Marietta C. Morgan Johnson, 69
Milford - Marietta C. Morgan Johnson of Milford died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in her home with her family. She was 69.
Mrs. Johnson was born July 21, 1933 in Ellendale, daughter of the late Millard J. and Elsie Mae Calhoun Morgan.
She worked in the business office of Milford Memorial Hospital, leaving as manager of the department after 10 years there. She was employed in various other businesses over the years including O.W. Shockley Insurance in Milford, the Ellendale Market and as the site manager for the Milford Senior Center.
She enjoyed crocheting and rooting for her favorite NASCAR driver, Jeff Gordon, during the racing season. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren's Little League games, which she attended along with her husband.
Mrs. Johnson was a charter and lifetime member of the Carlisle Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary in Milford and served two terms as the organization's president. She also was a member and past treasurer of the Kent County Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the Dover Modern Maturity Center and the AARP. She attended Ellendale United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Howard J. Morgan.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Vail W. Johnson; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Howard J. and Mona Johnson of Felton and Richard V. Johnson of Milford; two daughters and a son-in-law, Carol A. Evans of Harrington and Anita L. and Ron Hearn of Milford; a sister, Roselle E. Roe of Frederica; six grandchildren, Howard J. Johnson Jr., Jennifer M. Ricketts, Laura N. Evans, Russell V. Johnson, Stephen C. Hearn and Lindsay M. Hearn; and a great-granddaughter, Kayla M. Ricketts.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Carlisle Fire Company, 615 N.E. Front St., Milford.
Burial will be in Ellendale Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Sussex County office of Delaware Hospice, Georgetown Professional Park, Suite 107, 600 Du Pont Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947.

G. E. Herman Jones, 65
Zephyrhills, Fla. - G.E. Herman Jones of Zephyrhills formerly of Rock Hall, Md. died Wednesday, March 19, 2003, in Royal Oaks Hospice Care Center in Dade City, Fla. He was 65.
Mr. Jones was born April 3, 1937 in Fairlee, Md., son of Frances Louise Berger Jones of Chestertown, Md. and the late Herman Jones.
He was a 1955 graduate of Rock Hall High School and in 1957 married Connie Lee Price of Rock Hall. They resided in Rock Hall.
Mr. Jones worked with Jack's Service Station as a mechanic until 1979. Also during that period he worked as a firefighter for B.W.I. Airport, and served in that capacity until 1991 when he retired with the rank of lieutenant.
He and his wife moved to Zephyrhills, where he enjoyed volleyball, cards, dinner theater and playing games with family and friends. He also was a sports enthusiast.
Mr. Jones was a member of Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Department, where he served in several offices, including as chief and as a member of the board of directors. He also served as president of the Kent County Fire Chiefs' Association and was a member of Rock Hall United Methodist Church. He was a member of Southern Charm Church of Zephyrhills.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Louise Carroll in 1994.
In addition to his mother and his wife of 46 years, he is survived by a son, Gary W. Jones of Zephyrhills; a daughter and son-in-law, Vicki L. and Samuel Lewis of Chestertown, Md.; three grandchildren, Samuel Lee, Cody and Tori Lewis; a brother, Barry Wallace Jones of Rock Hall; a sister, Kay Frances Glenn of Havre de Grace, Md.; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Rock Hall United Methodist Church. Relatives and friends may call between 6 and 8 tonight at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road Chestertown, Md. Interment will be in St. Paul's Cemetery near Chestertown. Pallbearers will be Bob McGinnis, Frank Legg, Vernon Rodney, Marion Townsend, Joseph Gagalski, and Robert Glenn. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Hernando Pasco Hospice 12107 Majestic Blvd. Hudson, FL 34667or H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute at the University of South Florida 12902 Magnolia Drive Tampa, FL 33612-9497, or Rock Hall Volunteer Fire Department P.O. Box 577 Rock Hall, MD 21661.

Joseph A. Kazlauskas, 38
DOVER - Joseph A. Kazlauskas of Dover died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in his home. He was 38.
Mr. Kazlauskas was born Nov. 28, 1964, in Phila, Pa., son of Regina Franks Kazlauskas of Harrington, Sophie Kazlauskas of Daytona, Fla., and the late Kazys Kazlauskas.
He was a construction worker in the Dover area.
Mr. Kazlauskas loved and enjoyed his pet dogs, other animals and music.
In addition to his parents he is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Wanda Kazlauskas of Viola and Frank and Donna Stasiunas of Leander, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Maria Kazlauskas-Stubbs and Phil Stubbs of Carlsbad, Calif.; two aunts, Janina Kligys of Naples, Fla. and Lucy Rimkus of San Diego, Calif.; a niece, Bridget Kazlauskas of Viola; a nephew, Blake Stasiunas of Leander, Texas; eight cousins; and long time companion, Ann Brobeck of Dover.
Mass of Christian burial will be 1:30 p.m. Monday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, Dover, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.

