Mrs. Jones had worked for the Sperry Rand Co., where she was employed as an office manager, retiring after many years of dedicated service. Mrs. Jones had been a member of the Green Hill Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. She also had a membership in the AARP Claymont and Concord Manor chapters. Mrs. Jones was a member of the Women's Century Club of Wilmington and the Salvation Army Auxiliary. For 14 years, Idella volunteered at the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children. Mrs. Jones enjoyed many summers at her beach house in Fenwick Island.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin C. Jones, who passed away in 1976; her brother, Charles Kennedy; sister, Marion Kennedy; stepson, Harold; and stepdaughter, Shirley. Survivors include her sister, Eva K. Sawicki, of Concord Manor; niece, Suzanne L. Jacobs, of Middletown; nephew, Robert L. Sawicki; three step-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held May 13 in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park., New Castle. Burial was in the adjoining memorial park.

Alice Louise Merkel
Born in Linden, N.C., on January 16, 1930, Mrs. Merkel was the daughter of late Roland Thornton and Bertha Mason Thornton. She was a talented homemaker and also worked for Acme market in Middletown for 11 years. Mrs. Merkel was a member of Holy Family Parish.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, William J. Merkel, Sr.; four children, Sharon Merkel-Dugan, and her husband, Jay, of Williamstown, N.J.; William J. Merkel, Jr., and his wife, Janet, of Atlanta, Ga.; Robert H. Merkel, and his wife, Maureen, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Roxanne Merkel-Johnson, and her husband, Robert, of Newark; brother, Eugene Thornton, of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, John, Jay, William J. III, Melissa, Bradley, Tina, Elizabeth, Lynne and Matthew; and great-grandson, baby Ethan.
The family would like to thank the staff of Compassionate Care Hospice for the gentle care they gave Mrs. Merkel during her illness.
Mass of Christian Burial was offered May 16 at Holy Family R.C. Church, Newark. Interment followed in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Amanda Cosner-McMullen
Amanda was born and raised in Townsend. She graduated from Hodgson Vo-Tech in 2003, where she earned several awards, plaques and certificates for her work in auto body. She was currently employed by Silver Hill Custom Builders of Rehoboth Beach. She had also worked at the Happy Harry s in Middletown.
Amanda was preceded in death by her cousin, Mathew Cosner, in 2004. She is survived by her loving family, parents, Spencer and Caroline Cosner; one sister, Bonnie Cosner; one brother, Spencer Bud Cosner, Jr.; and her nephew, Jason Punkin Cosner, all of Townsend. She is also survived and loved by her estranged husband, Jason McMullen; and her companion, Steve Burkie; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services were held May 17 at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home in Middletown. Interment was in the Townsend Cemetery.
Adeline Butler
She was known by many as Adeline, Mom-Mom, grandmother and Skippy. She was famous for her sticky buns, yeast rolls and cherry rolypoly. She was a loving grandmother and devoted wife and a lifelong resident of Middletown where she raised five children. She is a member of Summit United Methodist Church. Her family and friends will miss her and love her always.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles James Butler; and her eldest son, Charles James Butler, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Francis Echtemeyer; sons, Edward and Roger Butler; daughters, Maria McFall and Barbara Butler; 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A funeral service was held on May 14 at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home in Middletown. Interment was in the Bethel Cemetery, near Chesapeake City, Md., where she will be laid to rest beside her husband of more than 50 years.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that friends would donate a teddy bear that will be given to a children's hospital following Mrs. Butler's services.
Cecilia T. Ashworth-Simpler
Cecilia was born and raised in North Wilmington, daughter of Walter C. Ashworth and the late Mary Evelyn Ashworth, graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1975, and had made Clayton her home for the past three years. Cecilia was a member of St. Helena's Church. She was an avid history scholar, studying Egyptology extensively, and she also enjoyed traveling. Cecilia believed her children were her proudest accomplishment in life. Cecilia was a phone center manager for the DEXSTA Federal Credit Union.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Evelyn Ashworth, in 1982; and her brother, Walter E. Ashworth, in 1980. Cecilia will be sadly missed by her beloved husband, Thomas Simpler; her children, daughter, Sondra T. Zych, and son, Jason R. Zych, both of Wilmington; stepson, Seth T. Simpler, of Clayton; father, Walter C. Ashworth, of Townsend; and brother, Joseph Sullivan, of Wilmington.
