Ann Doris Cooper
Mrs. Cooper was born Dec. 20, 1927, in Chichester, Pa., to the late William Thomas Downes and Hattie Downes Cruise. She was a homemaker and a devoted mother and wife to her family.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Vernon and Joe Downes, her sister, Dorothy Downes Elliot, and her stepfather, Theron Cruise. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Paul W. Cooper; her children, Paul A. Cooper, and his wife, Lynnette, of Austin, Texas, Robert T. Cooper, of Niceville, Fla., Keith A. Cooper, and his wife, Beverly, of Newark, and Cheryl A. Rutter, and her husband, David, of Newark; and 10 grandchildren. Also surviving her are her brothers, Thomas Downes, of New Castle, Robert E. Downes, of Orlando Fla., Bernard Downes, and his wife, Joyce, of Central, S.C.; her sisters, Marion Gilchrist, of Long Beach, Calif., Margaret Nelson, of Middletown, Catherine Pierce, of Elsmere, Violet Jean Dalecki, and her husband, Henry, of Newark; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service, conducted by the Rev. James Moore, was held on April 15, at Doherty Funeral Home. Burial was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Vitas Hospice, 100 Commerce Dr., Suite 302, Newark, DE, 19713.
Col. Clifford E. Hall, Jr.
Col. Hall was born on Sept. 1, 1919, in Camp Jackson, S.C., where his father was assigned as an Army Captain, and was raised in Millsboro. On Aug. 26, 1936, shortly before his 17th birthday, he enlisted in the Delaware Army National Guard. Col. Hall was called to active duty in January, 1941, and was commissioned as a second Lieutenant in 1942. A member of the 82nd Airborne Division, he served in North Africa and participated in campaigns in Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. After VE Day, he was part of the Army of the Occupation in Germany before being honorably discharged as a Captain in January, 1946.
Col. Hall rejoined the Army National Guard in 1947. In 1961, he was recalled to active duty as the Director of Selective Service for the State of Delaware and served in that position for 13 years until his retirement in 1974. His numerous awards and decorations over the course of his 38-year military career include the Bronze Star Medal for Valor, Combat Infantryman Badge, Parachute Badge, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with V device, six Battle Stars, and five Overseas bars. In addition to his work with Selective Service, Col. Hall distinguished himself in service of the State of Delaware as the State Auditor, State Election Commissioner, Accountant for the Joint Finance Committee of the General Assembly, Comptroller of the State Highway Department, Secretary of the Department of Highways and Transportation, and member of the State Board of Pardons and the Veterans Bonus Commission. He also served as the military aide to governors Terry, Peterson and Tribbitt.
Col. Hall was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the National Guard Association of the United States, the Reserve Officers Association, the Retired Officers Association, and the American Legion. He was a Democratic Party Committeeman, a former president of the Federation of Democratic Clubs, the former chairman of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and a member of the Lions Club. Besides his many professional accomplishments, Col. Hall was a talented craftsman and enjoyed furniture restoration.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford E. Hall, Sr. and Mary James Hall; a son, Charles H. Hall; 2 brothers, Arthur Hall and Henry Hall; and sister, Mary Brent. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Martha Vineyard Lester Hall; a son, Clifford E. Hall, III, of Irving, Texas; a daughter, Faye L. Russell, of Townsend; and a brother, Owen Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford E. Hall, Sr. and Mary James Hall; a son, Charles H. Hall; two brothers, Arthur Hall and Henry Hall; and sister, Mary Brent.
A service was held on April 20, in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Salvation Army, P.O. Box 308, Wilmington, DE 19899.
George T. Drummond, Sr.
Mr. Drummond was born on April 13, 1929, in West Grove, Pa., son of the late Paul and Mary Emma McKinney Drummond. He had lived in Oxford and New London before moving permanently to Kent County in the 1970s. Mr. Drummond owned GT Enterprise, a contracting business and also Drummond Real Estate. He enjoyed helping others.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Murray Drummond; two sisters, Harriet Drummond and Pauline Cowgill.
Mr. Drummond is survived by a son, George Drummond, Jr., and his wife, Kathy, of Galena, Md.; a brother, Walter Drummond, Sr., of Warwick, Md.; a sister, Frances Newbold, of Raleigh, N.C.; three granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.
The funeral service was held on April 19. Burial was private in Cherry Hill Cemetery.

