William Richard Lucas, 78
LEWES - William Richard Lucas of Lewes died of cancer Saturday, March 3, 2001, in his home. He was 78.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Ann Carroll Lucas; a daughter, Carol Drevo of Mount Airy, Md.; two sons, William Lucas Jr. of Springfield, Va., and Michael Lucas of Mount Airy; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 1-3 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Edmond's Catholic Church, King Charles and Laurel streets, Rehoboth Beach, with the Rev. Raymond Forester officiating.
Burial will be 1 p.m. Friday in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Md.

Jacqueline C. McQuaide, 64
REHOBOTH BEACH - Jacqueline C. McQuaide of Rehoboth Beach died of cancer Sunday, March 4, 2001, in her home. She was 64.
Mrs. McQuaide was born in Sunbury, Pa.
She was employed as a hostess at the Lamp Post Restaurant in Rehoboth Beach prior to her illness.
Mrs. McQuaide enjoyed working out at the Midway Fitness Center, and also enjoyed the beach and reading.
She is survived by her husband of 37 years, Edward J. McQuaide of Rehoboth Beach; three sons and two daughters, Keith A. McQuaide of Pittsburgh, Pamela Woodard of Jacksonville, Fla., Edward H. McQuaide and Colleen H. Regan, both of Blackwood, N.J., and Daniel J. McQuaide of Gloucester, N.J.; a brother, Jerry Michaels of Liverpool, Pa.; a sister, Deborah Prostko of Coraopolis, Pa.; two granddaughters and a grandson, Megan A. McQuaide of Gloucester, Joshua McQuaide of Pitman, N.J., and Shannon Woodard of Jacksonville; and a great-granddaughter, Emily Woodard of Jacksonville.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Raymond Forester officiating.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery South, Georgetown.

Durita Elizabeth 'Ressie' Pitts, 37
CHESTER, Pa. - Durita Elizabeth "Ressie" Pitts of Chester died Friday, March 2, 2001, in Crozer Chester Medical Center, Chester. She was 37.
Ms. Pitts was born July 28, 1963, in Lewes, Del., the daughter of Madeline Pitts and Isaac Tingle.
She received her education in Woodrow Wilson High School in Camden, N.J.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by three children, Pastina Pitts, Markisha Pitts and Dar Juan Pitts, all of Selbyville, Del; two brothers, Warner Pitts and Isaac Pitts, both of Millsboro, Del; five sisters, Sherry Davenport of Baltimore, Sarah Pitts and Tomeka Pitts, both of Laurel, Del., Jalissa Massey of Berlin, Md., and Sky Tingle of Laurel; grandparents, Norman and Madeline Rayfield; stepfather, James Johnson of Selbyville; 11 nieces and nephews; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Holiness Church, Frankford, Del.
Burial will be in Bishopville Cemetery, Bishopville, Md.

