Mr. Garton was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Millington, Md., son of the late James L. and Lillian (Wallace) Garton.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army in 1946, he returned to Delaware and worked as a truck driver on the construction of the Chesapeake City Bridge.
On one Friday the 13th in 1948, he began working for Anchor Motor Freight in Newport as a yardman. He was a dedicated and valued employee of Anchor for 38 years. He also was a proud member of the Teamster s Union, Local 326.
In addition to his job, Mr. Garton loved to keep his yard neat, his cars and trucks sparkling clean and talk about the animals that he had as a youth. More then once he entertained his family with his story of dressing up his pet dog and sitting him down at the breakfast table just to aggravate his mother, to whom he was devoted. He was loved by many dear friends and family and will be greatly missed. His kind hearted spirit will be remembered by those who were blessed to know him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved son, John Keith; two brothers, William and Franklin; and three sisters, Edna, Helen and Marian.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Agnes Cochran Garton; three daughters and a son-in-law, Mary Anne Larsen of Dover, Barbara Garton and Alfred Erskine of Newark and Helen Elizabeth Garton of Germantown, Md.; a son, John Dilks Garton Jr. of Middletown; four grandchildren, John Eric Larsen, Theodore M. Larsen, Brian M. Erskine and Cameron E. Garton; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Williamson of Wilmington.
Services were held on June 19 at Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.
Burial followed at Galena Cemetery in Galena, Md.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph s Parish Building Fund, P.O. Box 630, Middletown, DE 19709-0630.
Thelma (Emerson) Biddle
She was born on April 25, 1937, daughter of the late Elmer and Belle Emerson.
Mrs. Biddle was a wonderful babysitter to many and loved her family gatherings and NASCAR.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Ira Emerson and William Emerson
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Lester I.C. Bucky Biddle; three daughters and three sons-in-law, Barbara and Marvin Samson, Thelma Mae and Chris Charles and Ranee Lucy and Warren Truman; a son, Charles Biddle; five very special grandchildren, Christopher Charles, Brandon Charles, Kyle Charles, Dylan Lucy and Bryan Lucy; a sister and a brother-in-law, Nancy and Jos Rosario; four brothers and four sister-in-laws, Allan and Lois Emerson, Robert and Sarah Emerson, Jerry and Phyllis Emerson, and Jimmy and Debbie Emerson, all of Middletown; a host of nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Anna Wooleyhan.
Services were held on June 20 at the Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.
Burial was in Townsend Cemetery.

Richard A. Pops Havens
Mr. Havens was born on Jan. 19, 1940, in Delaware City, son of the late Archibal and Anna Robinson Havens.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He was employed with Deemer s Steel for many years until the plant closed. He later worked as a maintenance supervisor at Delaware Park until his retirement in 2000.
Mr. Havens was a loving father to his four children and a dad to many. His grandchildren were what he lived for, loving them all in his special way.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Francis Havens of New Castle and Spc. Patrick and Michelle Havens of Newark; two daughters and a son-in-law, Valerie Wilkins of Middletown and Carlotta and John Lovell of Wilmington; five brothers, George, with whom he shared his home, James of Kirkwood, Dennis of Bear, Frank of Delaware City and Archie of Newark; a sister, Betty Murphy of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Joseph, Dezere, Cheyanne, Malik, Shane, Anna and Alexia; and host of nieces and nephews.
Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be private in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

