Daniel Edward Diem, 39
MILLSBORO - Daniel Edward Diem of Millsboro died of natural causes Monday, Sept. 23, 2002, in his home. He was 39.
Mr. Diem was born in Baltimore, son of Sarah Emerson Diem of Millsboro and the late Edward S. Diem.
He was a pipe fitter and plumber.
He is survived by two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Don A. and Pepper Emerson of Baltimore and Stephen E. and Jennie Diem of Edgewood.
Services were private.

Martha V. Gallagher, 90
BETHANY BEACH - Martha V. Gallagher of Bethany Beach, formerly of Baltimore, died Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 90.
Mrs. Gallagher was born in Rosedale, Md., daughter of the late Walter and Ann Wojtasik.
She was a homemaker.
She showed her artistic abilities and uncomplaining nature right to the end, despite her vision and hearing impairments.
Mrs. Gallagher was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church, Bethany Beach.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Eugene; a son, Daniel; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be private.

Ann J. Reinhold, 55
DENTON, Md. - Ann J. Reinhold of Denton died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, in Shore Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Denton. She was 55.
Mrs. Reinhold was born in Easton, daughter of the late Nelson W. Schulke and Myra Ethel Lord Schulke.
She was a graduate of Col. Richardson High School, Federalsburg, in 1965.
Mrs. Reinhold had worked at the Woolworth's store, Seaford, Del., for 10 years, and then, was a cashier for the Eckerd's Drug Store, Seaford, for the past 25 years, retiring this past June.
She was a collector of many things and a lover of cats, owning five.
Mrs. Reinhold was a member of the Denton Church of the Brethren.
She is survived by her husband, Frederic A. Reinhold of Denton; and two stepsons, Eric A. Reinhold of Gaithersburg and Dale Reinhold of Denton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in the Denton Church of the Brethren, Seventh Street, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Federalsburg.

Temple Stubbs, 98
FELTON - Temple Stubbs of Felton died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 98.
Mr. Stubbs was a farmer in the Felton area, retiring in 1965.
Mr. Stubbs was past president of the Mount Olive Cemetery, Felton, and a member of the South Side Baptist Church, Dover.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae Clark Stubbs.
He is survived by four sisters-in-law, Marian Stubbs of Dover, Frances Stubbs of Magnolia, Evelyn Pierson of Wilmington and Pauline Frazier of Felton; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Tina Voss of Felton.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Berry-Short Funeral Home, Main Street, Felton.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in funeral home.
Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
William G. 'Bill' Unruh, 87
TAYLOR'S BRIDGE - William G. "Bill" Unruh of Taylor's Bridge, east of Townsend, and formerly of Middletown, died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, in SunBridge Care Center, Elkton, Md. He was 87.
Mr. Unruh was born on the "Levels," near Townsend, son of the late William E. and Mabel Reynolds Unruh.
Mr. Unruh was a 1934 graduate of Middletown High School.
He farmed his entire life, operating dairy farms in Delaware near Middletown and Taylor's Bridge. He was well-respected for his work ethic and will be missed by his family and friends.
He was an avid outdoorsman, and loved to hunt and trap the marshes of Delaware and Maryland.
Mr. Unruh was a member of the Cecil County (Md.) Coon Hunters Club, and at one time, he coached their softball team. He also served on the board of directors for Southern States.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilhelmina, in 2001; and a sister, Kathryn Alfree, in 1994.
He is survived by his children and their spouses, Jo-Ell Malloy of Newark, Bill and Doris Unruh of Clayton, Tom and June Unruh, Covey and Becky Unruh, Delbert and Kathy Unruh and Martha and Larry McDowell, all of Taylor's Bridge; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Friendship Church Cemetery, Paddock Road, east of Smyrna.

