Orville Blane 'Toby' Bragg, 71
YORK, Pa. - Orville Blane "Toby" Bragg died from complications of Alzheimer's disease, Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in York. He was 71.
Mr. Bragg was born Feb. 5, 1929, in Fayette, W.Va., the son of the late Ira J. and Mary I. (Cox) Bragg.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an airman radioman.
Mr. Bragg was a machinist and supervisor with Westinghouse Electric Corp., Oceanic Division, Annapolis, Md., retiring with 23 years of service.
He will be best remembered for "building and fixing" everything, always helping other people, telling jokes and performing magic tricks for the children.
Mr. Bragg was the president of the Belvedere Community Association, community special police, a Boy Scout scoutmaster leader and a coach for several Little League baseball teams.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Barbara Ellen (Meyers) Bragg; two sons, Toby L. Bragg and Frederick R. Bragg; and five brothers, Milford M. Bragg, William H. Bragg, Robert G. Bragg, Arlie W. Bragg and Adrian J. Bragg.
He is survived by two sons, Richard B. Bragg of Henderson, Md., and William E. Bragg, of Salisbury, Md.; a daughter, Linda E Anderson, of York; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Jason, Tricia and Julia; a brother, Ceibert C. Bragg, of Greenwood, Del.; and a sister, Ruth Ross of Tallahassee, Fla.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro, Md.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Mr. Bragg's nephew, Thomas Bragg, officiating.
Following the service on Saturday, there will be a gathering at Moose Lodge 2332 in Caroline County, 3 miles from the funeral home.

Paul Marvin Cronshaw, 71
PERRYVILLE, Md. - Paul Marvin Cronshaw, of Owens Landing, Perryville, and formerly of Wilmington, Del., where he and his wife lived for 44 years, died Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2001, in his home. He was 71.
Mr. Cronshaw was born March 26, 1929, in Price, son of the late James Henry Cronshaw and Rosa Lee Morris Cronshaw.
He attended Centreville High School and played on its soccer team that won the Maryland State Championship for two consecutive years.
He was retired from General Motors, Newport, Del., where he was employed for 30 years as an assembly line worker.
Mr. Cronshaw was a member of First Baptist Church of Perryville, where he was the head usher, a co-founder of the Seniors Ministry and a greeter.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Elizabeth Cronshaw, in 1957; two brothers, Kennard Cronshaw and Roy Cronshaw; and a sister, Marie Holland.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bessie Ida Cronshaw of Perryville; a special aunt, Minnie Cronshaw of Chestertown; two sons, Paul Frederick Cronshaw, of Landenberg, Pa., and Mark James Cronshaw, of Chicago; a daughter, Linda Lee Gauger, of Perryville; three sisters, Mildred Rice and Betty Dulling, both of Dover, Del., and Evelynn Palmotory, of Church Hill; and seven grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5-9 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Perryville.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in Sudlersville Cemetery, Sudlersville.

Frances Adelaide Ferguson, 78
REHOBOTH BEACH - Frances Adelaide Ferguson, of Rehoboth Beach, died Sunday, Jan. 14, 2001, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 78.
She was preceded by her husband, James C. Ferguson in 1985.
She is survived by a daughter, Frances Ruth Hurley, of Rehoboth Beach; a son, Timothy W. Ferguson, of Rockville, Md.; a sister, Esther L. Viar of Lanham, Md.; two grandchildren.
Service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes. Friends may call one hour prior to service. The Rev. Michael Hurley officiated.
Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.

