The Rev. Ellis K. Horton, 79
LINCOLN - The Rev. Ellis K. Horton of Lincoln died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in his home, with his family by his side. He was 79.
The Rev. Horton was born Feb. 14, 1923, in Huntingdon, Pa., son of the late Paul and Ora (Leeder) Horton.
He graduated from Eastern Nazarene College in 1948, where he was class president.
His first church was in McMechan, W.Va. from 1948-1950; other pastorates were in Washington, Pa., 1950-1960, Coraopolis, Pa., 1960-1968, Dover, 1968-1971, associate minister in Salisbury, Md. 1971-1976, McConnellstown, Pa., 1976-1984, and Broad Top, Pa., (his home church) 1984-1988. He retired and moved to Quincy, Mass., and worked as assistant chief of security from 1988-1994. He retired again and moved to Lincoln in 1994.
The Rev. Horton was a member of Calvary Church of the Nazarene in Dover.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Virginia R. Horton of Lincoln; a daughter and son-in-law, Christy D. and Bruce W. Cale of Magnolia; a sister, Clarice Swift of Worcester, Mass.; and two grandchildren and the wife of one, Ryan D. Cale of Magnolia and Christopher M. and Laurie Ellingsworth Cale of Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the Trader Funeral Home, Dover.
Celebration of life services will be 11 a.m. Friday in Calvary Church of the Nazarene, North Little Creek Road, Dover.
Burial will be noon Saturday in the Broad Top Cemetery, Broad Top, Pa.

Ruth H. Mikesell, 79
DOVER - Ruth H. Mikesell of Dover died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in Beayhealth-Kenet General Hospital, Dover. She was 79.
Mrs. Mikesell was born in Toledo, Ohio, daughter of the late Frederick and Genevieve Moran Humbarger.
She had attended the University of Toledo.
She had spent the greater part of her life as a dedicated wife and mother. She later worked for several years as office manager for the Registrar's Office at Union College in Cranberry, N.J., retiring in 1972.
Mrs. Mikesell moved to Dover in 1987, where she held several positions with the Dover Century Club. She also had served as a volunteer at the Dover Air Force Base Pharmacy and had been a past president of the Clinton New Jersey Women's Club.
She is survived by her husband, Harry Mikesell of Dover; two daughters, Virginia Curtiss of Mountainside, N.J., and Joan Bloomer of Clinton, N.J.; a son, William of Newark, N.J.; a sister, Jeanne Campbell of Columbus, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Denise McWhorter of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Charles Bloomer of Denver.
Graveside committal services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Chapel, Bear.
Memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Family suggests donations in her memory be made to the Harry and Ruth Mikesell Scholarship - University of Toledo Driscoll Center, 2801 W. Bancroft St., Toledo, OH 43606-3395.

Ruth B. Weston, 82
FELTON - Ruth B. Weston of Felton died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2002, in her home. She was 82.
Mrs. Weston was born June 20, 1920, in Baltimore, daughter of the late Leroy Cook and Mamie Evans Cook.
She worked for 30 years for Maryland's Bay Bridge as a sergeant of toll facilities.
Mrs. Weston collected dolls and had a stand at Spence's Bazaar, where she was known as the "Doll Lady."
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Weston.
She is survived by a son, Charles Brazier of Felton; two grandchildren, Debbie Sweeney of Felton and Darnell Drees of Felton; and a sister, Margaret Ordak of Baltimore.
Services will be private.

William N. Stout, 84
SMYRNA - William N. Stout of Smyrna, formerly of Trenton, N.J., died Thursday, Oct. 17, 2002, in his home. He was 84.
Services will be 1 p.m. today in the Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Robert T. Collins, 72
SMYRNA - Robert T. Collins of Smyrna died Monday, Oct. 21, 2002, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 72.
Mr. Collins was born Nov. 15, 1929, in Smyrna, son of the late Leonard A. Collins Jr. and Ida Collins Morris.
He was an insurance salesman for Nichols Insurance in Delaware City for several years before retiring.
Mr. Collins enjoyed selling Avon products and collecting antiques.
He was a judge for several antique-car shows and a member of several antique-car clubs. He was also a former member of the Choral Society.
He is survived by a niece and her husband, Barbara and Curtis Pompper of Smyrna; and a great-niece and great-nephew, Bobbi Webber of Clayton and William Wilson IV of Smyrna.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
Peggy M. Coulbourn, 73
SEAFORD - Peggy M. Coulbourn of Seaford died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2002, in the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 73.
Mrs. Coulbourn retired from the Bank of Delaware, where she was a teller.
She had been active in the 4-H club, Seaford Little League and the Order of the Eastern Star, Sussex Chapter 7, over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Helen Wheatley; and her husband, Harold J. Coulbourn, in 1994.
She is survived by two sons, Scott and Brent Coulbourn, both of Seaford; two daughters, Pam Lewis and Amy Pearson, both of Seaford; a sister, Nancy Adams of Seaford; a brother, Alan Wheatley of Cranford, N.J.; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, 315 High St., Seaford, where friends also may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Cokesbury Cemetery, Reliance.

