Betty Lou Perry, 74
DOVER - Betty Lou Perry of Dover died peacefully Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in her home with her husband Russell, and her son and daughter-in-law, Bradford B. and Jeannie Pearce at her side. She was 74.
Mrs. Perry was born Nov. 13, 1928, in Milford, daughter of the late Pearle and Whitely Webb.
For many years, she was in the beauty supply business and owned and managed the Professional Beauty Supply Co. in Dover, serving the Delmarva peninsula, until her retirement in 1987.
Since 1955, she had been a life member of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority, having received her master laureate degree, and was a longtime member and past president of the Laureate Gamma Chapter in Dover. She was a member of the Wyoming-Camden Round Table Club, where until recently, she was actively involved in club activities. Until recently she was an active member of the Bayhealth/Kent General Hospital junior board. Previous activities included Read-Aloud, Meals on Wheels, Dover Air Force Base Officers Wives Club, the club's thrift shop and volunteer at the base dental clinic.
Mrs. Perry had run in 3K races in Rockville, Md., and Wilmington, and for a short time held the 3K record in the state for women of her age group. She also participated in the Delaware Senior Olympics, winning a number of gold and silver awards. She was an avid golfer while a member of Shawnee Country Club, Wild Quail Golf and Country Club and most recently Eagle Creek Golf Course, Dover Air Force Base. Her golfing included playing on 45 courses in the Middle Atlantic states, North and South Carolina and Bermuda.
She was a gracious, refined, caring lady who was deeply concerned about the well-being of her family, particularly her grandchildren Brooks, Jena and Ali. Her home, a center of her life, was decorated beautifully by her; it was always in her mind and her concern to make guests feel welcome and comfortable in her home, and she did.
Mrs. Perry was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. In the 1950s and '60s, as a member of Saint Paul's Episcopal Church in Camden, she was involved in the church's youth activities.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Christine K. Pearce, in 1970.
In addition to her husband, son and daughter-in-law, she is survived by three grandchildren, Brooks, Jena and Ali Pearce, all of Dover; a sister, Agnes West of Milford; two brothers, Alton G. Webb, and his wife, Nina, of Pocomoke City, Md., and Charles Webb of Tennessee.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Christ Episcopal Church, South State and Water streets, Dover.
Burial will be held privately in Barratt's Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society 92 Read's Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720-1633; or to the American Diabetes Association, 110 S. French St., Wilmington, DE 19801.

Anna Marie Ritter, 75
LAUREL - Anna Marie Ritter of Laurel formerly of Philadelphia died Thursday, March 13, 2003, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 75.
Her husband, Edward Ritter, died in 2001.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond Landon of Laurel and Edward C. Ritter of Smyrna; a brother, Edward Vincent of Seaford; two sisters, Jean Burlingame of Milford, Conn., and Catherine Kilgore of Norwood, Pa.; 11 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N. Shipley St., Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be private.
John Coleman Robinson, 50
LANCASTER, Pa. - John Coleman Robinson of Lancaster, formerly of Milford, died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, in Lancaster General Hospital. He was 50.
Mr. Robinson was born Dec. 8, 1952, in Milford, son of John W. and Clara Jean Lank Robinson of Milford.
He was a graduate of Milford High School and graduated in 1977 from Bowman Technical School with a degree in watch making.
He was a warehouse general manager with Stauffer's of Kissel Hill, Manheim, Pa.
He enjoyed gardening, woodworking and watching sports, especially the Philadelphia teams. He loved beach activities such as fishing and boating. He loved Cape May.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Karen Eisenbrey Robinson, whom he married June 18, 1977; a son, Jason S. Robinson of Millersville, Pa.; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Jill E. and Bruce Daisey of Dagsboro, Jean and Timothy Webb of Milford and Joan and Larry Passwaters of Milford; and six nieces and nephews.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday in the funeral home of Fred F. Groff, 234 W. Orange St., Lancaster.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Sara Baker Taylor Slatcher, 82
SEAFORD - Sara Baker Taylor Slatcher of Seaford died of congestive heart failure Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in her home. She was 82.
Mrs. Slatcher was born in Gumboro, daughter of the late Lee and Elizabeth Baker.
