Virginia L. Henry, 82
MILLSBORO - Virginia L. Henry of Long Neck, near Millsboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 82.
Mrs. Henry was born in Blades, daughter of the late Howard McCauley and Lina Truitt McCauley.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Henry was member of Blades Methodist Church, Blades.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Henry in 1967.
She is survived by a son, William Henry, with whom she lived; three grandchildren, David, Tina and Paul; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Long Neck Road, Long Neck, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the Blades Cemetery in Blades.
Frederick D. Masallo, 70
DOVER - Frederick D. Masallo of Dover died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was 70.
Mr. Masallo was born Jan. 9, 1932, in Jamaica, L.I., N.Y., son of the late Diego and Edna (Nicholson) Masallo.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 24 years, achieving the rank of staff sergeant, retiring in 1973.
After Mr. Masallo's retirement from the Air Force, he worked for the state of Delaware as a correctional officer.
He enjoyed automobiles, automobile collecting and firearms collecting, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Mr. Masallo was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and also a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lois Masallo; two daughters, Lois Ann Schoenfeldt of Wausau, Wis., and Elissa Prost of Dover, a son, Stephen Masallo of Hartly; a sister, Phyllis Gibbons of North Arlington, N.J.; three grandsons, Brent Schoenfeldt of Wausau and Nathan Prost and Devin Prost, both of Dover; and three granddaughters, Joan Masallo, Hannah Masallo and Emma Masallo, all of Hartly.
Remembrance services will be 8 p.m. Saturday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial services with military honors will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.

Margaret LaMar Shultz, 79
LANDMARK, Manitoba, Canada - Margaret LaMar Shultz of Landmark, formerly of Clayton, Del., died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2002. She was 79.
Mrs. Shultz was born in Baltimore, daughter of the late Eugene H. and Margaret Tracey LaMar.
She had been employed as an office clerk for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Philadelphia, and the Cool Springs School and the Tilton Terrace Nursing Home, both in Wilmington, Del.
Mrs. Shultz was a very giving person who loved the Lord and all people.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Myron A. Shultz, in 1985; and a son, Thomas W. Shultz, in 1998.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Daniel Strubhar of Landmark; two granddaughters; and five nieces.
Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna, Del., where friends may call one hour earlier.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Sharpridge Methodist Cemetery, near Danville, Pa..
Jeffrey L. Sturdavant, 47
MAGNOLIA - Jeffrey Sturdavant of Magnolia died Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, in his mother's home in Bridgeville. He was 47.
Mr. Sturdavant was born Jan. 16, 1955, in Alma, Mich.
He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Bonnie and Ted Russell of Bridgeville; two brothers and their respective families, Lesile M. Sturdavant of Woodbridge, Va., and Randy S. Sturdavant of Rehoboth Beach; maternal grandmother, Helen Wolfgang of Alma; step-grandmother, Hilda E. Russell of Bridgeville; an aunt; two uncles and their families in Michigan; and his father, Leslie Sturdavant of the Wilmington area.
A private family service was held Thursday.

James F. Sanderson, 83
MILFORD - The services for James F. Sanderson have been changed to 2 p.m. Friday in Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Slaughter Neck United Methodist Church Cemetery, Argo's Cornor, Milford.
Mr. Sanderson, of Milford, died Monday, Oct. 7, 2002, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was 83.
Nelson Freeman 'Toe-Joe' Jackson, 39
BRIDGEVILLE - Nelson Freeman "Toe-Joe" Jackson of Bridgeville, and formerly of Millsboro, died of kidney failure Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, in his home. He was 39.
Mr. Jackson was employed for many years by the B&C Logging Co. of Delmar, Md.
He was a person who loved to help others, and he loved his family. He enjoyed hunting, cooking, gardening and just being outside.
He was preceded in death by his father, Nelson Freeman Thompson.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Lingard; a son, Donald Pase of Bridgeville; his stepfather, George Alfred Lingard; two brothers, Freeman Nelson Jackson of Millsboro and Keith Allen Jackson of Bridgeville; two sisters, Carla Burnette Jackson of Bridgeville, who was his caregiver and with whom he resided, and Darlene Kendrick of Sanford, Fla.; five stepsisters, Teresa Knight, Doritta Knight, Sharrita Knight, Gloria Knight and Ann Knight; two sisters-in-law, Selena Jackson and Patricia Jackson; two brothers-in-law, James Watkins Jr. and Elder Mack Kendrick; two uncles, Howie Thompson and Samuel Thompson Jr.; four aunts, Sharon Jackson, Pearl Davis, Yvonne Cannon and Esther Parker; a cousin who was like a second mom to him, Marilyn Davis; 11 nephews; seven nieces; cousins; and other relatives and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Dickerson Chapel Church, U.S. 113, Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. Elder Mack Kendrick will officiate and deliver the eulogy.
Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday in the Old Field Cemetery, Millsboro.

