DENTON, Md. - Louise V. Wright of Denton died Sunday, Nov. 3, 2002, in the Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. She was 79.
Mrs. Wright was born in Easton, daughter of the late Thomas Clinton Williamson and Anna Bell Lord Williamson.
She had been a homemaker all of her life.
Mrs. Wright attended the Greensboro Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cannon C. Wright, on Sept. 7, 1995.
She is survived by a son, Glenn C. Wright of Denton; a daughter, Marsha W. Heanne of Dunnellon, Fla.; six grandchildren, Glenn Cannon Wright, John Wright, Dana K. Wright, Benjamin F. Wright, Manibeth Hubband McMurrer and Shannon Glenn Hopper; and two great-grandchildren, Justin and Jordan.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Greensboro Baptist Church, Sunset Avenue, Greensboro, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the Concord Church Cemetery.

Frances V. 'Fran' Cordeiro, 74
TOWNSEND - Frances V. "Fran" Cordeiro of Townsend died of congestive heart failure Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, in Christiana Hospital of Christiana Care, Newark. She was 74.
Mrs. Cordeiro was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence S. Cordeiro.
She is survived by four sons, Lawrence Cordeiro Sr., Richard Cordeiro, Thomas Cordeiro and Kenneth Cordeiro; a daughter, Linda Nolan; a brother, Antonio Severino; two sisters-in-law, Josephine Gentis and Millie Ricard; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be private.

John W. Martick, 72
SANDY HOOK, Conn. - John W. Martick of Sandy Hook died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in Branford. He was 72.
Mr. Martick retired from Sikorsky Aircraft Co. in 1987 after 37 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eileen Schultz Martick, and a sister, Anna Gerazin.
He is survived by a son, John T. Martick of Sandy Hook; a daughter, Eileen Martick of Naugatuck; a sister, Veronica Connor Weaver of Dover, Del.; a stepbrother, George Lesnick of Henderson, Nev.; a granddaughter, Kristen Stikkle of New Haven; and a grandson, Jason Stikkle of Beacon Falls.
Services were in the Larson Funeral Home, Bridgeport.
Burial was in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.

Caroline L. Jones Norwood Meredith, 76
BLADES - Caroline L. Jones Norwood Meredith of Blades died of cancer Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2002, in her home. She was 76.
Ms. Meredith was born in Greenport, Long Island, N.Y., daughter of the late Corbett T. and Bernice Truex Jones.
She was a cook, retiring in 1998 from the Seaford Senior Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert H. Norwood Sr., in 1968; and her second husband, Kenneth E. Meredith, in 1984; and three brothers, Walston Jones, Corbett Jones and Francis Jones.
She is survived by three sons, Robert H. Norwood and Ronald A. Norwood, both of Blades, and Randall D. Norwood of Seaford; two daughters, Ramona F. Vincent and Kathleen M. Rawlins, both of Seaford; a sister, Gertrude J. Crossman of Seaford; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and Kings streets, Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Douglas Albert will officiate.
Burial will be in Blades Cemetery, Blades.
Gordon Franklin Pruitt, 59
LAUREL - Gordon Franklin Pruitt of Laurel, formerly of Nanticoke, Md., died of complications of cancer Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, in his home. He was 59.
Mr. Pruitt was born in Tangier Island, Va., son of the late Arthur S. and Louise Crockett Pruitt.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
He was a salesman for Murry's Steaks in Salisbury, Md., for 23 years.
Mr. Pruitt loved fishing and crabbing and gardening. He loved the outdoors. He was a Miami Dolphins fan. He was a loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Madeline Thomas.
He is survived by two sons, Stephen Franklin Pruitt of Laurel and Michael Dean Taylor of Delmar, Md.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Tammy Pruitt of Wichita, Kan., Gail A. and Richard Prouse of Salisbury and Annette Bennett of Laurel; 10 grandchildren, Katelynn V. Pruitt, Stephen D. Pruitt, Hunter A. Pruitt, Harley C. Taylor, Anthony Taylor, Whitney L. Taylor, Brittany N. Prouse, Jonathan R. Prouse, Daniel R. Prouse and Ashley L. Bennett; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 4 p.m. Monday in Short Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel.

