Mrs. Brown was born on Dec. 14, 1939, in Wilmington.
She was an office manager by profession, working for the former Boyer & Cruchley Oil Company in Delaware City for more than 30 years, until her retirement.
A talented homemaker, she delighted in baking for her family and friends and spending time with her beloved grandchildren.
Mrs. Brown was active in her community. She was a life member and past president of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Delaware City Fire Company, the Ladies Auxiliary of Robert L. Taylor Post No. 13, American Legion and the Delaware City Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lillard E. Brownie Brown, in 2003; her father, Joseph Mitchell; mother, Phyllis Hall; stepfather, Charles A. Hall Jr.; and a sister, Joanne West.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Denise Haynes of Earleville, Md.; a sister, Phyllis Jones of Wilmington; two brothers, Charles A. Hall III of Bear and Frank Mitchell of San Francisco, Calif.; two grandchildren, Rebecca Haynes and Connor Haynes, and their father, Rick Haynes, all of Middletown.
Service were held on April 2 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Delaware City.
Burial was in Delaware City Cemetery.

Paul Sonny Valentine
Mr. Valentine was in the Army Reserves for 8 years.
He was employed as a carpenter with Richard S. DuPont before retiring. He also worked at the Winterthur Museum for 11 years.
He enjoyed all types of fishing, especially fishing for bass in the ponds of lower Delaware. He was an avid deer hunter, loved to travel and especially enjoyed his trip to Alaska.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Joyce Valentine; his children and grandchildren, Mark Valentine of Wilmington, Troy Valentine, and his wife, Cindy, and their children, Justin and Christopher, all of Middletown, and Keith Valentine, and his wife, Tish, and their son, Cameron, all of Landenberg, Pa.; a sister and a brother-in-law, LaVernon and Richard Milsom of Bear; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on at 2 p.m. on Thursday, April 5 in the chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the adjoining memorial park.

Thomas Robert Hopkins
Mr. Hopkins was born on September 13, 1950, in Wilmington, son of the late William J. and Carrie Kowalewski Hopkins.
He resided at Hare s Corner, New Castle, with his brother and sister-in-law for many years before staying in Odessa for a short time.
He was employed at Elwyn Institute in Wilmington for more than 40 years before his illness.
Mr. Hopkins will always be remembered for his gentle ways and promptness for details. His humorous laugh and love of children were a joy to his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William.
He is survived by a brother and a sister-in-law, John W. and Joanne Hopkins of New Castle; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Joan G. and Charles Smith of St. Georges and Florence J. Charlton of Landenberg, Pa., and C. Sonia and Robert Latina of Ocala, Fla; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.
Services were on March 31 in the Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
Burial was in the adjoining memorial park.

Betty Z. Tinsley
She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, preparing meals and playing cards. She was an avid bowler and bowled in several leagues. In her spare time, she loved to travel and work in her garden.
Mrs. Tinsley was a longtime member of Red Lion Evangelical Church in Bear.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn Eillenger and Sidney Day; and a son, Carl P. Tinsley, in 1985.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Guy P. Tinsley; a daughter and a son-in-law, Nancy and Dave Dawson of Townsend; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Ruth Tinsley of Middletown and Brian Tinsley, and his fiance, Tara Donofrio, of Bear; 12 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four sisters, Shirley Monast, Mary Brown, Ruby York and Geneva Roberts; and a brother, Jimmy Day.
Services were held on April 2 at the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, Middletown.
Burial was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear
Lawrence Wilmer Williams
He was born Jan. 15, 1915, in Middletown.
He served in World War II with the U.S. Army Combat Battalion that landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944.
He as a milkman for Abbott s Dairy and previously Fraim s Dairy for 22 years, before retiring in 1977.
Mr. Williams was a lifetime member of the Middletown Delaware Volunteer Hose Company.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Laura Treleaven Williams of Brandon; a son and a daughter-in-law, Lawrence W. and Mary Jane Williams of Apollo Beach, Fla.; two grandchildren, Tim and Kristin; and two great-grandchildren, Isabel and Nathaniel.
Services were held on April 3 at the Hillcrest-Bellefonte United Methodist Church, Wilmington.
Burial was in Townsend.

