Kathryn M. Leasure

Kathryn M. Leasure of Stanton, and Ocean City, Md., died Wednesday, February 20, 2002 suddenly. She was 59.

She was a 1960 graduate of the Henry C. Conrad High School. Mrs. Leasure and her husband owned and operated Leasure s Lawn and Garden Equipment. She also sponsored and coached youth softball. She had a strong love for animals.

She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Leasure, Sr.; a son, Robert L. Leasure, Jr. (Linda) of Stanton; a daughter, Deborah Walton (Andy) of Middletown; a brother, William J. Morris of Newport; a sister, Phyllis M. Delpizzo of Wilmington; and four grandchildren, Bobby and Christina Leasure and Samantha and Sean Walton.

Services were held Feb. 25 in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, Minquadale, New Castle.

Burial was in the adjoining memorial park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delaware Human Society, 701 A Street, Wilmington, DE 19801.

Owen Butch G. Lloyd

Owen G. Lloyd of Hartly died Wednesday, February 20, 2002 at the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 55.

Mr. Lloyd was a fleet manager for Manfredi Mushrooms in Kennett Square, Pa. He was an Army veteran, who served with the Black Knights in Vietnam from 1967 to 1968 and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Lloyd was also a member of the Camden-Wyoming Moose Lodge #203.

He is survived by a son, William Bill J. Lloyd (Kristie) of Dover; a daughter, Patricia Lloyd of Newark; his parents, William G. and Janet L. Lloyd of Dover; two brothers, Wade T. Lloyd of Felton and Drew W. Lloyd of Newark; four sisters, Cynthia Rouwhorst of Dover, Owen Waddell of Newark, Ann Marie Jordan of Hartly and Wanda Salvatelli of Newark; two grandchildren, Raven and Kortney, both of Dover; and his dog, Bart.

He was preceded in death by two siblings, Londa Lloyd Denning and Nancy Lloyd.

Services were held Feb. 25 at Price Hall in St. Joseph s Complex, Middletown.

Burial was in Townsend Cemetery, Townsend.

Mary Betty E. Lobacewicz

Mary E. Lobacewicz of Riverview, Fla. Died Thursday, February 21, 2002. She was 77.

Born in Galena, Md. on July 18, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Norman F. and Josephine Davis Merchant. Mrs. Lobacewicz had worked at Schaefers Restaurant and The Canal House, Chesapeake City, Md.

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Al Lobacewicz of Riverview; three children, Peggy Ann Bristow of Riverview, Joanne Johnson of Winter Haven, Fla. And Robert Bristow of Earleville, Md.; a sister, Norma Kelley of Elkton, Md.; a brother, Norman Merchant of Chestertown, Md.; and three grandchildren, Joey Gross, Tara Bristow and Robbie Bristow.

Services were held Feb. 25 at Hicks Home for Funerals, Elkton, Md.

Interment was in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn.

Sara W. Macuga

Sara W. Macuga of Fairfax, Va., formerly of Newark, died Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the Burk Healthcare Center, Burk, Va. She was 89.

Mrs. Macuga was born June 9, 1912 in Leven, Scotland. She came to the U.S. with family in 1919 and grew up in Chestnut Hill, Pa. She went to Pierce Business College, Philadelphia, Pa. and worked for the British Consulate at the University of Pennsylvania.

She and her husband moved to Newark in 1958 and in 1962 she went to work for the Winterthur Program at the University of Delaware until retiring in 1977. During her 39 years in Newark, she was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church, the Newark Country Club and later the Newark Senior Center.

She is survived by a daughter, Sarah A. Macuga of Fairfax, Va.; a son, Stephen J. Macuga, Jr. (Catherine) of Newark; a brother, E. Leslie Williams (Gwen) of Terry, Miss.; a granddaughter, Mishna Macuga of Delaware City; a great granddaughter, Kayla Haller of Delaware City; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen J. Macuga, Sr., in 1996.

Services were held Feb. 25 at R.T. Foard and Jones Funeral Home, Newark.

Graveside services were held Feb. 26 in the George Washington Cemetery, White Marsh, Pa.

Mary Elizabeth Maichle

Mary Elizabeth Maichle of New Castle died Friday, February 22, 2002 at her home. She was 63.

Mrs. Maichle enjoyed collecting cat figurines and other cat collectibles. She enjoyed working on word search and jigsaw puzzles, as well as bowling and playing cards.