Dorothy R. (Harrington) Leger
Mrs. Leger was born on Jan. 7, 1926, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late John J. and Emilia (Frank) Harrington.
She had been a homemaker and was devoted to her family.
Mrs. Leger enjoyed poetry, music, board games and traveling.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Leger Sr., in 2005.
She is survived by four sons and four daughters-in-law, Robert A. Jr. and Janice Leger of Orlando, Fla., Richard E. and Ann Leger of Haddon Heights, N.J., Stephen J. and Erika Leger of Middletown and Michael R. and Denise Leger of Aston, Pa.; a daughter and a son-in-law, Marianne and Fred Null of Claymont; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was offered on June 20 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Newark.
Burial was in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
William F. Nickerson, Jr.
Mr. Nickerson was born on April 24, 1933, in Chesapeake City, Md., son of the late William F. Sr. and Florence Ferguson Nickerson.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
He was employed by Sears for 26 years, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Nickerson enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood working, crafts and traveling on cruise ships.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew, George Schrader.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Rebecca Bailey Nickerson; a brother and a sister-in-law, Robert J. and Bernice Nickerson of Elkton, Md.; 11 nephews, Jeff Nickerson, Earl Nickerson, James A. Bailey and William Schrader, all of Earleville, Curtis Nickerson of Sunrise, Fla., Francis W. Bailey, Franklin Bailey and James J. Bailey, all of Middletown, Michael Bailey of Newark, Stanley Bailey of New Castle and William Bailey of Cecilton, Md.; and eight nieces, Lisa Rhodes of Chesapeake City, Linda Hicks of Roswell, Ga., Rebecca Styers of Kings Mt., N.C., Carolyn Subolefsky of Earleville, Linda Sturebing of Spotsylvania, Va., Betty Lloyd of Newark, Debra Bigelow of Fredericksburg, Va., and Barbara Waddell of Dumfries, Va.
Services will be held at a later date.

Ethel M. Adams
Ethel M. Adams, of Lincoln, formerly of Smyrna, died Monday, June 10, 2002 at Green Valley Pavilion, Smyrna. She was 94.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth Adams. She moved to Delaware in 1940.
Mrs. Adams lived on a farm near Smyrna for many years, and moved to Lincoln approximately 10 years ago. She was a homemaker, and former member of St. Polycarp Parish, Smyrna.
She is survived by three brothers, William Adams of Lincoln; Clarence Adams of Smyrna; and Walter Adams of Capitola, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held June 14 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Smyrna.
Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be sent to the St. Polycarp Parish Building Fund, 135 Ransom Lane, Smyrna, DE 19977.
Arrangements were by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna.
Naomi R. Palmer
Naomi R. Palmer, formerly of New Castle, died Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. She was 83.
Mrs. Palmer was a member of the Eastern Star Lodge Five Points Chapter in Newport.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Palmer, in 1992.
She is survived by two sons, Roger L. Palmer (Marla) of Middletown and Richard E. Palmer of The Hague, Holland; a brother, Melvin Horm of Silver Springs, Md.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were private.
Interment was in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Minquadale.

Josephine Martin
Josephine Martin, of Middletown, died Sunday, June 9, 2002 at the St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. She was 76.
She was a member of the Middletown Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mrs. Martin retired from the Delaware Home and Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna. She was also a member of the M.O.T. Senior Center and enjoyed making ceramic artwork.
She is survived by her husband, Ellis Franklin; and three sons, Donald Fields of Middletown, Matthew Hazzard of Woodbury, N.J. and Victor Martin of Mt. Shasta, Calif.; a goddaughter, Sherry Waters; her grandchildren, Victor, Jr., Tonya and Shawn; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clinton Fields of Townsend and Marshall Fields of Warwick, Md.; four sisters, Audrey Walker, Doris Waters, Gloria Jefferson, all of Middletown and Nellie Wilson of Warwick, Md.; two aunts; three sisters-in-law; three brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family.
Services were held June 14 at the Middletown Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Middletown.
Interment was in the Bohemia Manor Cemetery, Chesapeake City, Md.
Arrangements by the Bell Memorial Chapel.
Georgie H. Lucas
Georgie H. Lucas, of Middletown, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 16, 2002 at her home. She was 84.
Mrs. Lucus was a homemaker and enjoyed reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Lucus, in 1982.
She is survived by a daughter, T. Kay Brown of Wilmington; two stepsons, John Lucus, of Harrison, Ohio and Robert Lucus, of Lewes; and two granddaughters, Beverly Brown and Ashlee Brown.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 21, at St. Georges Cemetery, Kirkwood-St. Georges Rd., St. Georges.

Anthony J. Greloch
Anthony J. Greloch, of Townsend, died Saturday June 15, 2002 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, after a long struggle with cancer. He was 63.
Mr. Greloch retired in 2000 from the Delaware Department of Corrections after more than 39 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, working in his garden, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia Greloch; two sons, Gregory S. Greloch (Laura) of Walnutport, Pa. and Darrin K. Greloch (Christina) of Dover; a daughter, Brenda Greloch, of Dover; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Christina, D.J., Erika, and Megan.
Services were held June 18 at St. Polycarp Catholic Church, Smyrna.
Interment was private.

