Mrs. Dean was born in Essington, Pa., daughter of the late Horace and Josephine (Tommany) Barto.
She was a graduate of Goldey Beacom College.
Mrs. Dean was a homemaker and will be dearly missed by her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Dean, 1991.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, Edward and Trudy Dean and Alan and Terry Dean, all of Middletown; five daughters and five sons-in-law, Nancy and James Berry of Newark, Shirley and Gerald Garrow, of Michigan, Marie and Robert Hittinger of Avondale, Pa., Helen and Kenneth Vavala of Dover and Alice and Eric Axelson of Hartly; 10 grandchildren, Darren Smith, Denise Shuman, Paul Behr, Teresa Brown, Jeffrey Hittinger, Angel Vavala, Christina Axelson, Beth Axelson, Madison Dean and Riley Dean; 13 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Dean of Wilmington; and a brother, Morris Barto of Allentown, Pa.
Services were Feb. 19 at Mealey Funeral Home, Wilmington.
Burial was in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington.

Raymond James Gatewood
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Gatewood of Warwick; five sons, Sheldon Gatewood, Brandon Gatewood and Anthony Gatewood, all of Warwick, Raymond Gatewood Jr. of Miami, Fla., and Raheem Cannon of Wilmington; and six daughters and a son-in-law, Sheila Dupervile and Alison Morman, both of Homestead, Fla., Terrell Gibbs and JuVonya and Adrian Wisher Sr., all of Warwick, Ashley Gatewood of Wilmington and Shaunta Cannon of Middletown, DE.
Services were Feb. 17, at Rehoboth Apostolic Church of God in Middletown.
Burial was at Bohemian Manor Cemetery in Chesapeake City, Md.
David C. Moorhead Sr.
Mr. Moorhead was born in 1936, in Newport News, Va.
He served as a demolition expert in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1954 to 1957.
Mr. Moorhead was a member of Local 80 Pipefitters Union in Wilmington, president of the Delaware County Beagle Club and was awarded the certificate for Outstanding Dog in the U.S. He was a member of the St. Martin s Episcopal Church, where he served on the Vestry and as property chairman for many years. In 1996, he received the Pennsylvania Association of Life Underwriters Humanitarian Award for Delaware and Chester counties and for the state. In July 2000, he received the Daily Points of Light award, which honors individuals and volunteer groups who have made a commitment to connect Americans through service to help meet critical needs in their communities, a commendation from President Clinton, Rick Santorum, Tom Ridge and Curt Weldin. He was awarded this honor for his tireless commitment and hours of service to, not only his church, St. Martins Episcopal Church in Boothwyn, Pa., but also Bryn Mawr Rehab Hospital in Malvern, Pa., where he served on Board of Directors and led the Spinal Cord Support Group.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward C. Moorhead Sr.; and a brother, Edward C. Moorhead Jr.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 29 years, Jaynet (Baxter) Moorhead; his mother, Eloise K. Moorhead of Longneck; two sons and two daughters-in-law, David C. Jr. and Mitzie Moorhead of Middletown and Edward E. and Elizabeth Moorhead of Wilmington; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathleen B. and Barry Shomo of Boothwyn, Pa., and Sharon R. and James Kress of McLean, Va.; four grandchildren, Autumn Lyn, Ryan Lee, Tommy and Allyson; three step-grandchildren, Thomas, Matthew and Bryan; a niece, Lisa Ward and her family of Newark; a nephew Edward C. Moorhead III and his family of Bainbridge, Ga.; and a host of loving cousins and extended family.
A Memorial Mass was held Feb. 17 at St. David Episcopal Church, Wilmington.
Burial was private.

Mildred D. Derickson Woodward
Mrs. Woodward was a member of the Harmony Grange No. 2 and a 75-year member of the Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband of 43 years, James L. Derickson Sr., in 1977; and by her second husband of 19 years, Horace M. Woodward, in 1999.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, James L. Jr. and Jean K. Derickson and Rodney L. and Gail S. Derickson, all of Wilmington; a daughter and a son-in-law, Mary Lou D. and Bill Boyce of Wilmington; two stepsons and two stepdaughters-in-law, David H. and Nancy J. Woodward and Ray K. and Nancy M. Woodward, all of Middletown; six grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nine step-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service of celebration was held on Feb. 21 at the Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church, Wilmington.
Burial was private.

