The Rev. Forrest K. Emerson Sr., 86
BARTLETT, Tenn., - The Rev. Forrest K. Emerson Sr., of Bartlett, died of heart failure Thursday, Dec. 28, 2000, in Methodist North Hospital. He was 86.
He was a minister.
Mr. Emerson was a member of Rotary Club and a scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dora Burke Emerson.
He is survived by a daughter, Phyllis J. Bodne, of Barlett; two sons, Forrest Kingsley Emerson Jr., of Hamden, Conn., and Gregory Ronald Emerson, of Ashford, Conn; a brother, Merlyn Emerson, of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be at a later date at in Willimantic, Conn. Arrangments by Bartlett Funeral Home Family Heritage Chapel.
Burial will be in Italy Hill, N.Y.
Instead of flowers, family suggests contributions to: Pierce Memorial Baptist Home, Brooklyn Conn.

Marjorie Hardy, 71
MILFORD - Marjorie Hardy of Milford died Monday, Jan. 8, 2001, in her home she was 71.
Mrs. Hardy was born in Schenectady, N.Y., daughter of the late Frank and Burdella Urbanek.
She was a homemaker.
She was a volunteer at the Thrift Shop of the Milford Senior Center.
Mrs. Hardy was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Milford.
She is survived by her husband, William T. Hardy; two daughters, Linda Jean Bourey, of Dover, and Laura Lee Vanvalkenburgh, of Tampa, Fla.; a sister, Sandra Lee Massey, of Schenectady; three granddaughters; and one great-grandson.
Service and Burial will be private.

John W. Irwin, 67
SEAFORD - John W. Irwin, of Seaford, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 67.
Mr. Irwin served 20 years with the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1970 as a staff sergeant.
After his military career, he was employed with the State of Delaware for 12 years as a correction officer in Smyrna and Dover, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Irwin enjoyed fishing in his spare time and has received two fishing citations.
He was preceded in death by a son, John E. Irwin, in 1980.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Edris A. Irwin, two sons; Brian Keith Irwin, of Bridgeport, W.Va., and Scot M. Irwin, of Dover; two stepsons, Sam Allen, of Jacksonville, N.C., and Charles Allen, of Kenansville, N.C.; two daughters; Amber Comegys, of Davie, Fla., and Linda Bice, of Crossville, Tenn.; two sisters, Marjorie Burger, of East Freedom, Pa., and Johanna Carper, of Port Matilda, Pa.; 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be with full military honors in the Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Margaret Ann Kirby, 85
DAGSBORO - Margaret Ann Kirby, of Dagsboro, died Saturday, Jan. 6, 2001, in Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 85.
Mrs. Kirby was born in Pikesville, N.C., the daughter of the late Jack and Mollie Forehand.
She worked in the kitchen of the Stockley Center in Georgetown for 15 years, retiring in 1980.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Lee Kirby, in 1987.
She is survived by a special son, Steven Millman; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior to service. The Rev. Robert Hudson will officiate.
Burial will be in Dagsboro Redmen's Memorial Cemetery, Dagsboro.

Lawrence B. 'Larry' Krewson, 63
SEAFORD - Lawrence B. "Larry" Krewson, of Seaford, died of heart failure Sunday, Jan. 7, 2000, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital. He was 63
Mr. Krewson was a retired industrial electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers in Newark, N.J.
He is survived by three daughters, Kelly Miles, of Centerville, Md., Christine E. McNaulty, of Baton Rouge, La, and Debra Ann Bruner, of Seaford; a sister, Emily Richardson, of Upland, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Shannon McNaulty, Madison McNaulty and Brittany Byington.
Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Cranston Funeral Home, 300 Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to: The Nanticoke Memorial Hospital Building Fund, 901 Middleford Rd., Seaford, DE 19973.

Edith Wilson McMichael, 85
SARASOTA, Fla. - Edith Wilson McMichael, of Sarasota, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001. She was 85.
Mrs. McMichael was born Feb. 1, 1915, in Dover, Del., the daughter of Elizabeth Beers Wilson and Ralph C. Wilson.
She attended Brantwood Hall in Bronxville, N.Y., and graduated from Wilmington Conference Academy in Dover, the forerunner of Wesley College, in 1936.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John C. McMichael, of Sarasota; a brother, Henry I.B. Wilson, of Rehoboth Beach, and a daughter, Deborah Hart Shank Bennett
She is survived by a daughter, Constance Shank Wahlig, of Greenville; a son, Luther D. Shank III, of Odessa, three stepchildren, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Memorial service was held Jan. 5, 2001, in Bay Village of Sarasota, her residence of 25 years.
Service will also be conducted in Delaware at the convenience of the family.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory to a charity of your choice.