Services were held May 17 at Beeson Memorial Services, Wilmington. Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery.
In her memory, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice Inc., 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
Henry I. O Neal
Mr. O Neal was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Agnes, and a son Mark E. O Neal. His greatest joy over the last five years were his children, grandchildren, and friends visits. He also loved to sit out in front of his house and wave to cars going down the road.
He was very popular with his friendly smile and wave. Many people stopped with cookies for him just to thank him for welcoming them home after a day at work and so many were concerned when he was not outside. He is survived by two sons, James (Dick) O Neal, of Middletown, and Fred (Butch) O Neal, of Mt. Pleasant; two daughters, Anna (Judy) Martin, of Elkton, Md., and Betty Mae O Neal, of Townsend; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at noon on Saturday, May 21, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., where friends may call one hour before the services. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery, near Port Penn.
William Evans
Born February 8, 1945, in Bluefield, W.Va., to the late George and Clara Evans, he was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Army. Known in high school as Jose, he was a great jokester and always had something to laugh about. He was an electrician by trade and worked at the DuPont Experimental Station for 20 years before retiring in the summer of 2004. He enjoyed buying and rehabbing houses, watching his daughters ride horses, working with his hands, and extensive traveling throughout the world.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Ava Brooks and Muriel Hall; and brothers, Gerald Evans, Roelf Evans, Tracey Evans and Ronald Evans. He is survived by his two daughters, C. Michelle Whewell, and her husband, Scott Whewell, Sr., of Greensboro, Md., and Rebecca A. Saxton, and her husband, Daniel J. Saxton, Sr., of Townsend; a sister, Dorothea Pullen, of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Hobart Evans, and his wife, Evelyn, of St. Augustine, Fla.; and brother-in-law, William C. Brooks, Sr. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Tyler, Natalie and Adam DeWitt; longtime companion, Dr. Marsha Ross; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held May 18 at the Gebhart Funeral Home. Burial was in the Cherry Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery in Elkton, Md.
John Reynolds
Jack retired as a Captain from the City of Wilmington Fire Dept. in 1980 after 18 years of service. He then worked in sales and marketing of hardwood flooring products in the Wilmington area until retiring in 2001. Jack was a member of the Delaware National Guard and was a longtime member of St. Elizabeth s Church. Jack enjoyed bluegrass music, traveling and spending time with his grandsons. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.
Jack was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Reynolds, Sr., in 2001. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Joanne V. Frati Reynolds; his son, Jack Reynolds, Jr., and his wife, Brenda, of Downingtown, Pa.; his daughter, Julie Willey, and her husband, Dan, of Middletown; his mother, Ruth Reynolds, of Greenwood; and his brother, Leonard Reynolds, Jr., of Milford. He also leaves to cherish his memory his grandsons, Tyler, Danny, Josh and Jason; as well as special friends and other family members.
A Mass of Christian burial was offered on May 16 at St. Elizabeth s Church, Wilmington. Burial was in Cathedral Cemetery on Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington.
The family suggests contributions in Jack s memory to St. Elizabeth s Church.
Robert and Rose Annand
Bob spent his life loving his children and family. This life was further enhanced when he married Rose, and Brittany became his daughter. They were a very special and beautiful addition to the family. Bob and Rose loved camping, fishing, hunting and long walks together. They raised goats and chickens and watched sunsets. Bob was also a proud member of the NRA, while Rose loved cooking, sewing and raising her daughter. May God bless and hold you in the hollow of his hand. You both will be missed.
Friends may call Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown. Services of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, May 19, at noon in St. Joseph s Catholic Church, 115 Cleaver Farm Road, off Del. 299 in Middletown. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.

Arie Auly Catherine Hill
Miss Hill was a well-known elementary school teacher for more than 40 years in the Smyrna area. She was a graduate of the Middletown Academy, Class of 1928, and also the University of Delaware. She taught at several small public schools in southern New Castle County, including Deakyneville, Taylor s Bridge and Odessa. She began teaching elementary school in the Smyrna School District in 1945 and retired in 1972 from Smyrna Elementary. Miss Hill was active in the North Kent Parish of the Episcopal Church. Her interests included keeping up with literally hundreds of former students and sharing her extensive knowledge of her family's history. Friends will recall her fondness for conversation and discussion of current events. Miss Hill was the daughter of Auly Lore Hill and Catherine Elizabeth Lockerman Hill.
