Nelson E. Ellis, 83
GREENWOOD - Nelson E. Ellis of Greenwood, formerly of Frederica, died of natural causes Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Country Rest Home, Greenwood. He was 83.
Mr. Ellis was born in Reliance, west of Seaford near the Maryland line, son of the late Ernest C. and Clara (Coulbourne) Ellis.
He was a shipping-and-receiving clerk for Railway Express, Dover, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Ellis was a life member of the Frederica Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of the Murderkill Lions Club; Trinity United Methodist Church, Frederica; and the United Methodist Men.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Nauman and Edith Mears.
He is survived by four children and the spouses of three, Carol A. and Walter Dill of Felton, David N. and Lynn Ellis of Madison, Ala., Linda and Wayne Short of Milford, and Donald E. Ellis of New Jersey; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a niece, Shirley Croft; and a nephew, Charles Nauman.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Frederica Volunteer Fire Co., P.O. Box 283, Frederica, DE 19946.

Willie 'Sonny' Frazier Jr., 70
DOVER - Willie "Sonny" Frazier Jr. of Dover died Friday, March 7, 2003, at the Silver Lake Center, Dover, where he was well cared for and loved by the staff. He was 70.
Mr. Frazier was born July 30, 1932, in Auburn, Ala., son of the late Willie L. Frazier Sr. and Margaret F. Spottswood. He moved to Dover in 1959.
"Sonny," as his friends and family called him, received his education in the school system of Auburn and at Parker Gray High School, Alexandria, Va. He played football and basketball.
He accepted Christ at an early age and joined White Street Baptist Church, Auburn, where he attended Sunday school and church. After moving to Alexandria with his mother and stepfather, Ralph Spottswood, he united with Ebenezer Baptist Church, Alexandria.
After high school, Willie served in the U.S. Army and was in the Korean War, where he received the National Defense service medal, the United Nations service medal and the Korean Service medal with one Bronze Star. He was honorably discharged Oct. 29, 1954.
He was a professional painter and was employed by Dover Air Force Base until his retirement.
Mr. Frazier was a member of American Legion William Thomas Post 129, Alexandria.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter.
He is survived by three daughters and a son.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 tonight at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Services will be at noon Friday at Greene Funeral Home, Alexandria.
Burial will be in the Quantico (Va.) Veterans Cemetery.

Roy M. Horney, 87
DENTON, Md. - Roy M. Horney of Denton died after a short illness Wednesday, March 12, 2003, at Caroline Hospice Nursing Home, Denton. He was 87.
Mr. Horney was born in Queen Anne's County, son of the late Alpheus and Lanie Dean Horney.
He retired from the DuPont Co.'s Wilmington (Del.) Shops, where he was a machinist, in 1979 after 37 years of service.
Mr. Horney enjoyed trapshooting, bowling and traveling, especially to Maine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia Morgan Horney, in 1969; three brothers, Dean Horney, Alpheus "Al" Horney and Marvin Horney; and four sisters, Beulah Bear, Dorothy Breeding, Mary Buckle and Mabel Cole.
He is survived by his wife, Louise, whom he married in 1981; a sister, Kathryn Stranahan of Ridgely; two stepsons and their wives, Paul Sharp Jr. and Mary Sharp of Waterman, Ill., and Richard "Rick" and Marsha Sharp of Greensboro; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Moore Funeral Home PA, 12 S. Second St., Denton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Denton Cemetery.

Roy Lee Hunt, 85
REHOBOTH BEACH - Roy Lee Hunt of Rehoboth Beach died of natural causes Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 85.
Mr. Hunt was born Feb. 21, 1918, in Colfax, Wash., son of the late Inez Hunt and Lee Hunt.
At the beginning of World War II, he worked for Boeing Aircraft, Seattle, and later, in the aerospace industry in Huntsville, Ala., until his retirement in 1977. He then went on to work in the design division for the mass-transit system in Miami before moving to Rehoboth Beach, where he worked as an architect until his final retirement at age 80.
For the past four years, Mr. Hunt had been studying the Bible, and devoting time to drawing and writing papers. He enjoyed writing poetry and wrote a paper on prime numbers and mathematical theory. He also was an avid pastel artist and was fascinated by family genealogy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Camille Helseth.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret C. Hunt; a son, Joel Hunt of Washington state; three daughters, Jennifer Hunt Morrison of Washington state, Judith Hunt of Maine and Janet Leonard of Pennsylvania; two sisters, Wilma Tilley and Irma Shiffner, both of Washington state; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Georgetown.
Burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Georgetown Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Georgetown-Lewes Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