John Cleveland
John Cleveland of Townsend, formerly of Chester, Pa. and born December 22, 1905, died Sunday, February 10, 2002 at home. He was 96.
Mr. Cleveland was a resident of Chester, Pa. for 40 years before relocating to Townsend, where he resided for the past 30 years. He was and active farmer and avid gardener.
Mr. Cleveland is survived by many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Rosella Cleveland in 1993.
The funeral was held Feb. 15 at the Catherine B. Laws Funeral Home and interment was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear.
John P. Jack Cochran
John P. Cochran of New Port Richey, Fla. died Sunday, February 17, 2002 at home. He was 68.
Mr. Cochran was born in Galena, Md. Sept. 27, 1933, son of the late Frank and Nellie McCauley Cochran. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He has lived in New Port Richey for the past 20 years where he and his family have owned and operated a concrete and wrought iron company.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Jennean Rebeschini Cochran; a son, Keith Cochran of Port Richey, Fla.; two daughters, Jacqueline Cochran and Denise Spadolini, both of New Port Richey; two sisters, Eleanor Hartnett of Smyrna and Agnes Garton of Middletown; four grandchildren, Michael and Nicholas Spadolini and Keigan and Kyler Cochran; and two great-grandchildren.
Mr. Cochran was preceded in death by six siblings, Dennis, Gene, Frank and Keith Happy Cochran, Louise Malsburger and Patsy Schauber.
Services will be held Saturday, Feb. 23 from 12 to 12:30 p.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, Galena, Md.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. in the Galena Cemetery, Galena, Md., with Father Thomas Peterman officiating.
Edwin A. Budd Dill
Edwin A. Dill of Middletown died Wednesday, February 13, 2002 suddenly at the Christiana Hospital, Newark. He was 77.
Services were held Feb. 17 at St. Joseph s Price Hall, Middletown and Feb. 18 at St. Francis Xavier Shrine, Warwick, Md.

John D. Goodman
Mr. John D, Goodman, 81, of Lewes, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at Lewes Convalescent Center, where he had been a resident for the past two years.
Mr. Goodman was born November 8, 1920 in Drumright, Okla. He started his career with Tidewater Oil Company in 1941 at Drumright, leaving in 1942 to serve three years in the US Navy during World War II. After his Navy service, he returned to the refinery. In 1956, he transferred to the Tidewater Refinery in Delaware City, where he worked and lived until his retirement in 1986 from the Texaco Refinery. In 1992, he and his wife moved to Lewes.
He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and was a member of the Delaware City Lions Club for more than 35 years in which he served in many capacities including president and secretary. He was awarded the International Lions Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He enjoyed gardening and working in his yard, traveling, and was an avid collector.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Frances M. Goodman, who passed away on June 7, 2001. He is survived by a son, James P. Goodman and his wife, Corrine, of Milford; daughter, Janelle D. Cornwell of Delaware City; 4 grandchildren, Brian J. Goodman and his wife, Lorraine of Bear, R. Keith Goodman of Bear, John B. Cornwell III of Delaware City, and James P. Cornwell of Delaware City; 4 great-grandchildren, Matt, Randi, Ryan, and Brad Goodman; brother, Robert L. Goodman and his wife, Anita of Sapulpa, Okla.; aunt, Cloe Goodman of Drumright, Okla.; 5 nephews; 3 nieces; many great nieces and nephews; and many friends and loved ones.
The funeral was held Feb. 15, at the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park and Interment was in the adjoining memorial park.

Mildred E. Singleton
Mildred E. Singleton, formerly of Newark, died Monday, February 11, 2002. She was 89.
Mrs. Singleton retired from the Wilmington School District in 1963 after 18 years of service. During the 1970s she was a volunteer in Senator Joseph Biden s office for about 3 years. Mrs. Singleton was a former member of Holy Family Church in Newark. She enjoyed cooking and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harry E. Singleton, Sr., who died in 1999. Survivors include 2 sons, Harry E. Singleton, Jr. of Middletown, Richard Singleton of Newark; daughter, Mildred E. Farren of Newark; 2 brothers, James Flick of Newark, Russell Flick of Manglow, Pa.; 5 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held Feb. 14 and interment was in Gracelawn Memorial Park. The family suggests contributions in memory of Mrs. Singleton to the Needy Family Fund by contacting 324-2560.
Cynthia Terp
Cynthia Cindy M. Terp of Delaware City, died Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Christiana Hospital. She was 52.
Born on February 1, 1950 in Wilmington, Mrs. Terp was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul's Parish, the Delaware City Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and the Delaware City Recreation Club. Mrs Terp enjoyed cross-stitching and traveling, and she loved her pet dog, Neon.
She is survived by her husband of 16 years, James P. Terp; mother, Virginia Lovett of Delaware City; 2 sisters, Kathleen McMichael and Geraldine Wood, both of Delaware City; 2 nieces; 3 nephews; and 1 great nephew. She was preceded in death by her father, Royden Lovett, and a sister, Marjorie Brounce.
Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, Feb. 15, 2002, at St. Paul's R.C. Church. Interment was in New St. Paul's Cemetery, Delaware City.

Theresa G. Walker
Theresa G. Walker of West Minquadale, New Castle died Friday, February 15, 2002 at Harbor Health Care, Lewes. She was 88.
Mrs. Walker had been a remotivator aide with the Delaware State Hospital, retiring in 1975 after 20 years of service. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Minquadale Fire Company for more than 50 years and was the first president of the organization. She also served as financial secretary and was the chaplain for many years.
Mrs. Walker was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Parish, was the past president of the Minquadale School P.T.A. and was also active in the Democratic Party for many years.
She is survived by five children, Mary Jane DeMatteis of Grendon Farms, Betty Caldwell of Lamatan, John W. Walker of Middletown, William V. Walker of Abingdon, Md. and Judy A. Grello of Rehoboth Beach; 22 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles V. Walker, in 1997; and son, Charles W. Walker.
Services were held Feb. 20 at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, New Castle.
Entombment was in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Minquadale, New Castle.