Marie E. Stoops, 77
MILLSBORO - Marie E. Stoops, of Pot-Nets Park near Millsboro, formerly of New Castle, died of cancer Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, in the home of her daughter. She was 77.
Mrs. Stoops served in the Women's Army Corps of the U.S. Army during World War II.
She was a retired president of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union local in Wilmington, and had worked for the Wiltex Co. for 30 years.
She was an avid bowler years ago.
Mrs. Stoops was a member and past second vice commander of American Legion Post 28 at Riverdale-Oak Orchard and past chairman of Children and Youth at that post.
She was preceded in death by her father, Irvin D. Ruede; her mother, Edith; a brother, Irvin D. Ruede Jr.; and her husband, Horace N. Stoops Jr., in 1981.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Janet Rae and Joseph J. Kansak; a grandson, Joseph J. Kansak Jr., as well as Mr. Kansak's fiancee, Melissa R. Lynch; and her companion, Norman Young.
Services will be private.

Robert E. Lee Bilbrough, 57
BEAR - Robert E. Lee Bilbrough of Bear died of complications of cancer Thursday, Oct. 31, 2002, in his home. He was 57.
Mr. Bilbrough was born in Greensboro, Md., son of the late Thomas S. and Virgie Mae (Bullock) Bilbrough.
He worked as a meat-cutter for Pathmark for seven years, and before that, spent 26 years with Shop-n-Bag.
Mr. Bilbrough enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and attending his daughter's softball games.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy M. Draper and Ruthann Redifer.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ruth A. (Ludwick) Bilbrough; a daughter, Erin A. Bilbrough; four brothers, Paul D. of Dover, Thomas S. of Denton, Md., Russell of Harleysville, Pa., and Ronald of Greensboro; and three sisters, Betty L. Richardson of Shelby, N.C., Joyce F. Bilbrough of Daytona Beach, Fla., and Peggy L. Hall of Dover,
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a life celebration from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Beeson Memorial Services Newark, 2053 Pulaski Highway (U.S. 40), Fox Run.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the memorial services facility, where relatives and friends also may attend a life celebration one hour earlier.

John W. LeGates, 56
MILTON - John W. LeGates of Milton died Monday, May 21, 2001, in his home, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 56.
Mr. LeGates was born in Croydon, Pa., son of the late William N. LeGates Sr. and Anna Wickowski LeGates.
He was a cable splicer for Verizon Communication for 35 years.
He was an avid supporter of Cape Henlopen lacrosse and was a member of the Mid-Del Archers. He had been a past state and national archery champion. He enjoyed bow hunting, gardening and masterfully nurturing beautiful roses from his garden.
He was a member of the Abundant Life Church, Georgetown, and was involved with its ministries at Harrison House, Georgetown. He enjoyed ministering to local children, from taking them his homegrown roses to trips to Three Little Bakers, Wilmington.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William N. LeGates Jr., in 1972.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Carol Ann (Brittingham) LeGates; a son and daughter-in-law, David W. and Regina LeGates; a brother, Clement S. "Clem" LeGates of Milton; a sister, Elizabeth L. Pepper of Gravel Hill; three grandchildren, Danielle M. LeGates, Derek C. LeGates and Marissa N. LeGates, all of Lewes; three nieces, Kimberly Beard, Shelly Brown and Dawn Adams; and two nephews, Thomas Pepper III and William Pepper.

