She was a life long resident of Wilmington.
Mrs. Kosek was a homemaker and a member of St. Hedwig Catholic Church and its Holy Rosary Society.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Vincent J. Kosek; a son and a daughter-in-law, Eugene V. and Kathleen Kosek of Huntsville, Ala.; a daughter and a son-in-law, Marcia and Ron Czajkowski of Middletown; a twin brother and a sister-in-law, Walter F. and Irene Marchlewski; five grandchildren, E. Vincent Kosek Jr., Kevin A. Kosek, David J. Kosek, Marybeth Czajkowski and Elaine Payne and her husband, David.; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was on May 8 at St. Hedwig RC Church.
Entombment was in the crypt of St. Elizebeth Ann Seton Cathedral Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Hedwig Church, 408 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, DE 19805.

Marie Ann Marquess
She was born in Wilmington, daughter of the late Franklin E. and Agnes (Heaphy) Welch.
Mrs. Marquess was a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James D. Marquess Sr., in 1989.
She is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Rosemarie Wooters of Middletown, Carolyn McClafferty of Millsboro, Bernice and Raymond Stonebridge of Chance, Md., and Annette and Henry L. Read, with whom she resided; three sons and three daughters-in-law, James D. Jr. and Mary Jill of Fort Myers, Fla., John F. and Bonnie of Marquette, Miss., and Eugene R. and Letetia of Middletown; 36 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandsons; a sister, Mildred C. Blakely of Newark; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 4, at 11 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 345 Bear Christiana Road, Bear, where friends may call at 9:30 a.m.
Burial will be at All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, Inc., 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE, 19947.

Ella R. (Sutliff) Masters
Mrs. Masters was born in Nanticoke, Pa., and graduated from Nanticoke High School
She married and moved to Delaware in 1955. She was a homemaker for many years then joined the workforce as a secretary for Geriatric Services of Delaware until her retirement. For many years, she was active in rescuing abandoned animals.
Mrs. Masters was a member of St. John s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Newark.
She is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Marilyn S. and James L. Hoban III of Townsend and Carolyn E. and Erick Glover of Newark.
Services were held on May 9 at 7 the McCrery Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Humane Society, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.
Nina L. McNatt
Mrs. McNatt was born on Sept. 2, 1934, in Dover, daughter of the late Buck and Alice (Shockley) Willey.
She worked many years at the Smyrna Diner, General Clothing and at Harris in Smyrna.
Mrs. McNatt was an avid bingo player.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Harry Willey and Eugene Willey; and two sisters, Harriet Smith and Olive Lawrence.
She is survived by three sons, Jimmy Hartegan of Townsend, Dale Hartegan of Louisiana and David McNatt of Smyrna; a daughter and a son-in-law, Rita Szymanski of and Dan Hartly; four grandchildren, Heather Szymanski and D.J. Szymanski, both of Hartly, Dale Hartegan Jr. and Mary Hartegan, both of Louisiana; two very dear friends, Dot of Dover and Millie of Townsend; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Burial and services will be private as per Mrs. McNatt s request.
She will be laid to rest next to her parents in Townsend Cemetery.
John W. Pop Pop Mullen
Mr. Mullen was born, lived and worked his entire life in Delaware and was a graduate of Middletown High School.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, crabbing, training his dogs and sports.
Mr. Mullen was a member of the Four Seasons Motorcycle Club and Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Betty Lou; three children and a son-in-law, Jeff Mullen and fianc e, Crystal Sherman and Shane Mullen, both of Delaware, and Amy and Dane Gasio of Oklahoma; 12 loving grandchildren; his mother, Mary E. Mullen; three sisters, Patricia Anderson, Eleanor Rawley and Jacqui Reardon, all of Delaware; a brother, James Mullen Jr. of Virginia; a cousin and a cousin-in-law, William Smokey and Dot Smith; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call Thursday, May 10, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.
Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, May 11, at 1 p.m. at (Old Bohemia) St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, on Church Road, Warwick, Md.
Burial will be in Townsend Cemetery.
John Westley Simmons III
Mr. Simmons was born on Sept. 15, 1968, son of John W. Jr. and Shirley (Gregg) Simmons.
He was a 1986 graduate of Smyrna High School.
He was an International Boilermaker for the past 18 years. Most recently, he went to work for Local 13 in Bristol, Pa.
Mr. Simmons enjoyed reading and rock climbing. He was a history buff who especially enjoyed hiking and exploring local battlefields. Riding bicycles and playing video games with his family were two of his favorite passions. He loved riding his new motorcycle with his wife. He loved his family, his wife and especially his children. He was a devoted and dedicated father. His children were his greatest joys in life. He was a true friend to those around him and he would help anyone.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Missy Simmons, on Aug. 28, 1993.
He is survived by his parents; his wife, Tonia Ann Simmons of Clayton; a daughter, Arianna Roberta Simmons of Clayton; a son, Benjamin Edward Simmons of Clayton; a sister, Brandi Mae Simmons of Hartly; a brother and a sister-in-law, Aaron Daniel Danny Sr. and Elizabeth Simmons of Marydel, Md.; three nieces and nephews of Marydel; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends who will all miss him forever.
Services were held on May 9 t the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.
Burial was in Townsend Cemetery.

