Dorothy G. Pepper, 84
RIDGELY, Md. - Dorothy G. Pepper of near Ridgely died of renal insufficiency and cardiac arrest Friday, Oct. 11, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes, Del. She was 84.
Mrs. Pepper was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Andrew Willis Graham and Hilda Gutliche Graham.
She had lived in Caroline County for many years.
During World War II, she was a tractor operator for the U.S. Army Quartermaster Corps in Philadelphia.
In 1975, Mrs. Pepper received certification as a geriatric-nurse's aide at Delaware Technical and Community College, Owens Campus, in Georgetown, Del.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ford Pepper, Nov. 15, 1975; and a brother, Harry Graham.
She is survived by three sons, George F. Pepper III of Queen Anne, John Melvin Pepper of Troy, N.Y., and James A. Pepper of Wilmington, Del.; three daughters, Elizabeth L. "Betsy" Shreckengest of Milford, Del., Dorothy A. Moyer of Lewes and Patricia E.P. Jaffray of Dover, Del.; two brothers, Andrew Graham and Herbert Graham, both of Wilmington; three sisters, Emma McCracken of Kennett Square, Pa., Mae Barringer of Vincentown, N.J., and Rosie North of Tampa, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Moore Funeral Home P.A., 12 S. Second St., Denton, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Clara E. Wallace, 89
DOVER - Clara E. Wallace of Dover died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 89.
Mrs. Wallace was born Sept. 17, 1913, in Wawa, Pa., son of the late Clay McCardell and Florence Myers McCardell.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Arlie Wallace, in 1993; a son, Douglas Wallace, in 1979; five sisters, Vera Busslel, Vivian Maysillis, Erma McCardell, Muriel Neff, Rohda Keight; and two brothers, Clay Mc Cardell and John McCardell.
She is survived by four grandsons and their wives, Douglas C. Wallace Jr. and Marla Wallace of New Orleans, David C. and Cindy Wallace and Robert J. and Janie Wallace, all of Smyrna, and Andrew J. and Wendy Wallace of Dover; a daughter-in-law, Judith Wallace of Clayton; two sisters, Florence Prang of Oxford, Pa., and Edna Hart of Quarryville, Pa.; a brother, Ash McCardell of Oxford; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.

Dorothy Johnston Williams, 74
MANHEIM, Pa. - Dorothy Johnston Williams of Manheim, formerly of Wilmington, Del., died of natural causes Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Williams graduated from Middletown (Del.) High School in 1946.
She had worked as the first bookkeeper for the Delaware Public Employees Council 81, American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees from 1966 to 1971. She also worked for the Department of Labor.
Mrs. Williams volunteered at the Mary Campbell Center in Wilmington from 1980 to 1985.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris E. Williams, in 1993; and a brother, Harry W. Johnston, in 1999.
She is survived by a daughter, Linda S. Mackey of Manheim; a son, George W. Mackey III of Landenburg; two grandchildren, Brian and Jennifer; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Joseph Mackey.
Friends may call from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Monday in the Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Forest Cemetery, Middletown.
Edna S. Burton, 75
LINCOLN - Edna S. Burton of Lincoln died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, in her home. She was 75.
Mrs. Burton was born May 14 1927, in Augusta, Ga., daughter of the late Juanita Jenkins Neal.
She retired from Milford Memorial Hospital in 1978 after 15 years of service. She was also employed by Detox in Ellendale for 10 years as well as the CHEER Center in Slaughter Neck for five years.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Haywood Robert Burton.
She is survived by three daughters, Valerie and her husband, Darrell Washington, with whom she resided, Georgiann Crapper of Magnolia and Gloria Daniels of Lincoln; three sisters, Voanita Elmandorf and Maggielean Salter, both of Dover, and Dorothylean and her husband, Joseph Manlove of Star Hill; a brother and sister-in-law, Jimmie and Norma Neal of Bridgeville; two brothers-in-law, Ronald Salter of Newark and Theodore Burton, of Millsboro; three sisters-in-law, Helen Burton, Allene Broughton and Carrie Burton, all of Millsboro; her two best friends, Esther Groves and Reginald Boykin, both of Lincoln; two special grandsons who lived with her, Jamaal and Deon Burton; 12 additional grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 tonight in Siloam A.M.E. Church, Slaughter Neck.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Donald A. DuBois, 67
LEWES - Retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Donald A. DuBois of Lewes died Saturday, Oct. 5, 2002, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md., with his loving family close by. He was 67.
A career officer, Col. DuBois served 28 years in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was awarded the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal, the U.S. Army Bronze Star and Commendation Medal, the Purple Heart, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service and Campaign Medals with six stars and the Republic of Vietnam N Silver Star for Gallantry.
Col. DuBois was a past master of Henry Lodge No. 57, A.F.&A.M., in Fairfax, Va.
He is survived by his wife Jo; six daughters and two sons-in-law, Christine and Thomas Devlin of Long Island, N.Y., Linda Baltrasch of Falls Church, Va., Katherine DuBois of McLean, Va., Karen Chang DuBois of Fairfax, Va., Allison Pope of Centreville, Va. and Kiernan and Richard Penna of Boonsboro, Md.; a son, Daniel Kirby Pope V of Detroit; a brother, Robert DuBois of Orange, Fla.; two sisters, Alice Min of Rehoboth Beach and Audrey Malfatino of Bridgeville; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 9 a.m. Wednesday in Fort Myer Chapel, Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.
Burial with full military honors will follow and a Masonic Service will be held at the graveside.

