Mary Phipps Ivie, 77
ROCK HALL, Md. - Mary Phipps Ivie of Rock Hall, formally of Baltimore, died Monday, Jan. 1., 2001, in her home. She was 77.
Mrs. Ivie was born Dec. 1, 1923, the daughter of the late S. Howard and Mary (Weaver) Phipps.
She spent her formative years in the Baltimore area.
Mrs. Ivie attended Easton & Burnett School for Business in Baltimore.
In 1946, she married Warren E.K. Ivie and moved to Rock Hall in 1956, where they raised their family.
During her working years, she worked part time for Forney's Jewelers in Chestertown.
Mrs. Ivie was very family orientated and was very active in the Rock Hall Elementary School P.T.A., where she had served as their president for a period of time. She was also very active in St. Paul's Church in Chestertown where she served on the Alter Guild and in the Episcopal Women's .
She enjoyed participating in family activities and especially loved being with her children and grandchildren. In her spare time, she and her husband enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Mrs. Ivie was a member of the Goose Hill Homemakers Club and in 1981 was Homemaker of the Year for Kent County.
In addition to her husband of 54 years, she is survived by a son, Kendall Ivie of Oak Ridge, Tenn.; a daughter, Aleta Ledendecker of Lewisville, Tenn.; a brother-in-law, Irvin Tillman of Rock Hall; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Hollyday of Ocean Pines; a very special friend, Jaci Senger of Rock Hall, and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Chestertown.
Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery following church services.
Arrangements by Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Rock Hall.

James Leroy Monroe, 54
AURORA, Colo. - James Leroy Monroe of Aurora died of natural causes Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, in his home. He was 54.
Mr. Monroe was born July 27, 1946, in Sandy Bottom, Md., the son of Daisy and Howard Monroe.
He was educated at Garnett School and Queen Anne's County High School.
Mr. Monroe served in the U.S. Army for 17 years.
He subsequently worked for the U.S. Postal Service.
Mr. Monroe loved music.
He is survived by two brothers, Nelson Martin and Robert Monroe, both of Millington; and three sisters, Shirley Black and Elizabeth Burgess, both of Millington, and Dorothy Monroe-Murray of Chestertown.
Service will be noon Saturday at Mount Pleasant U.M.E. Methodist Church, Pondtown, with the Rev. Mae Etta Moore officiating.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to: P.O. Box 64, Still Pond, MD 21667.

Elisha Mae Parsons, 66
ELLENDALE - Elisha Mae Parsons of Ellendale died of heart failure Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 66.
Ms. Parsons was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Bloxom, Va.
She worked in a factory.
Ms. Parsons was a member of the Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, Ellendale.
She is survived by a sister, Frances Drummond of Ellendale and several nephews, nieces and friends.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Mount Zion A.M.E. Church, Ellendale, where friends may call two hours prior to service.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Arrangements are made by Young's Funeral Home, Milford.

June W. Peer
DOVER - June W. Peer of Dover died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, in her home with family and friends.
Mrs. Peer was born April 20, 1935, in Ewing, Va., the daughter of the late Burrell and Ethel (Seale) Bays.
She worked at Playtex in Dover for 20 years of service.
She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
Mrs. Peer was a member of Capital City Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by a brother, James Bays, and two granddaughters, Angel and Desre Evans.
She is survived by her husband of 15 years. John P. Peer Sr. of Dover; a son, Donald Evans of Dover; two daughters, Rhonda Lynch of Galena, Md., and Sue Outten of Newark; four sisters, Nita Giles of Benton, Ky., Tryphena Stanley of Kettering, Ohio, Wanda McKinley, and Fern Myers, both of Bradenton, Fla.; four stepchildren, Marie Hand of Little Creek, Jeannie Hastings of Magnolia, John Peer Jr. of Little Creek, and Candy Breeding of Rising Sun; eight grandchildren, Serena Pelletier, Sarah Pelletier, John-Paul Pelletier, Debra Ryan, Barry Ryan, Elizabeth Evans, John Evans, and Andrew Evans; eight step grandchildren, Richard Hand Jr., Timothy Hand, Joe Masten, Jr., Karen Masten, Jeff Peer, David Peer, Tommy Walston, Nathan Walston; three great-grandchildren, Adrien Pelletier, Josh Thompson, and Jordan Thrash; and three step great-grandchildren, Brandi Peer, Justice and Makayla Wright, and Lauren Hand.
A Celebration of Life service will be 6 p.m. today at the Capital City Church of Christ, Rt. 10, Camden.