Rodney Albert 'Porky' Jones, 66
NEW CASTLE - Rodney Albert "Porky" Jones of New Castle, formerly of Coleman, Md., died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. He was 66.
Mr. Jones attended Henry Highland Garnett High School, Chestertown, Md.
In 1956, he married Betty Lee Wilson.
He was employed out of Local 199 of Laborers International of Wilmington for more than 40 years.
Mr. Jones was the president of the Brother Six Social Club, Wilmington. At an early age, he attended Union United Methodist Church, Coleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Addie Jones; a daughter, Vanessa Jones; two sisters; and three brothers.
He is survived by a daughter, Donna Wilson of Chestertown; six sisters and three brothers-in-law, Lucinda J. Ferrell of New Castle, Alberta Stevenson of Wilmington, Faye J. and James Little, Iris D. and Marvin Oakley and Erma A. Jones, all of Worton, Md., Cynthia Oakley of Philadelphia and Willie McCloria of Chestertown; a brother and two sisters-in-law, William A. and Shirley Jones, and Gertrude Jones, all of Worton; a devoted friend, Mattie Montgomery of New Castle; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and an aunt, Margaret Wilson of Worton.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Union United Methodist Church, Coleman, where friends may call two hours earlier. The Rev. Anthony Brown will officiate.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Juanita Frances Kenney, 68
CAMDEN - Juanita Frances Kenney of Camden died after a two-year battle with cancer Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2003, at St. Joseph Hospital, Lexington, Ky. She was 68.
Mrs. Kenney lived in Camden for 35 years. After her husband's retirement from civil service at Dover Air Force Base, they moved back to their hometown, Flemingsburg, Ky.
Mrs. Kenney was an excellent homemaker, being an active parent with the Camden-Wyoming Little League and supporting her sons and husband, Joe, at the baseball games. Later on, she assisted her husband with the NeuTemple Fife & Drum Corps, Wilmington.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years this March, Joe D. Kenney; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jim and Joy Kenney, and John Kenney, all of Lexington, and Joe David and Robin Kenney of Georgetown, Ky.; a daughter and son-in-law, Joni and Charles Warren of Niceville, Fla.; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Services were held at Flemingsburg First United Methodist Church.
Burial was in Fleming County Cemetery, Flemingsburg.
Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Cancer Care, P.O. Box 21 Ewing, KY 41039; or to Johnson-Mathers Activities Fund, Carlisle, KY 40311.

Hilda Darby Lankford, 83
GALESTOWN, Md. - Hilda Darby Lankford of Galestown died of congestive heart failure Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford, Del. She was 83.
Mrs. Lankford was born June 25, 1919, in Chester, Pa., daughter of the late Carl Thomas Darby and Rachel F. Dilahey Darby.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Lankford attended Galestown United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry "Jack" Lankford; two daughters, Bonnie Allen, on Oct. 26, 2002, and Terri Lankford, March 3, 2003; and a sister, Eileen Smith.
She is survived by four daughters, Sandra Eskridge and Vickie Lankford, both of Galestown, Jackie Shockley of Frankford, Del., and Karen Potter of Seaford; 15 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Mitchell of Delmar, Del., Wanda Shockley of Salisbury and Emma Cooper of Laurel, Del.; two brothers, Thomas Darby of Laurel and Harold Darby of Palm Bay, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be private.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Galestown Cemetery Fund, c/o Paul Wooten, 5922 Wheatley Church Road, Seaford, DE 19973.