Aileen H. Donohue, 82
MILLERSVILLE, Md. - Aileen H. Donohue of Millersville died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in Severna Park. She was 82.
Mrs. Donohue was born Oct. 4, 1920, in Washington, D.C.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting and traveling.
She is survived by three daughters, Cynthia Hobson of Delaware, Barbara Mellon of Michigan and Charlene Donohue of Cookesville; four sons, George Donohue Jr. and Thomas Donohue, both of Glen Burnie, Francis Donohue of Brooklyn, N.Y. and John Donohue of Millersville; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday in Singleton Funeral Home, Glen Burnie.

Jean R. George, 77
DOVER - Jean R. George of Dover died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in Christiana Hospital of Christiana Care, Newark. She was 77.
Mrs. George was born in Palmyra, Pa., daughter of the late John and Esther Lineweaver Achenbach.
She had moved to the Woodside area in 1951 and had been employed with Green Giant Cannery until its closing, and later worked at Kim Manufacturing Co.
She will be sadly missed by her many friends and especially her extended family of many years.
Mrs. George had been an active resident at Luther Towers and was a member of Harvest Years and the Dover's Modern Maturity Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her longtime friend, Jake Corbin, who died in 1990.
She is survived by close friends whom she considered extended family, Ralph and Mary Bryant, Gary and Lorraine Madden, Nora and Steve Childers and Oakie and Gloria Remus, all of Woodside, Greg and Joan Madden of Hartly and Bruce and Mary Madden of Venus, Texas; a special granddaughter, Rene Mogle; and four special great-grandchildren, Candi Mogle, Joseph Mogle, Kody Mogle and Seth Mogle, all of Hartly.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Woodside United Methodist Church, Main Street, Woodside.
Burial will be private in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Retired Col. William Mervin Wix, 66
GERMANTOWN, Tenn. - Ret. Col. William Mervin Wix of Germantown died of lung can-cer Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in Baptist Memorial Hospita. He was 66.
Col. Wix was born May 5, 1933, in Harrington, Del., the son of the late Robert James Wix and Virginia Pearson Wix.
He graduated from the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y.; received a master's degree from Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and earned a Ph.D from Columbia University.
Col. Wix retired from the U.S. Army in 1980.
He retired from International Paper in 1993, then formed a management consulting busi-ness and worked in the Meeman Center for Continuing studies at Rhodes College for three years.
Col. Wix was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Heber Springs, Ark.
He is survived by his wife, Re-becca Robertson Wix; a son, Thomas Saunders Wix of Mer-ritt Island, Fla.; two daughters, Cindy Jean Wix Ingling of Or-lando, Fla., and Linda Steven-son Wix McGonagle of Genoa, N.Y.; and two grandchildren, Elizabeth Leigh McGonagle and William Evan McGonagle.
Service will be 9 a.m. Thurs-day at the Wilson Chapel of Christ Memorial Methodist Church, 4488 Poplar Ave., Memphis.

Robert L. 'Bob' Williams, 69
CLAYTON, N.C. - Robert L. "Bob" Williams of Clayton, formerly of Milford, Del., died of natural causes Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in WakeMed Raleigh. He was 69.
Mr. Williams retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1969; he was a veteran of World War II and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Alice Sims, April 19, 1998; and a sister, Lucy Bohnsack, Feb. 21, 1999.
He is survived by two sons, Robert L. Williams Jr. of Ta-coma, Wash., and Richard Wil-liams of Magnolia, Del.; two daughters, Mary Alice Williams of Harrington, Del., and Robin Glover of Dover, Del.; a brother and sister-in-law, Luther T. and Sue Williams of Claytonand a sister, Fay W. Dease of Fayetteville.
Graveside service was 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in Mount Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery, Ral-eigh. The Rev. Hal Bilbo of Clay-ton officiated.

George W. Carson Jr., 73
SEAFORD - George W. Car-son Jr. of Seaford died of can-cer Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 73.
Mr. Carson was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He was the owner and opera-tor of Carson's Greenhouses, Gift Shop and Gun Shop on Stein Highway, Seaford, from 1974-1989. He also worked for Bowie Bolt Supply in Seaford from 1995-1998.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Paige L. Carson; four sons, Timothy A. Carson of St. Charles, Mo., George W. Carson IV of Bridgeville and Jeffrey L. Carson and William "Kit" Car-son, both of Seaford; a sister, Ruth A. Bullen of Annapolis, Md.; and eight grandchildren

Edna Carolyn Legacy, 83
HENDERSON, Md. - Edna Carolyn Legacy of Henderson died of natural causes Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Denton. She was 83.
Mrs. Legacy was born Jan. 31, 1916, in Manhattan, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie Schubert May.
She was a homemaker; she had lived in Henderson since moving from Englewood, N.J., in 1979.
Mrs. Legacy was a member of First Baptist Church of Marydel.
She is survived by her hus-band, Robert Legacy Sr.; two sons, Robert Legacy Jr. of Tenafly, N.J., and Peter Legacy of Roselle, N.J.; and three grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thurs-day at Fleegle & Helfenbein Fu-neral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro.

