Deborah Jean Dell, 66
ELLENDALE - Deborah Jean Dell of Ellendale died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 66.
Mrs. Dell was born in Harrisburg, Pa., the daughter of the late Harold and Eleanor Ganoe Dearolf.
She received her registered nurse's degree from the Harrisburg Hospital School of Nursing.
She was employed by the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital as a nurse anesthetist, retiring on March 2.
Mrs. Dell enjoyed camping, boating and arts and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Leroy Dell, in October 1999.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen Wildberger of Georgetown; a son, James H. Dell of Greenwood; her foster daughter, Ruth Leaper of Shermansdale, Pa.: a sister, Nancy Miller of Lewes; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight at Parsell Funeral Home, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford Street in Georgetown.
Service will be noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Georgetown

Sarah E. Jones, 78
MILLSBORO - Sarah E. Jones of Millsboro, formerly of Selbyville, died Friday, March 23, 2001, in Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 78.
Mrs. Jones was born in Whaleyville, Md., daughter of the late Lemuel and Ida Showell Holland.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Jones attended the Stein Highway Church of God in Seaford and the Curtis United Methodist Church in Bishopville, Md.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe W. Jones, in 1995.
She is survived by three sons, Billy Holland of Frankford, Vernon Holland of Dagsboro and Carl Holland of Columbus, Ga.; three daughters, Betty Forbes of Georgetown, Regina McCloud of Bear and Linda Duffy of Rehoboth Beach; two brothers, Elton Holland of Frankford and Levin Holland of Berlin, Md.; three sisters, Maggie Holland and Kathleen Holland, both of Whaleyville, and Gladys Mitchell of Selbyville; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call two hours prior to the service. The Rev. Timothy Duffield will officiate.
Burial will be in Curtis Cemetery, Bishopville.
Ruth Woodruff Kaye, 55
MAGNOLIA - Ruth Woodruff Kaye of Magnolia died of cancer Saturday, March 24, 2001, in her home. She was 55.
Mrs. Kaye was born Aug. 18, 1945, in Scranton, Pa., daughter of the late E. Kermit and Eleanor Kennedy Giles.
She worked as a receptionist in the law office of Gary Dodge.
Mrs. Kaye was a member of the Cornerstone Church of the Assemblies of God in Milford.
She is survived by her husband, David J. Kaye of Magnolia; two daughters and a son-in-law, Cara J. Woodruff of Dover and Wendi L. and Joel Harmon of Mount Airy, N.C.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Marian L. and Lawrence Byrnes of Goshen, Ind.
Memorial service will 7 p.m. Thursday at the Cornerstone Church of the Assemblies of God, 214 S. Walnut St., Milford.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Cornerstone Church of the Assemblies of God, 214 S. Walnut St., Milford, DE 19963, or to O.M.S International, Box A, Greenwood, IN 46142.

Verna Louise Sewert, 94
DOVER - Verna Louise Sewert of Westminster Village, Dover, for the past four years, formerly of York, Pa., died of heart failure Thursday, March 22, 2001, in Westminster Village Health Center, Dover. She was 94.
Mrs. Sewert was born June 17, 1906, in Jamestown, N.Y., daughter of the late Charles Werner Scott and Anna Louise Johnson Scott.
She attended the New York School of Fine and Applied Art (Parsons) from 1927-1929.
Mrs. Sewert married William F. Sewert on June 23, 1931; they were married 65 years.
She worked with fashion and fabric design and illustration in New York for several years after graduating from college. Before attending college, she designed and painted 1,700 kerchiefs for the West Point Graduation Hop in 1925 for the Studio Art Shop in Greenwich Village, New York City. She exhibited and sold many of her watercolor and oil paintings of still life, seascapes and landscapes through the York Art Association.
Upon the death of her husband on April 4, 1997, she moved to Dover to reside at Westminster Village.
Mrs. Sewert also was an accomplished pianist and organist. She served as organist and choir director for Bethany Methodist Episcopal Church in Brooklyn, N.Y., until November 1936.
Mrs. Sewart is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Louise Haufe, and son-in-law, Richard Eric Haufe, of Camden; and two grandsons, Richard Scott Haufe and William Carl Haufe, both of Camden.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, 301 S. Ogontz St, York.
Burial will be private.