Herman Monroe 'Pop' Henry, 99
GEORGETOWN, Md. - Herman Monroe "Pop" Henry, of Georgetown, died Saturday, Jan. 13, 2001, in Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital in Chestertown. He was 99.
Mr. Henry was born Sept. 15, 1901, in Baltimore, the son of the late Issac and Catherine Elizabeth Brookens Henry.
He attended school in Kent County Public School.
He was employed by the Vital Foods Inc., Aberdeen Proving Grounds, as a bus driver for Kent County Public Schools, and held various other jobs.
Mr. Henry was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Georgetown.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Goldie Elizabeth Wicks; a daughter, Jeanette Henry; and a daughter-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" Henry.
He is survived by a wife and best friend of more than 75 years, Henrietta Grinnell Henry; two daughters, Martha C. Henry, of Georgetown, and Doris Henry Robinson, of Pondtown; three sons, Herman R. Henry, of Colemans Corner, Lycurgus R. Henry, of Georgetown, and Oliver Monroe Henry, of Newark, Del.; a brother-in-law, Oscar Grinnell; two daughters-in-law, Anna Mae Henry and Vanessa Wilbon-Henry; 20 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; and Orvin B. Elliott, whom he thought of as a son.
Service will be l p.m. Wednesday at Asbury United Methodist Church, Georgetown, where friends may call two hours prior to service. The Rev. Carol Hopkins will officiate.
Burial will be in Asbury United Methodist Cemetery.

Doris M. Horner, 76
MILLSBORO - Doris M. Horner, of Millsboro, formerly of Fernhook, New Castle, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in her home. She was 76.
Mrs. Horner had been as adjudicator at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Elsmere, retiring in 1983 after 30 years.
She enjoyed travelling through the country and bird watching,
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Howard M. Horner, five children, William H. Morrow Jr., of Newark, Ronnie J. Morrow, of Hagerstown, Md.; Howard M. Homer Jr., of New Castle; Norma L. Nachtigal, of Virginia Beach, Va., and Margaret Conti, of Harrisburg, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, Minquadale, New Castle.
Burial will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 DuPont Highway, Georgetown, DE, 19947.

Benita Spry Hyland, 58
WORTON, Md. - Benita Spry Hyland, of Worton, died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in her home. She was 58.
Mrs. Hyland was born Oct. 20,1942, in Chestertown, the daughter of John B. Jr. and June Maslin Spry of Chestertown.
She was a 1960 graduate of Chestertown High School.
Mrs. Hyland worked in local retail stores.
On August 10, 1975 she married William Edward Hyland, Sr. In 1977, they moved to New York and later in 1987 moved back to the area where she owned and operated an antique store, "Classy Close" in Chestertown, and later the "Cobweb" in Rock Hall, where she worked until the time of her retirement in 1998 due to her health.
She was a member of the Rock Hall Church of God, the Chestertown Ladies of the Elks and the Rock Hall American Legion Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by four sons; Richard Newsome Jr. and Gregory Todd Newsome, both of Worton, William Edward Hyland Jr., of Tampa, Fla., and Michael Scott Hyland, of Worton; a daughter, Debra Legg, of Still Pond; two brothers, Robert Spry, of Fredericksburg, Va., and John Spry III, of Chestertown; two sisters, Linda Miller, of Dover, Del., and Mary Beals, of Chestertown, and two grandchildren, Morgan Legg and Spencer Legg, both of Still Pond.
Memorial service will be 7 p.m. Thursday at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Chestertown.

Irene Gladys Jones, 70
GEORGETOWN - Irene Gladys Jones, of Georgetown, formerly of Bridgeton, N.J., died Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes.
Mrs. Jones lived in Florida, where she worked for the Jim Walter Corp.'s Morrison's Cafeteria in Tampa for 12 years. She then returned to Bridgeton, where she was employed as a crossing guard for eight years prior to moving to Georgetown.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry W. Jones, of Georgetown; two sons, Bob Pettit, of Georgetown, and Richard Pettit of Hopewell, N.J.; two daughters, Karen Jones and Lisa Jones, both of Georgetown; three sisters, Dorothy Williams and Laura Williams, both of Bridgeton, and Doris Galley, of Millville, N.J.; a brother, Elmer Hutton, of Millville; two dear friends, Betty and Bob O'Day, of Georgetown; 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Parsell Funeral Homes, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 907 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.

