Bucky was a loving and devoted husband, father, son and brother. Bucky’s family was the most important thing in his life, followed closely by his position as Technical Trades Foreman at St. Andrew’s School in Middletown. Bucky loved his work at St. Andrew’s and considered that community his second family. He worked many years at Modern Handling Equipment Company of New Castle. Bucky enjoyed working with his hands, helping others in need, and his time spent at the beach. Bucky was a member of Townsend Fire Company for 12 years, where he participated in many fire company functions including fundraising events, bingo, and was on hand in the kitchen to aid the ladies auxiliary.
Bucky and his family attended the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church, and was a member of Immanuel Methodist Church of Townsend.
Bucky is survived by his wife, Lisa Phillips VanHorn; a son, Christopher Lee VanHorn, and his fiancé, Traci May Yearwood, of Middletown; three daughters, Samantha, Candace, and Jessica Wyre, all at home; his father and mother, Malvin E. VanHorn Jr., and Virginia “Ginny” VanHorn, of Dover; paternal grandmother, Ann VanHorn, of Townsend; two brothers, Michael VanHorn, and his wife, Lisa; Mark VanHorn, and his wife, Laurie, both of Townsend; three nephews, Michael VanHorn, Jr., of Townsend, Brandon and Shane VanHorn, of Middletown; and one niece, Nicole VanHorn, of Townsend
Friends may call April 14 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral Services will be held April 15 at the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Townsend Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Townsend Free Will Baptist Church or the Townsend Fire Company.
Edward F. Krolicki
Mr. Krolicki retired from the US Postal Service, where he had worked at the Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Wilmington. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the VFW Post 3257 in Wilmington. He loved flying and at one time owned his own plane. He was proud of his Hess collection and loved doing anything he could for others.
Mr. Krolicki is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Veronica Krolicki, and his sister, Sr. Irene Krolicki, OSF, and a daughter, Reginia C. Cartwright. He is survived by his beloved wife of 19 years, Mary “Molly” Krolicki; his sister and brother-in-law, Frances and William Wisniewski; an aunt, Helen Hatton, of Middletown, Ohio; three nephews, two nieces, his children and their spouses; 21 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and many friends.
Services were held Wednesday, April 13, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home. Interment was at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the VFW Post 3257, 106 7th Ave., Wilmington, DE 29805.
Walter Sargent
Mr. Sargent worked for Christiana Hospital and Morton Salt, both in Newark.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ermama Sargent; first wife, Rita Sargent; son, Russell Sargent; and brother, Alfred Sargent. Survivors include his children, Terry Sargent, Keith Sargent, both of North East, Md., and Darlene Houston, of Elkton Md.; siblings, Nancy Basset, Gosha Wagner, and Warren Sargent; 13 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, Md. Visitation will be held at 10 a.m.
Joe Nichols
Originally, from Waynesburg, Pa., Mr. Nichols was the only child of Frank D. Nichols and Irene Patterson, both deceased. He lived most of his life in Maryland and until recently, in Middletown. He was a graduate of Prince George’s Community College and the University of Maryland.
After serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965, be began a 29-year career with the federal government, working at NASA, the Department of Commerce, and retiring in 1995 from the Small Business Administration. Mr. Nichols was an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Crofton, Md. for many years, later the Lions Club, and the Historical Society of Middletown and a communicant of St. Joseph's Catholic Church of Middletown. He enjoyed gardening, traveling and history.
In addition to his wife of 36 years, Joanne, he leaves two sons and three grandsons, Eric F. Nichols, and his wife, Stephanie, and their sons, Gabriel and Alexander, of Odessa, and Timothy J. Nichols, and his wife, Michele, and their son, Owen, of Odenton, Md. Also surviving are several cousins.
