FRANKFORD - Clinton Edward Hall of Frankford died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003, in the Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewes. He was 74.
Mr. Hall was born in Ocean View, son of the late James G. and Maggie E. Rogers Hall.
He was a farmer and poultry worker before retiring.
He enjoyed playing cards, hunting, crabbing, fishing, gardening and most of all, talking.
Mr. Hall was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Evelyn Snead Hall; a daughter, Vanessa Waters of Frankford; a stepson, Leroy Snead of Selbyville; a stepdaughter, Connie Harmon of Frankford; two brothers, Aldon Hall of Clarksville and Ernest Hall of Philadelphia; three sisters, Agnes Coleman of New Jersey, Leona Hall of Clarksville and Lucinda White of Wilmington; eight grandchildren, Denisha Stanley, Dionne Johnson, Traves Snead, Dishika Waters, Nakedra Waters, Leera Snead, Jasmine West and Davonte Waters; and four step-grandchildren.
Services will be 12:30 p.m. Monday in the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Patriot's Way, Millsboro.
Sophronia (Froney) Bailey Henry, 98
MILFORD - Sophronia (Froney) Bailey Henry of Milford died following a brief illness Monday, Feb. 3, 2003, at Genesis Nursing Home, Milford, where she had been a resident for the past eight years. She was 98.
Mrs. Henry was born Feb. 27, 1904, in Northhampton County, Va., daughter of the late James and Ida Bailey.
She had achieved an eighth-grade education.
Accepting Christ as a youth, she became a member of African Baptist Church in Cheriton, Va., for many years. Upon moving to Delaware in the mid-50s, she joined Mount Enon Baptist Church in Milford, where she served on the missionary and willing worker's board.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Henry; five brothers, Edward, David, Fleming, Sanford and Fred; and a sister, Helen.
She is survived by a daughter, Ida Mae Henry Sturgis of Greenwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Irvin Nathaniel and Roberta of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Sandra Maria Bowe, who she raised as her own; Thomas L. Henry; Linda Whipple and husband, Lonzo; and Irvin N. Henry Jr. and wife Patricia; five great-grandchildren, Shon Bowe who she played a significant roll in raising, Tasha, Lauren and Michael Henry and Nicole Whipple; a great-great-grandchild, Marquel; three brothers, George, Thomas and Milton Bailey; a sister, Pearl Gaymon; three sisters-in-law, Theora, Evelyn and Nora Bailey; and many devoted nieces, nephews, surrogate children, grandchildren and friends.
Services will be noon Saturday in Avenue United Methodist Church, Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Stella M. Huey, 79
MILFORD - Stella M. Huey of Milford died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003, in Bayhealth/Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 79.
Mrs. Huey was a seamstress at I.L.C. in Frederica in 1985. She operated Stella Ceramicsa for many years, retiring in 2002.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, James H. Huey Sr.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Maureen Austin of Baltimore, and Jesse and Nancy Miles of Viola; a daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Ed Moczulski of Milford; two stepsons and stepdaughters-in-law, James Jr. and Jane Huey of Milford and C. Lester and Pat Huey of Milford; a sister, Peggy Whey of Rock City, S.C.; a brother, Raymond Larcombe of Lake Worth, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Services will be noon Saturday in Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Denton Cemetery, Denton.
Charles Edward 'Brother Jenkins' Jenkins Sr., 82
SEAFORD - Charles Edward "Brother Jenkins" Jenkins Sr. of Seaford died of natural causes Friday, Jan. 30, 2003, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 82.
Mr. Jenkins was born in Concord, near Seaford, son of the late Ada and Williams Jenkins. He was the 10th of 12 children.
He received his early education at the Frederick Douglass School in Seaford.
Mr. Jenkins married Ida Mae Hunter Jan. 7, 1941. He served his country faithfully in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received the American Campaign Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After the war, he received an honorable discharge.
He worked for Parson Mills Lumber Yard, Houston Culver Fertilizing Co. and Nanticoke Cleaners. In 1966, his big break came, and he became employed by the Seaford School District until 1985, and retired with 19 years of dedicated and productive service. He spent his last years working, along with one of his sons, in the plywood business.
He enjoyed watching and attending sports, especially the Orioles, gardening and livestock. He lived a wonderful life with his family, and he loved his family and the Lord with all of his heart.
Mr. Jenkins received salvation many years ago under the ministry of Bishop Clarence Denson at the East Clarence Street Church of God, where he was a member for many years. He was an active member of Williams Chapel Church in Bridgeville, and he was a devout Christian who served as a deacon and a trustee of the church as well as a father of the church, and before becoming ill, he sang on the Male Choir and the Senior Choir. He was the one who prayed over the Communion emblems at the church before Holy Communion for at least the past 30 years or more. He was a quiet man who had his own special seat within the church, and everyone knew Brother Jenkins' seat.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert Lee and Elizabeth Jenkins of Salisbury, Md., Charles Jenkins Jr. and Regina Jenkins of Dover and Linwood and Francine Jenkins of Concord; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Myrtle Jenkins of Middleford, Frankie and Tyrone Griffin of Bridgeville and Beatrice and Elzey Jones of Seaford; 14 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other family and friends.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Williams Chapel Church, 5011/2 N. Cannon St., Bridgeville.
Services will be noon Saturday in the church, where friends also may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Wilford McNeill will officiate and the Rev. Charles W. Smith Jr. will deliver the eulogy.