Marie A. Fawcett, 76
MILFORD - Marie A. Fawcett of Milford, formerly of Centreville, Va., died of natural causes Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She was 76.
Mrs. Fawcett worked for nursing homes in the Pennsylvania and Virginia areas as a practical nurse for 25 years, retiring in 1982. For several years after her retirement, she provided care for children in her home during the day.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Milford and of the AARP, and enjoyed volunteer work for Milford Memorial Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Fawcett; and a son, Warren.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Emma Hinde and Ruby and Robert Currie, all of Milford; two nephews and the wife of one, Robert Currie Jr. and Ellen and Dan Currie, all of Milford; a niece, Joi Currie of Milford; and a close friend, Kim McGinnis of Centreville.
Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday in St. John's Catholic Church, 506 Seabury Ave., Milford.

James F. Head, 78
LAUREL - James F. Head of Laurel died of heart failure Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 78.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Head retired from Paradee Co., where he was a regional manager for its convenience stores. He served on the Seaford school board from 1987 to 1991.
Mr. Head was a member of the American Legion in Seaford and also attended Christ Evangelist Church in Laurel.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Head; two sons, Thomas F. Head of Blades and John D. Head of Concord; a daughter, Marty E. Vincent of Concord; four stepchildren, Raymond E. Hoopes Jr. of Coudersport, Pa., Judith H. Pelarcik of Coatesville, Pa., Billie Wood of Glen Burnie, Md., and James W. Evans of Belfair, Wash.; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Blades Cemetery.

Allen S. 'Al' Hedgecock Jr., 69
DOVER - Allen S. "Al" Hedgecock Jr. of Dover died Wednesday, May 30, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 69.
Mr. Hedgecock was born March 14, 1932, in Mayodan, N.C., son of the late Rev. and Mrs. Allen S. Hedgecock Sr.
He moved to Delaware in 1957.
He received his business management degree from Moravian College. His educational background also included the U.S. Coast Guard Communications, Institutes for Organizational Management, U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Modelnetics at Wesley College and the National Security Forum at Air War College.
Mr. Hedgecock was executive vice president of the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce from 1979 to the present. He was a partner with Aloysius Butler & Clark, an advertising and public relations firm in Wilmington and Dover, from 1973 to 1979. From 1955 to 1973 he worked in television and radio management in Scranton, Pa., Baltimore and Dover.
He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard and was a veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Hedgecock was a past president and current member of the Dover Rotary Club, past president and officer of the Delaware Broadcasters and Maryland/D.C. Delaware Broadcasters, a charter member of the Public Relations Roundtable of Delaware and a former board member of the Maple Dale Country Club. He was also a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post 2, the Korean War Veterans, the Air Force Association, the Quiet Birdman and Experimental Aircraft Association.
His many achievements and the awards bestowed upon him includes the Outstanding Young Man of the Year in Dover in 1968; Boss of the Year in Dover in 1969; the Medal of Merit in 1980 from the Air Force Association; the Distinguished Citizen Award in 1981 from the U.S. Air Force Military Airlift Command; Paul Harris Fellow in 1988 from the Rotary International; Citizen of the Year for 1994 from the B.P.O. Elks Lodge 1903; the Distinguished Citizen Award in 1998 from the U.S. Air Force Air Mobility Command; the Medal of Merit in 1999 from the Air Force Association; and the Air Force Association Premiere Salute Award.
Mr. Hedgecock participated in the Friends of Wesley College; Delaware Tech Business Administration Advisory Council; Delaware State University Airways Science Advisory Council; Kent General Hospital Community Health Partnership of Delaware, State of Delaware Community Advisory Council at DNREC; State of Delaware Governor's Unemployment Insurance Advisory Council; Kent County Business/Industry/Education Advisory Committee; Delaware State Tactical Aviation Committee with the Office of Aeronautics; Community Justice Committee; Dover Air Force Base Air Mobility Command Museum Foundation, where he was also a charter officer; Association of Chambers of Commerce of Delaware, where he served as the organizing director; and Capitol Theater Reconstruction Board, where he also served as a director.
Mr. Hedgecock was very active in and served his community in numerous organizations, including the Governor's Advisory Council and Unemployment Insurance; the Kent County Committee on Employment of the Disabled; the Friends of Wesley College; the Wesley College Public Relations Advisory Committee; the Delaware State University Airways Science Advisory Council; the Business/Industry/Education Advisory Council, where he served as the Lower Delaware Chairman; the Kent General Hospital Development Committee; the Delaware Arthritis Foundation Committee in Kent County; the Delaware Technical & Community College "New Horizons" Planning Committee; the Maple Dale Country Club board of directors; the Delaware State University Mott Foundation; the New Home Fund-Raising Committee for the Modern Maturity Center; the Air Force Association for the state of Delaware as the state communications director; the Galaxy Dover Chapter board of directors; the Dover Air Force Base Air Mobility Command Museum Foundation; the Hugh O'Brien Youth Foundation Leadership Workshop Committee; and the Delaware Small Business Development Center.
He also was active in the Superior Court Community Justice Committee; the annual Kent General Hospital Foundation Committee for NASCAR Drivers and Personnel Golf Tournament; the State "Meals on Wheels" Committee through the Modern Maturity Center; the statewide TV education project; the Distant Learning Committee through Polytech High School; and the MASBEC, Minority and Small Business Entrepreneurial Committee through Delaware State University.
Mr. Hedgecock was active in and enjoyed aviation, boating, golf, tennis, history and trivia.
He is survived by his beloved, Sherlene Isiminger of Dover; a daughter, Andrea Hedgecock of New York; and two brothers, Norman Hedgecock of 29 Palms, Calif., and John Hedgecock of Redlands, Calif.
A Celebration of Life will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to service. The Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce will hold a reception following the service at the Maple Dale Country Club.