Services were held on April 13, at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, April 14, at 11:30 a.m. at Price Hall, St. Joseph's Complex, 115 Cleaver Farm Road, off Del. 299, Middletown. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe's name to St. Joseph's Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 630, Middletown, DE 19709; or to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
John Wozny
A lifelong resident of Wilmington, he had been a master tailor at Wright & Simon Clothiers. He had been an Army veteran, serving during WWII and proudly served with the forces in France, Germany and England. He was a member St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he enjoyed singing as a member of the church choir. For relaxation, he enjoyed gardening.
He is survived by his son, Michael Wozny, and his wife, Andrea, of Bear; a daughter, Mary Ann Wozny, of Newark; granddaughters, Mika Blackburn, and her husband, Brian, of Bear, Megan Reynolds, and her husband, Chad, of Odessa; a great-grandson, Matthew; and two great-grandchildren due in June 2005. He was predeceased by his wife, Olga (Bilynsky) Wozny, who passed away in October 2001.
Divine Liturgy will be offered Thursday, April 14, at 10 a.m., at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Lea Boulevard and Miller Road, Wilmington. Relatives and friends are invited for visitation beginning at 7 p.m. at the John R. Yasik Funeral Home, 607 S. Harrison St., Wilmington, where a Parastas service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Mary VenDouern
Mrs. VenDouern was born in Middleburg, Md. on Sept. 7, 1916. As a young woman, she worked as an LPN for Children's Hospital in Baltimore before moving to Delaware in 1947 when her husband was transferred. Mrs. VenDouern was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church and taught kindergarten and preschool there for 26 years. For 15 years, she was a volunteer in the canteen at the Blood Bank of Delaware.
Her husband, John Thomas VenDouern, died in 1994. She is survived by a son, Thomas J. VenDouern, of Delaware City; a daughter, Patricia E. Goodman, of New Castle; six grandchildren, Michael T. VenDouern, John P. Goodman, Lisa L. Stewart, Alison A. Goodman, Matthew T. VenDouern and Ryan S. VenDouern; and five great-grandchildren.
The family extends their special gratitude to the nurses and staff of Delaware Hospice for their many kindnesses to Mrs. VenDouern during her illness.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 300 E. Basin Road, New Castle, DE, 19720, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Asbury U.M. Church.
Susan Regina Lauver
Susan was born in Vineland, N.J. on Nov. 15, 1941. Susan was born to the late Raymond Clyde and Rose Marie (VanHook) Albright and was predeceased by her stepfather, Edward F. Walsh.
She was a graduate of Sanford High School in Hockessin, was the co-owner of the Van Hook Walsh School in Middletown, and worked for Strawbridge and Clothier from 1991-2001.
Susan is survived by two sons, Edward F. Lauver, and his wife, Jessica, of Newark, and Joseph “Jory” Lauver, of Elkton, Md.; a daughter, Linda Smith, and her husband, Randy, of Florida; and a brother and sister, Raymond Albright and Marna Groh, both of Middletown.
Family and friends are invited to attend Susan’s Life Celebration from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 14, followed by her memorial service at 11 a.m. Thursday at Beeson Memorial Services, 2053 Pulaski Highway, U.S. 40, Newark. Inurnment will be held in St. Paul’s Cemetery in Delaware City.
Memorial contributions in Susan’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, 1501 Casho Mill Road, Ste. 1, Newark, DE 19713; or to the American Diabetes Association, 100 West 10th St., Ste 1002, Wilmington, DE 19301.
Philip Angelo Forgione
He was born in Wilmington.
Mr. Forgione was a hard-working man for 35 years of his life and was retired.
He was preceded in death by his father, John James Forgione Sr.; and a sister, Leona Johnston.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Ann (Weber) Forgione of Middletown; his wife, Linda Sue (Church) Forgione; a son and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Rachel Wingard; a daughter, Charlene Komives; four grandchildren, James, Danielle, Ashley and Gavin; a sister and a brother-in-law, Joyce and Tom Connelly of Townsend; a brother and a sister-in-law, John Jr. and Linda Forgione; and seven nieces and nephews, Thomas Connelly, Kyle Connelly, Janel Carey, Jill Forgione, Venus Kincaid, Charles Miller and Phillip Miller.