Dorothy M. Press
Mrs. Press was born on November 12, 1926, in Delaware City.
She began her career assisting in the war effort at Fort DuPont during World War II and later accepted a position as a secretary with the DuPont Company in Wilmington. She retired from DuPont in 1968, after 23 years of service. Following her retirement, she assisted in the management of the family business, the former Press Exxon Service center in Delaware City.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed cross-stitching and knitting and was especially pleased to have made all of the family s Christmas stockings.
A devout Catholic, Mrs. Press was a member of St. Ann s R.C. Church in Bethany Beach and a former member of St. Paul's R.C. Church in Delaware City, where she taught in the CCD program. While living in Fenwick Island, she served as a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and in the Sussex County Library system.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, former Delaware City mayor, William H. Press Jr., in 2006.
She is survived by six children and stepchildren, Patrick G. Press and his wife, Rosie, of Bear;
Joseph M. Press and his wife, Chris, of Middletown; Mary Anne Ridgeway and her husband, Steve, of Millville; Margery Netsch and her husband, Herb, of Delaware City; David L. Press and his wife, Nancy, of Hockessin; and Bill Press and his wife, Carol, of Washington D.C.; two sisters, Virginia Lovett and Pat Harrison, both of Delaware City; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services were held on April 3 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Delaware City.
Burial was follow in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Myrtle R. Gleeson
Mrs. Gleeson was born on Nov. 2, 1930, in Town Point, Md., daughter of the late Fred and Amelia Anderson Rother.
Early in her career, she was employed with the News Journal Company, where she met Frank J. Gleeson, who became her husband. She later was the office manager of Peoples Security Life Insurance in Prospect Park, Pa., from where she retired after many years of service.
In earlier years, Mrs. Gleeson looked forward to attending social functions with her husband at the Moose Lodge in New Castle. She was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. A talented homemaker throughout her life, she greatly enjoyed sewing, gardening, knitting, needlepoint and cooking. More recently, she delighted in sitting on her porch, enjoying both the weather and good conversation with her beloved children and grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; a grandson, Joshua Ashley; a niece, Diane Loller; and seven siblings.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Amy C. Clark and her fianc , Ronald English, both of New Castle, and Priscilla A. and Reed Ashley, with whom she lived; a stepson and a stepdaughter-in-law, Ronald J. and Barbara Gleeson of Newark; a stepdaughter and a stepson-in-law, Linda M. and Michael Greene of Bear; three sisters, Tottie Fitzgerald of Pennsylvania, Gladys Holmes of Louisiana and Jessie Melton of Florida; a niece and a nephew-in-law, Viola and Bill Abplanalp of Claymont; a nephew, Jim Loller of Maryland; a dear friend, Dee Ashley of Newark; seven grandchildren and a grandson-in-law, Heather Clark, Billy Clark Jr., Ashley Clark, Dalton Ashley, Julianna Ashley, Melissa and Erich Bollman and Heather Greene; a great-grandson, Brady Bollman; and many other special nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
Service ere held March 31 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, New Castle.
Burial was in Glebe Cemetery.

Winnie May (Badger) Black
Winnie May Black of Elkton, Md., formerly of Peachbottom, Pa., died Monday, March 25, 2002 at Union Hospital, Elkton, Md. She was 93.
Mrs. Black was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Roy Black, in 1986; her parents, George and Cora (Taylor) Badger; and three sons, Arvel Black, Ron Black and Curt Black.
She is survived by seven children, Ora Lee Moore (Walter) of Delaware, Ark., Garvey Bud Black (Barbara) of Unionville, Pa., Dee Bazell of Oxford, Pa., Verna Reynold and Winnie Babe Atkins, both of Wilmington, Marvin Black (Barbara) of Newark and Jeffrey Black of Delaware City; a sister, Renie Updike of Laurel, Md.; 18 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services were held March 28 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Newark.
Interment was in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens, Jefferson, N.C.
Clifford Burton Hearn, Sr.
Clifford Burton Hearn, Sr. of Wilmington died Friday, March 29, 2002. He was 92.
Mr. Hearn was a Deputy Sheriff in New Castle County retiring in 1977. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Stanton, a 32nd degree mason with the Temple Lodge #11 AF&AM and the Armstrong Lodge #27 AF&AM, a member of the Consistory and the Nur Temple.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Hearn, in 1997.
He is survived by two sons, Clifford B. Hearn, Jr. of Odessa and Arthur C. Hearn of Newark; a daughter, Mary M. Meehan of Wilmington; and four grandchildren.
Services will be held April 4 at 11:30 a.m. at St. James Episcopal Church, 2106 St. James Church Rd., Delpark Manor, Wilmington.
Friends may call at the McCrery Memorial Chapel, 3710 Kirkwood Highway at Duncan Rd. from 10 to 10:45 a.m., April 4.
Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery.