Nelson Howard 'Butch' Kefauver, 53
BRIDGEVILLE - Nelson Howard "Butch" Kefauver of Bridgeville died Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2002, in his home. He was 53.
Mr. Kefauver was born June 30, 1949, in Milford, son of Rosalie Kefauver of Bridgeville and the late Nelson M. Kefauver, who died in 1991.
He had worked at Fulton Bradley Co. as a welder.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Sandy Smith of Bridgeville; a brother, David M. Kefauver of Bridgeville; a niece, Darlene McDonald of Bridgeville; two nephews, Philip L. Lord Jr. and Duke T. Lord, both of Bridgeville; a great-niece, Jessica Kefauver of Bridgeville; and a great-nephew, Jeremiah Lord of Wiggins, Miss.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Parsell Funeral Home & Crematorium, Hardesty Chapel, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Mary H. Stevenson, 87
Princess Anne, Md. - Mary H. Stevenson of Princess Anne died of natural causes Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999, in Manokin Manor nursing home in Princess Anne. She was 87.
Mrs. Stevenson was born Jan. 31, 1912, in Princess Anne, the daughter of the late Sidney M. Smith and Angeline Wilson Smith. She also was the step-daughter of Janie Waters Smith.
She attended Greenwood School, Princess Anne.
She married Sidney Stevenson Jan. 18, 1934.
Mrs. Stevenson was a member of Metropolitan United Method-ist Church. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Walter Polk Post 132.
In addition to her husband, parents and stepmother, she was preceded in death by a son, Thomas James Stevenson; and two brothers, Thomas James Smith and John Edward Wa-ters.
She is survived by two daugh-ters, Helen Stevenson Deepree and Marian Stevenson Niskey; a son-in-law, Raymond Niskey; five grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thurs-day at Metropolitan United Methodist Church, Princess Anne.

Burial will be in John Wesley Church Cemetery, Princess Anne.

M. Ann West, 70
BOWERS BEACH - M. Ann West of Bowers Beach, and for-merly of Newark, died of pneu-monia Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 70.
Mrs. West graduated from Ridley Township High School in Pennsylvania in 1947; she had been head cheerleader while a student there.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. West was a member of the Chapel Street Players, New-ark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlton V. West, in 1990; a daughter, Shelly Robinson, in 1971; a stepson, James Carlton West, in 1990; and a grandson, Gary Robin-son, in 1995.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth Robinson of Camden and Gary Robinson of Newark; three daughters, Carol J. Teel and Amy Ferguson, both of Newark, and Gail Lenhoff of Elkton, Md.; four stepdaugh-ters, Jacquelin Boyles of Mem-phis, Catherine McClain of Smyrna, Marcie Waybright of Wyoming and Patricia McNelly of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Robert Morrissey of Florida; three sisters, Jean Smith of Florida and Patricia Morrissey and Michelle Morrissey, both of Pennsylvania; 17 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and an aunt, Margaret Kline of Woodlyn, Pa.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Grace R. Clark, 71
NEWARK - Grace R. Clark of Newark died. Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in her home. She was 71.
Mrs. Clark was a dollmaker and owner of C&G Ceramics.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Calvin Clark; a son, Calvin E. Clark Jr. of Columbus, Ga.; two daughters, Nellie "Cookie" Maxwell of Bear and Sharon McGuire of Felton; a brother, Walter Zerby of Bear; two sisters, Florence Kandybowski of Newark and Minnie Hoosgood of Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. JoAnn Gale Large, 54
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - JoAnn Gale Large of Chestertown died. Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in her home. She was 54.
Ms. Large was born Dec. 8, 1944, in Baltimore, the daughter of Florence Gale Tubbs of Chestertown and the late Joseph Jerome.
She graduated from high school and attended two years at Chandler School for Women in Boston.
Ms. Large was married for 20 years to Ronald D. Large.
She was a homemaker for the majority of her life, residing in Chestertown for the past 12 years.
She enjoyed knitting, ceramics and general arts and crafts.
Ms. Large was a member of Asbury Methodist Church in Millington.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sons, Ronald David Large of Smyrna, Del., and Robert Joseph Large of Worton.; a brother, Joseph Jerome Tubbs Jr. of Collierville, Tenn.; a sister, Dorothy Tubbs McMullen of Mill Creek, Wash.; and a grandchild.

