Elsie R. Loose, 96
SMYRNA - Elsie R. Loose of Smyrna died Tuesday, March 6, 2001, in the Harbor Health Care Center, Lewes. She was 96.
Mrs. Loose was born July 10, 1904, in Smyrna, the daughter of the late Levi A. and Ella Jackson Ransom.
She worked as a salesperson in the Smyrna Dress Shop for several years before retirement.
Mrs. Loose was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion's David C. Harrison Post 14, Smyrna.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ollie F. Loose, in 1997; a daughter, Joan; two sisters, Rachel and Ella; and a brother, Floyd.
She is survived by a son-in-law, Kenneth Boyar; a granddaughter, Thea Millen; and a great-granddaughter, Sierra Gilboe.
A service and burial were held Thursday in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.

Delphine Reed, 71
LINCOLN - Delphine Reed of Lincoln died of heart failure Monday, March 5, 2001, in her home. She was 71.
Ms. Reed was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Accomac, Va.
She was a homemaker.
Ms. Reed was a member of Cathedral of Love Church, Lincoln, where she was mother of the church.
She is survived by two sons, Ralph Reed Sr. of Seaford and Randolph Reed of Lincoln; five daughters, Delores Reed of Ellendale, Lena Boyd of Greenwood, Teresa Collick and Pauline Burles, both of Seaford, and Adaline Diaz of Greenwood; two brothers, Clifton Butts of Oak Orchard and Edward Butts of Camden, N.J.; five sisters, Darla Spellman of Dagsboro, Lillian Elizabeth Massey of Wildwood, N.J., Cathrine Butts of Delmar, Lillie Mae of Wildwood and Magaline Hall of Dagsboro; three brothers-in-law, Bill Reed of Ellendale, James Reed of Greenwood and Sony Reed of Lakewood, N.J.; two sisters-in-law, Francia Cockran and Pansie Reed, both of Lakewood; 44 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at noon Saturday at Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church, Slaughter Neck, where friends may call one hour prior to the ceremony.
Burial will be in Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.
James B. Stimpson, 63
DOVER - James B. Stimpson of Dover died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 63.
Mr. Stimpson was born in North Carolina, son of the late Ester Brown and John F. Stimpson.
He served in the U.S. Air Force, achieving the rank of technical sergeant.
Mr. Stimpson retired in 1976 with 20 years of service.
After leaving the Air Force, he was employed with the Capital School District, Dover, with grounds and maintenance, retiring in 1990.
Mr. Stimpson was a member of the American Legion's Walter L. Fox Post, Dover.
He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Elnor Ann Stimpson; his twin brother, Richard Stimpson of Winston-Salem, N.C., and another brother, John F. Stimpson of Blacksburg, Va.; and two nephews, Samuel Stimpson and Andy Stimpson, both of Winston-Salem.
A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. today in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to American Heart Association of Kent County, P.O. Box 1977, Dover, DE 19903-1977; or to Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, First State Chapter, Suite 1103, 100 W. 10th St., Wilmington, DE 19801.

Gerald F. 'Jeri' Stinson, 64
MILLVILLE - Gerald F. "Jeri" Stinson of Millville died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in St. Luke's Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Fla.
In 1995, Mr. Stinson retired after 28 years with PEPCO, where he was an electrical tower maintenance employee.
He is survived by his wife, Eloise Mae (Richards) Stinson of Millville; two stepsons, Paul Milton Richards of Laurel, Md., and Steven Ray Richards of Baltimore County, Md.; a stepdaughter, Carol Ann Dufour of Owings Mills, Md.; two sisters, Betty Roberts of Selbyville and Barbara Potter of Buckeystown, Md.; two step-grandchildren.