Ruth H. Records, 89
GREENWOOD - Ruth H. Records of Greenwood died of natural causes Friday, March 2, 2001, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She was 89.
Mrs. Records was a sewing machine operator at Greenwood Manufacturing in Bridgeville, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the Union United Methodist Church in Bridgeville and the Greenwood Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis C. Records, in 1972; a daughter, Helen Abbott, in 1995; and a grandson, Frank Jones, in 1992.
She is survived by a son, Donald Records of Greenwood; two daughters, Rhoda Ellingsworth and Barbara Williams, both of Greenwood; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Hardesty Funeral Home, 202 Laws St., Bridgeville.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Bridgeville Cemetery.
Edith Holloway Smith, 90
MILFORD - Edith Holloway Smith of Milford died of natural causes Saturday, March 1, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She was 90.
Mrs. Smith graduated from the Illman School of Education of the University of Pennsylvania, in Philadelphia.
She was a teacher in New Jersey for 13 years. After her move to Delaware, she continued as a teacher for three years in Frederica, and then, with the Milford School District for another 19 years, retiring June 8, 1971.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Saxton United Methodist Church in Bowers Beach, and a Girl Scout leader of Troop 44 in New Jersey.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles H. Smith, in 1990.
Service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be noon Friday in Bordentown Cemetery, Bordentown, N.J.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Saxton United Methodist Church Remodeling Fund, 3419 Main St., Bowers Beach, DE 19946.
Dale Turner, 64
BRIDGEVILLE - Dale Turner of Bridgeville died peacefully Friday, March 2, 2001, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 64.
Mr. Turner was born April 6, 1936, in Millsboro, the son of Charles Turner of Seaford and the late Edith Turner.
He was educated through the Seaford School District.
Mr. Turner was a truck driver, retiring after more than 40 years.
Mr. Turner loved going fishing, car racing, gardening and working on cars. He was a free-hearted man, dedicated father, husband and grandfather. Most of all, he loved the Lord, and would often testify to others about how good the Lord is. He had a caring personality and made friends with all whom he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Denise Hayward.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of more than 30 years, Vivian Turner of Bridgeville; two daughters, Julia Wheeler of Bridgeville and Shelita Hughes of Wilmington; four sons, Chauncey Turner of Wilmington, Edward Knowles and Joseph Knowles, both of Seaford, and Dale Turner Jr. of Bridgeville; three sisters, Mary Ann Planter of New Jersey, Betty Turner of Milford and Gertrude Robinson of Seaford; two brothers, Daniel Turner of Seaford and Joseph Morris of Dover; two sons-in-law, Carlett Wheeler of Bridgeville and Tim Hughes of Wilmington; three daughters-in-law, Janet Knowles and Yvette Knowles, both of Seaford, and Marilyn Turner of Wilmington; three sisters-in-law, Drucilla Allen of Seaford, Cora Snelling of Bridgeville and Rosie Lee Bynes of Millsboro; three brothers-in-law, Richard Hughes of Florida, Henry Knowles of Seaford and John Knowles of Bridgeville; and a host of grandchildren, whom he loved dearly, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 1st Street, Bridgeville, where friends may call two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in Middleford Cemetery, Middleford, near Seaford.

Christopher David Wisneski, 8
FELTON - Christopher David Wisneski of Felton died Saturday, March 3, 2001, in A.I. duPont Hospital for Children, Wilmington. He was 8.
Christopher was a second-grade student at the Kent County Community School.
He loved reading and watching Dr. Seuss, and his favorite characters were Christopher Robin and Tigger from "Winnie the Pooh." Christopher also liked listening to music and talking on the phone. When the weather was nice, Christopher enjoyed being outdoors, and he liked to go swimming. He will be remembered as being a special little boy who touched hearts everywhere he went and saw good in everything. He had a strong twin bond with his brother that only twins could share.
Christopher was extremely close to his Pop-Pop and Mom-Mom and will be sadly missed by his family.
He is survived his parents, David C. and Deanna L. Wisneski of Felton; his twin brother, Brian D. Wisneski of Felton; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, Harrington.
Service will be 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. The Rev. Tim Isley will officiate.
Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
Bertie Bryan Pepper, 97
MILTON - Bertie Bryan Pepper of Milton died Saturday, March 1, 2003, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 97.
Mrs. Pepper was born in Angola, daughter of the late Howard and Viola Moore Bryan.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Pepper enjoyed her garden and watching her flowers bloom in the spring. She always looked forward to visits from her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Kline Gooden Pepper; a sister, Florence Travers; two brothers, George Bryan and Ransford Bryan; and a son-in-law, Joseph R. Brown.
She is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Winfred and Eugene Pierce of Ellicott City, Md., Elizabeth and George Mallet-Prevot of Newark, Patricia Brown of Milton and Mary Ellen and Ralph V. Knotts of Magnolia; a son and daughter-in-law, Ransford Bryan and Ruth Pepper of Lewes; a sister, Beulah Reed of Milford; a sister-in-law, Geneva Pepper Morris of Maple Grove, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be noon today in Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Coolspring Presbyterian Church, Coolspring.
