Kitty Harrison, 83
DOVER - Kitty Harrison of Dover died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in the Bayhealth/Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 83.
Mrs. Harrison was born in New York, N.Y., the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Gershon) Robinson.
A dedicated wife and mother, she had lived in North Kingstown, R.I., where she had worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Hamilton Webb Co. and later with Earnshaws, both of North Kingstown.
In 1990, she had moved with her late husband, Samuel, to Dover, where she was a member of the Congregation Beth Sholom. She was a past Worthy Grand Matron of the Eastern Star for the state of Rhode Island.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Bruce, in 1980.
She is survived by a son, Gary Harrison of Dover; a daughter, Sheila Summerfield of Dover, 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Home, 1175 S. State St. Dover.
Burial will be in Sharon Hill Memorial Park Dover. Rabbi Moshe Goldblum will officiate.
Shiva will be observed Friday evening starting at 7 p.m. at the Summerfield Residence, 2308 Seeneytown Road, Dover.

Oliver K. 'Jimmy' Hyler, 69
MAGNOLIA - Oliver K. "Jimmy" Hyler of Magnolia died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 69.
Mr. Hyler was born in Bowers Beach.
He graduated in 1950 from Caesar Rodney High School.
Mr. Hyler was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
He was a line construction foreman for the Diamond State Telephone Co. for 35 years, retiring in 1987.
Mr. Hyler enjoyed collecting model cars, a hobby he began after his retirement. He also enjoyed woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his father, Richard Hyler, in 1935; his step-farther Joseph Haley in 1983; and his mother, Dorothy Boone Haley, in January 2001.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Bernice V. Hyler; a son, J. Mark Hyler of Magnolia; two daughters, Debra L. Moore of Magnolia and Sharon Ann Burris of Middletown; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave. in Milford, where friends may call after two hours prior to service.
Burial will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Albert Samuel Kerns, 84
MAPLE SHADE, N.J. - Albert Samuel Kerns of Maple Shade died of natural causes Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in West Jersey Hospital in Maple Shade. He was 84.
Mr. Kerns was born June 10, 1916, in Wilmington, the son of the late Floyd Kerns and Lucille Dockety and grandson of the late James Albert and Clara Green Dockety.
During 1978, he retired from the city of Philadelphia as a construction inspector where he worked for 25 years on city building projects. Formerly, he worked for DuPont Chemical and the Coca-Cola Co., in Wilmington.
From 1935 to 1939, he served in the U.S. Army, stationed in San Francisco and Panama.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Marie (Hamilton) Kerns of Maple Shade; a son, James A. Kerns of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and three grandchildren, Matthew V. Kerns, Emily F. Kerns, and Brian J. Kerns, all of Wiles-Barre.
Graveside service will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday in White's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Highway 1, Milton.
Robert Arnold King, 55
DOVER - Robert Arnold King of Dover died of leukemia Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in his home. He was 55.
Mr. King was born in Dover, the son of Irene King of Dover and the late William King
He drove a truck for many years, and had also worked for the DuPont Co. in Seaford.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wilmer and Daisy Patterson of Dover and Blanch and Bradley King of Camden.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Bobbie Jo King of Dover; two grandchildren, April and Brandon King of Dover; and two brothers, Gordon King of Dover and Nicholas King of Philadelphia.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 East Lebanon Road in Dover, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.
George W. Knotts, 78
DOVER - George W. Knotts of Dover died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in his home. He was 78.
Mr. Knotts was born Nov. 1, 1922, in Newark, the son of the late Walter B. and Clara Rawe Knotts.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
He worked as a mechanic for Kent County Motors in Dover for 40 years before retiring in 1986.
Mr. Knotts had been a member of AARP Chapter 721 and a volunteer at the Delaware Agriculture Museum and the Blood Bank of Delaware.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Brittingham in 1994.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Alice "Betty" Eichholz Knotts; a son and daughter-in-law„ George Davy "Dave" Knotts and A. Jean Knotts of Clayton,; five brothers, William R. Knotts of Dover, James C. and Frank T., both of Smyrna, and Ernest C. and Ralph V. Knotts, both of Magnolia,; a sister, Anna K. Strimel of Cheswold.; two grandchildren, George Edward "Eddie" Knotts of Newark and Jeanne Marie Harkleroad and her husband, Robert W. Harkleroad Jr. of Colbert, Wash.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna.
Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

Elizabeth Nuttle, 77
HADDONFIELD, N.J. - Elizabeth Nuttle of Haddonfield died Monday, March 5, 2001, in West Jersey Hospital, Voorhees. She was 77.
Mrs. Nuttle graduated from Baldwin High School and Organtz Junior College.
Returning from Guam in 1947, where her husband served as head of the Naval Bank, they settled in Haddonfield.
Mrs. Nuttle was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. For many years she was active in local volunteer organizations. Her great charity was her gentle, kind generosity in her community where she was fondly known as "Aunt Betty" to neighborhood children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry J. Nuttle, on April 15, 1979.
She is survived by a son, Lunt Nuttle of Ithaca, N.Y.; a sister, Ann Campbell of Wilmington; and two grandchildren, Molly and Christopher Nuttle.
Service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at the Main Funeral Home, 8 West Kings Highway, Haddonfield.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Concord Cemetery near Denton, Md.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Mrs. Nuttle.

Frank R. Ortolani, 77
LEWES - Frank R. Ortolani of Lewes died Sunday, March 4, 2001, in Lewes Convalescent Center, Lewes. He was 77.
Mr. Ortolani was born in Spring City, Pa., the son of Camillo and Vitaliana Ortolani.
He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Austria.
Mr. Ortolani graduated from Penn State with a B.S. and Chemical Engineering degrees and from George Washington University School of Law.
Mr. Ortolani worked for the DuPont Co. in their legal department and retired after 24 years.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah; two sons and daughters-in-laws, Frank Jr. and Eileen and Mark T. and Theresa; two daughters, Melinda and her husband, Robert and Nancy C. and eight grandchildren.
Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m. Westminster Presbyterian Church, Laurel St, and King Charles Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Georgetown.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, Southern Division, Georgetown Professional Park, Suite 107, Georgetown, DE 19947 or Westminster Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund.
