Alfred D. Moore, 89
SMYRNA - Alfred D. Moore of Smyrna died Monday, March 24, 2003, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospi-tal, Dover. He was 89.
Mr. Moore was born Dec. 16, 1913, in Dover, son of the late Abraham and Mary Ellen Hollowell Moore.
He was a foreman in the shipping department of Tyler Refrigeration in Smyrna for more than 30 years before retirement.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending Spence's Bazaar and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Moore was an honorary member of Citizens Hose Co. No. 1 in Smyrna.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Moore; and a sister, Edna Wooters.
He is survived by his wife, Bessie Cochran Moore; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Ellen Ann and Bruce Moffitt of Smyrna and Linda L. and Ray Davis of Clayton; four grandchildren, Michael Moffitt, Mich-ele Botsch, Steven Minner and Paul Davis; and two great-grandchildren, Chelsea and Sydney Botsch.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday in Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Smyrna.

Lorena Belle Moore Taylor, 84
GREENWOOD - Lorena Belle Moore Taylor of Greenwood died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in Country Rest Home, Greenwood, where she had lived since 1990. She was 84.
Mrs. Taylor was born July 24, 1918, near Houston, daughter of the late John Henry "Harry" Moore and Minnie Wheeler Moore.
She graduated from Harrington High School in 1937 and from Milford Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1943.
Mrs. Taylor worked for a short while as a nurse at Milford Memorial Hospital in the operating room, and also did private duty until starting her family.
She loved her flowers and garden and crocheting, and enjoyed sitting watching the birds.
Mrs. Taylor was a member of First Baptist Church in Milford, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Moore; and her husband, Harlan F. Taylor, in 1985.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Harlene and Dennis Bradley of Greenwood; a son and daughter-in-law, Arley F. and Margaret Taylor of Greenwood; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, Arch W. and Irma Moore of Greenwood and J. Henry Moore Jr. and Betty Moore of Milford; a brother-in-law, Alvin Coudright of Dover; a sister-in-law, Louise Hudson of Milton; five grandchildren, Michael Goff, Laura Ogden, Arley Taylor Jr. and Lydia Taylor, all of Greenwood, and Jonathan Goff of Newark; and four great-grandchildren, Shawn Goff, Matthew Goff, Rita Ogden and Regan Ogden III.
Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church in Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

John I. Way Sr, 71
MARYDEL - John I. Way Sr. of Marydel died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in Bayhealth/Kent General Hos-pital, Dover. He was 71.
Mr. Way was born July 9, 1931 in Baltimore, son of the late Henry and Mary Pearl (Murphy) Way.
After 21 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force serving his country, preserving our freedom in Korea and two tours of duty in Vietnam, he moved to Delaware with his family.
After his military career, he worked in the circulation department of the Delaware State News, retiring in 1994.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John I. Jr. and Kara R. Way of Camden; three daughters and a son-in-law, Elizabeth A. "Lizzy" Way Arrazola of West Palm Beach, Fla., Karen B. Way of Tyngsboro, Mass., and Amy L. and Norman Mullen of Felton; five grandchildren, Alex Way, Marc and Matthew Arra-zola, Sarah and Abbey Mullen; his former wife, Judith E. Schaube of Goldsboro, Md.; two brothers, Tho-mas E. Way of Baltimore and Donald C. Fink of Manchester, Mass.; and two nieces, Susan Weitzel of Monkton, Md., and Sharon Esslinger of Bel Air, Md.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday in Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Committal services with full military honors will be 2 p.m. Thursday in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 100 Patriots Way, Millsboro.
Anna Doris Wright, 73
DOVER - Anna Doris Wright, a resident of Capitol Healthcare Services in Dover, formerly of Laurel and Milford, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, of complications of Alzheimer's disease. She was 73.
Mrs. Wright was born April 30, 1929, in Chester, Pa., and grew up in Claymont.
She was retired from the position of housekeeper and cook for the rectory of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford.
She was a loving wife and devoted mother who will be missed dearly.
Mrs. Wright was a longtime member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. At church, she was in-volved with the ladies guild and the Legion of Mary, and was a song leader. She also was a member of the auxiliary of the American Legion Post 93 in Pocomoke City, Md., for 36 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, George, in December 2000.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, George Wright Jr. and Patricia Wright of Seaford; a daugh-ter and son-in-law, Terry Ann and Roger Reed of Milford; a sister, Marion Rowan of Newark; and a brother, Joseph Burns of Claymont.
Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in Short Funeral Home, 700 West St., Laurel.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Seaford. The Rev. John Harrison will officiate.

Helen E. (Craig) Cannon, 79
MIDDLETOWN - Helen E. (Craig) Cannon of Middletown died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in her home. She was 79.
Mrs. Cannon was the manager of Villagebrook I in Middletown for 29 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, Irvin Cannon, in 1995; four brothers; and a sister.
She is survived by seven children and their spouses, John and Doris Farrow of Newark, James and Dee Craig and Phyllis and John Clancy, all of Middletown, Etta Brown of Woodstown, N.J., Debbie and Richard McClure of Townsend, Irvin and Betty Cannon of Elkton, Md., and Edward and Debbie Cannon of North East, Md.; three brothers, Donald Biddle of Ocean City, Md., Dallas Biddle of Dover and Ralph Biddle of Smyrna; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; her special nurse, Yolanda Galindo; and beloved pet dog, Pooh.
Service will be held noon Wednesday at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, where friends may call from one and one-half hours prior to the service.
Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Chesapeake City Road, Bear.