Services will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 13 at New Hope Wesleyan Church, 3813 Newport Gap Pike, Wilmington, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be private.
J. Crawford Ginn
He was born on Jan. 8, 1934, in Townsend, son of the late Crawford and Florence Ginn.
Mr. Ginn retired from A.E.T. in Middletown in 1994, due to declining health.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a beloved daughter, Doris Ginn Schroeder; a brother, Francis Heverin; and a brother-in-law, Eulon Jackson.
He is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Beatrice and John Melvin of Clayton; a granddaughter and a grandson-in-law, Krystal and Donald Hannum of Clayton; a brother and a sister-in-law, Jerry and Jane Ginn of Newport; a sister, Vivian Jackson of Brewton, Ala.; a niece, Faye Hodges of Brewton; and two nephews, Edward Jackson and Millard Jackson, both of Florida.
Services were held on April 11 at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.
Burial was in Townsend Cemetery.

Margaret Marie Diehl
Mrs. Diehl was born on March 10, 1922, in York New Salem, Pa.
She devoted her whole life to her family. She was a wonderful wife and mother who took pride in her family and home. She was an avid seamstress, loved all types of animals and enjoyed meeting new people. She always had a twinkle in her eye. She was very loved and will be deeply missed.
Mrs. Diehl was an active member of Circle 4 Square Dance Club for more than 25 years.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Harry A. Diehl; four children, Rodney E. Diehl of Middletown, Diane S. Foster of Perryville, Md., Lori E. Vogan of Phoenixville, Pa., and Brian E. Diehl of East Earl, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services were held on Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at the Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington.
Burial was private.

Bernard J. Farren
Mr. Farren was born in Wilmington.
Prior to retirement, he was a trainmaster for Conrail, where he had been employed for 38 years.
He had enjoyed line dancing, bowling, trips to Disney World, and designing and making arts and crafts.
He attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Palm City, Fla. He was a former member of Loyal Order of Moose in New Castle.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jean Farren of Stuart; three sons and three daughters-in-law, David J. and Katheleen Farren of Wilmington, Kenneth J. and Anna Farren of Bear and Daniel S. and Sherrie Farren of Newark; four grandchildren, Jennifer, Margherita, Justin and David “D.J.” Jr.; a brother, Jack Farren of Newark; and a sister, Lee Kennedy of Townsend.
Services were held on April 5 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2655 SW Lutheran Drive, Palm City, Fla.

Venus E. Johnson
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Claire Chube of Valparaiso, Frank Rogers of Los Angeles, Peggy Ann Silas of Tampa, Fla., Dakota Williams of Middletown, Harvey (Jackie) and Althea Johnson of New Castle, Ronald (Dianne) and Romella of Wilmington, John (Sheila) of Salem, N.J., and Gina Johnson of Bear; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Services were held on April 9 at Bethel AME Church, Wilmington.
Burial was at Riverview Gardens.
Harry Anthony Kettner Jr.
Mr. Kettner was born in Wilmington.
He attended William Penn High School.
Mr. Kettner made his home in Bear and lived in Florida for the past four years.
He was a plumber and owned his own business, Kettner Plumbing, prior to moving to Florida. While in Florida, he worked for Scotto’s Plumbing.
Mr. Kettner enjoyed hot rods, being a prankster and eating pizza, but most important to him was his love for his family. He will be sadly missed and remembered by his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harry A. Kettner Sr., in 1985; and his former spouse, Vivian Kettner, in 2006.
He is survived by two sons, Harry A. Kettner III of Smyrna and Anthony J. Kettner of Bear; a daughter, Christy M. Kettner of Bear; his mother, Jackie Yaccarino of New Castle; two brothers and a sister-in-law, James W. Kettner of Bear and Robert J. and Michelle Kettner of Middletown; and a sister, Sharon A. Kettner of Los Angeles.