Doris A. Patillo, 56
SMYRNA - Doris A. Patillo of Smyrna died of natural causes Monday, May 21, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 56.
Mrs. Patillo was born May 2, 1945, in Adrian, Mich., daughter of the late Murlan Renner and R. Jessie (Cubberly) Renner.
She was employed with Friendly Home Parties, Albany, N.Y., as a sales manager for 25 years, retiring in 2000.
She enjoyed sewing.
Mrs. Patillo was a member of Grace Apostolic Church in Kennedyville, Md., and she was a past senior regent of the Smyrna-Clayton Moose Lodge.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Patillo; a son, James Patillo of Millington, Md.; a daughter, Dorene Gatewood of Baltimore; two sisters, Irene Peters of Saginaw, Mich., and Lorriane Disselbrett of Felton; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.
Committal service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
Leroy Webb Jr., 91
MILLSBORO - Leroy Webb Jr. of Millsboro died Monday, May 21, 2001, in Green Valley Terrace, Millsboro. He was 91.
Mr. Webb was born in Bridgeville, son of the late Leroy and Bertha Harris Webb Sr.
He worked at the Stockley Center, near Georgetown, as a farm supervisor, retiring in 1974 after 33 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel E. Truitt Webb, in 1977; a grandson, Jeffrey A. Donaway, on Nov. 21, 2000; two brothers, Woodrow Webb and Frank Webb; and three sisters, Bertha Willey, Delema O'Day and Mildred West.
He is survived by four daughters, Grace Wilkerson of Snow Hill, Md., Betty Mumford of Millsboro, Doris Niblett and Pat Holston, both of Georgetown; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior to the ceremony.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
James E. Wilkinson, 55
LEIPSIC - James E. Wilkinson of Leipsic died Tuesday, May 22, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 55.
Mr. Wilkinson was born Nov. 27, 1945, in Chestertown, Md., son of George and Margaret Wilkinson Jr.
He retired from Chrysler after 36 years of service.
He enjoyed drawing, reading and working in his workshop at home.
Mr. Wilkinson was a life member of Leipsic Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Martha S. Wilkinson of Leipsic; a son, James E. Wilkinson Jr. of Leipsic; a daughter, Tina L. Jacobs of Dover; three sisters, Marlene Renee Lowman of Smyrna, Peggy Truitt of Felton and Connie Gearhart of Dover; his pride and joy grandchild, Dylan; eight nieces and nephews; and his granddogs, Peppe, Sadie, Saber and Gus.
A remembrance service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to the ceremony. The Rev. Charlene Evans will officiate.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Lora Mae Winborne, 80
HENDERSON, Md. - Lora Mae Winborne of Henderson died of natural causes Tuesday, May 22, 2001, in The Memorial Hospital at Easton. She was 80.
Mrs. Winborne was born March 10, 1921, in Raleigh County, W.Va., son of the late Milton Franklin and Reva M. Basham Crews.
She was a homemaker.
She moved to the area in 1987 from Appomattox, Va.
Mrs. Winborne was a member of the Living Waters Assembly of God Church, Denton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Wade E. Toler, in 1988 after 52 years of marriage; and her second husband, Alpheous L. Winborne, whom she married in 1990 and who died in 1994; and a daughter, Sharon Lee Backnell, in 1967.
She is survived by a son, Wade E. Toler Jr. of Mount Pleasant, Ariz.; three daughters, Carol Burack of Ridgely, Claudette Marie Toler of Waynesboro, Ga., and Reva Mae Kirk of Zephyrhills, Fla.; seven grandchildren, David A. Burack, Lora M. Bryner, Sherri L. Forkey, Christopher S. Kirk, Jonathan W. Burack, Jeffrey W. Burack and Michael A. Kirk; and five great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 until 9 p.m. Thursday at Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home P.A., Greensboro.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Living Waters Assembly of God Church, Double Hills Road, Denton.

