Arlene L. Abel, 72
NEWARK - Arlene L. Abel of Newark, formerly of New Castle, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Bay-health-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She was 72.
Mrs. Abel was born July 11, 1930, in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Adolphus and Eleanor (Min-nersman) Lorette.
She retired in 2000 after five years of service as a bus aide for the John G. Leach School in the Colonial School District. Previously, she worked at Perrie's Restaurant in New Castle for 25 years.
Her hobbies included fishing, camping, computers and needlecraft, and she enjoyed traveling and trips to Delaware Park.
Mrs. Abel was a member of American Legion Post 2 Ladies Auxiliary, the Newark Senior Center and the New Castle Rod and Gun Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Franklin G. Abel, in 1996.
She is survived by eight children, Loretta Kasehagen-Durham of Newark, William A. Abel of Baltimore, Franklin G. Abel of Windham, Maine, Elenore Fontana of Middletown, Doris Downs of New Castle, Gail Shappee of Magnolia, Toni Dale of Milford and Helen "NeNe" Havens of Delaware City; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be noon Friday in the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, where friends may call after one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. Du Pont Parkway, New Castle.
William Bruce 'Bill' Friis Sr., 76
QUEENSTOWN, Md. - William Bruce "Bill" Friis Sr. of Queenstown died of congestive heart failure Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 76.
Mr. Friis was born in Miami, son of the late William E.H. Friis and Christine Nielsen Friis, both of whom were born in Denmark.
He was raised in Miami as a child; as a teenager, he and his family moved northward. He graduated from Central High School in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Friis served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
After the war, he attended George Washington University, graduating with a degree in architecture.
Mr. Friis was president of his family's building and remodeling business for many years. The company, Friis Builders, was located in Kensington.
His hobbies and interests included boating, fishing, playing bridge, gardening, 4-H and woodworking.
Mr. Friis was a member of the Centreville Rotary Club. He spent the last 32 years of his life in the service of Rotary in both District 7630 and District 7620, the latter covering Maryland west of the Chesapeake Bay and the District of Columbia.
He began his Rotary career when he joined the Silver Spring club in 1971. In 1973, he changed his affilia-tion to the Wheaton club, where he served as president in 1979 and became an area representative in 1981.
In 1985, he moved to Maryland's Eastern Shore, where he helped to charter the Kent Island Rotary Club and became its inaugural president. In 1998, he was an assistant governor, and in 1999, he became lieu-tenant governor of District 7630.
At the time of his death, he was serving as 2002-2003 governor of Rotary International District 7630, covering all of Delaware and Maryland's Eastern Shore.
He loved Rotary and said he was a Rotarian because "I have always been interested in civic work, com-munity service and fellowship. I find being part of Rotary to be the best way to serve."
Throughout his Rotary life, he worked for the strength of the club and always was part of projects and services at the club level. He was both a Paul Harris Fellow and a Benefactor of The Rotary Foundation. He was an active member of the Rotary Yacht Squadron of the Chesapeake Bay and was commodore in 1979.
He also was a past commodore of the Kent Island Yacht Club, a life member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a 32nd-Degree Mason of the Silver Spring Lodge and a member of the Almas Temple. He was a member of the Silver Spring Jaycees, where he served as president, as well as Maryland state vice president and national director for Maryland. He also was a member of the Lions Club of Silver Spring for the decade before he joined Rotary.
He is survived by his loving wife, Julia "Judy" Glassie Friis of Queenstown; four sons, William B. Friis Jr. of Annapolis, Mark Friis of Silver Spring, Richard Friis of Frederick and Donald Friis of Ashton; a step-son, Randolph Bowes of the Washington, D.C., area; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Michael, Kyle, Heather, Elsa, Christine and Matthew; a sister, Pearl Rector of Glen Allen, Va.; and two four-legged companions, Saint and Sinner.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Kent Island Yacht Club in Chester, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Frances Gibson-Sarro, 86
MILFORD - Frances Gibson-Sarro of Milford, formerly of Lindenhurst, N.Y., and Harrington, died of kidney disease Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2003, in the Genesis Eldercare Center in Milford. She was 86.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the Harrington Ward of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 110 S. Lucky Estate Drive, Harrington.