Jessica Darlene Jewett, 21
GEORGETOWN - Jessica Darlene Jewett of Georgetown died suddenly Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003. She was 21.
She is survived by her loving parents, Bob and Kelly Jewett; five brothers, Bob, Aubrey, Moss, Shay and Jimmy; a sister, Sarah; her birth mother, Kelly Springer; her grandparents, Cmdr. and Mrs. John Springer; and many nieces and nephews.
Celebration of life, in the form of an open house, will be 1 p.m. Sunday in the home of her parents, 23 Snow Road, Georgetown.

Virginia M. 'Ginny' Johnson, 70
SEAFORD - Virginia M. "Ginny" Johnson of Seaford died of a heart attack Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. She was 70.
Mrs. Johnson was born April 1, 1932, in Bridgeville, daughter of the late Leon Cannon and Frances W. Nichols-Purnell.
She received her formal education in the Seaford School District.
Mrs. Johnson married Charles H. Johnson Sr. May 12, 1959; they became the proud parents of six children.
In her younger years, she became employed by Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, where she served in the capacity of dietary supervisor for 27 years before she retired in 1986.
Mrs. Johnson was a woman full of love and had a genuine concern for the family. She always did what she could to make sure her family was taken care of in every way, neglecting her own needs.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; a son, Dennis T. Johnson; and four brothers, James Purnell, Robert Nichols, Harris Cannon and Nathaniel Cannon.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons-in-law, Gilda Nichols-Pinckens and Marion Pinckens of Bridgeville, Peggy F. Nichols of Salisbury, Md., and Darlene E. and Michael Thompson of Seaford; two sons and two daughters-in-law, Oliver G. and Barbara Nichols and Charles H. Johnson Jr. and Stephanie Johnson, all of Salisbury; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Elmer Purnell Jr. and Loretta Purnell, Edward and Barbara Purnell and Cleon Cannon, all of Seaford, and Wilson and Betty Ann Purnell and William L. and Ethel Purnell, all of Bridgeville; eight sisters and six brothers-in-law, Lucretia Richards, Gwendolyn and Robert Hammond, Esther and Walter Pinder and Gloria and Victor Epps, all of Seaford, Betty and Wayne Wilson of Cambridge, Md., Phyllis Jackson and Edith and James Heath, all of Sicklerville, N.J., and Diane and Wayne Morris of Lewes; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ola Mae Laws, 97
GEORGETOWN - Ola Mae Laws of Georgetown died of heart failure Saturday, Feb. 1, 2003, in Harrison House, Georgetown. She was 97.
Mrs. Laws was born Sept. 26, 1905, in Laurel.
She was a domestic worker.
Mrs. Laws was a member of Prospect A.M.E. Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Laws; and a son, Charles Laws Sr.
She is survived by a son, Granville Oney of Georgetown; a sister, Bertha Baynard of Milford; two daughters-in-law, Edna Laws and Helena Oney, both of Georgetown; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Prospect A.M.E. Church, Railroad Avenue, Georgetown, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Mount Calvary A.M.E. Cemetery, Concord.
Eugene B. Burns Jr., 78, and Ida C. Burns, 76
HARRINGTON - Eugene B. Burns Jr. and Ida C. Burns of Harrington died Monday, June 7, 2004, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was 78 and she was 76.
Mr. Burns was born in Rock Hall, Md., son of the late Eugene B. Sr. and Lillian Leppo Burns.
Mrs. Burns was born in Baltimore, daughter of the late William and Margaret Bossman Wockenfuss.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. and Mrs. Burns had been employed at Toby Hanna Army Depot in Pennsylvania for many years. He retired in 1983 as an electronics foreman and she retired in 1988 as an electronics technician.
He enjoyed woodworking and she enjoyed reading and crossword puzzles. They were married for 49 years and had both enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Mr. and Mrs. Burns had been members of the AARP.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
They are survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Beverly Burns of Vienna, Va., Denise Overcash of Bartonsville, Pa., and Darleen and Christopher Ham of Vienna; a son and a daughter-in-law, Keith and Deborah Burns of Bartonsville; four grandchildren, Ryan Burns, Kevin Overcash, Tyler Ham and Jacob Ham; Ida's two brothers, Martin Wockenfuss of Cloverdale, Calif. and George Wockenfuss of St. Louis; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Saturday in the Chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier.