Jim Wengerd, 71
LINCOLN - Jim Wengerd of Lincoln died Thursday, Oct. 3, 2002, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 71.
Mr. Wengerd was born in Pere River, Miss., son of the late Jacob and Fannie (Schrock) Wengerd.
He worked as a truck driver for Burris Foods, Milford, and the former T.R.P. Trucking Co., Millington, Md., for 35 years before retiring in 1992.
He liked to play pool and to take his rifle and go groundhog hunting, and enjoyed reading a good book. He loved helping out his family and friends, especially with any carpentry work.
Mr. Wengerd was a member of the Milford Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife of 481/2 years, Virginia; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Linda M. and Gene Beebe and Wanda A. and David Nailor, all of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Crystal L. Tisher, Danny C. Benton Jr., Lisa M. Benton and Melissa G. Nailor; and a great-granddaughter, Alexys Welch.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Del. 16, Greenwood.
Ronald Lee Wilkerson, 30
MILLSBORO - Ronald Lee Wilkerson of Millsboro died Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, in his home. He was 30.
Mr. Wilkerson was born in Salisbury, Md., son of the late Ronald D. and Patricia A. Quillen Wilkerson.
He worked at Intervet, Millsboro, for the past six years.
Mr. Wilkerson was a member of the Southern Delaware Street Rod Association and played on the Intervet softball team.
He is survived by a brother, Keith Wilkerson of Millsboro; a sister, Sandra Culp of Lakenheath, England; his paternal grandmother, Ethel Wilkerson of Selbyville; two nieces, Victoria Wilkerson and Seraphina Culp; and a special family friend, Brittany Parker of Laurel.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday in the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. The Rev. Mark Erskine will officiate.

The Rev. John Butler Tripple III, 60
SEAFORD - The Rev. John Butler Tripple III of Seaford died after a lengthy and courageous battle against liver disease Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, with his family at his side. He was 60.
Mr. Tripple was born on Feb. 17, 1939, in Wilmington, the son of the late Amanda C. Tripple and John B. Tripple Jr.
He graduated from Penns Grove Regional High School, and graduated from Goldey Beacom School of Business, Drexel University and Eastern Mennonite Seminary.
He served in the U.S. Army at Fort Dix, N.J.
He served in the Virginia Conference of the United Methodist Church from 1975 to 1983. He served in the Peninsula-Delaware Conference of the United Methodist from 1983-1997. He served in Townsend, Cherry Hill, Md; Elk Mills, Md.; Laurel; Woodland; Fruitland, Md., and Cokesbury, Md.
He enjoyed history, travel and gardening. He was known for his sense of humor, his laugh and love of driving. He was a patient, generous father and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
The Rev. Tripple belonged to the Sons of the American Revolution and the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Carole Tripple; a son, Nick Tripple at home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Heidi and Chris Tryon of North Brunswick, N.J., and Krista Green of Elkton, Md; and numer-ous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Friends may also call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be 2 p.m. Friday in Lawnside Cemetery, Woodstown, N.J.

Eugene Bowers, 69
MILFORD - Eugene Bowers of Milford died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Genesis Elder Care, Milford. He was 69.
Mr. Bowers was born on Oct. 8, 1930, the son of James and Margaret Bowers Sr.
He worked as an electrician for Local 54 electrical workers in New Jersey.
He loved the outdoors.
He is survived by a special friend, Marie Ruggiero of Hartly; an adopted family, Lou and Bonnie Ruggeri-ero and their children, all of Smyrna, and Ralph and Jean Ruggiero and their children, all of Virginia; a sister, Marge Jantzen of Wayne, N.J.; and a brother, James Bowers of Newark.
Graveside service will be noon today in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover.

