Elizabeth P. West Bahn, 84
MILLSBORO - Elizabeth P. West Bahn of Millsboro died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, in Kennedy Hospital in Turnersville, N.J. She was 84.
Mrs. Bahn was born in Gumboro, daughter of the late Jacob H. West Sr. and Lizzie Ann Oliphant West.
She was the office manager for Elwood Workman and Sons, Georgetown, for about 25 years, retiring several years ago.
Mrs. Bahn was a member of the Blackwater Fellowship Church, Roxana, and of the Ladies Auxiliary of the VFW Post 7422, Millsboro, and was a former volunteer with Delaware Hospice. Through the years, she was the family caregiver whenever necessary.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Levi Bahn, Sept. 29, 2002.
She is survived by a son, Gerald E. Bahn of Turnersville, with whom she had lived for the last year; two brothers, Charles P. West of Gumboro and Jacob H. West Jr. of Millsboro; and three grandchildren Amy E. Bahn, Mark E. Bahn and Matthew T. Bahn.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call two hours earlier. The Rev. James Langrall will officiate.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, near Millsboro.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 600 Du Pont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947; or to Lighthouse Hospice, 4 Executive Campus, Suite 101, 771 Cuthbert Blvd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08002.

David L. Chaney, 72
BRIDGEVILLE - David L. Chaney of Bridgeville died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in Southern Maryland Hospital, Clinton, Md. He was 72.
Mr. Chaney was born March 12, 1930, in Elizabethton, Tenn., son of the late Raymond Chaney and Sallie Moss Chaney.
He had served in the U.S. Air Force.
He retired as a millwright in 1987 after 25 years with the Allied Signal Co.
Mr. Chaney was a Mason and member of the Hiram Lodge 21 in Seaford and a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Camden.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Chaney, in January 2002; and a son, Glen Ferins.
He is survived by two sons, Keith Chaney of Clinton and Robert Chaney of Long Neck; and five grandchildren, Adam Chaney and April Chaney of Clinton, Megan Williams of Jacksonville, N.C., Tiffani Slaughter of Clinton and Samantha Rau of Long Neck.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Bridgeville Cemetery.

Thomas A. Comerford, 84
HARTLY - Thomas A. Comerford of Hartly died of natural causes Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in his home. He was 84.
Mr. Comerford was born in Philadelphia, son of the late John and Margaret McKeown Comerford.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran who had served as a machinist during World War II.
Upon his discharge from the military, Mr. Comerford was employed for more than 47 years with SKF Ball Bearing Co. of Philadelphia and later located in King of Prussia, Pa., retiring in 1979, at which time he moved to the Hartly area.
A generous and loving man to those who knew him, he will be remembered for his love of dancing to the big-band sounds - and a good pinochle game. He was an avid swimmer and enjoyed rowing and bowling.
Mr. Comerford was a longtime member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Marydel, Md., and was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Comerford, in 1988.
He is survived by his extended family, stepson and step-daughter-in-law, Brent and Linda Fibelkorn of Hartly; and his good friend, Diane Amoroso of Hartly.
Graveside services will be noon Thursday in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

William E. Gambrill Jr., 73
GEORGETOWN - William E. Gambrill Jr. of Georgetown died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 73.
Mr. Gambrill was born in Hunting Creek, Va.
He was a U.S. Army veteran. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Army Occupation of Germany Medal.
He is survived by a son, Michael Foxwell of Georgetown; a sister, Peggy Hughes of Mardela Springs, Md.; and a brother, Vernon Gambrill of Mardela Springs.
Memorial services will be 9 a.m. Friday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, near Millsboro.