M. Lorraine Wyatt Jarnagin, 65
NEWARK - M. Lorraine Wyatt Jarnagin of Newark died of Alzheimer's disease Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, in the Newark home of her daughter, Karen E. Johnson. She was 65.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Wyatt and Martha Wyatt Pusey; her stepfather, William Pusey; a brother, John C. Wyatt on Oct. 17, 1999; and a sister, Gertrude Lawson.
She is survived by three sons, Kenneth L. Pusey of Middletown, Stanley R. Jarnagin of Bear and Bruce H. Jarnagin of Newark; five daughters, Karen E. Johnson, Janice K. Collins and Jill Newton, all of Newark, Ellen M. Owens of Dover and Tracey D. Jarnagin of Portsmouth, Va.; a brother, Ernest Wyatt of Townsend; a sister, Martha Gravenor of Newark; a foster brother, Wallace Pusey of Newark; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Daniel Ray Tingle, 46
GUMBORO - Daniel Ray Tingle of Gumboro died Monday, Nov. 1, 1999, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. Determination of the cause of death is pending autopsy results. He was 46.
Mr. Tingle was the son of Elmer Bert Tingle and Viola Jones Tingle of Selbyville.
He was a sheet metal worker for Delmarva Sheet Metal Inc. of Pittsville, Md. Mr. Tingle was a member of Delaware Blue NSSA Skirmish and the Lower Sussex County Black Powder Club.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by three sons, Nathan Daniel Tingle, Matthew Paul Tingle and Ryan Robert Tingle, all of Gumboro; a brother, Elmer Bert "Sonny" Tingle Jr. of Millsboro; and two sisters, Cheryl Lynn Silver of Virginia Beach, Va., and Lisa Joyner of Salisbury, Md.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Frankford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Mabel 'Aunt Mabel' Sudler, 88
LEWES - Mabel "Aunt Mabel" Sudler of Lewes died Sunday, Oct. 31, 1999, in Harbor Health Care facilities in Lewes. She was 88.
Mrs. Sudler was born March 4, 1911, in Dover, the daughter of the late John Henry Townsend and Mollie Townsend.
She attended the Dover school system.
She worked for Playtex in Dover and the powder plant (military munitions), in Elkton, Md., and she worked at Delaware State University in Dover before retiring.
Over the years, Mrs. Sudler accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ as her personal savior.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilmar Sudler; a son, George Sudler; four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her caretakers, Ernest and Jean Sudler of Dover and Alfred and Mae Johnson of Camden; a dear friend and relative, Ida Benson of Willow Grove; a daughter-in-law, Mamie Sudler of Newark, N.J.; two brothers, Alfred Townsend of Houston, Texas, and Lester Townsend of Mays Landing, N.J.; six sisters, Beatrice Smith, Marie Peters, Florence Townsend and Virginia Townsend, all of Atlantic City, N.J., Mollie Smith and Rachael Townsend, both of Egg Harbor City, N.J.; a brother-in-law, Edward Peters of Atlantic City; a sister-in-law, Elaine Townsend of Mays Landing; and a host of nephews, nieces and cousins.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.

Roy T. Smoot Sr., 65
BURLINGTON, W. Va. - Roy T. Smoot Sr. of Burlington, formerly of Baltimore, died of heart failure Tuesday, Nov. 2, 1999, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford, Del. He was 65.
Mr. Smoot retired in 1988 from the Baltimore Police Department, where he served for 32 years.
He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Burlington Union Church.
He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin P. Smoot, in 1995.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth "Libby" Fox Smoot; three sons, Dr. Roy T. Smoot Jr. and Scott H. Smoot Sr., both of Seaford, and Keith E. Smoot of Burlington; and eight grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Ralph Cahall, 74
TOWNSEND - Ralph Cahall of Townsend died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999 in his home. He was 74.
Mr. Cahall was born Nov. 5, 1934 in Odessa, the son of the late Roland Samuel Cahall and Pearl Morris Cahall.
He worked as a heavy equipment operator at Greggo & Ferrara in New Castle over 20 years. In 1986, he co-founded Ralph Cahall & Son Paving, Inc., which he continued to operate as president. He was a mem-ber of the Delaware Asphalt Paving Association and loved attending auctions. Mr. Cahall was a devoted family man and loved his work.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael S. Cahall in September, 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Scott Cahall; five sons, Ralph W. Cahall Jr. of Smyrna, Roger T. Cahall of Townsend, Wesley T. Cahall of Clayton, Ralph Steven Cahall of Smyrna and Ronald W. Cahall of Town-send; four daughters, Jean Marie Brown of Clayton, Carolyn Barnes of Townsend, Nancy Willis of Hartly and Arleen Biddle of Townsend; three sisters, Pearl Daniels of Clayton, Naomi Daniels of Townsend and Dorothy Reed of Bear; 24 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.