Marjorie Ellen Lane
Marjorie Ellen Lane of Clayton died Saturday, March 30, 2002 at home. She was 74.
Mrs. Lane was born Feb. 20, 1928 in Elkton, Md., the daughter of the late Harvey J. and Vera Woodall Sartin.
She farmed with her husband in the Glasgow area before moving to Clayton and starting a farm there.
After her husband s death, Mrs. Lane worked in the kitchen at the Kent Convalescent Center and later Scott s Nursing Home, both in Smyrna.
She then worked for Wal-Mart in Dover before retiring due to disability.
Mrs. Lane was a former 4-H Project Leader and enjoyed canning and gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Claude Lane.
She is survived by four sons, Raymond J. Lane of Ozark, Ala., Thomas A. and Edward N. Lane both of Clayton and David T. Lane of Sarasota, Fla.; three daughters, Betty L. Shepherd of Bear, Joanne M. Schramm of Delmar and Nancy E. Schrader of Clayton; two sisters, Anna Wooleyhan and Edith Carroll, both of Middletown; eight; grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held April 4, at 11 a.m. in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main Street Smyrna.
Interment will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Minquadale, New Castle.

Katherine Kraszewski
Katherine Kraszewski of Wilmington died Saturday, March 30, 2002. She was 73.
Mrs. Kraszewski is survived by her husband of 50 years, Alexander J. Chink Kraszewski, Sr.; a son Alexander Kraszewski, Jr. of Wilmington; a brother, John Macey of Middletown; three sisters, Ann Goodley of New Castle, Mary Crystal and Doris Scully, both of Wilmington; and two grandchildren, Carol and Paul Rodriquez.
Services were held April 3 at St. Matthews Catholic Church, Wilmington.
Interment was in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Hoover C. Sutton
Hoover C. Sutton of West Lebanon, N.H., formerly of Middletown, died Sunday, February 10, 2002 at his home after a brief illness. He was 71.
Mr. Sutton was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on June 29, 1930. He graduated from Ridley College in St. Catherine s, Ontario, Canada and Hobart College in Geneva, N.Y. While attending Hobart, Mr. Sutton captained the lacrosse team and was voted All-American. Following his graduation, he attended Harvard Business School and was enlisted into the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He was Assistant Headmaster at New Canaan Country School in the 1960s and early 1970s. He then became Headmaster of Applewild School in Fitchburg, Ma., before coming to St. Andrew's School in Middletown 1980. At St. Andrew s, Mr. Sutton was the college counselor and directed the theater program. He also taught English, coached tennis and women's lacrosse and volleyball. His boys tennis team won the Delaware State title in 1986.He retired from St. Andrew s to the Hanover area in 1993. He taught animation in the Frances C. Richmond School and was actively involved in directing high school theatrical productions. Mr. Sutton was also a volunteer at David's House.
Mr. Sutton is survived by his wife and life long friend, Geraldine Cass; three children, Jonathan Sutton of Manchester, N.H., H. Clark Sutton, III of Middlebury, Vt. and Melissa Maruca of Springfield, Ma.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one of his children, Leslie Hall Sutton.
Services were held in New Hampshire after Mr. Sutton s death. A second service will be held April 20 at 11:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, New Canaan, Conn.

Patricia Jane Mayo
Patricia Jane Mayo of Dover died Thursday, March 28, 2002 at the Christiana Hospital in Newark.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Mayo was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony J. Mayo, in 1999.
She is survived by four daughters, Michaele Mayo and Pat Heegard, both of Newark, Susan Dempsey of Dover and Aimee Stevens of Middletown; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
Services and interment were private.