Violet (Shafer) Groff, 90
GREENWOOD - Violet (Shafer) Groff of Greenwood, formerly of Souderton, Pa., died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in Seaford. She was 90.
Mrs. Groff born in Sellersville, Pa., daughter of the late Russel and Mabel (Benner) Shafer.
She was an inspector for 30 years for U.S. Gauge in Sellersville, retiring in 1975.
She enjoyed crocheting and cooking. She was especially fond of spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Groff was a past member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Perkasie, Pa., before moving to Greenwood in 1999 to live with her granddaughter, Kathleen Vasey. She was also a member of the Business and Professional Woman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Paul Dotschkal, in 1939; her second husband, Ralph Groff, in 1973; and her sister, Mildred Roth, in 1990.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Betty Dotschkal of Nevis, Minn.; two daughters and a son-in-law, Shirley Palmatary of Georgetown and JoAnn and William Reiff of Souderton; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Kantner Funeral Home, 623 W. Market St., Perkasie, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Perkasie.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Greenwood Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 1, Greenwood, DE 19950; or to the Souderton Fire Co., P.O. Box 64371, Souderton, PA 18964.

Dorothy L. Harris, 71
FELTON - Dorothy L. Harris of Felton died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, in her home. She was 71.
Mrs. Harris was born in Petersburg, daughter of the late Fred Casper Sr. and Erna Meding Casper.
She was a seamstress for 28 years for Ace Manufacturing Co., retiring in 1971.
Mrs. Harris enjoyed grooming dogs for a hobby.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Harris, in 1954; a son, Dennis Harris; two grandchildren, Lisa Harris and William Harris; and two sisters, Grace Walls and Gloria Kemp.
She is survived by a son, Richard Harris Sr. of Felton; a brother, Fred Casper of Harrington; two sisters, Ruth DeLong of Felton and Violet Porter of Henderson, Md.; a grandson; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Berry Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, near Frederica.

Mary Elizabeth Holland, 94
SEAFORD - Mary Elizabeth Holland of Seaford, formerly of Federalsburg, Md., died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, in the Genesis Eldercare Center, Seaford. She was 94.
Mrs. Holland was born Oct. 15, 1908, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Will Hall anti Minnie Herd Hall.
She retired after 20 years from Maryland Plastics in Federalsburg,
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Delmer W. Holland; a daughter, Joanne Toomev; three brothers, Harry Hall, Eugene Hall and Joseph Hall; and a sister, Louise Burgess.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters-in-law, William D. Holland Jr. and Janette Holland of Seaford and Thomas L. and Sandra Holland and wife Sandra of Chicago; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in Framptom-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home P.A. in Federalsburg, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the Bridgeville Cemetery.

Allen Preston Wickes, 58
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Allen Preston Wickes of Chestertown died of complications of cancer Saturday, May 24, 2003, in Magnolia Nursing Center in Chestertown. He was 58.
Mr. Wickes was born in Chestertown, son of the late James and Elsie Wickes.
He attended school at Henry Highland Garnett.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Wickes; and a brother, Jim Archie Gland.
He is survived by two sons, Allen P. Wickes Jr. of Butlertown and Corey Wickes of California; a daughter, Shona Boyce of Dover, Del.; a sister, Claudia Trusty of Chestertown; six grandchildren; a great-grandson; an uncle, Robert Brown Sr.; three aunts, Vonceal Steward, Yvonne Brown and Lucille Smith; a son-in-law; two daughters-in-law; two brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law; and a special friend, Paula Little.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday in Bethel A.M.E. Church, Chestertown.

Lily S. Allen, 88
EASTON, Md. - Lily S. Allen of Easton died of congestive heart failure Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in University Hospital, Baltimore. She was 88.
Mrs. Allen was born Nov. 18, 1912, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Noble Frame and Rose May String.
As a child she moved to Talbot County, where she attended public school.
In 1935 she married James Alfred Allen Jr., an estate caretaker and later a truck driver. In the early 1940s they made their home in Easton, where she worked as a dietician at Easton Junior-Senior High School from 1954 until the mid-1980s. She then worked for a local department store and finally as a seamstress until retiring in 1997.
Mrs. Allen was a former member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 1250.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 1, 1972.
She is survived by three daughters, Jacqueline A. Lituski of Dover, Rose Ann Sutherland of Preston and Carolyn Behr of Stevensville; a son, G. Wayne Allen of Easton; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.