Frances Taylor (Mack), 57
CAMBRIDGE, Md. - Frances Taylor (Mack) of Cambridge died Monday, March 5, 2001, in University Hospital, Baltimore. She was 57.
Ms. Taylor was born Nov. 18, 1942, in Dorchester County, the daughter of Alexander and the late Annie Mae Taylor.
She received her education in the public schools of Dorchester County.
Ms. Taylor worked at Clayton's Seafood, the Cambridge Clothing Factory, the Philadelphia Airport and for a sewing factory in Philadelphia.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Windsor of Berlin; and a brother, Arnold Smith of Trappe.
She is survived by a daughter, Cherry Jean Mack-Brisco; three sons, Antonio Taylor of Sanford, Fla., and James Taylor and Jermaine Taylor, both of Cambridge; a son-in-law, Randolph Brisco; a daughter-in-law, Yvonne Taylor; two sisters, Lula Mae Mack-Wongu and Diane Mack-Farrare, both of Cambridge; two brothers, Clarence Smith of Grasonville and Alonza Mack Jr. of Casselberry, Fla.; a granddaughter, Tanzannica Mack of Rockville; two grandsons, Maurice Collier of Rockville and Jaron Taylor of Sanford; two great-grandchildren, Savon and Jewel Collier, both of Rockville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Cambridge.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Cambridge.
Jessie Lea Allen Tibbitt, 87
BRIDGEVILLE - Jessie Lea Allen Tibbitt of Bridgeville died of respiratory failure Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in the Seaford Center of Genesis ElderCare, Seaford. She was 87.
Mrs. Tibbitt was born in Cannon, the daughter of the late Joseph and Lea King Allen.
She was a self-employed beautician for 60 years, retiring in 1996.
She was an accomplished organist and pianist who played at several area churches. She was an avid bridge player
Mrs. Tibbitt was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, Seaford, and the Order of Eastern Star, Chapter 7, Seaford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Oliver Tibbitt, in 1972.
She is survived by a nephew, Jerry W. Elliott Jr. of Delmar, Md.; and two nieces, Karen V. Waggoner of Salisbury, Md., and Shirley Sutton of Chestertown, Md.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Mount Olivet United Methodist Church, High Street, Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior to the ceremony. The Rev Dr. Bruce E. Cooke will officiate.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Seaford.

George W. Wallace, 91
MILLINGTON, Md. - George W. Wallace of Millington died Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, Del. He was 91.
Mr. Wallace was a lifetime resident of Millington.
He was born Nov. 26. 1909, son of the late Clarence C. and Bertha Dixon Wallace.
As a young boy, he worked on the farm with his father.
He developed carpentry skills, working for local carpenters and cabinetmakers.
During World War II, he was employed by Dravo Shipyard and spent 19 years at Chrysler until his retirement in 1972. He also worked maintenance for the town of Millington until 1993.
Mr. Wallace played semipro baseball for two years, but he is best known for umpiring baseball and softball games in various leagues, from Wilmington, Del., to Cambridge, for 50 years. He had received honors from the Kent Independent League, the Kent County Women's League and the Independent League of Queen Anne's County. In 1997, he was inducted as an umpire into Maryland's A.S.A. Hall of Fame.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six siblings, Bernard, Charles, Clarence, James, William and Mabel Wallace.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Louise Lockwood Wallace; three sons, G. Carlton of Newark, and Alvin R. 'Dickie' and Marvin C. Wallace, both of Sudlersville; two daughters, Jane F. Durham of Dover and Shirley Daniels of Smyrna, Del.; three brothers, Paul of Millington, Jesse of Pensacola, Fla., and Jack Wallace of Augusta, Ga.; three sisters, Margaret Godwin of Dover, Virginia Fleetwood of Millington and Dorothy Jean Littleton of Newark; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen T. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Crumpton Cemetery.
Leota Warnick, 87
GREENWOOD - Leota Warnick of Greenwood died of natural causes Wednesday, March 7, 2001, in her home. She was 87.
Ms. Warnick was born Sept. 11, 1913, near Grantsville, Md., the daughter of the late Charles and Maggie Wisseman Warnick.
She was a charter member of Tressler Mennonite Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also member of the Greenwood Cheer Center. She had been a home care provider for more than 20 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Archie and Evelyn Warnick.
She is survived by two brothers, Dwight Warnick and Walter Warnick, and his wife, Mary, all of Greenwood; and nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Tressler Mennonite Church, where friends may call from 12:30 to 2 p.m.