Marion V. Perry, 81
LINCOLN - Marion V. Perry of Lincoln died Friday, March 23, 2001, in her home. She was 81.
Mrs. Perry was born Nov. 28, 1919, in Bayside, Va.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Perry was a member of the Union Baptist Church, where she was a missionary, pastor's aide, seamstress, and kitchen aid.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Perry.
She is survived by a sister, Dorothy Scarborough of Painter, Va.; two brothers, Alphonso and Ralph Scarborough of Painter; and host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight at the United Baptist Church.
Service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Burial will be in Old Fellow Cemetery.

Maud Husflet Price, 98
CECILTON, Md. - Maud Husflet Price of Cecilton died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Laurel Wood Nursing Center in Elkton. She was 98.
Mrs. Price was born Oct. 25, 1902, in Earleville, daughter of the late William and Sarah Bennett Husfelt.
She was a homemaker raising her family on the family farm in Warwick.
She enjoying cooking and gardening.
Mrs. Price was a life member of Zion United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Julian E. Price, in 1975.
She is survived by two sons, Norman Harold Price of Middletown, Del., and Julian F. Price of Cecilton; a daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Lewis of Baltimore; two grandchildren, Elizabeth A. Fitzer and Sarah L. Lewis, both of Baltimore and a great-grandchild, Julia Fitzer of Baltimore.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday Zion Cemetery in Cecilton.

Frances Kreeger Tully, 79
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Frances Kreeger Tully of Chestertown died of cancer Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in her home. She was 79.
Mrs. Tully was born in Chestertown, the daughter of the late J. Samuel and Fannie Anthony Kreeger.
She was a 1938 graduate of Chestertown High School and a 1942 cum laude graduate of Washington College.
After college, she worked briefly for the RCA Corp. in Philadelphia.
She married Dr. Basil Tully in 1943 and returned to her hometown.
She enjoyed golf and tennis and spent her life actively involved in sports.
Mrs. Tully was a member of the Emmanuel Episcopal Church, where she served as president of the Women of Emmanuel. She was a past president of the Women's League of Washington College, a past board member of the Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital and a past board member of the Kent County unit of the American Red Cross. She also served as past president of the Women's Peninsula Goat Association. She was also a member of the Chester River Yacht and Country Club. She particularly enjoyed time spent near the Chester River.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Gail Tully Owen of Baltimore; and a grandson, Peter Tully Owen of Baltimore.
Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Chestertown, with the Rev. Gregory Straub.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Kent County Unit of the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 711, Chestertown, MD 21620.

Ruth M. Silbereisen, 92
MILFORD - Ruth M. Silbereisen of Milford died natural causes Thursday, March 29, 2001, in her home. She was 92.
Mrs. Silbereisen was born Nov. 21, 1908, in Andersville, daughter of the late Clifford Morris and Hannah Shoemaker Morris.
She had worked at the Silco Store in Milford for 10 years, and she also drove a taxi cab for the Checker Cab Co. in Milford for 10 years.
She was always willing to help others, volunteering many hours helping people in need. She liked to crochet.
Mrs. Silbereisen was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Andersville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Willis and Woody Morris.
She was survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Harry Lee Silboreisen; a son, Holland M. Fisher of Federalsburg, Md.; three grandchildren, Donna Lynn Owens of Seaford, Holland Lee Fisher of Milford and Virginia Ruth Ann Fisher of Hurlock; seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Fleischauer Funeral. Home, Greenwood, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery in Harrington.