Gertrude M. Patterson, 91
MILFORD - Gertrude M. Patterson, of Milford, died Sunday, Jan. 07, 2001, in her home. She was 91.
Mrs. Patterson was employed for 49 years in the shipping department for L.D. Caulk Company, Milford, retiring in 1974.
She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church, Milford, and the AARP.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, John Malarkey, in 1932, a second husband, Thomas H. Patterson, in 1969, and a son, John E. Malarkey, in 1988.
She is survived by a sister, Pearl M. Cooper, of Milford, and a daughter-in-law, Betty Jean Malarkey, of Milford.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Ruth Coen Hurley, 79
REHOBOTH BEACH - Ruth Coen Hurley of Rehoboth Beach died Thursday, April 3, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 79.
Mrs. Hurley was born in Orange, N.J, and resided in Rehoboth Beach and Milford since 1951.
She graduated from Orange High School in 1941, followed by Drake Secretarial College and the Academy of Arts, both in New Jersey. She received a degree in architectural engineering from Delaware Technical & Community College in Georgetown in 1973.
Mrs. Hurley had a pilot's license and flew small planes. She was also a marksman with the Civil Air Patrol Squadron and a Restricted Radio Telephone Operator. She worked in Rehoboth Beach at the Chamber of Commerce, Anderson-Stokes, Inc. and the Stuart Kingston Galleries. She was also the building inspector for the City of Rehoboth Beach.
She was loved by many for her caring and gentle manner. She loved to read, draw and paint, often at the Rehoboth Art League. She was a wife and mother.
Mrs. Hurley belonged to St. Edmond's Catholic Church and volunteered many services through the years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, Edward J. Hurley.
She is survived by a daughter, Peggi Hurley of Rehoboth Beach; four sons, Michael Hurley of Clarksville, Stephen Hurley of Rehoboth Beach, James Hurley of Plantation, Fla., and John Hurley of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren and a great-granddaughter, and more kids than can be named from Rehoboth Beach, especially the Schoolvue neighborhood, who thought of her as "mom."
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Parsell Funeral Home & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. Edmond's Catholic Church, King Charles and Laurel streets, Rehoboth Beach.
Burial will follow in Delaware Veterans Cemetery South, Millsboro.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, 600 N. Du Pont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

James 'Jim' Rohlman, 67
MILTON - James "Jim" Rohlman of Milton died Wednesday, April 2, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 67.
Mr. Rohlman was born in Jasper, Ind., son of the late Gerhard and Mary Rohlman. He was raised in Indianapolis.
At a young age, he joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1952 to 1958, including fighting in the Korean War until 1953.
Mr. Rohlman was retired from work as a truck driver.
He moved to Delaware in 1970, where he married and had 2 children. He loved to go fishing and bowling and just being outdoors. He will be greatly missed by his children.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his female companion of two years, Dolly Jenkins; and an older brother, Richard Rohlman.
He is survived by a son, William J. Rohlman of Millsboro; a daughter, Tamara N. Rohlman of Milton, who cared for him in his last few months; a grandson, Dyllon J. Norwood of Milton, who loved his "Pop Pop Jim" dearly; two sisters, Mary Ella Holobinko of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Pattie Tutton of Pinetop, Ariz.; and two brothers, Harry Rohlman of Mooresville, Ind., and Larry Rohlman of Indiana.
Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, Millsboro.

Leslie Matthew Minus, 88
PHILADELPHIA - Leslie Matthew Minus of Philadelphia died after a long illness Thursday, March 29, 2001, in Philadelphia. He was 88.
Mr. Minus was born April 12, 1912, in Marydel, Del., son of Elizabeth Wilkerson Minus and Wyatt Minus.
He is survived by a son, Robert Minus of Philadelphia; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at noon Saturday at Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Marydel, where friends may call one hour prior to the ceremony. The Rev. Homer Minus will officiate.
Burial will be in Parker Chapel Cemetery.

Jean M. Behen, 71
SHILLINGTON, Pa. - Jean M. Behen of Shillington died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in ManorCare Health Services Inc., West Reading, where she had resided since March 30. She was 71.
Mrs. Behen was born in Ardmore, Montgomery County, daughter of the late Owen and Sophie (McCusker) Kelly.
She was a 1948 graduate of Radnor High School and attended Pierce Business College, Philadelphia.
She was employed as a secretary by Platt, Youngman & Co., Philadelphia, and was last employed as a secretary by International Container Corp., Reading, until her retirement.
Mrs. Behen was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington.
She is survived by her husband, John E. Behen Jr.; two sons, John E. Behen III of Tampa, Fla., and Owen J. Behen of Cherry Hill, N.J.; a daughter, Nina M. (Behen) Heppe of Villanova, Delaware County; five brothers, Joseph R. Kelly of West Chester, Francis E. Kelly of Mendenhall, Chester County, Richard J. Kelly of Bryn Mawr, Montgomery County, Kent J. Kelly of Monterey, Calif., and Federal Judge Robert F Kelly of Villanova; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. John Baptist de la Salle Church.
Burial will be at approximately 1 p.m. Saturday in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover, Del.

