DOVER - Florence (Scott) Williams of Dover died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in the Masonic Home of Delaware. He was 95.
Mrs. Williams lived most of her life in Dover.
Mrs. Williams was formerly a matron with the Order of Eastern Star in Dover.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter James Williams, in 1999.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Walter F. and Joan Williams of Bethlehem, Pa; a sister, Elsee Scott of Upland, Pa.; three grandsons; and six great grandchildren.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday in Chandler Funeral Home, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington, where friends may call a half-hour earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

Clarence A. 'Junie' 'Bone Ranger' Allen Jr., 55
GREENWOOD - Clarence A. "Junie" "Bone Ranger" Allen Jr. of Greenwood died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, of respiratory failure in his home, surrounded by his family and friends. He was 55.
Mr. Allen was the son of the late Clarence A. Allen Sr. and the late Mildred Ann Prattis Weal. He moved to Delaware at the age of 6 months with his family.
He received his education at Greenwood High School (now Woodbridge High School).
Upon completion of high school, Mr. Allen enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving his country in the Vietnam War, from which he later received an honorable discharge. While in the Army, he received the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Expert M-14 and M-16 Sharpshooter awards and commendations.
He was a very skilled man who loved to work. Prior to his disability and illness, he held employment at various places, including L.D. Caulk Co., Milford, Bridgeville Machine Works, Bridgeville, and the Golden Corral, Seaford, and he was most recently employed, prior to his disability, with Sam Yoder and Sons, Greenwood.
During his free time, he enjoyed spending time with and caring for his family, shooting pool, playing backgammon and being the best non-NBA basketball player there was. He also assisted with the care of aunt, Owena Cephas, before her death, and his cousin, Nancy Cephas, who is still living.
Mr. Allen was a man who also loved to praise God, which he did during his membership at Williams Chapel Church in Bridgeville and his fellowship with the Mount Moriah Church in Greenwood.
In addition to his parents and his aunt, he was preceded in death by his stepparents, Moses Weal and Mabel LaMar; three sisters, Valerie, Gail and Jennifer; and a very special cousin, Cheryl Cephas, who was like a sister to him and for whom he cared during her illness.
In addition to his other cousin, he is survived by three sons, Victor Knowles of Smyrna, Calvin Allen of Georgetown and Clarence Allen III of Bridgeville; his former wife, Drucilla (Knowles) Allen; five sisters, Benita Weal Solola, with whom he resided, of Greenwood, Owena Weal and Sandra Madden, both of Providence, R.I., Thea Nichols of Newark and Brenda Jones of Seaford; four brothers, Wade Weal of Greenwood, Dana Sutton of Bridgeville, Garrett Allen of Philadelphia and William "Billy" Allen of Bath, N.Y.; four sisters-in-law, Stephene "Peaches" Weal of Greenwood, Stacie Sutton of Bridgeville, Marilyn Allen of Philadelphia and Beverly Allen of Seaford; another stepmother, Esther Sutton of Bridgeville; two stepbrothers, Curtis LaMar and Gary LaMar, both of Philadelphia; two stepsisters, Joan Betts and Joyce Overton, both of Philadelphia; two aunts, to whom he was very close and who helped raise him after the death of his biological mother, Louise Smith and Marian Dexter Smith, both of Bridgeville; and an uncle, Daniel Smith of Bridgeville.
Services will be 1 p.m. Sunday in Williams Chapel Church. 5011/2 N. Cannon St., Bridgeville, where friends may call from noon to 12:45 p.m. The Rev. Wilford McNeill will officiate and the Rev. Charles W. Smith Jr. will deliver the eulogy.
Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Alice L. Banta, 89
DOVER - Alice L. Banta of Dover died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 89.
Miss Banta was born Oct. 5, 1913 in Wilmington, daughter of the late Claude and Pauline Banta.
Until her retirement, she was a member of the support staff for the Delaware State Board of Education.
Miss Banta had lived in Dover for the past 30 years.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Anita D. Creasy, 85
LEWES - Anita D. Creasy of Lewes died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 85.
Mrs. Creasy was born in Nicholson, Pa., daughter of the late Robert and Eva Stone Dix.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Creasy was a member of the Ladies Auxilliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Creasy in 1999.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Creasy of Narvon, Pa. and Richard Creasy of Lewes; a brother, Robert Dix of Milton, Pa.; and six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.
Burial will be private in Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, Millsboro.
Peter E. Donnelly, 72
POINT PLEASANT, N.J. - Peter E. Donnelly of Point Pleasant died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Laurelton Village Care Center. He was 72.
Mr. Donnelly was born in New York, City, resided in Dover, Del. and moved to Point Pleasant in 1990.
Mr. Donnelly retired in 1969 as a master sergeant with the United States Air Force after 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Donnelly, who died in 1984.
He is survived by a daughter, Candace Benson of Dallas; a sister, Claire Deter of Point Pleasant; a grandson, Chris Geiger of Helen, Ga.; and a great-grandson, Christian Geiger.
Burial with full military honors will be 1 p.m. Friday in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden, Del.