Services were held on April 6 at Beeson Funeral Home of Newark.
Burial was in Hickory Grove Cemetery, St. Georges.
Louis Orlando
Mr. Orlando was born in Camden, N.J., son of the late Nicholas and Jennie D’Agostino Orlando.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1966, during in the Vietnam War.
He lived in Middletown for 18 years.
Mr. Orlando was a security officer for Kimberly Clark/Scott Paper for 32 years, before retiring in 1999.
He enjoyed fishing, golf, bowling, playing horse shoes, and cards. He also loved being with his family.
Mr. Orlando was a member of the Free Will Baptist Church, Townsend, for 10 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine M. Garren Orlando, on May 14, 2004; five siblings, Betty Maston, Amelia Orlando, Amelia Orlando, Vince Orlando, Rocco Orlando and Serphino “John” Orlando.
He is survived by, Deb Dunion of Colwyn, Pa., Sharon Wright of Bear, Louis N. Orlando of Drums, Pa., Susan L. Lare of Drums, Pa., and Harvey E. Orlando of Middletown; three brothers, Guy Orlando, Joe Orlando and Robert Orlando; four sisters, Marie Simon, Josie Di’Francisco, Patty Scheibe and Julie Indellini; 11 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services were held on April 11 at the Moreland-Pagano Funeral Home, Trainer, Pa.
Burial was in Lawn Croft Cemetery, Linwood, Pa.

George Thomas Turvey
Mr. Turvey was born on Oct. 17, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pa., son of the late Thomas and Esther Adams Turvey.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era.
A lineman by profession, he retired from Delmarva Power in 2007, after a 34-year career.
Mr. Turvey greatly enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially fishing and camping. He also enjoyed all types of sports and trips to Delaware Park with friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Daniel P. Turvey.
He is survived by four children, Janice M. Christeson of Mason, Ohio, Timothy J. Turvey of Ridley, Pa., Thomas G. Turvey of Newark and Regina A. Minzer of Middletown; a brother, Joseph Turvey of King of Prussia, Pa.; a sister, Veronica Schwenger of Egg Harbor, N.J.; and 14 grandchildren.
A committal service was held April 5 in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Dora F. Wallace
Mrs. Wallace was born on Dec. 14, 1924, in Mangum, Okla., daughter of the late Robert and Arminta Webb Price .
She attended Woodward Junior College in Oklahoma.
A gifted businesswoman and entrepreneur, she most recently operated Fancy Flea, an antique store in Chadds Ford, Pa. She previously was the owner of the Coffee Cup restaurant and also created and marketed “Tweet Tweet Bird Houses” with her husband.
Mrs. Wallace was a talented artist and avid reader and remained proud of her Oklahoman heritage throughout her life. She was an ardent fan of the Dallas Cowboys and later became a great Philadelphia Eagles fan. Above all, she was passionately devoted to her family and regarded her children and grandchildren as the most important part of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Norman A. Wallace, in 1996; and a sister, Faye McDonald, in 2004.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Lorrie Wallace of New Castle, and Cindy Jamison, Patricia A. and Jerry Gerhart and Julie (Wallace) and Jeff Burt, all of Bear; a son and a daughter-in-law, Ronald N. and Gail Wallace of Lakeland, Fla.; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Louise Juett of Knoxville, Tenn., and Patricia and Philip Hartsfield of Newport Beach, Calif.; three grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law, Chuck and Linda Cannon, Michael and Erin Gerhart and Justin Thawley; six granddaughters and three grandsons-in-law, Traci and Michael Walker, Trish and Ed Atwood, Stacy and Jerry Singleton, Amber Thawley, Jessica Wallace and Bridget Burt; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashley Duffy, Trevor Duffy, Caroline Gerhart, Tyler Bryan, Paige Cannon, Lilly Atwood, Dakota Walker and Trinity Singleton.
Service were held on April 6 at Kingswood United Methodist Church, Newark.
A committal service was held on April 9 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