James K. Ecker, 80
WINCHESTER, Va. - James K. Ecker of Winchester died Thursday, June 3, 2004, in the Winchester Medical Center. He was 80.
Mr. Ecker was born in Baltimore, son of the late Raymond Edgar Ecker and Sarah Ford Ecker. He had, for some time, retired to the Denton, Md., area before moving to Virginia after his wife died.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
He had been a fire fighter with the Baltimore City Fire Department for 31 years and had worked for the Anne Arundel school board for eight years.
Mr. Ecker was a member of Local 734, Baltimore Fire Fighters Union, the Baltimore City Retired Fire Fighters Association and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Memorial Post 7937.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth C. Lawrence Ecker in 1990, and a son, Terry Lee Ecker.
He is survived by a daughter, Mary Frances Ecker of Baltimore.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Moore Funeral Home, PA, 12 S. Second St., Denton.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park near Easton, Md.
William C. 'Bill' Henry, 77
DOVER - William C. "Bill" Henry of Dover died Monday, June 7, 2004, in Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 77.
Mr. Henry was born in Bridgeport, Conn., son of the late James and Dorothy Cadman Henry.
He was a graduate of Brown University with a degree in engineering.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He was a resident of Delaware for more than 50 years, and served in various positions in the field of engineering. He served as the director of public works in Wilmington for 19 years; and served as the Sussex County and Kent County engineer for several years. He was currently employed as an engineer for the Delaware Division of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.
He enjoyed traveling, motorcycling and most especially, spending time with his family. He was a very devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be remembered for his love and caring, and his creative sense of humor.
Mr. Henry was a longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church, Dover, a past president of the Kent and Sussex Co. Chapter for the Del. Society for Professional Engineers, a member of the Water Pollution Control Federation, the American Waterworks Assoc., and the American Public Works Association.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Adams Henry, in 1974, and a daughter, Nancy Maher, in 1997.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jeanne Maynadier Henry; five daughters, Kathleen Turcotte of Florida, Karen Kennedy of Federalsburg, Md., Sandra Ploskon of Bear, Suzanne Monath of Georgetown and Ann Maher-Flood of Milton; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Christ Episcopal Church, State and Water streets, Dover.
Burial will be in the adjoining churchyard.