Ethel M. Blomquist, 87
SEWELL, N.J. - Ethel M. Blomquist of Sewell, formerly of Newark, Del., died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Sewell. She was 87.
Mrs. Blomquist was a homemaker.
She was a member of Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, Newark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Henry A. Blomquist, in 1954.
She is survived by two sons, Dr. Roy H. Blomquist of Wilmington, Del., and Glen R. Blomquist of North East, Md.; four daughters, Marie E. Sweeney of Sewell, Louise E. Eastburn of Dover, Del., Elaine I. McDowell of Lewes, Del., and Linda Blakeman of LaCenter, Wash.; a brother, John Mason of Long Island, N.Y.; two sisters, Marge Ritz of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Irene Schmeusser of Wilmington; 22 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren,
A service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley Road, Newark.
Burial will be in Silver Brook, Wilmington.

Vaughn A. Carey, 91
PITTSVILLE, Md. - Vaughn A. Carey of Pittsville died Wednesday, April 4, 2001, in Bayhealth-Milford (Del.) Memorial Hospital. He was 91.
Mr. Carey was born in Pittsville, son of the late Joseph S. and Laura Jones Carey.
He was a graduate of Pittsville High School and Goldey-Beacom College, Wilmington, Del.
He and his wife were owners and operators of the "Windy Acres" farm on Line Road near Pittsville until their retirement approximately six years ago.
A lifelong, active member of Line United Methodist Church, he served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent, and served on the board of trustees. He also served as the manager of the Line Church Cemetery, and the church congregation recently recognized his more than 50 years of service in that capacity. An active member of the Bi-State Ruritans, he served as chaplain of that group. He was a charter member of the Carey/Cary Family organization, a member of the Maryland Farm Bureau, and an enthusiastic participant, until his recent hospitalization, in local fox hunts.
He is survived by his wife of more than 70 years, Doris Dykes Carey; a son and daughter-in-law, E. Niel and Helen S. Carey of Ellicott City; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan C. and Dan Masters of Milford; a sister, Ina Carey Hastings of Pine Bluff Village, Salisbury; two granddaughters and grandsons-in-law, Laura C. and Kevin McDonald of Dublin, Ohio, and Rebecca C. and Lt. Cmdr. Rob Webb of Beaufort, S.C.; a grandson, Andrew Wright and his fiancee, Yvonne Klemets of Devon, Pa.; six great-grandchildren, Carey, Kathryn and Christopher McDonald, and Aidan, Noah and Zachary Webb.
A service will be held at noon Saturday at Line United Methodist Church, Line Road, (Del. 54), nine miles east of Delmar, Del., where friends may call one hour prior to the ceremony. The Revs. Jay Bunting, Earls Baker and Carolyn Bunting will officiate.
Burial will be in Line Church Cemetery.

Charles H. 'Pop' Cheezum, 90
CORDOVA, Md. - Charles H. "Pop" Cheezum of Cordova died of lung disease Wednesday, April 4, 2001, at Genesis ElderCare-The Pines, Easton. He was 90.
Mr. Cheezum was born May 23, 1910, in Caroline County, son of the late William Walton and Wilhelmina Fisher Cheezum.
He married the former Dorothy E. Grenadier.
He made his home in Cordova for 52 years.
A master carpenter, he worked for companies such as Paul Day, Hershey Allen Sr., Paul Henson and Eley Lumber Co., from which he retired in 1975.
Mr. Cheezum was a member of the Easton Church of the Nazarene and the Cordova Volunteer Fire Co.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife July 10, 1997; six brothers; and two sisters.
He is survived by five children, Eddie Cheezum of Hillsboro, Evelyn O. Kemp of Cordova, Jack W. Cheezum of Ridgely, Paul W. Cheezum of Greensboro, and Joann M. Clough of Easton; two brothers, Robert Cheezum of Easton and Eugene Cheezum of Preston; 13 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where friends may also call one hour prior to the ceremony.
Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Hillsboro.

Emma S. Edwards, 92
SMYRNA - Emma S. Edwards of Smyrna, formerly of Mifflinville, Pa., died Tuesday, April 3, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 92.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis "Bud" Edwards Jr.; and a son, Herbert G. Edwards.
She is survived by seven granddaughters, Sue Albence of New Castle, June Grantham of Millsboro, Libby Lucas of Dover, Emma DeKler of Colorado Springs, Colo., Irene Pidcock of Newark, Rita Taylor of Georgetown, and Margaret Casson of New Castle; 10 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Kelchner-McMichael Funeral Home Inc., Berwick, Pa., where friends may call one hour prior to the ceremony.
Burial will be in Mifflinville Cemetery.