Dorothy V. Evans, 90
OCEAN VIEW - Dorothy V. Evans of Ocean View died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in her home. She was 90.
Mrs. Evans was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Maria Rosalia Schwarz and William Karl Doderer.
She was a homemaker and worked in the Pre-sentence Office of the Court of Common Pleas at the Sussex County Courthouse, Georgetown.
She was a concert violinist and played at Carnegie Hall at the age of 5.
Mrs. Evans was a 56-year member of the Ocean View Church of Christ and a member of the Frankford Chapter 12 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Capt. Louis B. Evans; a daughter, Peggy Ann Wilgus; a sister, Maria Carolina Doderer; and a grandson, Glenn Murray.
She is survived by three daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Herb Murray, Norma Lee and Bill Wingate and Betty Jane and George Keen; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon Saturday in the Ocean View Church of Christ, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the Mariner's Bethel Cemetery in Ocean View.

Maggie Washington Fletcher, 94
LEWES - Maggie Washington Fletcher of Lewes died Tuesday, June 1, 2004, in the Lewes Convalescent Home, Lewes. She was 94.
Mrs. Fletcher was born on Aug. 16, 1909, daughter of the late Robert Lee and Ethel Holland Washington.
She received her education in the Maryland school system.
She was employed by various poultry companies for over 50 years.
Mrs. Fletcher was known for the good food that came from her restaurant, and also the concession stand at the Delaware State Fair in Harrington.
She was known for her overwhelming desire to work and help people wherever needed. She devoted the last 15 years of her life to the Seaford School District under the Senior Citizens Program.
Mrs. Fletcher was a member of the East Clarence Street Church of God where she served faithfully until her health failed. She was an usher, worked with the Willing Workers, and sang with the women's senior choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Fletcher; and a daughter, Frances Fletcher.
She is survived by five daughters and three sons-in-law, Selena and Scott Williams, Rosalie Coverdale, Laverne and Isaac Ross, all of Seaford, Margaret Dorsey of Greenwood, and Delores and Neil Davis of Milford; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Jean Fletcher, and Alan and Ruth Fletcher, all of Seaford; a grandson who she raised, Cpl. Orlando Fletcher and his wife Marcie of Wilmington; four sisters, Margaret Baker of New Jersey, Emma Mae Parks and Louise Dangerfield, both of Hurlock, Md., and Helen Strawberry of Pennsylvania; two brothers, John Washington of New York, and Randolph Washington of Maryland; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Church of God, East Clarence Street, Seaford.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Church of God, Stein Highway, Seaford.
Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery, Seaford.

