Dorothy Ellen Hudson, 88
CLARKSVILLE - Dorothy Ellen Hudson of Clarksville died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, in her home. She was 88.
Mrs. Hudson was a homemaker.
She was a member of Ocean View Church of Christ, and a Sunday school teacher there for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Carrie Hudson; her stepfather, Ed Pepper; a son, Hal Leroy Hudson, in 1983; and her husband, Alvin W. Hudson, in January 2003.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Janet Hudson of Greenwood, Ind.; a brother, Gerald Wayne Pepper of Roxana; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Ocean View Church of Christ, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Millville Cemetery.

Robert H. Knotts Sr., 79
CHESTER, Md. - Robert H. Knotts Sr. of Chester died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at Kent-Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown. He was 79.
Mr. Knotts was born Feb. 17, 1924, in Caroline County, son of the late Harry Fisher Knotts and Caroline Hobbs Knotts.
He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Knotts was a bridge and roads inspector for the Maryland State Highway Administration, retiring in 1996.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth C. Knotts, on Aug. 17, 1991; and a brother, Harry Knotts.
He is survived by a son, Robert H. Knotts Jr. of Chester; a daughter, Carole Canada of Bowie; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Moore Funeral Home PA, 12 S. Second St., Denton, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Patricia A. Long, 64
MILFORD - Patricia A. Long of Milford died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 64.
Mrs. Long was born in Chester, Pa., daughter of the late Frances and Eugine Duncan Malloy. At the age of 3 months, her family relocated to Claymont.
She was an Avon representative for many years.
Mrs. Long was a member of First Baptist Church, Milford. She loved her Lord, and her family was an inspiration to others, always uplifting and encouraging throughout her illness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Albert Long.
She is survived by her husband of 45 years, Glenn A. Long; four daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Al Kennedy of Harrington, Violet and Danny Simmons of Milford, Donna and Doug Stamper of Thika, Kenya, and Ellen and John Kramlich of Milford; 10 grandchildren; two foster children, Tim Lindale and his wife, Sue, of Milford and Tracy Lindale of Dover; a sister, Mary Anne Healey of Camden; and a brother, James Malloy of Milford.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, Shawnee Road, Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.

Allen W. Muray, 63
MILLSBORO - Allen W. Murray of Millsboro died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 63.
Mr. Murray was born in Salisbury, Md., son of the late Vaughn C. and Eleanor Hollingsworth Murray.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Murray was the employment manager at NCR, Millsboro, for 10 years, following which he was the human-resources director for Intervet, Millsboro, retiring in May 2001 after 20 years of service.
He was an avid fan of NASCAR; his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt.
Mr. Murray was a former member of Millsboro Town Council and a former Sussex County constable.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, David Allen Murray, in 1967.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Ruth Ann Townsend Murray; a daughter and son-in-law, Angela M. and Brian Calloway of Millsboro; a brother, Charles Murray of Dagsboro; and a sister, Laura Baker of Salisbury.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Millsboro Cemetery.
Suzanne P. Ridenour, 54
SMYRNA - Suzanne P. Ridenour of Smyrna died Sunday, Feb. 16, 2003, at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. She was 54.
Mrs. Ridenour was born Feb. 5, 1949, in Florida.
She worked as a psychiatric attendant at the Delaware State Hospital, New Castle, for 17 years before retiring due to disability.
Mrs. Ridenour's favorite hobby was doing crafts.
She is survived by her mother-in-law, Janet Hurtt of Dover; three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Mark and Cindi Ridenour of Smyrna, Dennis Ridenour of Felton and Michael Ridenour of South Connellsville, Pa.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Diane N. Taunton, 55
DREXEL HILL, Pa. - Diane N. Taunton of Drexel Hill, formerly of Lewes, Del., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in her home. She was 55.
Ms. Taunton was born in Philadelphia.
She was raised in and a longtime resident of Upper Darby before moving to Delaware 10 years ago. She was a graduate of Upper Darby High School and of the Delaware County Community College Nursing Program.
As a registered nurse, Ms. Taunton was most recently employed by the Stockley Center, a residential special-needs facility near Georgetown, Del. She had previously worked at Delaware State Hospital, New Castle, Del. She returned to Drexel Hill to be with family during her illness.
She was a musician who played piano and the bagpipes. She also enjoyed ceramics.
Ms. Taunton was a member of Lewes Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary, and was formerly a member of the Washington Memorial Pipe Band.
She is survived by two sons, Lewis McCorkell of Upper Darby and Drew McCorkell of Drexel Hill; her father, Joe Taunton; two brothers, Gary Taunton and David Taunton; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Toppitzer Funeral Home in Arlington Cemetery, 2900 State Road, Drexel Hill, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be private.

James Elwood 'Philpots' Wright, 78
PONDTOWN, Md. - James Elwood "Philpots" Wright of Pondtown died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2003, at the Corsica Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Centreville. He was 78.
Mr. Wright worked as a mechanic for Amtrak and predecessor railroads for 38 years, retiring in 1984.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Wright, in 1993.
He is survived by his nephew, Gregory Wright of Dover, Del.; his niece, Eartha Arrington of New Castle, Del.; his great-niece, Lateebie Y. Wright of Dover; and several additional nieces and nephews.
Services will be at noon Monday at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be at a later date.

Patricia A. Bower, 58
MILFORD - Patricia A. Bower, of Milford, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2003, at home with her family. She was 58.
Ms. Bower was born Sept. 19, 1944, in Laurel, daughter of Gertrude Smith Hudson of Milford and the late Wansel I. Hudson.
She was employed for several years with Chick's in Harrington and then was a clerk with Food Lion in Milford until her illness.
Ms. Bower was a member of the Carlisle Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth L. and Lisa Brown, of Milford, a daughter and her fiancé, Carol Millman and Joe Lewis, of Harrington; two brothers and sisters-in-laws, Keith and Terri Hudson and George "Sonny" and Kay Hudson, all of Milford; and four grandchildren, Erin Brown, Christopher Brown, Steven Millman and Tyler Walls.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.