She was a sales clerk at Taylored Tackle Shop, Seaford, for 14 years. Prior to that, she worked at the DuPont Co., Seaford, in the cafeteria.
Mrs. Slatcher attended Christ Evangelistic Church, Laurel.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Theodore Joseph Taylor Sr., in 1983; a son, Theodore J. Taylor Jr., in 1985; and her second husband, Oliver Slatcher, in 1987.
She is survived by two sons, Gary P. Taylor of Salisbury, Md., and Jerry L. Taylor Sr. of Seaford; a brother, Charles Baker of Millsboro; a sister, Doris Revel of Millsboro; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and King streets, Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Danny Linton will officiate.
Burial will be in Blades Cemetery, Blades.
Myrtle Thompson, 86
RIDGELY, Md. - Myrtle Thompson of Ridgely died of natural causes Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in Memorial Hospital at Easton, Easton. She was 86.
Mrs. Thompson was born Nov. 24, 1916, in Ridgely, daughter of the late Thomas and Bessie Thomas Tribbitt.
She was a lifetime resident of Caroline County. She worked most of her young life as a seamstress for Rob Roy Shirt Factory in Ridgely. She and her husband owned and operated several family stores, including the Log Cabin and the Texaco service station in west Denton. She also worked in the cafeteria at North Caroline High School and at Brown's Tastee-Freez, Denton.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Thompson, in November 1977; a brother, Ernest Tribbitt; and four sisters, Edna Wheeler, Clara Hartsock, Ann Maloney and Margie Mullins.
She is survived by four sons, William Robert Thompson of Hartly, Del., Franklin Thompson of Long Neck, Del., Donald Joseph Thompson of Denton and James Edward Thompson of Easton; two daughters, Jean Laughery of Easton and Carolyn Smith of Bridgeville, Del.; two brothers, Earl Tribbitt of Denton and William Tribbitt of Greensboro; a sister, Pearl Gilbert of Middletown; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home P.A., 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery, Greensboro.
Dorace Torbert Tice, 86
LAUREL - Dorace Torbert Tice of Laurel died of pneumonia Thursday, March 13, 2003, in Genesis Elder Care, Seaford. She was 86.
Mrs. Tice was born in Norfolk, Va., daughter of the late William and Estelle Torbert.
She was a homemaker.
She was an avid bowler.
Mrs. Tice was a member of Christ Evangelistic Church, Laurel.
She is survived by her husband, Raymond Charles Tice Sr.; two sons, Raymond C. Tice II of Laurel and the Rev. Roland E. Tice of Seaford; two daughters, Shirley Dickerson of Laurel and Linda Adkins of Harbeson; a brother, William Torbert of Norfolk; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Christ Evangelistic Church, Laurel, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Roland E. Tice will officiate.
Burial will be in Blades Cemetery, Blades.
Farrell Whitson, 77
RIDGELY, Md. - Farrell Whitson of Ridgely died Wednesday, March 12, 2003, in his home. He was 77.
Mr. Whitson was born in Relief, N.C., son of the late Calvin Whitson and Nerva Barnett Whitson.
He moved to Caroline County at a young age.
He was a truck driver for Salisbury Brothers in Ridgely and had driven for Elliott Brothers and many other companies during his truck driving years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sybil Goad Whitson, on April 29, 2002; two brothers, Starlin Whitson and Cas Whitson; and a sister, and Alma Whitson.
He is survived by four children, Connie Montgomery of Wimberley, Texas, Wayne Whitson Sr. of Ridgely, Barbara Walls of Ridgely and Douglas Whitson Sr. of Goldsboro; three brothers, Charles Whitson of Johnson City, Tenn., Ray Whitson and Lee Whitson, both of Green Mountain, N.C.; four sisters, Mary Ray of Unicoi, Tenn., Mae Barnett and Darlena Whitson, both of Johnson City and Shirley Hughes of Buladean, N.C.; and seven grandchildren, Wayne Whitson Jr., Jennifer Walls, Jessica Walls, Douglas Whitson Jr., Heather Whitson, Nikki Montgomery and Coty Montgomery.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., Denton, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely.
Lillian Bedwell, 87
GEORGETOWN - Lillian Bedwell of Georgetown died Friday, March 9, 2001, in Stockley Center, Georgetown. She was 87.
Graveside service will be Thursday in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.
