She was born in Edgemont, Pa., daughter of the late J. Leedom and Margaret Springer Palmer. Mrs. Townley was a licensed practical nurse in the St. Claire s Hospital of Danville, N.J., for 25 years and retired in 1970. She was a member of Kenton United Methodist Church, and the Kenton Ruritan Club for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William E. Townley; five brothers; and three sisters. She is survived by two daughters, Laura Lowery, of Waterman, Ill.; and Josephine McAdams and her husband Raymond, of Maple Park, Ill.; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a family of friends. Graveside services and interment will be held 11 a.m. Nov. 19 at Glenwood Cemetery, Glenwood Avenue, Smyrna.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Ambulance Fund of the Hartly Vol. Fire Company, P.O. Box 28, Hartly, De. 19953.
David P. Heaney
David P. Heaney, a lifetime resident of Wilmington, died Sunday, November 11, 2001 after a long illness at the Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 84.
Mr. Heaney owned and operated the Brandywine Sheet Metal Shop.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen; two daughters, Barbara Heiser of Middletown and Ann Galloway of Toughkenamon, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
Services were private.

John Vincent Johnson
John Vincent Johnson of Newark died Sunday, November 11, 2001 at Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 80.
Mr. Johnson worked for the University of Delaware, New Castle County and the Federal Government. He also served in the Army during WWII. He enjoyed traveling and was an avid military historian.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis (Raab) Johnson; two children, Vince Johnson and Vicky Fike, both of Newark; two stepchildren, Sandra Harrel of Telford, Pa. and Cynthia Blum of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Nov. 14 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Homes, Newark.
Interment was in Delaware Veteran s Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Thomas Homer Lamb, Jr.
Thomas Homer Lamb, Jr. of Middletown and Smyrna, died Wednesday November 7, 2001 at home. He was 76.
Born and raised in Smyrna, Mr. Lamb attended Smyrna schools and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, stationed in Norwick, England. He returned to Smyrna in 1945 and continued his employment at Clarkie s Garage. In 1977, he assumed ownership of the business which he operated until his death. He was known to many in the area as "Mr. Clarkie."
Mr. Lamb was a lifelong member of St. Peters Church in Smyrna where he served many times as Vestryman, Chairman of the Cemetery committee, usher and Sunday school teacher. In recent years he was an active participant in the life of St. Anne s Church in Middletown. He was also a life member of the American Legion David C. Harrison Post #14 in Smyrna.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas H. and Elizabeth Turner Lamb; and his first wife, Leola Davidson Lamb.
He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Denney Lamb; two brothers, James W. Lamb of Little Creek and Charles G. Lamb of Smyrna; two sisters, Margery E. Lamb of Smyrna and Rosemary L. Fox of Leipsic; five step-sons, MSgt, James W. Ryan, Jr. of Dalzell, S.C., Thomas P. Ryan of Smyrna, Robert D. Ryan of Wilmington, Donald L. Ryan of Kutztown, Pa. and Ronald D. Ryan of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; six step grandchildren; a niece and nephews.
Services were held Nov. 10 in St. Peters Episcopal Church, Smyrna.
Interment was private.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to St. Peters Episcopal Church, 22 North Union Street Smyrna, DE 19977 or to St. Anne s Church, PO Box 421, Middletown, DE 19709 or to Delaware Hospice, 911 South DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.

Gertrude Bernice Neave
Gertrude Bernice Neave of Earleville, Md. died Wednesday, November 7, 2001 at the Wilmington Hospital. She was 89.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Neave was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Neave, in 1968.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha N. Rushlow (Michael) of Wilmington; a son, James H. Neave of Rockledge, Fla.; a grandson, Adam J. Neave of Rockledge, Fla.; and a nephew, Thomas H. Hutt of Hockessin.
Services were held Nov. 12 at Christ Church Christiana Hundred, Greenville.
Interment was private.

Theresa M. Phillips
Theresa M. Phillips of New Castle died Thursday, November 8, 2001 at the Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 81.
Mrs. Phillips was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in New Castle. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas D. Phillips, Sr. and their daughter, Lou Ann Phillips.
Mrs. Phillips is survived by two daughters, Terry M. Davis (Larry) of New Castle and Georgine M. Kruk (Joseph) of Wilmington; two sons, Thomas I. Phillips, Jr. (Susan) of Bear and John J. Phillips (Dawn) of Warwick, Md.; eight grandchildren; and two sisters, Rose M. Barbizzi of New Castle and Marion Sullivan of Wilmington.
Services were Nov. 12 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, New Castle.
Burial was in Cathedral Cemetery, Wilmington.

Olen Sonny Reed
Olen Reed of Newark died of heart failure Thursday, November 8, 2001. He was 72.
Mr. Reed was born May 11, 1929 in Elkton, Md. and was a resident there most of his life. He retired from Motor Wheel in Newark in 1981 after 24 years of service. He enjoyed caring for his squirrels, country and western music and blue grass. Mr. Reed also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and telling them stories.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Ethel Bradley Lee and a son, Ronald L. Reed.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Frances A. Reed; two sons, Robert Lee Reed (Marsha) and Roger L. Reed (Nina), all of Newark; a daughter, Darlene Ferrara (Anthony) of Middletown; two brothers, Rubin Reed of Red Lion and Francis Reed of Smyrna; a sister, Violet Reed of Wilmington; 12 grandchildren; a great grandson; and a great granddaughter.
Services were Nov. 12 at the Gee Funeral Home, Elkton, Md.