Richard 'Dick' F. Behlke, 73
DENTON, Md. - Richard "Dick" F. Behlke of Denton died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in The Shore Rehabilitation Center, Denton. He was 73.
Mr. Behlke was born in Denton, son of the late Charles Henry Otto Behlke and Nellie Rudge Behlke.
He served in the Merchant Marines and in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Behlke was a corrections officer for the Eastern Pre-release Unit at Church Hill, retiring in 1982.
He was co-owner and co-operator of N.R. Behlke & Sons Service Station near Denton until the late 1960s.
Mr. Behlke was a member of Caroline American Legion Post 29 and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 62. He was also a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Denton and a member of Temple Lodge 128 A.M. & F.M.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard A. Behlke; and two brothers, William F. Behlke and Charles O. Behlke.
He is survived by his wife, Mila Jean (Neal) Behlke of Denton; two daughters, Sylvia J. Trice, and her husband, Thomas Trice, of Denton, and Sheila Behlke of Denton; a sister, Mary Nagel of Denton; seven grandchildren, Nicole J. Benchoff, Amanda J. Benchoff, David J. Benchoff, Devon J. Benchoff, Richie L. Trice, Bryan J. Trice and Tommy L. Trice II, all of Denton.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 South Second St., Denton, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Denton Cemetery, Denton.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Denton Volunteer Ambulance Squad, P.O. Box 262. Denton, MD 21629.

Rudolfs Richards Berzins, 97
POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Rudolfs Richards Berzins of Ocean View died Monday, May 28, 2001, in Lewes. He was 97.
Mr. Berzins was born in Riga, Latvia, son of the late Alfreds Berzins and Lavize Paplinskis.
He is survived by his wife of 77 years, Milda Kesteris Berzins; two sons, Valdis Berzins of Ocean View and Modris Berzins of Augusta, Ga.; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the Bethany Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be private.

Nadine Brown, 41
POCOMOKE CITY, Md. - Nadine Brown of Pocomoke City died Monday, May 28, 2001, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. She was 41.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Pocomoke City.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery, Pocomoke City.

Della Mae Cherry, 60
DENTON, Md. - Della Mae Cherry of Denton died Friday, May 25, 2001, in her home. She was 60.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Union Bethel A.M.E. Church in Denton.
Burial will be in Cokers Cemetery in Greensboro.

Suzanne C. Dorneman, 50
LEWES - Suzanne C. Dorneman of Lewes died as a result of an automobile accident Monday, May 28, 2001, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. She was 50.
Ms Dorneman was born in Reedsville, Ga., daughter of the late Edward Charles Crowder and Mary C. Morgan.
She received her master's in business administration, special education, computer science and accounting. She was a C.P.A and was a doctor of natural medicine.
She was a computer science teacher at Indian River High School and Howard T. Ennis.
Ms Dorneman was an avid reader who liked to play golf and trivia. She loved her family dearly.
She is survived by a daughter, Tracy D. Keller, and her husband, Hudson M., of Lewes; a sister, Sara J. Manoll, and her husband, John, of Prescott, Ontario; a niece, nephew and grandnephew.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road in Long Neck, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Memorial Fund, Howard T. Ennis School, RD 2, Box 252, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Wilson Dutton, 75
WILMINGTON - Wilson Dutton of Wilmington died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Parkview Nursing Home, Wilmington. He was 75.
He is survived by two brothers, George and William Dutton.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call 1 hour prior the service.
Burial will be in the Townsend Cemetery.

James Handy, 67
LEWES - James Handy of Lewes died Monday, May 18, 2001, in Lewes Convalescent Home, Lewes. He was 67.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Maude Dandy Smith.
He is survived by two sisters, Beatrice H. Scott and Danelle S. Trice of Capitol Heights, Md.; a sister-in-law, Rosalie Handy; two uncles, John and Edward Handy; three aunts, Ella Mae Handy, Eunice Handy and Madalyn Handy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