Bobby Lee Lewis I, 47
LINCOLN - Bobby Lee Lewis I of Lincoln died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, in his home. He was 47.
Mr. Lewis was born April 27, 1957, in Lewes, son of the late Samuel and Hattie Lewis.
He was an active member of the Delaware Nation Guard serving from Feb. 21, 1981 until his death.
Mr. Lewis enjoyed landscaping his yard and repairing automobiles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Edith Mann and Doris Bowden.
He is survived by the love of his life, Miranda Lewis of Lincoln; a son, Bobby Lee Lewis II of Lincoln; two daughters, LaTanya Smith of Lincoln and LaTonya Lewis of Harrington; one stepdaughter, Tonya Washington of Dover; two granddaughters, Yevonte Smith and Anye Smith, both of Lincoln; two grandsons, Malik Drayton of Harrington and L. Justin Washington of Dover; four brothers, Samuel Lewis Jr. of Ellendale, John Lewis of Atlanta, Linwood Lewis of Felton and Othar Lewis of Milford; five sisters, Virginia Gibbs of Milford, Winnie Mann of Georgetown, Christine Gibbs of Dover, Ella Hardy of Georgetown, and Geraldine Burgman of Glen Bernie, Md.; and a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Pentecostal Church of God, Lincoln.
Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Ivory A. McDaniel, 84
MILFORD - Ivory A. McDaniel of Harrington died of natural causes, Thursday June 3, 2004, in Genesis Milford Center, Milford, where she had been a resident since November 2003. She previously was a resident at Green Meadows Assisted Living for two years. She was 84.
Mrs. McDaniel was born in Ferrum, Va., daughter to the late Posey and Lillian Hudson.
She moved to Harrington in 1948 where she began a working career at the Sussex Co. in Milford; James Thompson Co. in Greenwood; Mar-Clay Mills in Milford; and Delaware Mills in Frederica. When she retired she joined the Foster Grandparents Program and worked in the Lake Forest School District.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel A. McDaniel, in 1968.
She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Wanda Kay and Roy Marker of Harrington and Gayle Jones of Milford; a sister, Iris Plunkett of Roanoke, Va.; two grandchildren, Melinda Carroll and Paul Rash Jr., both of Harrington; and a great-granddaughter, Brandi Plummer.
Services will be 4 p.m. Sunday in Price Funeral Home, 6 Dorman St., Harrington.

Emma Elizabeth Shahan
Emma Elizabeth Shahan, 80
FREDERICA - Emma Elizabeth Shahan of Frederica died Thursday, June 3, 2004, in Christiana Care-Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 80.
Mrs. Shahan was born Feb. 16, 1924, in Dover, daughter of the late Ira Sr. and Mildred Tomlinson Glanden.
She was a homemaker.
She was an avid trivia buff and will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Mrs. Shahan was a life member of the Bowers Ladies Auxiliary, where she held all offices in her 51 years of service, a member of the Women of the Moose of Harrington, and a member of Walter L. Fox American Legion Auxiliary Unit 2.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Leon "Smokey" Shahan, Oct. 9, 2000; and a brother, Lawrence Roland Glanden, in 2001.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel Leon Sr. and Connie Marie Shahan of Dover; five daughters and two sons-in-law, Bonnie R. Witt, Linda Ann and Hank Hudson, Beverly J. Shahan, Marielen Elizabeth Littleton and Mille A. Boc and John W. Boc Jr., all of Frederica; a brother and sister-in-law, Ira Jr. and Betty Glanden of Felton; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Steve Alan Vickers, 49
SEAFORD - Steve Alan Vickers of Seaford died Thursday, June 3, 2004, as the result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident near Seaford. He was 49.
Mr. Vickers worked for Grotto's Pizza.
He loved camping and fishing.
Mr. Vickers was a member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his mother, Eunice Vickers of Seaford; his father and stepmother, Preston and Ruthann Vickers of Laurel; a sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Dave Mercer of Federalsburg, Md.; his girlfriend, Terry Weindorfer of Georgetown; two aunts, Viola Fleming and Alice Brittingham; a cousin, Diane McClay of Missouri; and an aunt and uncle, Ruth and Jim Henderson of Fort Meyers, Fla.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery, Seaford.
Angus D. Allen, 88
CAMDEN - Angus D. Allen of Camden formerly of Vernon, N.Y., died Friday, June 4, 2004, in his home. He was 88.
Mr. Allen was born April 19, 1916, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, son of the late George and Lillian (MacGilvary) Allen.
He was a veteran of the Canadian Army, having served in World War II.
He was a racehorse trainer for the Standardbred Industry, retiring in 2002 after 65 years in harness racing.
Mr. Allen had lived in Delaware for four months, coming from Vernon. He was a life-long member of the United States Trotting Association of Columbus, Ohio, and a member of the Central New York Harness Horsemen Association. He enjoyed training horses and being at the track, and he was always quick with a joke, a story, or a little song.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Loretta.
He is survived by a son, Brian Allen and his fiancée Kathleen White of Felton; four daughters, Marilyn Allen and her husband Jeff Klein of Ithaca, N.Y., Susan Allen and Tony Rossi of Vernon, Lauren Allen and Gary Miller of Camden, N.Y., and Karen Curran and her husband Chuck Curran of Toronto; two granddaughters, Melissa Allen of Vernon and Caitlyn Allen of Jacksonville, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Carnerie; and a brother, Donald Allen of Halifax.
Services will be held in Vernon.