Loraine B. Sapp
Loraine B. Sapp of Dover died Saturday, November 10, 2001 at Westminster Nursing Center, Dover. She was 83.
She was born Aug. 14, 1918 in Wilmington to Hugh and Ernestine Fuchsig Brainard.
She enjoyed a variety of activities over the years. They included camping, cruises and painting. Ms. Sapp was an avid collector of rocks that were incorporated with her love of gardening. She also enjoyed exercising and swimming at the Dover YMCA.
Ms. Sapp is survived by a son, Frank W. Boyce of Middletown; a daughter, Eleanor Engle of Lincoln; a brother, Jerome Brainard of Newark; loving companion of 18 years, John Mitchell of Dover; five grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 14 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dover.
Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
The family requests that memorial contributions be given to Compassionate Care Hospice or Kent General Home Health Care.
Pearl Ann Sarapulski
Pearl Ann Sarapulski of Middletown died Monday, November 5, 2001 at home. She was 56.
Mrs. Sarapulski was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Sarapulski, Sr., in Feb. of 2001.
She is survived by a daughter, Jodie Ann D Amico of Nottingham, Pa.; a stepson, John S. Sarapulski, Jr. of Hockessin; four stepdaughters, Joanne Price of New Castle, Theresa Magill of Wilmington, Marianne McAllees of Circleville, Ohio and Elizabeth Boleslawski of Bear; a brother, Robert Holding of Las Vegas, Nev.; a sister, Lillian Rountree (Wilson) of Hertford, N.C.; and eight grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 9 at St. Hedwig Church.
Burial was in Cathedral Cemetery.

Paul H. Sherman
Paul H. Sherman of Middletown died Friday, November 9, 2001 at his home after a long illness. He was 47.
Born in Wilmington on Nov. 30, 1953, he was raised in Wilmington Manor, New Castle and attended schools in the Colonial School District.
Mr. Sherman was a self-employed entrepreneur most of his life; his last business being Paul H. Sherman, Auto Broker in New Castle. He previously owned Tri-State Cable, Time Out Liquors and the Smoke Shop. He was a member of the American Legion Stahl Post #30 and St. Anthony s Club. He enjoyed movies, boating, the beach and picnics with family and friends.
He is survived by two daughters, Serena S. Sherman of San Francisco, Calif. and Allison Jayne Sherman of New Castle; his parents, James H. and Claire Drendall Sherman of New Castle; a brother, James H. Sherman of New Castle; four sisters, Margaret Kay Schorah and Leslie Drendall Williams, both of New Castle, Claire Ann Wilson of Glenmoore, Pa. and Kimberly Marie Boone of Stanton; and his longtime companion, Michele Justis and her children, Dan and Alexis Justis, all of Middletown.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Paul Henry and Margaret (Richardson) Sherman; and maternal grandparents, Frederick and Jane (Maslin) Drendall.
Services were held Nov. 12 at Gracelawn Memorial Park Chapel, Minquadale, New Castle.
Interment followed in the adjoining park.

Kathryn Shug L. Wolinski
Kathryn L. Wolinski of Middletown died suddenly Thursday, November 8, 2001 at home. She was 67.
Mrs. Wolinski retired from the Town of Middletown in 1997, where she worked in the town office for 27 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley Wolinski, in 1991.
She is survived by a son, Michael L. Wolinski of Middletown; two daughters, Virginia and Cathy; grandchildren, Matthew, Katie, Elizabeth and Alec; three brothers, Guy C. Lockerman, Jr. of Townsend and Willard and Paul Lockerman, both of Middletown; and a sister, Ellen Sahad of Toledo, Ohio.
Services were held Nov. 13 at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, Middletown.
Burial was in the Old St. Anne s Cemetery, Middletown.

Services were held at 12 noon Tuesday, November 12 at the Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover.
Elwood C. Altemose
Services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, November 15 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake City Rd., Bear.
Robert M. Jones
Born in Elkton, Md. on October 3, 1964, he was the son of Charlotte M. Jones of Newark and the late Paul F. Jones.
Mr. Jones was a carpenter. He was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed outdoor sports.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his son, Robert Paul Jones, of N.C.; his siblings, Job "Utah" Jones, of Smyrna, Kevin Jones, of Englewood, Col., Michelle "Sis" Pedante, of Newark, Steve "Egg" Jones, of Newark, and Michael "Nort" Jones, Daphne, Ala.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 12 at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton.
Marie A. McGrath
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., to the late Thomas and Helen Walsh Sweeney, Mrs. McGrath lived in Philadelphia before moving to her current residence 53 years ago. She most enjoyed being with and caring for her family.
Marie was the sister of the late Thomas Sweeney, Margaret Schroeder, Betty Hazelton and Andrew Sweeney. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John J. "Jack" McGrath Jr.; her son, John J. McGrath III of Ridley Park, Pa.; daughters, Marie Petkus of Townsend and Joanne M. Temple of Concord Township, Pa.; sisters, Ann Richardson of Folcroft, Pa. and Helen McGrath of Ridley Park, Pa.; and a brother, Jack Sweeney of Williamstown, N.J.
The funeral service was held at the Church of St. Madeline, Penn Street and Morton Avenue, Ridley Park.
Edgar S. Wooleyhan
Pete had farmed in the M.O.T. area for 44 years. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and his favorite pastime was fox hunting.
Pete was predeceased by three brothers, his twin, Edwin Bill, Joseph, and Ray. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Anna Sartin Wooleyhan; son Richard and his wife Doris; and daughter Phyllis Hastings and her husband Donnie, all of Middletown; also two special granddaughters, Jennifer Goff and her husband Dr. David Goff of York, Pa. and Jessica Somers of Middletown; a brother John, and a sister Louise Carland, both of Wilmington.
A funeral service was held Nov. 7 at the Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, Middletown. Interment was at Bethel Cemetery near Chesapeake City, Md.