James Daniel Hinton, 80
ELLENDALE - James Daniel Hinton of Ellendale died of heart failure Wednesday, May 23, 2001, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was 80.
Mr. Hinton was born Sept. 12, 1920, in Newland, N.C.
He was a construction worker and poultry factory worker.
Mr. Hinton was a deacon/minister of New Shilo F.B.H. Church in Ellendale.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma Hinton of E1lendale; six sons, James B. Hinton of San Diego, Lionel Hinton and Bernard Hinton of Milford, Dwight Hinton of New Castle, William Hinton and Carl Hinton, both of Seaford; two daughters, Brenda Bynum of New Castle and Pattie Hinton of E1lendale; 26 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Pentecostal Church of God, Green Top Road, Lincoln, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Odd Fellow Cemetery, Milford.

Fred B. McGinnis, 82
SMYRNA - Fred B. McGinnis of Smyrna died Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 82.
Mr. McGinnis was born Sept. 19, 1918, in Marydel, son of the late William H. McGinnis and Virgie (Johnson) McFadden.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. McGinnis worked for Suburban Propane in Dover for 29 years, retiring in 1981.
He enjoyed gardening and loving his family.
Mr. McGinnis was a member of Ewell's St. Paul United Methodist Church, Clayton. He was also a life member of the DAV and American Legion David C. Harrison Post 14 in Smyrna. He was a Purple Heart recipient.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Frederick L. McGinnis; his stepfather, Charles McFadden; four brothers; and a sister.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gladys (Carey) McGinnis; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert W. and Patricia McGinnis of Clayton; a daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Fred Bush of Smyrna; a sister, Eleanor (Nuke) O'Neal of Clayton; a sister-in-law, Violet McGinnis of Smyrna; two grandsons, Steven Duncan and Gregory, and his wife, Cheryl Bush; two granddaughters, Patricia, and her husband, John Weiss, and Kathleen, and her husband, Ron Hutson; three great-granddaughters, Taylor Hutson, Sarah Reily and Amanda Weiss; and a great-grandson, Johnny Weiss.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 South Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Karen E. 'Spring Rainbow' Mosley, 53
FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Karen E. "Spring Rainbow" Mosley of Fairfield Township died suddenly and unexpectedly Tuesday, May 29, 2001, in Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, where she had been a patient for one day. She was 53.
Mrs. Mosley was born in Bridgeton, daughter of the late Fred and Bernice Sammons Hughes.
She attended Bowie University in Maryland, Rowan University in New Jersey and graduated from the practical nursing program at Millville High School to become a licensed practical nurse.
Mrs. Mosley had lived at her present address for three years, and prior to that was a resident of Cheswold, Del.
She was employed as tribal administrator of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indians at the Bridgeton Center. She was also currently employed with Correctional Medical Services at the South Woods State Prison.
Mrs. Mosley was an active member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd "Proud Pony" Mosley.
She is survived by a son, William Wesley Mosley Sr. of Fairfield Township; two sisters, Patricia Ann Hughes Overstreet and Freda Bernice Bhatty, both of Vineland; a brother, Ian W Hughes of Vineland; and two grandchildren, William Wesley Mosley Jr. and Alyssa Mary Mosley, both of Fairfield Township.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Padgett Funeral Home, 107 State Highway 77, Upper Deerfield Township, Bridgeton.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Union United Methodist Church in Cheswold, where friends call from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
Burial will be in Immanuel Union U.M. Church Cemetery in Cheswold.
Alma M. Palmer, 57
REHOBOTH BEACH - Alma M. Palmer of Rehoboth Beach, died Friday, May 25, 2001, in her home. She was 57.
Ms. Palmer was a banker for 40 years, beginning her career at Farmers Bank (now Mellon Bank) of Rehoboth Beach in 1961. She retired from Wilmington Trust in Long Neck as branch manager on May 21, 2001.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore W. Palmer and Goldia Mae Hudson; and her brother, Theodore R. Palmer.
She is survived by a sister, Adella Vignola, and her husband, Raymond, of The Villages, Fla.; two nephews, Michael R. Vignola, and his wife, Susan, of Angola, and Theodore R. Vignola, and his wife, Diane, of Alabama; a niece, Teresa Vignola of California, two great-nephews; a great-niece; and a host of cousins and many friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road in Long Neck, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.
