Albert L. Owens, 67
FRANKFORD - Albert L. Owens, of Frankford, formerly of Adelphi, Md., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 67.
Mr. Owens was born in Crowley, W.Va.
He served with the U.S. Army Reserve.
Mr. Owens was a poultry farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Frances A. Owens; a son, William A. Owens; a daughter, Teresa M. Vetick; and five grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Melson Funeral Services on Thatcher Street in Frankford.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the chapel.
Burial will be in the Roxana Cemetery, Roxana.
A. Welton Russell, 82
FEDERALSBURG, Md. - A. Welton Russell, of Federalsburg, died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, in Genesis ElderCare, Seaford, Del. He was 82.
Mr. Russell was born Nov. 18, 1920, in Federalsburg, son of the late Amos and Viora Edith Waller Russell.
He was a graduate of Hurlock High School, Class of 1937.
He was a grain and dairy farmer and was retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 30 years of service.
Mr. Russell was a member of Cokesbury United Methodist Church, Cokesbury, where he served as treasurer, Sunday school teacher and superintendent.
He is survived by his wife of more than 55 years, Beatrice Shufelt Russell; a son, Dennis W. Russell of Seaford; a daughter, Janice R. Conaway of Seaford; three grandchildren, Marc Russell, Hollie Henderson and Adam Henderson; a brother, Ralph T. Russell of Elburn, Ill., and Florida; a sister, Isabel R. Todd of Seaford; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Frampton-Hawkins-Eskow Funeral Home, P.A., in Federalsburg.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, where friends also may call one hour earlier.
Burial will follow in Hill Crest Cemetery, Federalsburg.

Robert F. 'Bert' Ware Jr., 50
SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - Robert F. "Bert" Ware Jr., of Sudlersville, died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown. He was 50.
Mr. Ware was born July 31, 1952, in Richmond, Va., son of Anna Austin Roberts Ware of Sudlersville and the late Robert Faulconer Ware Sr., who died Sept. 8, 1994.
At the age of 4, he moved with his parents from a Ware family farm beside Ware's Wharf near Tappahannock, Va., to a Roberts family farm near Sudlersville.
Mr. Ware was a 1971 graduate of Queen Anne's County High School and attended Chowan College in Murfreesboro, N.C.
Mr. Ware enjoyed keeping up with all sports news, parks and recreation-sponsored trips and researching genealogy.
After returning to Sudlersville, he worked on the farm with his father until his father's retirement.
Mr. Ware was a longtime member of the Sudlersville Lions Club, where he served as president in 1987-88. He enjoyed being a greeter, Lion Tamer and Tail Twister and had just attended the club's 40th anniversary celebration on Feb. 1. He attended St. Andrew's Chapel in Sudlersville.
In addition to his mother he is survived by a sister, Arraminta Ware of Sudlersville; an uncle, Wilson Cary Ware, of Richmond; and an aunt, Martha G. Walmsley, of Chestertown.
Memorial services will be 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 1, 2003, in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Church Hill.
Burial will be private.

Robert F. Carpenter Jr., 85
MITCHELLVILLE, Md. - Robert F. Carpenter Jr., of Mitchellville, died Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, in Collington Episcopal Life Care, Mitchellville, Md. He was 85.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Remy Garcia Fong, 81
CLAYTON - Remy Garcia Fong, of Clayton, formerly of Oakland, Calif., died Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in her home. She was 81.
Mrs. Fong was born in the Philippines and immigrated to the United States in 1950.
She was self-employed as a storekeeper for many years.
Mrs. Fong had done volunteer work for the USO in the 1960s and enjoyed dancing and singing.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kong S. Fong, in 2000.
She is survived by a daughter, Paulita Timmons of Clayton; a granddaughter, Maria Payne of Clayton; two grandsons, Chris Lemire of Wilmington and Jeff Lemire of Newark; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
James Patrick 'Pat' O'Ferrall, 65
MARYDEL, Md. - James Patrick "Pat" O'Ferrall, of Marydel, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 65.
Mr. O'Ferrall was born Feb. 10, 1938, in Cambridge, Md., son of Elise O'Ferrall of Arizona and the late James O'Ferrall.
He attended school to the eighth grade in Trappe, Md. A voracious reader, he was self-educated through literature.
Mr. O'Ferrall was a mechanic, specifically working on trucks.
He hosted many bluegrass shows as master of ceremonies he was a great lover of bluegrass music.
He was a life member of the Eastern Shore Bluegrass Association. He was easily recognized by his trademark black derby hat, which he wore proudly.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a special friend, Beverly Clough of Marydel; a son, Shane O'Ferrall of Tennessee; a sister, Lois Baker of Trappe; a brother, Bill O'Ferrall of Texas; two grandchildren, Daly and Kerrie O'Ferrall of Tennessee; and three stepdaughters, Bonnie Clough of Barclay, Lori Clough of Wye Mills, and Penny Reel of Centreville.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, Md.
Burial will be private.

Gregory R. Parker, 51
GEORGETOWN - Gregory R. Parker, of Georgetown, died Thursday, Feb. 20, 2003, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 51.
Mr. Parker was born in Milford.
He worked with his father as a carpenter. Prior to that he worked for N.C.R. in Millsboro, Perdue Farms in Georgetown and was a custodian at an alcohol rehab center in Wilmington.
Mr. Parker was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Bill Elliott. He was also a Redskins fan, an Orioles fan and was very active in Alcoholics Anonymous for the past 15 years as a member and a sponsor.
He is survived by his mother, Eleanor Marvel Simkins, with whom he lived; his father and stepmother, Robert E. and Frances Parker of Millsboro; paternal grandmother, and step-grandfather, Pearl and Earnest Davis, of Millsboro; a brother and sister-in-law, Jeffery M. and Robin Parker, of Georgetown; a sister and brother-in-law, Pamela D. and Robert Jones, of Georgetown; a stepbrother, Donald Lee Hall, of Millsboro; an aunt and uncle, Edward and Evelyn Jones of Frankford; an uncle, Vaughn Parker of Georgetown; an aunt, Shirley Lingo, of Bradenton, Fla,; a nephew, Kyle Byram; and a niece, Megan Parker.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Robert Howell will officiate.
Burial will be in Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro.
Virginia W. 'Ginny' Pooler, 81
SMYRNA - Virginia W. "Ginny" Pooler of Smyrna died Friday, Feb. 21, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 81.
Mrs. Pooler was born April 26, 1921, in Stotesbury, W.Va., daughter of the late Pete and Lona McIntosh Woosley.
She was a cafeteria worker with Smyrna School Food Services for 16 years before retiring.
Mrs. Pooler enjoyed watching TV, doing puzzle books and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert F. Anderson; her second husband, Joseph W. Pooler Jr.; and a granddaughter, Kristen K. Anderson.
She is survived by two sons, Robert "Butch" Anderson of Chandler, Ariz., and Mick Anderson of Lafayette, Colo.; four daughters, Gail Mast, of Clayton, Debbie Hess, Ginny Mae Cummings and Jo Lynn Pooler, all of Smyrna; a brother, Herbert Woosley, of Little Rock, Ark.; a sister, Mildred Reichelt, of Smyrna; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday in Odd Fellows Cemetery, DuPont Highway, Smyrna.