Ann Bayard Pool
Ann Bayard Pool died Tuesday, June 11, 2002 at Millcroft, Newark.
She was the daughter of the late Jefferson Foard and Grace Brady Pool of Wilmington and Middletown.
Ms. Pool was a graduate of Wilmington Friends School and Moravian College. She was very fond of music and had been active in the Brandywiners and the Wilmington Opera Society.
She was a longtime member of the Trinity Episcopal Church and more recently, St. Anne's in Middletown.
She is survived by two sisters, Rebecca Pool Button of Hockessin and Barbara P. Williams of Elkton, Md.; an aunt, Betty Moll of Easton, Md.; and nieces and nephews.
Services and interment was private.

Joseph Francis Frisch, Jr.
Joseph Francis Frisch, Jr. of Newark died suddenly Wednesday, June 12, 2002. He was 28.
Mr. Frisch was born Nov. 18, 1973 in Delaware County, Pa. to Joseph F. and Kathleen A. Frisch. He was owner of the Nu Janitorial Cleaning Service, which was a family run business. He attended Christiana High School and participated in the Junior Achievement Program for three years.
Mr. Frisch was a 1996 graduate of James H. Groves High School. He was presently attending the Delaware Technical Community College and received certificates in Automotive, Electricity, Electronics and Engine repair. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles and was a boating and music enthusiast.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Annunciata Casini.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by two brothers, Rick and Thomas; his grandfather, Mario Casini of Earleville, Md.; an uncle, Rick Casini (Pam) of Brookhaven, Pa.; three aunts, Nancy Davis of Newark, Donna Fracione of Havertown, Pa. and Joanne Chest (Anthony) of Philadelphia, Pa.; two nieces, Rebecca and Megan; and a nephew, Nicholas.
Services were held June 17 at Chandler Funeral Home, Wilmington and June 18 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Wilmington.
Interment was in St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, Pa.

Bertha C. Davis
Bertha C. Davis, of Middletown, formerly of Wilmington, died Monday, June 10, 2002 at Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 71.
Mrs. Davis was the class salutatorian of Georgetown High School in 1949. She was a homemaker and had worked for the Diamond State Telephone as an operator. She was a member of ARC and DARC.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her son, William H. Davis, IV, in 2000.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, William H. Davis, III; a daughter, Charlene E. Davis of Lexington, Ky.; two brothers, Frank Conaway (Sallie) and Bill Conaway (Regina), both of Georgetown; and a sister, Mary Ellen Carey, also of Georgetown.
Services were held June 15 in the Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, Middletown.
Interment was in the Townsend Cemetery, Townsend.
Ronnie Lee Donovan
Ronnie Lee Donovan, of Townsend, died Saturday, June 15, 2002 at Christiana Hospital, Newark due to injuries sustained from a construction accident. He was 26.
Mr. Donovan was born Dec. 7, 1975 in Elkton, Md., the son of Mary Jones Lewis of Felton and Lindsey and Roxann Donovan of Massey, Md. He enjoyed the outdoors, deer and goose hunting, fishing, traveling, cooking and all types of music. Mr. Donovan was an organ donor.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Howard Donovan, Jr.; and his maternal grandparents, Walter and Cora Jones.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife of four years, Tina Grau Donovan; two sons, Hunter and River Donovan; four stepchildren, Aili, Haili, Corey and James Dakota, all of Odessa; four brothers, Rocky Donovan and Jake Mitchell, both of Odessa, Jay Price of Elkton, Md. and Paul Price of Harrington; three sisters, Paula Donovan of Dover, JoAnne Donovan of Chestertown, Md. and Laura Leeann Woods of Elkton, Md.; paternal grandmother, Anne Donovan of Sassafras, Md.; step grandmother, Mary Lacey Sutton of Massey, Md.; a great aunt and uncle, Louise and Robert Donovan of Middletown; and other family.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, June 21 at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 188 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
Interment will be in Rehoboth Church Cemetery, Sassafras, Md.