She is survived by her husband, James W. Maichle, Sr.; five children, Mary Edwards (Tim) and Ann Flowers (Garry), both of Bear, James W. Maichle, Jr. (Carolee) of New Castle, Ruth Foster (Charles Flowers) of Newark and Ralph Maichle (Louise) of Dover; two brothers, John DiPersio, Jr. (Gwen) of Port Penn and Frank DiPersio of Smyrna; and three grandchildren, James Corbit Maichle, Ryan Foster and Kristeena Flowers.

Services were held Feb. 27 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Wilmington Manor, New Castle.

Entombment was in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

George B. McGlashan

George B. McGlashan of Newark died Sunday, February 24, 2002 at home. He was 67.

Mr. McGlashan grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and worked alongside his father and brother as an Operating Engineer throughout the Great Lakes region. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 through 1958 as a radio repairman in Korea. In 1965, he graduated from Ohio State University earning his degree in Electrical Engineering. Mr. McGlashan then worked for E.I. DuPont in the Medical Products Department in Parlin, N.J. for seven years and in Glasgow for 22 years, retiring in 1994.

He enjoyed reading, maintaining his own cars, dining out and traveling. He was also a member of Solomon Lodge #36, serving as Worshipful Master in 1982.

He is survived by his wife, Betty L. Grosenbacher McGlashan; a daughter, Gail L. of Middletown; a son, William G. of North Wilmington; a sister, Jean Annable of Cleveland, Ohio; and one grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a brother, John D. McGlashan of Cleveland, Ohio.

Services will be held March 1 at 11 a.m. at Beeson Memorial Services, 2053 Pulaski Highway, Newark.

Interment will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Friends and family are invited to call Feb. 28 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Beeson Funeral Home.

Patricia A. Raser

Patricia A. Raser of Bear died Monday, February 18, 2002 at Christiana Hospital, Newark, after her battle with cancer. She was 53.

Mrs. Raser was a telecommunications specialist, working in staff training and programming of telecommunications equipment. She was employed by Lincoln University, Atlantic Aviation, Bell Atlantic, Octel Corporation, and most recently, Williams Communications.

She enjoyed camping, traveling, sewing, cooking and social interaction with support group friends.

She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Gordon Michael Raser; two children, Jeffrey M. Raser of Smyrna and Karen L. Kerstetter (Timothy) of Middletown; and a grandson, Jacob B. Raser of Smyrna.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph P. and Alice Mackey Taylor; and two brothers, Steven Taylor and Joseph P. Taylor, Jr.

Services were held Feb. 21 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Newark.

Committal services were held Feb. 22 in the chapel of Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Barbara A. Sturgill

Barbara A. Sturgill of Minquadale, New Castle, died Friday, February 15, 2002 at the Christiana Hospital, Newark.

Mrs. Sturgill, a homemaker, was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Caesar Rodney Chapter #8.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Eugene R. Strugill; a daughter, Kellie L. Lewis (Mark) of Nottingham, Pa.; her parents, Lester and Pearl Osborne of Mountain City, Tenn.; and three grandchildren, Casi N. Lewis, Courtney A. Lewis and Cole J. Lewis.

Services were held Feb. 22 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Wilmington Manor, New Castle.

Burial was in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Donald J. Tancredi, Sr.

Donald J. Tancredi, Sr. of Wilmington died Tuesday, February 19, 2002 at home surrounded by family. He was 92.

Mr. Tancredi was born in Baltimore, Md. July 4, 1909 to the late Ignuzio and Annunziatta Meloni Tancredi. A veteran of WWII, he served as a military policeman in the U.S. Army and was employed as a machine operator for Electric Hose and Rubber Company, retiring in 1971 after 45 years of service.

He was a member of St. Helena s parish, enjoyed reading and gardening and was a self-educated man.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, the former Helen DiCamilla; a son, Donald J. Tancredi, Jr. (Kathy) of Newark; a daughter, Antoinette Ragazzo (Robert) of North Hills; four sisters, Mary Migliocco, Louise Pegrams and Margaret Sund, all of Wilmington, and Lucy Slawter of Middletown; two grandchildren, David and Leslie Tancredi; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Tancredi was preceded in death by three brothers, Rebel, Algie and Anthony; and two sisters, Fannie Kolinski and Agnes Chew.