Lewis I. Atwell Jr., 80
TOWNSEND - Lewis I. Atwell Jr. of Townsend died Sunday, May 18, 2003, surrounded by his loving family. He was 80.
Mr. Atwell was born and raised in Galena, Md., son of the late Irving and Evelyn Stidham Atwell.
He was a graduate of Galena High School.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. St. Louis CL 49 from 1942 to 1945.
Mr. Atwell retired from civil service of Dover Air Force Base and had worked in the T.M.O. area.
His most cherished times were spending time with his family.
Mr. Atwell was a life member of the U.S.S. St. Louis Association, Sgt. William Lloyd Nelson Post 3792, Middletown, and Chester Lodge 115 in Chestertown. He also served as a trustee of the Old Union Historical Society and was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church in Middletown.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Louise Powell Atwell; a son and daughter-in-law, David Lewis and Deborah Atwell of Rockland, Maine; a daughter and son-in-law, Lyn Atwell and James Frazier of Middletown; six grandchildren, James T. Frazier Jr., Laurie R. Frazier, Nathanael O. Atwell, Olney P. Atwell, Nicole C. Frazier and Tegan S. Atwell; three sisters, Mildred Wallace of Quarryville, Pa., Virginia Hazlett of Clayton and Elizabeth Ann Reed of Smyrna; and a brother, James P. Atwell.
Services will be 2 p.m. today in Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.

Sarah Elizabeth Cannon, 81
BRIDGEVILLE - Sarah Elizabeth Cannon of Bridgeville died Tuesday, May 20, 2003, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 81.
Ms. Cannon was born Aug. 28, 1921.
She was a member of Trinity U.M. Church in Bridgeville.
She is survived by five sons, Thomas, Frederick Wayne and Larry Cannon, all of Seaford, and Richard and Merle Cannon of Seaford; two daughters, Lorraine Smith of Bridgeville and Delphine Cannon of Frederica; a brother, John Cannon of Bridgeville; two sisters, Catherine Burbage of Bridgeville and Cleo Nichols of Seaford; 22 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Trinity United Methodist Church, Bridgeville, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Trinity UM Church Cemetery.

Nellie Ann Cummings, 91
GEORGETOWN - Nellie Ann Cummings of Georgetown died Thursday, May 22, 2003, in her home. She was 91.
Mrs. Cummings was a private duty nurse.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford.
She is survived by two sons, Harry Cummings of Akron, Ohio, and Christopher Cummings of Balston Spa, Neb.; six daughters, Carol Rementer, Catherine Cummings and Rosemary Figgs, all of Georgetown, Beth Zedney of Newark, Mary Ellen Armbruster of Ravenna, Ohio, and Joan Weiser of Columbus, Ohio; 22 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Stein Highway, Seaford.

O. Wayne Eakin, 56
GREENWOOD - O. Wayne Eakin of Greenwood died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, in his home surrounded by his family, after a long illness. He was 56.
Mr. Eakin was born in Denison, Texas.
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Air Force. He took great pride in his country, and spent eight years in the Air Force, including a three-year tour in the Vietnam War.
Mr. Eakin was an entrepreneur. He wore many hats in his lifetime and excelled in everything that he did. Later in life, Mr. Eakin was a homebuilder and developer of several communities, including John-Char Estates of Harrington, which he truly enjoyed.
He was first and foremost a dedicated Christian, husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed.
In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he was very fond of golfing. He had a love for horses, and being a true Texan, he enjoyed roping and reining horses.
Mr. Eakin was a member of Harrington Moose Lodge 534, American Legion, Paralyzed American Vets, American Quarter Horse Association and Shawnee Country Club. He was also a member of American Agriculture USA, where he was a founder of the Delaware movement forming the tractorcade on the East Coast to Washington, D.C., in 1977. This led to the development of alternative fuels to enhance the grain prices for the American farmer and decrease dependence on foreign fuel.
He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Cynde Andrews Eakin of Greenwood; a daughter, Paula Pulcinella of Lewes; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne A. and Melissa Eakin and Matthew D. Eakin, all of Seaford; and three grandchildren, Zachary D. Pulcinella, Sydney Mae Pulcinella and Andrew Michael Eakin.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pilgrim Chapel, Milford-Harrington Highway, Harrington, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. G. Ervin Shreckengast will officiate.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