Esther K. Larrimore, 72
DENTON, Md. - Esther K. Larrimore of Denton died Tuesday March, 18, 2003, in the University Specialty Hospital in Baltimore. She was 72.
Mrs. Larrimore was born in Milford, Del., daughter of the late Preston Lee and Trina Lemex Kenton.
She had been a secretary for the Preston Trucking Company in Preston from which she retired in the early 1970s. She had also been an Avon salesperson for 13 years until 1993.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles C. Larrimore, on Aug. 8, 1999; and a sister, Stella Counselman.
She is survived by three daughters, Cindy Treta of Denton, Gail A. Marshall of Hartley, Del. and Dana R. Larrimore of Millersville; and a grandson, Derek Marshall of Hartly, Del.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in the Moore Funeral Home P.A., 12 South Second St., Denton, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the Maryland Eastern Shore Veteran's Cemetery, near Hurlock.
Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 505, Denton, MD 21629.

Hester S. Monroe, 96
MILFORD - Hester S. Monroe of Milford died Tuesday, March 18, 2003, in Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was 96.
Mrs. Monroe was born Dec. 6, 1906 in Felton, daughter of the late Edgar N. and Elizabeth (Minner) Smith. She was raised in Felton as a child until moving to Milford in her early 20s.
She was a devoted wife and life-long homemaker who dedicated herself to providing much pleasure and happiness to all her family members and friends. Her gentle kindness and caring ways allowed her to be loved by all who were blessed with the opportunity to share in her life.
In her spare time she enjoyed knitting, needlepoint and collecting antiques from local auctions and shops. She also had a great love for the Lord and on most Sunday mornings could be found sitting in her favorite pew at the First Presbyterian Church of Milford, where she was a lifetime member.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul G. Monroe, in 1969.
She is survived by a daughter, Betty M. Dickinson of Milford; a brother, Robert A. Smith of Felton; two granddaughters, Paula M. Dickinson and Carol A. Dickinson, both of Milford; five nieces and two nephews.
Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.

Betty Jean Watson, 74
ELKTON, Md. - Betty Jean Watson of Elkton died Thursday, March 20, 2003, in her home. She was 74.
Mrs. Watson was born Sept. 5, 1928 in Chestertown, daughter of the late Wilbur H. and Bessie Patricks Needles.
She and her husband spent many years traveling the country and overseas through his work as a seaman. Some of her fondest memories were when they spent time in Africa and Spain. Following her husband's retirement and afte her children were raised, she began working part time for Maryland Shore Auctioneers, later named Chestertown Antique and Furniture. She was forced to retire after 20 years in February of 2003 because of her illness. She also loved horses.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Ralph G. Watson Jr.; a daughter, Shawyn M. Watson of Chestertown; two sons, Wilbur H. Watson of Townsend, Del. and Ralph G. Watson III of Dover, Del.; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A. Chestertown, Md.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Chester Cemetery, Chestertown.

Charles Washington Cooper, 82
GEORGETOWN, Md. - Charles Washington Cooper of Georgetown died Friday, March 16, 2001, in his home. He was 82.
Mr. Cooper was born June 15, 1918, in Georgetown, the son of the late Thomas and Mary Elizabeth Cooper.
He was a World War II veteran.
Mr. Cooper worked in Wilmington, Del., as a construction worker under Local 199 Labor Union.
He loved singing.
Mr. Cooper attended Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Butlertown, where he sang with various choirs and groups until his health failed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor B. Cooper; two brothers; four sisters; and two grandchildren.
He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Cooper and Elinor Brown, both of Georgetown; five sons, Charles E. Cooper, Thomas W. Cooper and William A. Cooper, all of Georgetown, Freddie Cooper of Middletown, Del., and George C. Cooper of New Jersey; a brother, Owen Cooper of Swarthmore, Pa.; a devoted friend, Margaret Green of Butlertown; a brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; a son-in-law; two daughters-in-law; 17 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Mt. Olive A.M.E. Church in Butlertown, where friends may call two hours prior to service.
Burial will be in Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, Georgetown.