She was predeceased by three sisters and leaves no immediate survivors. Graveside services will be held on Friday, May 20, at 1 p.m., in the Townsend Cemetery. There will be no viewing.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union St., Smyrna, DE 19977.
Lester Frederick Garey Jr.
Mr. Garey was born June 5, 1951, in Easton, Md., son of Barbara Turner Garey and the late Lester F. Garey Sr.
He was a 1970 graduate of North Caroline High School.
Mr. Garey was a carpenter, but worked as a waterman in his earlier years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and looking for arrowheads.
Mr. Garey was an active member of Jehovah s Witnesses, where he served as a congregation elder for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Adele Alfree Garey; a son and a daughter-in-law, Ross F. and Ashley Garey of Denton; a daughter and a son-in-law, Dana Randall Rodriguez of Greensboro, Md.; two granddaughters, whom he dearly loved, Marissa Rodriguez and Calie Garey; his mother, Barbara Garey of Easton; a brother and a sister-in-law, David B. and Kim Garey of Denton; and many relatives and friends.
Services will be held on Sunday, May 20, at 1:30 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah s Witnesses, 29250 Skipton Landing Rd, Cordova, MD 21625.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Jehovah s Witnesses or the Caroline Home for Hospice.
George C. Dutton
Mr. Dutton was born on March 22, 1924, in Mt. Pleasant, son of the late Charles P. and Lucy (Stevenson) Dutton.
He worked for Miller s Furniture in Newport, from where he retired after 30 years of dedicated service.
Mr. Dutton was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan and enjoyed fishing and spending many summers at the beach. He loved to play bingo, cards and especially enjoyed playing a variety of the Delaware lottery scratch-off tickets. Spending time with his family was one of his greatest joys in life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ella Dutton, in December, 1977; his second wife of 27 years, Mildred Harper Dutton, on April 18, 2006; six brothers, Howard Dutton, Paul Dutton, Roger Dutton, Wilson Dutton, Donald Dutton and Stidham Dutton; and a sister, Bea Haas.
He is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, William C. Jr. and Beatrice Harper of Newark and Richard F. and Cindy Harper of Florida; four devoted daughters and care providers and three sons-in-law, Millie and Bill O Neal, Barbara and John Sinsabaugh Sr. and Betty Breeding, all of Middletown, and Joan and Dickie Reed of Georgia; a brother and a sister-in-law, William and Eleanor Dutton of Wilmington; a granddaughter whom Mr. and Mrs. Dutton raised, Kristina Sweetman of Middletown; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heartland Hospice Services for the wonderful care provided to their father.
Funeral services were held on May 15, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.
Burial was in Townsend Cemetery.

Betty R. Morrow
She was a retired secretary and had worked at Aberdeen Proving Ground, University of Delaware and Governor Bacon Health Center.
Mrs. Morrow enjoyed dancing and being a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Halus and Mary Hudson Reynolds.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, William Bill Morrow; a daughter, Lois J. Thornton of Chandler, Ariz,; a grandson, Thomas W. Thornton of Middletown; a great-grandson, Anthony Thornton of Newark; six siblings, Carrie Olewine, Linton Reynolds, Leone Johnston, Charlene McCulley, all of Elkton, Md., Mary Ann Spence and Nancy Hopkins, both of Earleville, Md.; and her dog, Mitzy.
Services were held on May 11 at Hicks Home for Funerals, Elkton.
Burial followed in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, c/o the funeral home.
Nicholas William DiLullo
Mr. DiLullo was born on Dec. 31, 1937, in Philadelphia, son of the late William DiLullo and Antoinette (Georgio) DiLullo Stea.
His father died when he was a child and he was raised by his mother and beloved stepfather, Peter Stea.
As a young man, he joined the U.S. Navy and served for four years in the Philippines as an Electrician Specialist. He was extremely gregarious and gifted, and was successful at a number of endeavors throughout his lifetime. He sold hoses in Eddystone, Pa., owned a sandwich shop in Lester, Pa., and worked as a welder at the Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia. He eventually returned to serving his country as a Government Inspector of helicopters at Boeing in Ridley Park, Pa., where he worked until retirement in 2003.
He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. He and his wife, Sandy, spent many happy summers on the Chesapeake and Jersey Shores boating and camping. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, crabbing and exploring. He also took great pride in the training of his devoted German Shepherd, Attila.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his adored wife of 45 years, Sandra Ann (Ward) DiLullo, in June 2005.