Iven C. Bryant Sr., 91
NEWARK - Iven C. Bryant died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in his home, surrounded by his family. He was 91.
Mr. Bryant was born on April 21, 1908, in Surry County, N.C., the son of the late John and Emmie Bry-ant.
He owned and operated with his wife the Zephyr Knoll Day Care, Newark, retiring in 1972 after 20 years.
He loved his lord, his family, his church, traveling, reading and family gatherings, and was an avid bowler and chess player.
Mr. Bryant was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church, Newark, and a member of the Newark Senior Center.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Alice Sheppard Bryant. A daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and J. Sherman White; a son and daughter-in-law, Iven C. Jr. and Lynne Bryant of Wetaskwin, Alberta; four grandchildren, Patricia L. White of Euless Texas, James S. and Cheryl A. White of Newark, Christian I. and Kristen Bryant of Wetaskwin, E. Dawn and Scott Mugrage of Page, Ariz.; five great-grandchildren, James S., Justin M., and Joshua Bryant White, Matthew D. and Alyssa R. Mugrage; five sisters, Bertha Sheppard of Williards, Md., Arlis Wolf and Iona Brown of Wyoming, Ocie Brown of Dover and Lena Mes-sick of Frederica; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Alice Grace Baldwin, 82
DOVER - Alice Grace Baldwin of Dover, formerly of Marydel, Md., died Tuesday, Nov. 9, 1999, in Silver Lake Center, Dover. She was 82.
Mrs. Baldwin was born on May 2, 1917, in Laurel, Md., the daughter of the late Charles and Fannie Ash-ley Schmier.
She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harris Baldwin.
She is survived by a daughter, Ruth McNeil of Marydel; a brother, Harry Schmier of Crisfield, two grand-children; and three great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Md., where friends may call one hour prior to service.

Jerrin Elijah Baynard-Mowbray, stillborn
FELTON- Jerrin Elijah Baynard-Mowbray of Felton died Wednesday, Nov. 3, 1999, in Bayhealth Medi-cal Center, Milford. He was stillborn.
Jerrin was the son of Kimberly R. Baynard of Felton and Michael L. Mowbray of Wilmington.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Norman L. and Veronica A. Baynard of Felton; and his paternal grandfather, Michael Warren of Smyrna.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Sharon Hills Cemetery, Dover.

Florence K. Winstead, 90
LANCASTER, Pa. - Florence K. Winstead, formerly of Ridgely, Md., died of natural causes Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in St. Joseph Hospital, Lancaster. She was 90.
Mrs. Winstead was born on Aug. 25, 1909, in Annapolis, Md., the daughter of John Walter and Mary Re-becca Spurry Knott.
She lived in Ridgely Md., for 32 years.
She worked for Sachs as a sales associate in Ridgely, retiring in 1956.
Mrs. Winstead was a member of St. Benedicts Catholic Church, Ridgely.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mallory B. Winstead Sr., on May 29, 1990.
She is survived by a son, Mallory B. Winstead Jr. of Ridgely; two daughters, Rebecca Wade of Denton and Linda Hoffmaster of Lancaster; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Benedicts Catholic Church, Ridgely.