William Richard McCracken, 77
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Wil-liam Richard McCracken of Chestertown died of heart fail-ure Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, in Kent and Queen Anne's Hospi-tal, Chestertown. He was 77.
Mr. McCracken was born Dec. 17, 1921, in Philadelphia, the son of the late George B. and Gladys Watkins McCracken.
He served as a first lieutenant in the Army of the United States during World War II in the Afri-can and Italian theaters. His decorations included the Euro-pean-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with six battle stars; a bronze arrowhead; and the Purple Heart for wounds he received in Sicily.
Following his discharge from the Army, Mr. McCracken pur-sued a lifelong career in com-mercial and industrial real es-tate in Philadelphia as a broker and appraiser. A secondary ca-reer was in the field of vocal music, wherein Mr. McCracken performed professionally in op-era, concerts and church music.
Following his retirement in 1989 from the Montgomery County (Pa.) Assessor's Office Board of Appeals, he and his wife, Joyce Schuyler McCracken, moved to Chester-town.
He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Parish, Church Hill; the Chester River Yacht and County Club, Chestertown; and The Old Salts' Society, Chester-town.
Mr. McCracken's lifelong inter-ests included music, golfing, sailing and fishing.
In addition to his wife of 17 years, he is survived by a son, William R. McCracken Jr. of Bloomington, Ind.; three grand-children, Joshua McCracken, Micah McCracken and Mary McCracken three stepsons, George Anderson, Richard An-derson and Steven Anderson; and five step-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Church Hill.

Daisy Mae Morsello, 84
SMYRNA - Daisy Mae Morsello of Smyrna, and for-merly of Dover, Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Bayhealth-Kent Gen-eral Hospital, Dover. She was 84.
Ms. Morsello was born May 27, 1915, in Dover, the daugh-ter of the late George and Ethel Luff Brown. She lived almost all her life in Dover.
She worked for Richardson and Robbins in Dover, and then, for the Capital School Dis-trict, in the cafeteria.
Ms. Morsello loved cooking, flower and vegetable gardening, and her cat, Miss Kitty.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Orville "Mickey" Morrow, April 23, 1997; and George Morrow, Aug. 6, 1990.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Ruby B. and Wayne Newman of Dover; a brother, James Brown of Dover; a sister, Anna Moore of Dover; four grandchildren, Richard Newman, Michael Newman, Mark Newman and Bobbie Harless, all of Dover; and five great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thurs-day at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
Virginia Ethel Kuhn Robinson, 77
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Vir-ginia Ethel Kuhn Robinson of Tolchester Estates, near Ches-tertown, died of heart failure Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in her home. She was 77.
Mrs. Robinson was born Jan. 23, 1922, in Altoona, Pa., the daughter of the late David Westley Kuhn and Olive Lovetta Herring Kuhn.
In 1935, she married Julian Thomas Robinson. They moved to Tolchester in 1973.
Mrs. Robinson was a home-maker active in the community association in Tolchester.
She enjoyed sewing, and was an accomplished seamstress.
Mrs. Robinson was a member of Rock Hall United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Gloria Constintino, Aug. 9, 1998.
In addition to her husband of 57 years, she is survived by a son, Robert Robinson of Balti-more; two brothers, Robert Kuhn of Tolchester and David Kuhn of Florida; a sister, Eliza-beth Ittner of Florida; three grandchildren, Michael Con-stintino, Angela Constintino and Donna Boone; and three great-grandchildren, Ashley Boone, Jessica Boone and Johnathon Boone.

Sarah Virginia Sewell, 75
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Sarah Virginia Sewell of Ches-tertown died of natural causes Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown. She was 75.
Mrs. Sewell worked for Camp-bell Soup Co. for 14 years, re-tiring in 1974.
She was a very active member of Mount Pleasant Methodist Church, Fairlee. She also was an active volunteer for the SHARE program and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Marion Wilson; and a sister, Catherine Wilson.
She is survived by her hus-band of 56 years, Amos Sewell; a son and daughter-in-law, Sylvester and Shirley Sewell of Quaker Neck; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Doris and Billy Reese of Chestertown, Mil-dred and Clarence Coats of Cleveland, Ohio, and Diane Fussell of Newark, Del.; a brother, Melvin Wilson of Queen Anne's County; three sisters, Elizabeth Forman of Centreville and Corinn Fields and Lucy Wilson, both of Philadelphia; a brother-in-law, Earl Fields of Philadelphia; a sister-in-law, Catherine Wilson of Queen Anne's County; nine grandchil-dren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Pleasant Methodist Church, Fairlee.