Martha Evans
She was born in Rocky Mount, N.C., on Sept. 20, 1907, where she attended elementary school. She came to Wilmington in 1918, and spent most of her youth and met her lifelong friend, Rosa J. Peaco. Mrs. Evans graduated from Howard High School, in Wilmington, in 1925 and did her college training at Miner Teachers College, in Washington, D.C., where she received her bachelor's degree in education.
She furthered her education at Teacher's College, Columbia University, where she received her Master of Arts degree in education in 1947. Mrs. Evans has served as a classroom teacher, head teacher, home visitor and supervisor. She became acting principal of Drew-Pyle School in 1956 and later became principal of the Elbert-Palmer School, where she retired in 1973.
She had been active as a leader in the Girl Scouts of Chesapeake Bay, the National Association of University Women, Wilmington Branch, and The Retired Teachers Association-National, State and New Castle County. Mrs. Evans was a charter member of the Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., which she joined in 1942. She was also an active member in Rho Chapter of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., where she served on many committees. During the years of segregated schools, Mrs. Evans was particularly proud of the fact that she started the first girl scout troop for African-American girls in Wilmington and received recognition in the girl scout newsletter last year. Mrs. Evans enjoyed family and friends, traveling and attending community events.
Those who will always cherish her memory are cousins, Sherry White, of Dover, Ada Simmons, of Buttonwood, her two devoted nieces and caregivers, Joyce L. Peaco, of Wilmington, and Doris P. Wiggins, and her husband, Calvin Wiggins, Jr., of Townsend; her nephew, Dr. James W. Peaco, and his wife, Freddie Mae, of Washington, D.C.; great nephews, Jamal H. Wiggins, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and James W. Peaco, III, and his wife, Michelle, of Los Angeles, Calif.; as well as a host of friends. Mrs. Evans' husband, Madison H. Evans, predeceased her.
A service of celebration and triumph for Mrs. Evans was held at Shiloh Baptist Church, in Wilmington, on April 19.
Alberta Skillman
Born in Newport on May 21, 1922, she was the daughter of the late David Wesley and Lidie Hoffecker McCrone Pordham. A graduate of Goldey College in 1943. She was a lifelong member and served as Clerk of Session for Forest Presbyterian Church in Middletown, on the board of directors for the Forest Presbyterian Cemetery, and as executive secretary and bookkeeper for The Lincoln Club of Delaware for more than 50 years. Alberta enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and traveling and loved baking, canning jellies and pickles, catering, and exhibiting in the local craft shows. Bertie will be sadly missed during Middletown's Peach Festival, Forest Church's Christmas Bazaar and Annual Homecoming Dinner.
Her husband, J. Frank Skillman, died in 1967. She is survived by her cousins, Elizabeth Bullen Whitlock and Brian Thompson, both of Florida, Georgia Nunley of Maryland, John H. McDowell, W. Eugene Bullen, Michael L. McDowell, James W. McDowell, Sr., Amy McDowell-Naughton, Mary Lou Reynolds and Janet Louise.
The funeral service was held at Forest Presbyterian Church on April 20. Interment was in Forest Cemetery, Middletown.

Charles J. Chuck Peters
Mr. Peters was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Wilmington at an early age.
He worked for the DuPont Company, petrochemicals division, and later as an international sales manager for the Caribbean region, until his retirement in 1988. An entrepreneur at heart, he fulfilled a lifelong dream to own and operate his own business, TLC Yogurt Company, which he grew to three locations and a distribution center in downtown Wilmington. Since 2001, he worked as a consultant for BDP International in Philadelphia, where he enjoyed his work and treasured the camaraderie of his close friends.
Mr. Peters lived life to the fullest and liked nothing more than a round of golf and enjoying the company of his family and friends. The Peters family wishes to thank the many doctors, nurses and staff of 6B in the Christiana Hospital for their friendship and compassionate care.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Charles J. Peters III, in 1987.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Estelle; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Gary and Cathy Peters and Eric and Francie Peters, all of Middletown; a daughter and a son-in-law, Kristine and Jeff Shannon of Middletown; four grandchildren who gave him and Juanita his greatest joy, Natalie, Kyle, Samantha and Cameron; a brother and a sister-in-law, Robert Peters of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Teresa Jarvis and her husband, Ed, and their son, Brian, all of Magnolia; a cousin, Brenda Hagelstein and her husband, Walter, of Middletown; and a host of friends and other family members who will miss him.
Services were held April 18 in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Cemetery, New Castle.
Entombment was in the adjoining cemetery.