Alberta Prichett
Alberta Pritchett of Dover died Sunday, May 5, 2002 at Kent General Hospital in Dover. Her legal age was 95, but it is believed through family research that she was actually 101.
Born in Delaware, Mrs. Pritchett is the last surviving child of the late Walter Ridgeway, Sr. and Rhoda Palmer, both of Sussex County.
She attended a Seventh Day Adventist school in Baltimore, Md. for four years. After returning to Delaware, she met the late Howard Pritchett whom she married on June 6, 1920.
Mrs. Pritchett enjoyed growing flowers and vegetables and canning fruits.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son; a grandson, William H. Parrish, Sr.; a son-in-law, William M. Parrish, Jr.; six sisters; and five brothers.
She is survived by two daughters, Marion L. Parrish of Bensalem, Pa. and Dolly Morris of Dover; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; a great-great great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews including Elsie Carney of Dover, Elena Harmon Street and Betty Harmon Street, both of Millsboro; and many cousins.
Services were held May 10 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, Smyrna.
Interment was in the Immanuel Union Church Cemetery, Cheswold.

Ernest Smith Faulkner
Ernest Smith Faulkner of Dover died Friday, May 10, 2002 at his home. He was 77.
Mr. Faulkner was born Aug. 22, 1924 in Templeville, Md., the son of the late Roland and Elma Schultz Faulkner.
Since 1969, Mr. Faulkner owned Faulkner s Store in Hartly. He retired in 1989 but was still active in the daily running of the business. He had farmed the Silver Lake Farm in Middletown, Delaware from 1957 until 1969.
He loved family gatherings. For several years he played softball with the Kenton Ruritans softball team and was a member of the Bi-State League Champs in 1953, 1954 and 1955.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Faulkner was preceded in death by four brothers, Roland, Raymond, Wes and Bob; a sister, Bernice Legar; and two special friends, Gary Wertz and Jack Pratt.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Hudson Faulkner; two sons and B. Wayne Faulkner (Mary) of Wassau, Wis. and Jeffrey Ernest Faulkner (DeDe) of Hartly; three daughters, Jacquelyn "Minnie" Wilson (Darryl), Mary E. Lee (Robert Cole) and Carol Lyn Massey (Gordon), all of Dover; two honorary daughters, Anna Greenage and Fannie Dill, both of Dover; a brother, Carl Bruce Faulkner (Mary) of Kenton; two sisters, Cardella Rodenhiser Atkins of Pa. and Bertha Moffett of Dover; 12 grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Marie Faulkner of Clayton and Elizabeth Faulkner of Middletown; a brother-in-law, Willard Legar of Kenton; and many special friends, nieces and nephews.
Services were held May 15 at the Faries Funeral Chapel, Smyrna.
Interment was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Perry Short, Jr.
Perry Short, Jr. of Clayton died Thursday May 9, 2002 at his home. He was 68.
He was born in West Virginia, the son of the late Perry, Sr. and Bessie Mae Short. Mr. Short moved to Delaware in 1962, and has made his home here ever since.
He had worked for seven years at Globe Battery in Middletown, and later was employed by Campbell s Soup in Clayton, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Short enjoyed working on automobiles and spending time with his family.
He was preceded in death by a son, Robert A. Short, Sr.; a brother, Norman Short; and a sister, Irene Little.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Ella M. Short; three daughters, Patricia Lewis (William) of Frederica, Donna Williams (Harry Carino III) of Magnolia and Lynda Short of Smyrna; two brothers, Fred A. Short of Elizabethtown, Tenn. and Marvin Short of Tenn.; three sisters, Helen James of Smyrna, Delores Thomas of Middletown and Gaylene Justus of Lebanon, Va.; nine grandchildren; a special niece, Sonya Lowe of Smyrna; and a special friend who was like a brother to him, Nick Daniels of Clayton.
Graveside services were held May 14 at Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.

