinton and Dan Gibson of Reno, Nev.; a daughter, Cynthia Gibson of Middletown; and five grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 19 at the Adams Funeral Home, Penns Grove.
Interment was in Hudson Methodist Church Cemetery, Pedricktown.

Joan B. Hitchens
Joan B. Hitchens of Middletown died Thursday, September, 13, 2001 at her residence. She was 59.
Mrs. Hitchens retired from Delaware Trust Company after 38 years of service. She was assistant vice president of the Middletown branch. She also served on the board of the M.O.T. Senior Center, was a past treasurer of the Forest Cemetery in Middletown and was a member of the Middletown-Odessa Rotary Club.
She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Charles M. Skip Hitchens, III; a son, Timothy J. Hitchens of Middletown; her mother, Myrtle Brittingham of Smyrna; a sister, Peggy Roe of Milford; two brothers, Charles Brittingham of Smyrna and Bobby Alexander of Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Sept. 17 at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, Middletown.
Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Naomi B. Kepley
Naomi B. Kepley of Viola, formerly of Middletown, died Sunday, September 16, 2001 in the Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 82.
Mrs. Kepley and her husband owned and operated the Furniture Clinic in Middletown for 25 years until their retirement in 1992.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1994.
She is survived by two sons, Rev. George E. Kepley of Bear and Daniel J. Kepley of Viola; a brother, Ben Bradley; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 19 in the Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, Minquadale, New Castle.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Joan M. Masterson-Collins
Joan M. Masterson-Collins of Newark died Wednesday, September 12, 2001 in the Christiana Hospital after a long illness. She was 68.
Mrs. Masterson-Collins was preceded in death by her first husband, Timothy J. Masterson and her second husband, Robert J. Collins. She is survived by a son, John S. Masterson of St. Georges; three daughters, Connie Hedrick, Jane M. Waddell and Nancy L. D Antonio, all of Newark; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were Sept. 14 at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.

Garland Norwood Wilson, Sr.
Garland Norwood Wilson, Sr. of New Castle died Tuesday, September 11, 2001 at the Hillside Center in Wilmington. He was 77.
Mr. Wilson worked as a Chief Custodian in the Christina School District and Old De Le Warr School District for 27 years before retiring in 1986. Prior to his work in the school districts, Mr. Wilson worked as a coal miner and an auto mechanic in West Virginia from 1944 to 1954.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mallissia J. Wilson, in 1966; his late wife, Martha J. Wilson, in 1993; two sons, G. Norwood Wilson, Jr. and William Albert Wilson; and a daughter, Dillie Jean Wilson.
Mr. Wilson is survived by a son, Cecil Burns Wilson, Sr. and his wife, Susan, of New Castle; a daughter, Mary Ethyl Ciccantelli and her husband, Vincent, of New Castle; a step daughter, Vicie Estep of Townsend; three step sons, James Evans of Kimblesville, Pa., William Evans of Townsend and John C. Evans of New Castle; two half sisters, Charlotte Andrews of New Castle and Shirley Saragino of Milford; 15 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Sept. 18 at the Gebhart Funeral Home, Olde New Castle.
Burial was at the Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
