Thelma Florence Shahan, 83
DOVER - Thelma Florence Shahan of Dover died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, in her home. She was 83.
Mrs. Shahan was born Jan. 1, 1920, in Dover, daughter of the late John and Florence (Bennett) Moore.
She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School, class of 1941.
Mrs. Shahan had worked at W.T. Grant's, and McCroys, formerly of downtown Dover. and later enjoyed life as a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Joshua V. Shahan, on April 16, 2000.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Joseph and Kathleen Shahan, with whom she lived, of Dover, and Leonard and Dee Shahan of Magnolia; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Diana and Raymond Thomas of Camden, Sharon and Skylar Barlow of Claymont and Beverly Brown of Harrington; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
E. Virginia Thistlewood, 81
DOVER - E. Virginia Thistlewood of Dover died of complications of cancer Wednesday, March 5, 2003, in Courtland Manor Nursing Home, Dover. She was 81.
Mrs. Thistlewood was born Sept. 11, 1921, in Easton, Md., daughter of the late John Edward and Stella Greenwood Harrison.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. Kenneth Thistlewood Sr., Jan. 17, 1998; and a brother, Kenneth Harrison.
She is survived by a daughter, Phyllis A. North, and a son and daughter-in-law, James K. Thistlewood Jr. and Sandi Thistlewood, all of Dover; two sisters, Frances McClain of Denton, Md., and Jean Wessells of Greenwood; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton.

Eleanor M. Warren, 76
MILLSBORO - Eleanor M. Warren of Millsboro died Thursday, March 6, 2003, in the Chancellor Care Center, Delmar. She was 76.
Ms. Warren was born in Dagsboro, daughter of the late Armel and Mildred Cobb West.
She is survived by her son, Gary of Delaware.
Friends may call from noon to 12:45 p.m. Monday in the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Millsboro Cemetery, State Street, Millsboro. The Rev. Dr. James C. Van Der Wall will officiate.
Mary Ann Zimmerman, 78
SEAFORD - Mary Ann Zimmerman of Seaford died of heart failure Saturday, March 1, 2003, in Methodist Manor House, Seaford. She was 78.
Miss Zimmerman was born in Mount Vernon, Md., daughter of the late Rev. August Frederick and Helen Elizabeth Brown Zimmerman.
She was a bookkeeper.
Miss Zimmerman was a member of St John's United Methodist Church, Seaford, and a member of the United Methodist women at the church.
She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Howard R. and Janet Zimmerman of Gulf Shores, Ala.; two sisters, Isabelle Z. Martin of Gaithersburg, Md., and Barbara Cressman of Titusville, Pa.; an aunt, Ruth Brown of Denton, Md.; and nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and King streets, Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Dr. Barry Cressman will officiate.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Catherine S. Allen, 74
DOVER - Catherine S. Allen of Dover died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in Silverlake Nursing Center, Dover. She was 74.
Mrs. Allen was born May 30, 1926, in Dover, and raise by her aunt, Lyda Collins of Dover.
In her earlier years, she worked for various area nursing homes, the latest being Courtland Manor in Dover.
She loved ceramics and crocheting.
Mrs. Allen was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Camden.
She is preceded in death by two sons, Larry E. Bodine and John "Jackie" Bodine Jr., a sister, Mary Truitt, and a brother, William Truitt.
She is survived by her husband, William Allen of Dover; three sons, Kenneth Bodine of Dover, Steven Bodine of Rising Sun, and Gary Bodine of Camden/Wyoming; three daughters, Deloris Dill of Camden/Wyoming, Sandra Morris of Hartly, and Roxanne Melvin of Camden/Wyoming; two nieces, Kathy Scleers and Becky Hodge, both of Dover; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and a special friend, Thomas Plait.
Remembrance service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Southside Baptist Church in Camden, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Pastor Ronald Secrest will be officiating.
Burial will be in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown.
Marjorie Remley Ashworth, 75
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Marjorie Remley Ashworth of Sacramento, and formerly of Delaware, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, in Sacramento. She was 75.
Mrs. Ashworth was born Aug. 8, 1925, in Cheswold, Del., the daughter of the late Elizabeth Scarborough Remley and Norris Lee Remley.
She was a 1942 graduate and valedictorian of Dover High School. She continued her studies and graduated from the University of Delaware with a B.A. in chemistry and worked as a research chemist for Sun Oil Co. prior to raising a family.
She was a sports enthusiast, a bicyclist, a runner, and a champion bowler. She was also an avid and expert bridge player from the time she was young.
Mrs. Ashworth was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister and a devoted friend. She will be sadly missed by all that knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Robert W. Ashworth of Sacramento; three children, Robert Ashworth Jr. of Sacramento, Susan Ashworth of Philadelphia, and Richard Ashworth and his wife, Joanne of Altadena; and two grandchildren, Adrienne and Brendon of Altadena.
Service will be noon Saturday at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford St. in Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Cheswold.

Harrington M. Bell Jr., 92
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Harrington M. Bell Jr. of Chestertown died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital. He was 92.
Mr. Bell was born March 23, 1908, in Seaford, the son of the late Harrington M. and Abbye Hornsby Bell.
He was raised on his fathers three-masted schooner, sailing to Africa.
Mr. Bell was a 1932 graduate of the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
He worked with DuPont in Wilmington until 1970, when he retired. After first retiring to Rehoboth Beach, he and his wife moved to Chestertown.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Estelle Watts Bell; two sons, Harrington M. Bell III of Havertown, Pa., and Dr. John Watts Bell of Pasco, Wash., along with their respective families.
Service will be held privately.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Kent County, P.O. Box 352, Chestertown, MD 21620.

Mable Lee Cottman, 68
STOCKTON, MD. - Mable Lee Cottman of Stockton died Monday, March 5, 2001, in Snow Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 68.
Mrs. Cottman was born May 4, 1932, the daughter of the late Aaron and Bernice Jacobs in Stockton.
She received her education in the public schools in Worcester County.
She resided in Bronx, N.Y., for 45 years.
Mrs. Cottman attended St. Paul UM Church until her health began to fail.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Cottman
She is survived by a sister, Laura Adams of Bronx; a brother, Aaron Jacobs of Stockton; a step-daughter, Peggy Johnson of Calif.; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Jacobs of Stockton and 14 nieces and nephews, all of New Jersey and New York.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Shiloh UM Church, Johnson Neck, Pocomoke City, where friends may call two hours prior to service.
Burial will be in St. Paul UM Church Cemetery, Stockton.