Services were held Feb. 22 at St. Helena s R.C. Church, Wilmington.

Interment was in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Floyd J. White

Floyd J. White of Wilmington died Monday, February 18, 2002 at home. He was 76.

Mr. White was a plumber and pipefitter for Union Local #74, retiring in 1988 after 45 years of service. He was a seaman 1st class in the U.S. Navy during WW II and served in the Pacific. He was a member of the Atterbury VFW.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary S. White; a daughter, Janet Ann Waselesky of Yardley, Pa.; two brothers, Calvin White of Earleville, Md. and John White of Elsmere; and two sisters, Louise Evans of Fairfax and Betty Lawson of Millsboro.

Services were held Feb. 22 at Doherty Funeral Home, Wilmington.

Interment was private.

Robert M. Gottschall
Robert M. Gottschall, of Milford, formerly of Middletown, passed away Thursday, February 13, 2003 in the Silver Lake Center in Dover. He was 86.

Mr. Gottschall had worked as secretary and treasurer for 17 years of NVF Corporation in Wilmington and also Avisun Corporation in New Castle. He had retired as director of financial services in 1989 from Sun Health Corporation in Sun City, Ariz., and in 1981 from Northern Arizona Medical Center in Flagstaff, Ariz. He was an Army veteran of WWII, serving as an officer with the 809th Engineers in Italy.

Mr. Gottschall received an MBA from Temple University and he also graduated from Ursinus College in 1938. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Middletown, where he had sung in the church choir. He was also a member of various service organizations such as the Jaycees and the Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed listening to jazz music and was known for his joke-telling ability. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather and a good friend to all who knew him.

Robert is survived by his wife, Veronica Cole Gottschall; three sons; a daughter; three daughters-in-law; six granddaughters; two great grandsons; and a devoted friend and caregiver, Hope. He was predeceased by his parents and a son.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, Feb. 15 in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, W. Cochran St., Middletown. Burial was held privately at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund, PO Box 196, Middletown, DE 19709.

Arnold L. Feldman
Arnold L. Feldman of Middletown, formerly of New Hope, Pa, died peacefully on February 16, 2003 after a long illness. He was 75.

Arnold was the beloved spouse and best friend of Inge Diehl. He was the loving father of three children, son Larry, and daughters, Heide and Karen. He also leaves behind stepdaughter Susan, husband Will and grandsons, Billy and Christopher.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was the son of the late Jack and Dina Feldman. Arnold worked for 25 years until his retirement from Metropolitan Life. He was a veteran of World War II.

Graveside services were held at Germantown Cemetery in Oldwick, N.J. on Wednesday, Feb. 26.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Arnold Feldman's name may be made to the Compassionate Care Hospice, 5610 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.

Remy Garcia Fong
Remy Garcia Fong, of Clayton, and formerly of Oakland, Calif., died on Wednesday February 19, 2003 at home. She was 81.

Mrs. Fong was born in the Philippines, and immigrated to the United States in 1950. She was self-employed as a storekeeper for many years. Mrs. Fong had done volunteer work for the USO in the 1960s, and had enjoyed dancing and singing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kong S. Fong, in 2000.

She is survived by a daughter, Paulita Timmons, of Clayton; a granddaughter, Maria Payne, of Clayton; two grandsons, Chris Lemire, of Wilmington; and Jeff Lemire, of Newark; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services were held Tuesday, Feb. 25 at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

Sandra Hall Goldberg
Sandra Hall Sandi Goldberg, of Smyrna, died on Saturday February 15, 2003 at Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. She was 57.

She was born in Granite City, Ill., the daughter of Charles L. and Eva A. Hall, both of Dover. She was a graduate of Middletown High School, and had attended the University of Delaware.

Sandi was a devoted daughter, wife and mother. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed spending time at Windfields Farm with horse legend Northern Dancer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Edward Goldberg, in 1996.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by a daughter, Darsan Sanders Conyer, of Smyrna; two sons, Damion Patton Goldberg, of Elkton, Md.; and Dar Hall Overbey, of High Point, N.C.; two brothers, Charles L. Hall Jr., of Bear; and Robert M. Hall, of Hawaii; a grandson, Dar Tanner Overbey, of High Point, N.C.; and her constant companion Spuds M.

Services and burial were private.