Shirley A. Pruder, 65
FALLSTON, Md. - Shirley A. Pruder of Honolulu, Hawaii, formerly of Newark and Lewes, Del., died suddenly Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, in her daughter's home. She was 65.
Mrs. Pruder was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of the late J.R. and Rita Bullington.
She graduated from the University of Detroit in 1954.
She worked as a dental hygienist for Bruce Wright D.D.S. in Lewes, later at the Kaneohe Marine Base Clinic, Kaneohe, Hawaii, and the Pearl Harbor Naval Base Clinic in Aiea, Hawaii. She retired in 1997.
After retirement, Mrs. Pruder taught adults to read. She also traveled extensively worldwide.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gary D. Pruder, Ph.D.; a daughter Leslie Lazzeri and her husband, Joel Lazzeri of Fallston; a son, Curtis Pruder of Honolulu; a brother, Gary Bullington of Bellevue, Wash.; and two grandchildren, Kristin and Katie of Fallston.
Service was held Saturday, Dec. 30, in Fallston.
A burial service will be held at a future date in Honolulu.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to: the Hawaiian Humane Society, 2700 Waialae Ave., Honolulu, HI 96826-1899.

Rosalie M. 'Nana Rosalie' Rounds, 72
FREDERICA - Rosalie M. "Nana Rosalie" Rounds of Frederica died after a short illness Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2001. She was 72.
Mrs. Rounds was born Aug. 28, 1928, in Brockton, Mass., the daughter of the late Louis and Blanche Vanderstreet.
She retired in August of 1993 and moved to Frederica with her son and his family.
Mrs. Rounds retired from the Brockton School Department as a secretary in data processing. She also worked at Athertons Furniture Co. and Bridgewater State Prison.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rounds, in Sept. 1977.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Paul D. and Kathy A. Butler Jr. of Frederica; two daughters, Jean M. Dube of Cranston, R.I., and Donna A. Butler Mascio and her husband, Anthony Mascio of Cumberland; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Louis and Phyllis Vanderstreet of Humarock, Mass., and Donald and Susan Vanderstreet of Brockton, Mass.; two granddaughters, Jean Lubinsky and her husband Kevin of Blackstone, Mass., and Jamie Lee Butler, Frederica; and two great-grandsons, Adam and Kyle Lubinsky of Blackstone and her "Delaware Family", Tammie Comfort and her children, Katie Comfort and Michael Murphy, James and Diana Hanes and their children, Dillon and Taylor, and Elwin and Bernice Hanes.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Torbert Funeral Chapel South Rt. 10, Dover, friends may call one hour prior to service.
Memorial Service will be held in the Spring in Brockton, Mass.
Burial will be private.

Dorothy M. Sanders, 80
MILLVILLE - Dorothy M. Sanders of Millville died Monday, Jan. 1, 2001, in Harbor Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Lewes. She was 80.
She is survived by her son, Gary Wayne Sanders of Frederica.
Arrangements will be private.

Albert 'Butch' Harris Sr., 51
MAGNOLIA - Albert "Butch" Harris Sr. of Magnolia died Friday, April 4, 2003, in his home. He was 51.
Mr. Harris was born July 31, 1951, son of the late Anna Mae Scarborough.
He received his education in the Caesar Rodney School District.
He was employed with A to Z Construction. Earlier he held various construction jobs, but his first love was driving trucks.
Mr. Harris had a passion and love for cars, too. When he was younger, he enjoyed racing them with his many family and friends. He will be remembered for his big heart, infectious laugh, loud mouth and his willingness to do anything for anyone at any time.
He is survived by a stepfather, Edward Scarborough of Frederica; a daughter, Shonetesha L. Quail of Magnolia; two sons, Albert C. Harris Jr. of Smyrna and Demetrius L. Harris of Dover; a daughter-in-law, Catrina E. Harris of Dover; three grandchildren, Andrea L. Wisher, Tiana J. Harris and Ahmad Harris; two godchildren, Talisha Pitts and Steven Jordan; three sisters, Sylvia Williams of California, Nadine Scarborough of Frederica and Annette Scarborough of Dover; five brothers, Joe Harris of Harrington, Tolbert Harris, Roger Scarborough and Edwin "Wes" Scarborough, all of Dover, and Victor Scarborough of Newark; a lifetime friend, Gail Price of Dover; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be noon Saturday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Sharon Hill Cemetery, Dover.