Joyce M. McKinnon, 64
GEORGETOWN - Joyce M. McKinnon of Georgetown died after a battle with cancer Monday, June 7, 2004, in Bayhealth Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 64.
Ms. McKinnon was born at home in Burrsville, daughter to the late William and Thomas Ferguson.
She was a cook at Milford Manor and was a dedicated caretaker to many people.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Clarence 'Buster' Ferguson in 1999.
She is survived by her fiancé, Charles W. Streacker Sr. of Georgetown; a daughter, Vicki Hornsby of Eden, Md.; a sister, Peggy Johnson of Essex, Md.; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 16 nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Price Funeral Home, 6 Dorman St., Harrington.
Burial will be in Burrsville Cemetery.
Clarence Edward 'Eddie' Ramsey Jr., 62
SMYRNA - Clarence Edward "Eddie" Ramsey Jr. of Smyrna died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in his home. He was 62.
Mr. Ramsey had worked at construction, and also for Asplundh Tree Service.
He enjoyed fixing electronic equipment and loved to play the guitar.
Mr. Ramsey also volunteered at the Sunday Breakfast Mission in Wilmington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy; and his stepfather, Harold Figgatt.
He is survived by his mother, Ruby Figgatt, with whom he lived; a son, Clarence Edward Ramsey III; a daughter, Gail Ramsey; two brothers, Wayne Ramsey and Jan Wade Ramsey, both of Smyrna; a sister, Linda Sue Scott, and her companion, Glenn Willoughby, both of Townsend; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Chapel at Gracelawn Memorial Park, North Du Pont Highway (U.S. 13) in Minquadale, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery.

Rita Knippschild Seaman, 64
FENWICK ISLAND - Rita Knippschild Seaman of West Fenwick Island died Sunday, June 6, 2004, in her home. She was 64.
Mrs. Seaman was born in Bremerhaven, Germany, daughter of Wilhelm and Sophia Knippschild. She lived in Florida before relocating to Delaware in 1987.
She received her associate of arts degree, majoring in languages and graduating with honors and initiated into the Phi Theta Kappa National Honor Fraternity.
She and her husband, Randy, established the seafood outlet in Fenwick Island in 1994. Later that same year she suffered a major stroke.
Mrs. Seaman loved the ocean and the bay, and lived life with a passion. She loved swimming, boating, surfing, skating, joking and laughing so wonderfully. She was determined in everything she did and never let anything get her down. Her faith in God and love for life taught us how precious life really is. She made our hearts sing.
She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Randy Warrington; two beloved sons and a daughter-in-law, John D. Jr. and Donna Seaman of Palm Bay, Fla. and Ricky D. Seaman of St. Petersburg, Fla.; a grandson, Shawn J. Seaman; a brother, Ralf Knippschild; and many wonderful friends worldwide.
Services were private.

Marvin G. Thomas, 40
FRANKFORD - Marvin G. Thomas of Frankford died Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in Atlantic General Hospital, Berlin, Md. He was 40.
Mr. Thomas was born May 17, 1964, in Lewes, son of Jessie L. Thomas of Frankford and the late Rosie L. Bell Thomas.
He was a construction worker for many area companies, retiring due to illness.
Mr. Thomas was a member of the Gospel Kingdom of God Church in Selbyville, where he served as a deacon. He loved God and he loved people.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of six years, Vicky D. Thomas; two sons, Jordan Thomas and Dominique Thomas, both of Lewes; a daughter, Kiara Thomas of Lewes; two stepsons, Brennon K. Williams and Tyrie J. Williams, both of Frankford; a stepdaughter, Latasha N. Williams of Millsboro; seven brothers, Lawyer Hicks and Rufus Thomas, both of Frankford, Barry Thomas of Lincoln, Clifton Bell of St. Louis, Raymond Thomas of Millsboro, Ronnie Thomas of Smyrna and U.S. Army Sgt. Ulysses Thomas, serving in Iraq; six sisters, Amanda Purnell and Dora B. Isler, both of Frankford, Beth L. Morris of Dagsboro, Lorraine Burton of Millsboro, Sandra Adams of Georgetown and Rosie Coleman of Wilmington; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

Eunice Thyedochia Walley, 82
STILL POND, Md. - Eunice Thyedochia Walley of Still Pond died Thursday, June 3, 2004, in the Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 82.
Mrs. Walley was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Still Pond, daughter of the late Lloyd and Pearl White.
She received her education in the Kent County public school system.
She was employed by the Campbell Soup Co. and Vita Foods Inc., and was a nurse's aide at Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital.
She loved young people and loved to talk.
Mrs. Walley was a member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church, now called New Christian Chapel of Love, the United Methodist Women and the Worship Committee, and was a lay speaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Walley.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, George Sr. and Inez Sarah White of Still Pond; a sister, Gloria Ringgold of Worton; a devoted friend and neighbor, Edna Gleaves; five nieces; and seven nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in the New Christian Chapel of Love, Big Worton, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in New Christian Chapel of Love Cemetery, Still Pond.