Alice Golden Stevenson, 70
MILTON - Alice Golden Stevenson of Milton died following a lengthy illness Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She was 70.
Mrs. Stevenson was born Aug. 11, 1929, in Philadelphia, the youngest of 10 children of the late Clarence and Victoria Baylor Golden.
She graduated from Philadelphia's Simon Gratz High School in 1947. A strong believer in the value of education, she returned to school and received a B.S. in accounting from Wilmington College in 1989 at age 60. She had completed course work toward a master's degree in liberal arts before illness ended her formal studies. She was initiated as a member of the Delta Sigma Theta sorority in 1995.
At a young age, Alice Gertrude Golden showed an aptitude for music. She studied piano, and was an ac-complished musician when she met Howard C. Stevenson, now of Milton, in Philadelphia. They were mar-ried in 1957, and moved to Delaware. In 26 months, Mrs. Stevenson bore three children, who became "the joy of [her] life," as she often stated. She was a very loving and devoted mother who was extremely proud of the "doctor, lawyer and music teacher" she raised.
She was a supervisory budget analyst at Dover Air Force Base before retiring in 1988.
Mrs. Stevenson fought for the racial integration of public schools in the early 1960s, and was a vocal ad-vocate for equal rights throughout her life.
In the 1970s she started playing piano and organ for local church choirs in Sussex County before be-coming the minister of music at Calvary Baptist Church, a position which included directing the choir. She was instrumental in developing several well-known gospel-music groups and church choirs, including the Voices of Calvary.
Mrs. Stevenson was a devout Christian who was adored by scores of children, teen-agers, adults and senior citizens with whom she worked in musical groups and as a substitute teacher. She generously shared hugs, an encouraging word and a beautiful smile with all around her, and will never be forgotten for her loving personality and acts of tremendous kindness. She is much loved by her family and friends, who mourn her loss but celebrate her life and faith and the beauty of her spirit.
In addition to her husband of 42 years, she is survived by two sons, Dr. Howard C. Stevenson Jr. of Philadelphia and Bryan A. Stevenson of Montgomery, Ala.; a daughter, Christy Lynne Taylor of George-town; a son-in-law, Mark Taylor; three much-loved sisters: Elizabeth Ruiz of New York City, Victoria Mills of Philadelphia and Eleanor Johnson of Washington, D.C.; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; three grandchildren, Victoria and Mia Taylor, both of Georgetown, and Bryan Stevenson of Philadelphia; and dozens of beloved nephews, nieces and cousins.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Calvary Baptist Church, Del. 8, Dover, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Rolling Green Cemetery, Paoli, Pa.

Richard Robert Farrow, 64
SMYRNA - Richard Robert Farrow of Smyrna died Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, in Bayheath/Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 64.
Mr. Farrow was born on June 11, 1935, in Cape May, N.J., the son of the late Oliver W. Sr. and Clara Frame Farrow.
He grew up in Dover, graduating from Dover High School, and Washington College, Chestertown, where he was a member of Theta Chi and attended Temple Law School, Philadelphia.
Mr. Farrow was vice-president of human resources of the American Chicle Group of Warner Lambert Company, Morris Plains, N.J., for 14 years, retiring in 1990. He previously worked for Playtex of Dover, where he started his career. He worked for Playtex International in Glasgow, Scotland, for four- and-a-half years and continued with the company in New York. He also worked for Revlon in New York for seven years.
He enjoyed fishing and boating on the Chesapeake Bay, and enjoyed the ocean.
Mr. Farrow was a member of the Annapolis Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ann Welch Farrow of Smyrna; a brother, Oliver "Bud" Farrow Jr. of Camp Hill, Pa.; two sisters, Clara Putnam of Litchfield Park, Ariz., and Mary Farrow Evans of Glad-wyne, Pa.; and many nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
Service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 Lebanon Road, Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Old St. Anne's Cemetery, Middletown.

Charles A. Clifford, 83
DOVER - Charles A. Clifford of Dover died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in Bayhealth Medical Center, Dover. He was 83.
Mr. Clifford was born on Aug. 31, 1916, in Oxford, N.C., the son of the late S.W. and Annie Clifford.
He moved to North Carolina from New York to the South Seas and back again to New York, moving to Dover in 1965.
Mr. Clifford built hospitals and barracks during World War II.
He worked as a foreman for Joe Byler construction in Dover for 10 years, and built a few homes on his own, retiring in 1978.
Mr. Clifford was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Clifford, on Jan. 28, 1989; and five brothers, Mahlon, Randolph, Norman D., William T. and Clarence.
He is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth "Betty" Ann VanVessen of Sandtown and Joanie Stewart of Dover; a brother, John Clifford of Oxford, N.C.; five grandchildren, Meg Gravatt of Milford, Cara Grove of Harrington, Susan Kinnamon of Dover, Rob VanVessen of Sandtown and Kathy Scott of Charlestown, S.C.; and eight great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Marydel.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. tonight at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St., Dover, where evening prayers will be held.