John Kennedy O Neill
Mr. O Neill was born on Dec. 22, 1915, in Newtown Square, Pa., son of William John and Elizabeth McKay O Neill.
He served with distinction as a Private, First Class, and a Military Policeman, in the Third Army, 76th Infantry Division in the European Theater from November, 1943-November, 1945. He received a Bronze Star for meritorious service, as well as two Service stars and a Good Conduct Medal.
He joined the Wilmington Police in 1941, where he served as a member of the Motorcycle Division, and retired in 1961 with the nickname Honest John.
Mr. O Neill was an active member and volunteer for the Delaware Association of Police and the Pushmobile Derby. He also taught woodworking at the Boy s Club of America in Wilmington. He remained busy in retirement, working for more than 20 years at Winterthur Museum and Country Estates, and for another 17 years in security and landscaping in Millsboro.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Miriam (Beird) O Neill, in April 2004; and his eldest son, William, in 1955.
He is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Deborah and Michael Kane of Freehold, NJ; a son and a daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Robin of Middletown; a grandson, Evan of Middletown; two granddaughters, Melissa Connolly of Malverne, N.Y. and Michele Willis of Dallas, Ga.; two great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Services were held on April 16 at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North Dupont Parkway, New Castle.
Burial with military honors was in the adjoining cemetery.

F. Christiana (Wyatt) Murray
Ms. Murray was born on Dec. 22, 1934, daughter of the late Robert S. and Florence C. Murray.
She was a graduate of Middletown High School and Attended Delaware Technical & Community College.
She worked for the duPont Company before raising her family and was also a foster grandparent for the State of Delaware. She also was employed by Ichthyologic Associates and Letica in Middletown, and retired from Schmittinger & Rodriquez law firm in Dover.
Ms. Murray was a member of the Townsend Free Will Baptist. All who knew her will remember her as a hard-working and loyal friend.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, John C. Wyatt, Sr.; a brother William J. Murray; and a granddaughter.
She is survived by five sons and three daughters-in-law, Steven M. and Carrie Wyatt, John C. Jr. and Kay Wyatt, all of Smyrna, Patrick M. and Nancy Wyatt of Clayton, David E. Wyatt of Townsend and William W. Wyatt of Arizona; a daughter and a son-in-law, Jacqueline C. and Duane Grau of Smyrna; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; four sisters, Carolyn M. Shaffner, Patricia A. Barcus, and Sabina Moffitt, all of Townsend, and Elizabeth Henderson of Camden; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, R. Charles Murray of Milton, Bruce B. and Jane Murray of Middletown and Shirley Murray; and a brother-in-law, Wilson Barcus.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 19 in the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church.

Robert R. Stiller
Services were held April 17 at the chapel at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Michael Charles Bierman
Mr. Bierman was raised in Pennsville, N.J., son of Fred E. and Bernice Bierman.
After high school, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and was sent to a war in Vietnam at the young age of 19. Like many others, he came home a fallen hero, and endured many challenges in the years that followed.
Mr. Bierman worked as a Mason with B.A.C. Local 1 DE/PA Union. During his life, he built many ornate structures, corporate buildings, chimneys, fireplaces, stoves, and a brick oven. Michael loved his trade.
Though, at times, his life was difficult, Michael was an over-comer. He found Jesus Christ and his life changed. He met and married his soul mate, Paula Deel. He loved golf, Myrtle Beach and his family.
Mr. Bierman became rich when he found Jesus. All the desires of his heart were met, and God restored all the years tenfold. For 15 years, he and his wife established and led a substance support group called Friends at Faith City Family Church. His love for God enabled him to lead many others to Christ. He believed that that it s not how you start life, but how you finish.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Maria Victoria and Dennis James Delaney and Jessica Michele and Joseph Thomas Mazzone, all of Middletown, and Theresa Millie Bercse of Newark; six wonderful grandchildren, Cassidy Dean Tanner, Brittany Nicole Greb, Isabella Grace Mazzone, Abrianna Marie Delaney, Dominic James-Michael Delaney and Matthew Joseph Mazzone; three siblings, Frederick Bierman and Daniel Bierman, both of New Jersey, and Susan Hiles of Maryland; his faithful friends, Malachi and Luke, his chocolate labradors.
Services were April 14 at Praise Assembly.
Burial was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Susanna L. Cole
Mrs. Cole was born on Sept. 6, 1917, in Ladysmith, Wisc., daughter of the late Frank and Anna Guns.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Cole was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, St. John s Holy Angels Catholic Church and a life member of Delaware City Recreational Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Cole; and a daughter, Susan Lois Martindale.
She is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Charles Jr. and Barbara Cole and Arthur and Dixie Cole, all of Elkton, Md., and Herbert and Becky Cole of Newark; a brother, Francis Guns Sr. of Elkton; nine grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on April 13 at Immaculate Conception Church, Elkton.
Burial was in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Cherry Hill, Md.

