Donald James McCann, of Dover, died Friday, July 5, 2002 in the Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 74.
Mr. McCann was a salesman with Tabor Automotive in Wilmington. He later moved to Virginia and retired from Montgomery Ward in 1989. He was an Army veteran of WWII and a member of the VFW and American Legion.
He enjoyed photography and was an avid fan of University of Delaware basketball.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Helen Ewing McCann; two sons, Dennis McCann (Betsey) of Denver, Colo. and Timothy McCann (Martha) of Doylestown, Pa,; a daughter, Kate Frederick Rokosz (Randy) of Middletown; two sisters, Kathleen Quigley of Camp Hill, Pa. and Jane Hoffman of Ponte Vedro, Fla.; and eight grandchildren, Darin, Brett, Travis, Tyler, Clare, Madeline, Chelsea and Karli; and a great-grandson, Gary.
Services and interment were private.

Kenneth Lee K.C. Cook
Kenneth Lee Cook, of Middletown, died Friday, July 5, 2002 in the Christiana Hospital of Christiana Care, Newark. He was 53.
Mr. Cook worked as an ironworker for Eagle Erectors in Bear for more than 20 years. He was a Harley Davidson motorcycle enthusiast.
He was the son the late Ivor James Cook and Marion D. Rutter Cook. He was also predeceased by his nephew, Billy Cook.
He is survived by his son, Kenneth Michael Cook of Bear; three brothers, William Cook of Newark, Edward Cook and Ivor Cook, both of Middletown; a sister, Maryellen Fox of Townsend; four nieces and nephews; three great nieces and nephews; and his extended family, Donna, Ralph, Anthony and Angelo Frontera.
Services were held July 10 at the Gebhart Funeral Home, New Castle.
Interment was in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Minquadale, New Castle.

Anna Virginia Gray Wilson
Anna Virginia Gray Wilson, of Bear, died Saturday, July 6, 2002 surrounded by her family at her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Wilson was the daughter of the late Victor P. and Edna A. Gray. She was a 1945 graduate of Middletown High School and also Beacom College where she earned her business degree. She was employed by St. Georges Lumber Co. and had worked as the bookkeeper for more than 20 years for Delaware City Building & Loan Co. until her retirement in 2000.
Mrs. Wilson was a member of the St. Georges United Methodist Church and served as the U.M Women's President & Treasurer. She enjoyed crocheting, needlework and sewing. She volunteered for various charitable causes throughout the years and was an active member of the Delaware Farm Bureau and the Delaware Agricultural Museum.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Earl W. Wilson; a daughter, Lillian W. Jones (Michael) of Kirkwood; four grandchildren, Anna Mae Wright (Wilbert) of Townsend and Kimberly, Elizabeth and Michael Jones; two great-grandsons Rudy and Randy; a brother, Vance A. Gray (Clara) of Bear; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be held Thursday, July 11 at 11 a.m. in the Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funereal home.
Interment will be in St. Georges Cemetery.

Dr. Willard J. Brown, Jr.
Dr. Willard J. Brown, Jr., of Wilmington, died July 3, 2002 at his home.
He was a dentist in Wilmington for 38 years. Dr. Brown graduated from P.S. duPont High School in 1950. He completed his undergraduate degree in two years at the University of Delaware. He graduated in 1956 from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine and served his internship at Madigan Army Hospital in Tacoma, Wash.
Dr. Brown served in the Army for more than three years. While at the University of Delaware, he was in the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He was a member of the Delaware Dental Association and the American Dental Association.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Jane Raftery Brown; a daughter, Nancy Elizabeth of Wilmington; two sons Lawrence J. of Wilmington and Thomas E. of Port Penn; five grandchildren, Erin, Carly, Lana, Sara and Andrew; a sister, Eileen Brown Hunt of Newark; and a niece and nephew, Amy Hunt and Scott Patrick Hunt, both of Newark.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, July 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church, 1414 King St., Wilmington. Friends may call 30 minutes prior to the mass.

Norman Edward Shepherd
Norman Edward Shepherd, of Landenberg, Pa., died Thursday, July 4, 2002 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark, after a long illness. He was 63.
Born in West Chester, Pa., he was a son of Pauline Barney Shepherd of Newark and the late Edward E. Shepherd. He worked in the maintenance division of Chrysler in Newark from 1958 through 1989. He served in the Army during peacetime in Italy from 1961 to 1964. He loved using his metal detector. He enjoyed his farm home place and fast cars.
In addition to mother, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Linda Gamble Shepherd; two sons, Mark Shepherd of Ocean View and Brian Shepherd of Landenberg, Pa.; a daughter, Ruth Ann Gears of Middletown; six brothers, Raymond Shepherd of Bear, Donald Shepherd of Lewes, Richard Shepherd of Newark, Lewis McCleary and Michael McCleary, both of Elkton, Md. and Bill Shepherd of Newark; three sisters, Mary Elizabeth Clark of Perkasie, Pa., Evelyn Mitola of Tampa, Fla. and Bonnie Adkins of Elkton, Md.; a granddaughter, Danielle Fitzgerald, two grandsons, Nicholas Gears and Jarrett Shepherd; and two great-grandsons, Brenden and Bailey.
Services were held July 9 at the Foulk Funeral Home, West Grove, Pa.
Interment was in the Kemblesville United Methodist Church Cemetery, Kemblesville, Pa.

