Doris Lee Gibson, 72
LAUREL - Doris Lee Gibson of Laurel died Monday, March 10, 2003, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, Md. She was 72.
Mrs. Gibson was born Sept. 28, 1930, on Staten Island, N.Y., the first child of the late Mike and Mae Obertz.
A natural beauty, she was selected as the Easter Seals poster child for New York City when she was 6 years old. In 1950, she married Samuel Gibson, a dashing U.S. Navy hospital corpsman. They soon moved to Roxbury, N.J., where they raised their children. For many years, she was part of a community theater group and sometimes produced plays in which her husband acted.
After retiring to Laurel, Mrs. Gibson and her husband took trips with old friends to Ireland, Mexico, Scotland and Greece, as well as making numerous visits to their children and their families in Oregon, New Jersey and Georgia. She had many friends in the Trap Pond area and enjoyed visiting with her son's in-laws, Homer and Verna Disharoon of Laurel.
She was a voracious reader. Having read thousands of books, she had to resort to writing them all down so she wouldn't check them out of the library twice. She enjoyed many discussions with her book club. Through the years, she walked thousands of miles with her dog, Perra, and swam hundreds of laps with her friends at the Salisbury YMCA. She was kind, loving, generous and truly loved by all she knew. While quick to make friends, she tolerated neither hatred nor injustice. She lived by the Golden Rule. She was a beautiful woman who radiated her goodness throughout her life. She made all of her children feel that they were special and savored the time spent with each grandchild. Her greatest gift to her family was her love. She kept an inscription nearby with which to encourage her children; it read, "You will succeed beyond your wildest dreams." And she did.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a sister, Joan; three children, Michael, Shawn and Kerry; and six grandchildren, Meaghan, Sally, Sam, Colin, Jack and Maggie.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.

Marcos Krausz, M.D., 83
MEDIA, Pa. - Marcos Krausz, M.D., of Media died Friday, March 23, 2001, in his home. He was 83.
Dr. Krausz was born Sept. 14, 1916, in Austria in the middle of World War I. He survived only to face World War II years later. He was expelled from medical school in Vienna because he was Jewish. The Krausz family was deported to Portugal, a twist of fate that ended up saving all their lives. He and his younger brother, Alex, stayed in Portugal while his younger brother and sister, Nelly and Ernst, and his parents went to a safe Israel. A self-taught linguist, he was able to work as a translator, support himself and his brother, all while attending and paying for medical school.
After the war, he became a physician in Portugal, and shortly after went to England and Scotland to specialize in anesthesiology. After studying at the Royal Academy of Physicians in Edinboro and returning to Portugal, He realized job opportunities were limited and thought the United States might be the place to go next. Answering ads for anesthesiologists in JAMA, he picked Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia. It was there he met and married his wife on July 1, 1959.
Dr. Krausz worked with a group at Taylor, Crozer and Sacred Heart hospitals for a number of years, then went to Haverford Community (now Mercy Community), where he served as chief of anesthesiology until he retired in 1989, at age 72.
He overcame much adversity in his life, but always turned the negative into positive and was always able to laugh and make others laugh with him. The greatest tribute people can give him is to smile, laugh or tell one of his favorite jokes when you think of him.
Dr. Krausz was the best father in the world, an extraordinary physician, writer, philosopher, poet and friend to countless people. He was truly one of a kind, a gem among men. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all he touched.
He is survived by his children, Daniel of Dover, Del., and Pamela of Brookfield, Vt.; his sister, Cornelia of Vienna, Austria; two brothers, Alexander of Portugal and Ernst of Vienna, and his family; his ex-wife, Margaret; and thousands of people he touched and helped either through his medicine, laughter, wisdom or friendship.
An intimate service will be 11:30 a.m. today at Cavanagh-Patterson Funeral Home, 43 E. Baltimore Ave. in Media.
The family requests no flowers. Donations in his name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 600 N. Jackson St., Media, PA 19063; or the Domestic Abuse Project of Delaware County, Inc., 14 W. Second St., Media, PA 19063.