Janet S. Eckler, 71
TOWNSEND - Janet S. Eckler of Townsend died peacefully Friday, June 4, 2004, in her home surrounded by her family. She was 71.
Mrs. Eckler had been a resident at Churchmans Village in Newark.
She was a homemaker and had worked for Avon Products, Loving Care Nursery in Smyrna, and Dr. Walter Lee, formerly of Middletown.
Mrs. Eckler was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and she will always be remembered for her hospitality and great wit.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Cleon C. "Bear" Eckler Jr., March 31, 2004.
She is survived by a son, Cleon C. "Chuck" Eckler III and his wife Belinda of Townsend; a daughter, Pamela E. Bailey and her husband Dave of Townsend; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Davis and Ruth Staats of Claymont, and Davey and Nancy Staats of Townsend; three grandchildren, David, Ryan and Jessica; several nieces and nephews; and her caregiver, whom the family wishes to send a special thank you, Vickie Orr.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the Townsend Cemetery.

Hazel M. Marvel, 89
MILTON - Hazel M. Marvel of Milton died Saturday, June 5, 2004, in her home. She was 89.
Mrs. Marvel was born in Harbeson, daughter of the late Walter and Laurel (Steel) Sherman.
She worked as a manager for Emmanuel's Department Store for many years.
She was well known in the area as an Avon representative for over 30 years.
Mrs. Marvel was a member of the Henlopen Grange 20 in Lewes and Whites Chapel United Methodist Church in Milton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin M. Marvel, in 2002; a brother, Arthur W. Sherman; a sister, Elizabeth Brown; a half-sister, Marie Sherman; and a half brother, Raymond Sherman.
She is survived by a half-brother, George W. Sherman of Milton; a half-sister, Betty Jane Towers of Seaford; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.

Michael D. McGinniss, 47
MILLSBORO - Michael D. McGinniss of Millsboro formerly of Hyattsville, Md., died Friday, June 4, 2004, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 47.
Mr. McGinniss was born July 31, 1956, in Washington, D.C., son of the late Francis A. and Eileen H. (Rogers) McGinniss.
He was an auto mechanic.
Mr. McGinniss was an avid car buff and enjoyed attending local car shows.
He is survived by a sister, Mary K. McGinniss of Millsboro; two brothers, Francis P. McGinniss of Lewes and John E. McGinniss of Laurel, Md.; two nieces, Kelly and Karlie; and two nephews, P.J. and Jason.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Carey's Cemetery, Millsboro.