He is survived by three daughters and three sons-in-law, Elizabeth and John Flynn of Wilmington; Lisa and Christopher Fulvio of Townsend and Gloria and Dale Mathews of Wilmington; nine grandchildren, Sean Flynn, Sarah Flynn, Cole Flynn, Ethan Flynn, Giavonna Fulvio, Gabriella Fulvio, Jessica Mathews, Madeline Mathews and Alaina Mathews; a sister, Gloria Carmella DiLullo of Ridley Park, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Albany and her husband, Frank, of Newark; and two brothers-in-law, Frank Ward and his wife, Vicky, of Essington Pa., and James Ward of Coatesville Pa.
Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Francis Xavier Shrine Old Bohemia, near Warwick, Md. on May 14.
Burial with military honors was at Delaware Veteran s Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Charles E. Charlie Wheeler Sr.
Mr. Wheeler was born Sept. 13, 1935 in Smyrna, son of the late B. Franklin and Mildred Wheeler.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator for New Castle County for the past 36 years.
Mr. Wheeler enjoyed NASCAR and was an avid fan of the late Dale Earnhardt Sr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Millie Wheeler-Satterfield; and two brothers; Robert Wheeler and Ronnie Wheeler.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Mary Wheeler of Middletown; a daughter and a son-in-law, Mary E. and Steve Watson; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Frank and Dorris Wheeler, Tom and Lynda Wheeler, Jeff Wheeler and Charles Wheeler Jr.; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Norman and Pauline Wheeler and Edward Wheeler; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held on May 14 at the Faries Funeral Chapel, Smyrna.
Burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.

Howard Linden Donovan III
Mr. Donovan was born on Feb. 19, 1938, in Sassafras, Md. He was the son of Anne Robinson Donovan and the late Howard L. Donovan Jr.
He was a 1956 graduate of Galena High School and received his Journeyman s degree from Chesapeake College.
He was employed as a machinist for Dixon Value and Coupling for 10 years.
Mr. Donovan enjoyed playing the guitar and country music.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Donovan.
He is survived by his mother, Anne Donovan of Sassafras; an aunt, Ellen Bowman of Great Mills, Md.; an uncle, Robret Donovan of Middletown; his wife of 32 years, Alice Willson Donovan; her daughter and son-in-law, April and Dave Ellis of Golts, Md.; the mother of his children, Mary Galt of Chestertown; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Howard Donnie IV and Maude Donovan of Clayton, Stephen E. and Valerie Donovan of Rock Hall and Michael P. Donovan of Chestertown; a twto daughters and two sons-in-law, Betty Jean and Mike Treadwell of Gates, N.C., and Deanna and Greg Lamphere of Germantown, Md.; a brother, Lindsay Donovan of Massey; two sisters, Elizabeth Short of Chestertown and Jeannette Reynolds of Sassafras; 21 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held on Friday, May 18, at 1 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in St. Stephen s Cemetery, Earleville.
John F. Jack Grezlikowski Jr.
Mr. Grezlikowski was born on Jan. 31, 1931, in Wilmington, son of the late John F. and Rose (Rucinski) Grezlikowski.
He was a 1948 graduate of Wilmington High School and the former Goldey College.
In his teenage years, he played the accordion in a band, a talent he maintained through the years, often entertaining his grandchildren with his music.
Mr. Grezlikowski was employed for 42 years as a research technician in the Pioneering Research Division of the Textiles Fibers Department of the DuPont Company at the Experimental Station.
He retired in 1992 and then enjoyed fifteen years of downstate living, especially fishing, crabbing, boating and relaxing.
Mr. Grezlikowski was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Catholic Church in Millsboro and the Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree, Bishop James C. Burke Council No. 11285.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ann E. (Formus) Grezlikowski; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Judith and Victor Hudson of Newark and Jeanne and Glenn Morris of Middletown; and son and a daughter-in-law, John F. III and Donna Grezlikowski of Oviedo, Fla.; six grandchildren, Kelly Hudson, James Hudson, Jeffrey Hudson, Christopher Hudson, Kristen Grezlikowski and Michael Grezlikowski; a great-grandson, Anthony James Hudson; and a brother, Edmund Grezlikowski of Millsboro.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Elizabeth s Church, Wilmington, on May 12.
Burial was in All Saints Cemetery.