Quinton Garfield Smith Sr., 80
HOUSTON - Quinton Garfield Smith Sr. of Houston died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital in Dover. He was 80.
Mr. Smith was employed with the Pennsylvania Railroad. He also worked most of his life as a truck driver for the A.I. Scott, Bill Stokes and Earl Thomas, trucking companies. After retiring from trucking, he worked part-time as a horse groomsman at Harrington Raceway.
His pride and joys were his children, their spouses and his grandchildren. He loved to drive his pickup truck to and from Harrington, just to socialize with friends and neighbors. He will always be remembered as a farmer and a handyman. He always had to be doing something. He loved baseball and loved to play.
Mr. Smith was a member of the St. Paul AME Church in Harrington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sarah V. Smith and a son, Quinton G. Smith Jr. in 1995.
He is survived by three sons, William Wayne Smith of Harrington, and George and Charles Smith, both of Lincoln; seven daughters, Gloria Smith, Janet Stewart, Dorothy Smith all of Harrington, Debra Smith of Milford, Darlene Henderson of Houston, Wanda LeGrand of Greenwood and Sharon McMillion of Frederica; four sons-in-law, James Stewart, Moses Henderson, Raymond LeGrand and James McMillion; two daughters-in-law, Emma and Wardella Smith; a brother, Alfred Smith of Harrington; three sisters-in-law, Louise, Patricia, and Charlotte Smith; three brothers-in-law, Charles, Leroy and David Coverdale; 37 grandchildren; 71 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren and host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the St. Paul Church, Harrington, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Williamsville Cemetery, Williamsville.

Albert George Fleetwood, 85
SEAFORD - Albert George Fleetwood of Seaford died Saturday, March 29, 2003, in Genesis Eldercare, Seaford. He was 85.
Mr. Fleetwood was born in Seaford, son of the late Paul S. and Elsie Massey Fleetwood.
He worked for the E.I. DuPont Co. plant in Seaford from 1945 until 1981, when he retired. He was a shipping clerk while he was at E.I. DuPont.
He loved doing carpentry work, especially refinishing furniture. He also loved working in his garden as well as watching the purple martins in his yard. He also loved to travel with his wife. Family life was very important to him and he loved his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much.
Mr. Fleetwood was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Laurel.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Fleetwood of Denver, Colo. and Charles 'Danny' Fleetwood of Albuquerque, N.M.; a daughter, Janice Fleetwood-Bean of Barnard, Vt.; a brother, Everett Fleetwood of Seaford; a sister, Dorothy Rogers of Laurel; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Short Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Laurel. Pastor Richard Walton will officiate.

Lillie May Hughes, 75
SMYRNA - Lillie May Hughes of Smyrna, formerly of Pennsylvania, died of complications from leukemia Saturday, March 29, 2003, in Christiana Hospital, Newark, with her loved ones by her side. She was 75.
Mrs. Hughes was the daughter of the late William and Catherine O'Connor Fry.
She enjoyed assisting her sons in their local business. She enjoyed gardening and collecting lawn tatuary. She especially delighted in spring with the blooming of her dogwood trees, Easter lilies, hyacinths and azaleas. Very dear to her heart were the times she spent with her family.
She was a devoted housewife and a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was well known and loved by many members of her community.
Mrs. Hughes was a long time member of the Smyrna-Clayton Moose Lodge.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Tex) Hughes; two brothers, John and Chester Fry; a sister, Nelly Fry; and a granddaughter-in-law, Renee Newlin.
She is survived by her five children, Susan Newlin of Cape Coral, Fla., Roy Newlin and his wife, Lynne, of Clayton, Gene Hilliard of Clayton, Linda Mitchell and her husband Rick of Clayton and Barbara Melvin-Williams and her husband Steve Williams of Smyrna; 13 grandchildren, Chris, Regina and husband Duane, JR, Michele and husband Chris, Kelly and her husband Dan, Cathy, Toni Lyn, Kimberly, Kristen and her husband Scott, Shea and her husband Brit, Stephen, Jamann and JW; eight great-grandchildren, Shawn, Jeffrey, Danielle, Samantha, Logan, Haley, Hannah and Kenny; and a sister, Anna Fry of Pennsylvania.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Faries Funeral Home, Smyrna, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Summit.

John 'Jack' Xanten, 81
OCEAN VIEW - John 'Jack' Xanten of Ocean View, formerly of Washington, D.C., died Friday, March 28, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 81.
Mr. Xanten graduated from Western High School.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He retired from Evans Printing Company in 1983.
Mr. Xanten was a member of Mason-Dixon VFW Post 7234 in Ocean View.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Imogene.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today in the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View.
Services with Military honors will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, Millsboro. Pastor Art Decker will officiate.