Kenneth J. Roach
Mr. Roach was born on Nov. 25, 1951, in Wilmington, son of the late Warren Arnold and Jeannette Benson Roach.
He was last employed with Delaware Industries for the Blind.
Passionate about opera and classical music, Mr. Roach was a member of the Metropolitan Opera Guild and Delmarva Public Radio WSCL. He also was a member of the Delaware Council of the Blind and Visually Impaired (DCBVI).
He is survived by his sister and a brother-in-law, Kathy and Bill Lewis of New Castle; two nieces and two nephews-in-law, Kelly Hamill and Tony Tomczak of New Castle and Vickie and Rick Novello of Odessa; two nephews and a niece-in-law, Bill Lewis Jr. and his companion, Toni Moore, both of New Castle, and Chris and Bonnie Lewis of Odessa; and great-nieces and great-nephews, his best buddy, buddy, buddy Troy Tomczak, Paige Tomczak, Brett Tomczak, Michael Marciano, Jordan Marciano, Kristen Nepi, Ricky Novello, Kassey Novello, Alyssa Novello, Brooke Lewis, Taylor Lewis, Morgan Lewis, Anthony Ball, Christopher McElwee and Emily Lewis; and his longtime friends, Bev, Henry, Randy, Ken and Alfie.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 20 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where friends may call one half hour earlier.

Harry T. Sentman
Mr. Sentman was born on October 7, 1949, in Wilmington, son of the late Price G. and Alice V. Badders Sentman.
He was employed as a chemical operator with Georgia Gulf in Delaware City for 25 years. He later accepted a position as a dock supervisor with Watkins Motorlines in New Castle, where he was employed for the past seven years.
Mr. Sentman will be lovingly remembered as a very hard worker who took great pride in his responsibility as a provider for his family. Indeed, his family was the most important part of his life and he especially delighted in spending time with his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nicole R. and Tom Jackson of Middletown, Angela M. and Paul Garcia of Newark and Lisa A. Sentman of New Castle; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Larry and Mary Sentman of New Castle and Garry and Sandy Sentman of Newark; a sister and a brother-in-law, Linda and Michael Muldoo of New Castle; three grandchildren, Dominic Garcia, Riley Ciria and Thomas Jackson; his best friend, Donna M. Sentman of New Castle; his pet dog and constant companion, Samantha, with whom he shared a loyal and loving friendship; and many good friends.
Services were held on April 13 in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
Burial was in the adjoining memorial park.

Dorothy Mary Ann Williams
She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Veasey.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Ralph and Jean Veasey and Jonathan and Mia Veasey; 14 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, other family and friends.
Services were held on April 14 at Congo Funeral Home, Wilmington.
Edith O. Maslin
She was a homemaker and a member and former secretary at St. James Episcopal Church in Newport.
Ms. Maslin also enjoyed quilting and painting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Franklin Maslin, in 1980.
She is survived by daughter and a son-in-law, Bonnie L. and John Slank Jr. of Newark; a son and a daughter-in-law, and James W. and Connie Maslin of Townsend; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on April 16 at the McCrery Memorial Chapel.
Burial was private.

Floyd R. Kingsley
Mr. Kingsley retired as a Chief Master Sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 26 years of service.
He worked as a tool repairman at Daimler Chrysler, Newark, until he retired in 1984.
At the time of his wife s illness he devoted all of his time to her care.
Mr. Kingsley was a longtime member of St. James Episcopal Church in Newport. Until his wife s illness, he was an active member of the High Noon Lodge 38 AF & AM. He was also a Shriner and a member of Nur Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Orin and Ruth Kingsley; and his beloved wife of 50 years, Eleanor.
He is survived by his three daughters and two sons-in-law, Nancy and Tom James of Knoxville, Tenn., Ruth and Robert Tinsley of Middletown and Karen Maines of Newark; a son and a daughter-in-law, Floyd II and Cheryl Kingsley of Bear; a brother, Kenneth Kingsley of Janesville, Wisc.; 12 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on April 16 at Strano & Feeley Family Funeral Home, Newark.
Burial was in St. James Church Cemetery, Stanton.
