J. Russell 'Chock Up' Hudson, 81
DAGSBORO - J. Russell "Chock Up" Hudson of Dagsboro died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. He was 81.
Mr. Hudson was born Sept. 5, 1919, the son of the late John L. and Nina Lynch Hudson.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
He and his brother were the owners & operators of Hudson Brothers Garage in Dagsboro for 40 years.
Mr. Hudson was the first president of the Delaware Beach Buggy Association, later renamed D.M.S, former member of the Dagsboro Town Council and honorary member of the Dagsboro Volunteer Fire Co.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Edith C. Hudson; two sons, Gary "Smoky" Hudson of Virginia Beach, Va., and Van Hudson of West Chester, Pa.; a daughter, Penny Brown of Dover; a brother, Richard Hudson of Dagsboro; and seven grandchildren, Lorie, Brown, Ryan Brown, Brandy Hudson, Seth Hudson, Brooks Knapp, Jennifer Hudson, and Mathew Hudson.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Chapel of Melson Funeral Services, Thatcher Street in Frankford, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

Melvin Leroy Jackson Sr., 71
SMYRNA - Melvin Leroy Jackson Sr. of Smyrna died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, in Bayhealth/Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was 71.
Mr. Jackson received his education in the Delaware public school system.
He entered the U.S. Armed Forces serving for 30 years, receiving numerous medals, awards, and an honorable discharge.
Mr. Jackson then started a custodial business.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elwood and Lillian Jackson.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Will Ella Jackson; a daughter, Brenda Lee Reynolds of Ellicott City, Md.; two sons, Arthur Thomas Freeman and his wife, Pandora, and Melvin Leroy Jackson Jr., and his fiancé Gloria Jean Cottman all of Dover; a brother, Kennard; a sister-in-law, Carolyn; four grandchildren, Raymond Burke, Phillip Reynolds, Arthur Thomas Freeman III, and Jeneen Coffman; two great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at St Peters Episcopal Church, 22 North Union St. in Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear.
May (Baxendale) Klein, 73
MILFORD - May (Baxendale) Klein of Milford died Friday, March 16, 2001, in her home with her family by her side. She was 73.
Mrs. Klein graduated from Philadelphia High School for Girls in 1945.
She worked as a secretary at Dunn & Bradstreet, then became a cosmetologist before becoming a homemaker and mother of six children. After moving to Milford, she was a substitute teacher in the Milford School District for 10 years.
She was married to Edwin Paul Klein for "99" years before he passed on April 8, 2000. She was a wife and mother, she married her husband, Edwin, Nov. 4, 1950.
Mrs. Klein was a member of Christ Episcopal Church in Milford. She served as a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 10 years before becoming president. She supported her husband as he rose through the Masonic organization to become Worshipful Master and was a member of the Eastern Star for 26 years. She was also a member of St. Alban's Eastern Star organization in Drexel Hill, Pa.
She is survived by three daughters, Jerilyn "Buffy" Ehrlich of Las Vegas, Deborah Lynn Ammon of Milford and Sandra Klein Friefeld of Long Beach, Calif.; three sons, Eric C. Klein of Georgetown, Kurt A. Klein of Lancaster, Pa., and Carl D. Klein of Milford, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Christ Episcopal Church, 2nd and Church streets, Milford. An Eastern Star service will be 8 p.m. Monday at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford.
Burial will be private.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Salvation Army, 107 S. Market St., Wilmington, DE 19801.
William Little Jr., 76
GRASONVILLE, Md. - William Little Jr. of Grasonville died Wednesday, March 14, 2001, in Easton Memorial Hospital, Easton. He was 76.
Mr. Little was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Queenstown, the son of the late William Little Sr. and Marion Deedon Little.
He attended Queen Anne's County Public Schools.
Mr. Little was employed by R. B. Baker and Sons, Bramble, and Queen Anne's County Disposal. He had the greatest love of operating the bulldozer.
Later in life, he met and married Lucille H. Gibbs Little, and from this marriage, no children were born, but they raised three children as their own, which he had the greatest love for them.
He joined Bryan's Church under the leadership of the Rev. Robert Caldwell. He was also a member of the men's choir.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, George L. Boardley of Baltimore and Bruce L. Boardley Sr. of Grasonville; a daughter, Melba Gibbs Dixon of Dover, Del.; two sisters-in-law, Constance Gibbs of Grasonville and Shirley Seals of Philadelphia; two daughters-in-law, Patricia Boardley of Baltimore and Charlotte Boardley of Grasonville; a son-in-law, Donald Dixon of Dover, Del.; a special friend, Shirley Gross; 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. today at the Bryan's United Methodist Church, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
William Russ Salmons, 92
HOUSTON - William Russ Salmons of Houston died March 15, 2001, in Bayhealth/Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 92.
Mr. Salmons was a farmer all of his life. He enjoyed raising goats and chickens on his farm and will be remembered as a very hard worker. He also worked as a watchman for Burris Food in Harrington.
His favorite hobby was fox hunting.
Mr. Salmons will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert J. and Annie B. Salmons; two brothers, David R. Salmons and Harry Salmons and two sisters, Bertie Tatman and Stella Cannon.
He is survived by two nephews, David R. Salmons of Harrington and Ernest J. Salmons of Federalsburg, Md.; two nieces, Harriett Davis of Milford and Anne Draper of Felton and many great nieces and nephews.
Service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. The Rev. William H. Miller will be officiating.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
Mary A. Whiteman, 84
SOUTH BETHANY - Mary A. Whiteman of South Bethany died Monday, Feb. 19, 2001, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 84.
Mrs. Whiteman was a born in Coatesville, Pa., the daughter of the late Aldus J. Wertz and Nellie S. Smith Wertz.
She was employed with Acme Markets for 30 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul W. Whiteman and a son, Paul E. Whiteman.
She is survived by a sister, Grace E. Wertz of Coatsville; a brother, Edward L. Wertz of Coatsville; two grandsons, Thomas E. Whiteman and David P. Whiteman; a granddaughter, Terri L. Whiteman; and a great-grandson, Kyle D. Whiteman.
Arrangements are made by Melson Funeral and Cremation Services, Frankford.
Dale Edwin Conoway, 68
MILLSBORO - Dale Edwin Conoway of Millsboro died Friday, March 14, 2003, in his home. He was 68.
Mr. Conoway was born in Georgetown, son of the late Ollie and Elsie (Shockley) Conoway.
He had been a truck driver for the poultry industry for more than 30 years.
Mr. Conoway attended Christ Evangelist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Faye Burks Conoway, in 1997 and a daughter, Patricia Ann Conoway.
He is survived by three daughters, Debra Dale Brian of Georgetown, Elizabeth Tice of Woodside and Kim Wladkowski of Millsboro; a sister, Carol Lingo of Rehoboth Beach; a brother, Russell Conoway of Georgetown; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Asbury Methodist Cemetery, near Georgetown.
Don Romero Martinez Jr., newborn
BRIDGEVILLE - Don Romero Martinez Jr. was born and died Saturday, March 8, 2003, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was a newborn.
He is survived by a loving mother, Jessica Gibbs of Bridgeville; a loving father, Don Romero Martinez Sr. of Ellendale; his paternal grandmother, Carolyn Davis of Ellendale; his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Gail Gibbs of Bridgeville; four uncles; seven aunts; and a host of other relatives.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Milford.
Burial will be in Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church, Ellendale.