Mary Jo Watts
Mary Jo Watts of Delaware City died Wednesday, February 13, 2002 at Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 38.
Ms. Watts was a homemaker. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two children, Seirra Lynn Watts of Chesapeake City, Md. and Teyonna S. Watts of Delaware City; her mother, Lona L. Watts of Delaware City; two brothers, John L. Watts, Jr. (Tina) and Robert F. Watts, both of Delaware City; a sister, Patricia F. Mitchell (Fred) of Bear; adopted sister, Dawn Sturgeon of Delaware City; and boyfriend, Mark.
She was preceded in death by her father, John L. Watts, Sr.
Services were held Feb. 19 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, Delaware Ctiy.
Interment was in Old St. Paul's Cemetery, Delaware City.
Mary Anna Wright
Mary Anna Wright of Delaware City died Friday, February 15, 2001. She was 99.
Mrs. Wright was employed for 18 years in the Wilmington Rayon Silk Mill. She retired from Governor Bacons Health Care Center where she was a nurse s aid and practical nurse.
She is survived by a sister, Arlina R. Nichols of Delaware City; and five nephews, Jacob M. Nowland, Clarence R. Sweetman, Jr., Ronald L. Sweetman, Robert Daniels, Thomas Daniels and Thomas L. Nowland.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence L. Wright, in 1974.
Services were held Feb. 20 at Gebhart Funeral Home, Olde New Castle.
Interment was in Gracelawn Memorial Park, Minquadale, New Castle.

Services were Monday, Feb. 17 at Galena Funeral Home.
Betty Anne Coleman
A graduate of the University of Delaware, she retired as a teacher from the Christina School District, Newark. Her memberships included the National Wildlife Federation, Ducks Unlimited, and Delaware Nature Society.
Ms. Coleman was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene F. "Buck" Coleman, Jr. and Anna Scott Coleman.
Survivors include her brother, Eugene F. Coleman, III, of Middletown, with whom she lived; an uncle, William H. Scott, and aunt and uncle, Lillie and Howard Peterson, all of Elkton.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 21, at Hicks Home for Funerals, 103 W. Stockton St., Elkton, where family and friends may call after 1:30 p.m. Interment will be in Bethel Cemetery, Chesapeake City, Md.
Leora Zimmerman
She was a member of the Kenton Mennonite Church. She was a homemaker and a bookkeeper for her husband's business, Kenton Chair Shop.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Florence (Weldy) Miller; and one sister, Mariam (Miller) Good. She is survived by her husband of 29 years, Fred M. Zimmerman of Kenton, three daughters, Regina Zimmerman, wife of Marvin Zimmerman of Pine Grove, Pa. and Leanna and Rosalie Zimmerman at home; and four sons, Ethan Zimmerman, husband of Bethany (Allgyer) Zimmerman of Sudlersville, Md., Jesse Zimmerman, husband of Jolene (Weaver) Zimmerman of Galena, Md., Jason Zimmerman, husband of Michelle (Wenger) Zimmerman of Wolcott, Vermont and Winfred Zimmerman at home.
She is also survived by five grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Mast of Amelia, Va.; and two brothers, Cleotis Miller of West Chesterfield, N.H. and Larry Miller of Amelia, Va.
Services were on Monday, Feb. 17 at the Smyrna Church of Christ in Smyrna. Burial followed in Kenton Mennonite Cemetery.
Catherine Elaine Derrickson
Catherine Elaine Derrickson, age 65 of Delaware City, died on Monday, February 7, at Christiana Hospital. She was 65.
A native Delawarean, Elaine was born in Wilmington on September 26, 1939, daughter of the late Frank Miles Derrickson and Catherine Mary Netsch Derrickson.
She was a graduate of both Goldey Beacom College and the University of Delaware, and worked for WDEL/WSTW in Wilmington before joining Occidental Chemical Company in Delaware City as an administrative assistant.
Following her retirement from Occidental, Elaine worked at Fort Delaware State Park.
She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Delaware City, where she was the church organist.
Active in her community throughout her life, Elaine devoted herself to the betterment of Delaware City and its citizens.
She was a member of the Delaware City Town Council and the Parks Commission, as well as the Delaware City Historical Society, the Canal Fest Committee, the Bicentennial Committee, the Fort Delaware Society, and the Main Street Committee.
Elaine was a central and well-loved figure in Delaware City and will be sadly missed.
She is survived by several cousins; and many good friends.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 11, 2005, at the First Presbyterian Church of Delaware City, 138 Jefferson Street, Delaware City.