Lowell A. Bowman
Lowell A. Bowman of Smyrna died Thursday, May 9, 2002 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He was 73.
He was born in Goodwill, W. Va., the son of the late Silas and Mary Bowman.
Mr. Bowman worked as a truck driver and did construction work for many companies.
He is survived by a daughter, Judy Bonds (Charles) of Beckley, West Va.; three sons, Joe Bowman (Glenda) of Beckley, John Bowman of Va. and Donnie Bowman of N. C.; two sisters, Virgie Elkins and Zenith White, both of Silver Springs, Fla.; five grandchildren, Laura, Scott, Kim, Joseph and Marie, all of W. Va.; eight great-grandchildren; and a special niece, Mary Martin of Bear.
Services and interment were private in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Richard Dick Brown
Richard Brown of Bear died Monday, May 13, 2002 after a brief battle with cancer. He was 73.
Mr. Brown grew up in Montchanin and attended A.I. DuPont High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was the proprietor of the Kirkwood Exxon Service Station at Price s Corner until 1980. He and his wife then operated Fairwind Liquors. Most recently, he was employed as a guard with Gettier Security.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin, Sr. and Rebecca Beahm Brown; three brothers, Marvin, Jr., Paul and Charles; a sister, Alice; and a daughter-in-law, Patty G. Brown.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Gay N. Brown; nine children and step children, Cathy Jones (Ed) of Elsmere, Rick Brown, Sandy O Neill (Brett), Larry Martin (Linda) and Tommy Brown, all of Newark, Jimmy Martin, Jr. (Cyndy) of Warwick, Md., Donnie Martin (Debbie) of New Castle, Bobby Brown (Anne) of Townville, Pa. and Mary Brown of Dover; two brothers, Jimmy of Va. and David of Syracuse, N.Y.; 19 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services will be held Thursday, May 16 at 1 p.m. in the McCrery Memorial Chapel, Kirkwood Highway and Duncan Rd., New Castle.
Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Minquadale, New Castle.

Mary E. Jean Smith
Mary E. Smith of Middletown died Monday, May 6, 2002 at her home. She was 78.
She was preceded in death by a son, H. James Smith, in 1971; and her husband, Henry M. Smith, in 1974.
She is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Robin of Yorklyn and Linda Cramer of Middletown; four sons, David H. Smith (Patricia) of St. Georges, Paul H. Smith (Kathy) of Mount Airy, Md., Michael A. Smith of Hockessin and Timothy Smith (Deirdre) of Newark; a brother, Dick Stanley; 12 grandchildren, Bryan, Jeff, Tae, Matt, Jennifer, Cindy, Jimmy, Genevieve, Julia, Kyle, Daniel and Megan; and three great-grandchildren.
Services and interment were held private.

William D. Beck
William D. Beck of New Castle died Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at his home. He was 78.
Mr. Beck was a carpenter and had been an operations foreman with the former Atlas Chemical Company (now ICI), retiring in 1992 after 20 years of service.
A charter member of Hope Lutheran Church, he was the former president of the church council. Mr. Beck was the former treasurer of Troop #414, Boy Scouts of America and was a member of St. John s Lodge #2, AF & AM, New Castle.
Mr. Beck served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and is a veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife, Audrey E. Oberdorf Beck; three children, William D. Beck, Jr. of Minneapolis, Minn., Scott J. Beck of Middletown and Dianne E. Townsend of Wilmington; four brothers, Roland Beck, Russell Beck, Clarence Beck and David Beck; five sisters, Ruth Clark, Dorothy Smith, Mayona Chebro, Freda Tyson and Ida Hunsinger; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held May 9 at Hope Lutheran Church, New Castle.
Interment with military honors was in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