Bryce R. Ward, 20
FREDERICA - Bryce R. Ward of Frederica died Saturday, March 24, 2001, in the shock trauma unit of the University of Maryland. He was 20.
Mr. Ward graduated in 1998 from Lake Forest High School, where he was very active in soccer, earning second team all-Henlopen Conference honors as a goalie while only a sophomore. He also played four years of baseball.
He was a junior at High Point University in North Carolina where he was an education major. His focus was on social studies with aspirations of becoming a college professor. During the fall semester of this past year, he was a foreign exchange student, studying in Oxford, England at Westminster University.
He had a very positive outlook on everything and was a very fun-loving individual who enjoyed being with his friends and spending time with his family.
Mr. Ward was a member of the Felton United Methodist Church
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, William L. Ward; and his maternal grandparents, Peter B. and Margaret S. Rennie.
He is survived by his parents, Randall L. Ward and June R. Ward of Frederica; two brothers, Sean Ward and Ryan Ward of Frederica; his paternal grandmother, Bette Ward of Newark; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Highway, in Harrington.
Service will be 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the Rev. Philip Lawton will officiate.
Burial will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Doris E. Wilson, 72
GEORGETOWN - Doris E. Wilson of Georgetown died Sunday, March 25, 2001, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. She was 72.
Mrs. Wilson was a nurse's aid and dietician at Milford Manor for 10 years, retiring in 1981.
She enjoyed word puzzles, flowers, and yard sales.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford K. Wilson.
She is survived by five sons and four daughters-in-law, Donald L. and Joyce Wilson Sr., Charles L. and Gayle Wilson, Richard and Sue Wilson, Delbert R. and Brenda Wilson, and Charles L. Esham all of Georgetown; a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Dale Austin of Georgetown; two brothers, Russell Conaway of Georgetown and Dale Conaway of Millsboro; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Kenny Lingo of Rehoboth Beach; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a step-great-grandchild.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market Street in Georgetown, where friends may call two hours prior to service.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
Gladys May Amend, 64
LONG NECK - Gladys May Amend of Long Neck died Monday, March 24, 2003, in her home. She was 64.
Mrs. Amend was born in Hanover, Pa., daughter of the late Lester and Esther Hilker.
She was a homemaker.
She is survived by her husband, Henry J. Amend; four sons; three stepchildren; ten grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Conley's Chapel, Angola.

Ronald Donovan, 67
LEWES - Ronald Donovan of Lewes died Tuesday, March 25, 2003, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 67.
Mr. Donovan was born in Lewes, son of the late Walter Donovan Sr. and Fanny Prettyman Donovan.
He graduated from Lewes High School in 1952.
Mr. Donovan and his loving wife, Pat enjoyed 40 years of marriage highlighted by children, grandchildren and vacations with loving friends. Fond memories of the years spent as a coach with Lewes Little League and as a proud Cape Henlopen parent and spectator of field hockey, soccer, football, basketball, baseball and softball were meant to continue as he looked forward to sharing in all the future endeavors of his beloved grandchildren.
After serving six years in the United States Coast Guard, Mr. Donovan was honorably discharged and began a 35-year career in public service for the town of Lewes. Appointed the town's first city manager in 1969, he was later named general manager of the board of public works in 1982 and served in that capacity until his retirement in 1997.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Walter J. Donovan, Jr.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Mark Markovic of Crofton, Md.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Lisa Donovan of Middletown and Tom and Susan Donovan of Brewster, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Caroline, Lorin, Dylan, Kyle, Katelyn and Tyler and beloved children Jake and Logan Mathews; a sister, Hester Dymond of Newport News, Va.; and life-long friends and family including nieces Jen McGaffin, Amy Ludwig, Meredith Luizetti and nephews Neil Hohmann, Bill James and Robert and Ronald Dymond.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday in the Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
Burial with military honors will be at Henlopen Memorial Park, near Milton.