Mabel S. Graves, 89
LAUREL - Mabel S. Graves of Laurel died of heart failure Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Life Care at Lofland Park. She was 89.
Mrs. Graves worked for Revlon in Milwaukee, then was a manager for Lord & Taylor Beauty Salons in New York, retiring in 1973 after 26 years. She moved to Laurel in 1973.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George D. Graves, in 1992; and a sister, Mildred McNally, who cared for Mrs. Graves until her own death in May 2000.
She is survived by a sister, Edith Rhodes of Houston, Texas; a brother-in-law, Howard C. McNally of Laurel, who cared for her until her death; two nieces; and a nephew.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Laurel.

Wolcott Hutchins, 82
WOODLAND BEACH - Wolcott Hutchins of Woodland Beach died of congestive heart failure Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 82.
Mr. Hutchins was born April 20, 1918, in Hartly, the son of the late Wolcott and Mary Racine Hutchins.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater during the Battle of Leyte Gulf and the New Guinea and Philippines invasions.
He retired from the U.S. Civil Service as an aircraft technician/supervisor at Dover Air Force Base. He later worked part-time for the Delaware Division of Fish and Wildlife.
Mr. Hutchins was an avid waterfowl hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed gardening and Labrador retrievers.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Beulah Blankenship Hutchins, in 1998.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Brooks Hutchins; three sons, Robert W. Hutchins and Douglas J. Hutchins, both of Smyrna, and Wayne Hutchins of Wilmington, N.C.; two daughters, Cheryl Kenley of Wyoming and Sandra Winnington of Wilmington, Del.; two stepsons, Melvin R. Sethman of Dade, Fla., and Francis Sethman of Smyrna; a sister, Agnes Newcomber of Bryn Mawr, Pa.; and three grandsons, Justin Kenley of Seattle, Weston Kenley of Philadelphia and Douglas Hutchins Jr. of Woodland Beach.
Service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Faries Funeral Chapel, 29 S. Main St., Smyrna, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna.

A.A. 'Sandy' MacGlashan III, 74
CHURCH HILL, Md. - A.A. "Sandy" MacGlashan III of Church Hill died of natural causes Friday, March 23, 2001, in Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 74.
Mr. MacGlashan was born July 3, 1926, in West Palm Beach, Fla., son of Archibald Alexander MacGlashan Jr. and Georgia Marie Teeple MacGlashan.
He graduated from Kent School in Kent, Conn., class of 1945.
Mr. MacGlashan enlisted in the U.S. Navy upon graduation.
He later attended the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
Mr. MacGlashan joined his father in farming on Plain Dealing in Talbot County, where he married Elizabeth Jeanne "Betty" Kirby of St. Michaels. He and his father then purchased Parson Green Farm in Church Hill, engaging in a dairy-and-grain partnership. In the early 1960s, he purchased Kings Town Tractor near Chestertown, retiring in 1998 after 38 years in business.
He also was a licensed real-estate broker, and served on the Queen Anne's Zoning board of appeals for 26 years, was a Queen Anne's County Magistrate Court Justice of the Peace and was elected in 1990 as a Queen Anne's County commissioner.
He was a licensed private pilot and enjoyed flying J-3 Cubs and other aircraft from his farm.
Mr. MacGlashan was a member of the Church Hill Volunteer Fire Co., the Queen Anne's County Library Board, the Church Hill Lions Club, the Sudlersville Skeet Club, of which he was past president, the Queen Anne's County Airport Advisory Board, the Queen Anne's County Farm Bureau board of directors and the Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital Board of Trustees, serving as its president. He was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, serving as vestryman and senior warden, and was appointed as the bishop's warden when the church was without a rector.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Scott MacGlashan, and daughter-in-law, Carolyn MacGlashan, of Church Hill; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Dr. Susan M. Fieldman and Russell A. Fieldman of Oakton, Va., and Margaret "Molly" M. Tobin and William R. Tobin III of Church Hill; a brother, Donald W. MacGlashan of Chevy Chase; 10 grandchildren, Steven G. MacGlashan, David H. MacGlashan, Marcus S. MacGlashan, D. Alexander Fieldman, Ryan A. Fieldman. William R. Tobin IV, Anna S. Tobin, Parker M. Tobin, James A. Tobin and Elizabeth R. Tobin.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Church Hill, with the Rev. William P. Chilton and the Rev. David F. Gearhart officiating.

Ralph Wallen McGinnes, 85
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Ralph Wallen McGinnes of Chestertown died of natural causes Saturday, March 24, 2001, in Chestertown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chestertown. He was 85.
Mr. McGinnes was born May 25, 1915, in McGinnes Corner, Queen Anne's County, son of the late Harry Franklin and Bertha Myrtle Wallen McGinnes.
He was a 1932 graduate of Sudlersville High School.
Soon after his graduation, Mr. McGinnes began work with his father as a farmer. He continued his career as a farmer and, beginning in 1962, owned and operated his own farm until his retirement in 1980.
He was married in 1946 to Amanda Lee Coursey. They lived in Church Hill and, in 1965, moved to Deep Landing.
He enjoyed refinishing furniture and gardening.
Mr. McGinnes was a member of Chestertown Baptist Church for more than 20 years, volunteering many hours.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Oct. 15, 1999.
He is survived by a son, Mac McGinnes of Church Hill; two sisters, Elsie R. Trojak of Palo Alto, Calif., and Helen E. Pardee of Centreville; a brother, Harry Sidney McGinnes of Chestertown; two granddaughters, Anne Louise McGinnes of Rock Hall and Rebecca Lynn McGinnes of Church Hill; a great-granddaughter, Amanda Louise Plummer of Rock Hall; and several nieces and nephews.
Service will be noon Tuesday at Chestertown Baptist Church, where relatives and friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Crumpton Cemetery, Crumpton.