Miriam C. Greenhaugh, 84
LEWES - Miriam C. Greenhaugh of Lewes died of natural causes Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in her home. She was 84.
Mrs. Greenhaugh was born in Frederica, daughter of the late Gordon and Abbie (Buckaloo) Counselman.
She served in the U.S. Navy as a WAVE.
Mrs. Greenhaugh was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Greenhaugh, in 2000.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David W. and Karen Greenhaugh of Lewes; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Smith of Harrington; and a cousin, Richard Buckaloo of Lewes.
Services and burial will be private.
The family suggests memorial contributions, in celebration of Mrs. Greenhaugh's life, to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 163, Salisbury, MD 21603.

Florence Bradley Larimore, 80
HARRINGTON - Florence Bradley Larimore of Harrington died of natural causes Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 80.
Mrs. Larimore was born in Farmington, daughter of the late David Bradley and Edna Mae Bradley.
She was a homemaker.
She loved flowers, and always had a big flower garden. She also loved her animals and took care of geese, ducks, chicken and sheep. In her spare time, she also enjoyed crocheting. She will be remembered as a hard-working and loving mom and wife, who took care of her family and also raised three of her grand-children.
Mrs. Larimore attended the Bethel United Methodist Church and the Cannon United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Charles L. Larimore of Harrington; two sons, C. Roger Lari-more and Wayne "Brad" Larimore, both of Harrington; two daughters, Dolores M. "Dee" Gerardi of Har-rington and Dianne L. Grambau of Wallingford, Vt.; two sisters, Willa Mae Kimmey of Harrington and Vir-ginia Brown of Milford; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. Du Pont Highway, Harrington.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
Mildred Mary Morris, 76
MILLSBORO - Mildred Mary Morris of Millsboro died Monday, March 10, 2003, in her home. She was 76.
Mrs. Morris was the daughter of the late Neil Breslin and Mildred Jones Breslin.
She was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, James F. Morris, in 2002.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Francis E. Morris; five children, Ann V. Williams of Reho-both Beach, Claire M. Moffa of Wilmington, Francis E. Morris Jr. of Dagsboro, Kathleen M. Roberts of Or-lando, Fla., and Christine M. Iannone of Wilmington; 19 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery South, Millsboro, where friends may call two hours earlier in the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Long Neck Road, Long Neck.

Mary A. Paciocco, 63
MIDDLETOWN - Mary A. Paciocco of Middletown, formerly of Collingswood, N.J., died of natural causes Saturday, March 8, 2003, in Christiana Hospital. She was 63.
The greatest joys in her life were her three grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew and Amanda.
In addition to her grandchildren, she is survived by two daughters and two sons-in-law, Maryann and Mi-chael Grayo of Philadelphia and Rosemarie and Ed Ladzinski of Middletown.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Daniels and Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown.

Mary Elizabeth Hughes Perry, 91
FELTON - Mary Elizabeth Hughes Perry of Felton died Friday, March 7, 2003, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 91.
Mrs. Perry was born Feb. 7, 1912, near Willow Grove. She was the eighth of 11 children of the late Isaac H. and Sarah E. Hughes.
She attended the public school system in Willow Grove and the Groves Adult Education Facility in the Capitol School District.
She worked for Playtex, Green Giant, and did domestic work from which she retired. She was also a fos-ter parent to several young children. She had been very active until her health began to fail.
Mrs. Perry joined the Bethuel Seventh-day Adventist Church of Dover at an early age and held several of-fices such as church clerk, Sabbath school teacher, secretary, and community services leader. She also sang in the choir and her favorite passage of scripture was Lamentations 3:22-26: "It is of the Lord's mer-cies that we are not consumed, because compassion fail not: great is thy faithfulness.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Perry Jr.; five brothers, William T. Hughes, Mark Hughes, Jesse Hughes, David Hughes, and Roy Hughes; and four sisters, Mea H. Smith, Ruth Hughes, Grace Sockom, and Vergie Hughes.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Alta M. and Morris R. Collick; a sister, Charlotte Cooper; three grandchildren, Curtis F. Winchester, William J. Winchester, and Gwen Winchester; six great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover.