Jacqueline Jackie Preston Wyatt
Jacqueline Preston Wyatt, of Middletown, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002. She was 48.
She was employed by St. Andrew's School in Middletown.
She is survived by a daughter, Nicole Shuler; and a son, Dale Howard Wyatt, both of Wilmington; her mother and stepfather, Joan Henrikson Kenney and Charles Kenney of Aberdeen, Md.; a sister, Sharon Holotanko of North East, Md.; and a stepbrother, Steven Henrikson of Clayton.
A memorial service was held July 9 in the St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Main St., Odessa.
Interment was held privately in Perryville, Md.

Elizabeth A. Timlin
Elizabeth A. Timlin, of Parkesburg, Pa., formerly of New Castle, died Monday, July 1, 2002 in the Brandywine Hospital, Coatesville, Pa. She was 63.
Mrs. Timlin was a secretary with Lawn Doctor in Newark retiring in 1992 after 15 years of service. She was a former member and officer holder of the Newark Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliary.
In Pennsylvania, she was vice president of the Parksedge Senior Association and enjoyed playing in bingo tournaments.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Timlin, Sr., in 1991; and a great-granddaughter.
She is survived by three sons, Thomas E. Timlin, Jr. of Chesapeake City, Md., DeForrest Wayne Timlin of Rising Sun, Md. and Donald Patrick Timlin of New Castle; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were held July 5 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, New Castle.
Interment was in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Pearl Clark Hall
Pearl Clark Hall, of Townsend, died Sunday, July 7, 2002 in the Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 78.
Mrs. Hall was a homemaker and had worked at Berkman s Variety Store in Middletown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry A. Hall; a brother, Earl Bowman, Sr.; a sister and brother-in-law, Marion and Edward Fisher; and a sister, Lillian Cannon.
Mrs. Hall is survived by a daughter, Elaine Atkinson (Richard) of Townsend; a son, Harry E. Hall; and a grandson, Harry Aaron Hall, both of Newark.
Services will be held Thursday, July 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Glasgow Reformed Presbyterian Church, Rt. 896, and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Interment will be held July 12 at 9 a.m. in Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave., Wilmington.

Erma Venable Pearl
Erma Venable Pearl died Thursday, July 4, 2002 in the Berlin Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Berlin, Md. She was 96.
Born in Danville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles P. Venable and Edna Earl Massey Venable.
Mrs. Pearl had been Berlin s most beloved seamstress and tailor for more than 50 years, working with Style Guide Clothiers, other clothiers and privately. She enjoyed flowers and gardening. She became an accomplished artist, specializing in oils and often exhibited her work.
She was an avid reader and had a love for homeless animals of all kinds. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Berlin.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Henry Pearl, in 1968; and two brothers, Charles Venable and Paul Venable.
She is survived by a son, David Pearl of Middletown; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, William Ward Venable of Berlin; a sister, Olga Venable Quillin of Berlin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held July 7 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Berlin.
Interment was in Sunset Memorial Park, near Berlin.

Robert J. Hart
Robert J. Hart, of near Clayton, died Thursday, July 4, 2002 at his home. He was 71.
He was born in Smyrna, the son of the late William and Ida May Hart. He was an honorably discharged Army veteran of the Korean War, having served in the 1st Advance platoon of the 6th medical depot as a medical supply specialist.
Mr. Hart had been employed as a mechanic for Rothwells Garage, Smyrna, for many years. He had also worked for the Townsend Granary and Rothwell s Granary, Smyrna. He and his late wife operated a landscaping company, Harts of Delaware, Inc., for 15 years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 14, Smyrna, and he enjoyed wrestling.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Maggie R. Hart, in 1995; and two sons, Robert D. Hart in 1977 and Ronald Hart in 1958.
He is survived by a son, Randall J. Hart of Dover; three daughters, Linda M. Hart, Helen J. Hart Coburn and Diana L. Hart, all of Clayton; a brother, Homer Hart, of Newtown Square, Pa.; three sisters, Mabel Schmitt of Greensboro, Md., Bertha Bye of Avondale, Pa. and Helen Breeding of Viola; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held July 10 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna.
Interment was in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.