Barbara Ballard Harris, 71
HAMPTON, Va. - Barbara Ballard Harris of Hampton, formerly of Dover, Del., died Friday, April 4, 2003. She was 71.
Mrs. Harris was born in Cambridge, Ohio, and grew up in Clayton, Del. She moved to the northern Virginia area with her husband, where she raised four children.
She had a successful and much-enjoyed professional career as a technical librarian until her retirement, when she moved back to Delaware to be with her family. She then moved to Hampton in January of this year to be near her daughter. She was loved by many and will be missed.
She is survived by her two daughters and sons-in-laws, Cindy and Bill Ogle of Hampton and Gwen and Jim Owens of Moravian Falls, N.C.; her two sons, Charles Harris Jr. of Falls Church and Guy Harris of Rancho Santo Margarita, Calif.; three sisters and their husbands, Jeanine and Tom James of Dover, Mass., Debbie and Jack Isaacs of Wilmington, Del., and Donna and Bruce Ballard of Smyrna, Del.; and her grandchildren, Dawn Phillips of Moravian Falls and Becky Ogle, Kevin Ogle, and Greg Ogle, all of Newport News.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions in Hampton, where a personal reflections will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Peninsula Memorial Park.

Acquanetta Faith Horsey, 48
MILTON - Acquanetta Faith Horsey of Milton died of a long illness with sickle cell anemia Tuesday, April 8, 2003, in Lewes Convalescent Center, Lewes. She was 48.
Ms. Horsey was born March 3, 1955, in Wilmington, daughter of the late Cordelia Everett Tucker. She was raised in Laurel.
She attended school in the Laurel School District.
She was a faithful soul mate, mother and grandmother. She loved her family, who affectionately called her Nettie, Mom and Mom Mom.
Ms. Horsey enjoyed fishing, word puzzles and caring for her grandchildren.
She is survived by her soul mate of 20 years, Wellington O. (Buddy) Hicks III; two daughters and a son-in-law, Garstina Wright and David Geyer and Hope L. Horsey; five grandchildren, Tyreik Horsey, Selex Horsey, Jacqueline Ellison, Jasmine Wright and David Geyer Jr., all of Millsboro; a dear uncle, Robert Everette of Millsboro; an aunt, Lucille Everette of Laurel; the father and beloved sisters of Buddy, Wellington O. Hicks Jr. of Lewes, Denise Hicks Barnes of Dover, Trudina Hicks Mifflin, and her husband, Brian Mifflin, of Magnolia, and Charlene Hicks Moore, and her husband, William Moore, of Hampton, Va.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, Slaughter Neck, where friends may call two hours earlier. The Rev. L.D. Jamison will officiate.
Burial will be in Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.

Richard E. 'Dick' Koch, 66
HENDERSON, Md. - Richard E. "Dick" Koch of Henderson died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in his home. He was 66.
Mr. Koch was born Sept. 3, 1936, in Maiden Creek Township, Pa., son of the late Eugene Koch and Edna Moll Koch.
He was self-employed as a canvas man.
He enjoyed hunting, snowmobiling, NASCAR, wrestling, baseball, football and all of the grandchildren's activities.
Mr. Koch was a member of Spritzers Hunting Camp and the Pennsylvania Snowmobile Association.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Koch, on April 26, 1989 and a sister, Dolly Renninger.
He is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gene and Rhonda Koch of Hartly and Kevin Koch, and his friend, Kena, of North East; a daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Jerry Bartlett of Dover, Del.; and eight grandchildren, Raymond E. Koch, Ronald E. Koch and Robert E. Koch, all of Schuykill Haven, Pa., Roy E. Koch of St. Clair, Pa., and Shirley Kenderdine, Auburn and Gloria Reiner, all of Tower City, Pa.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Crouch Funeral Home, 127 S. Main St., North East.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. The Rev. Don Howard of Calvary Baptist Church, Clayton.
Burial will be in Galena Cemetery, Galena.

Spc. Ryan P. Long, 21
SEAFORD - Spc. Ryan P. Long of Seaford was killed Thursday, April 3, 2003, near Baghdad, Iraq. He was 21.
Spc. Long was a 1999 graduate of Seaford High School and entered the U.S. Army in September 1999.
He is survived by his parents, Maj. Rudolf "Rudy" and Donna Long; a brother, Matthew Christopher Long of Georgetown; his maternal grandmother, Ruth Ann Ertel of Glen Haven, Wis.; three aunts, Joyce Mumm of Cassville, Wis., Diane Meyer of Verona, Wis., and Teresa Jaynes of Prairie du Chien, Wis.; and his girlfriend, Erin Staggs of Milledgeville, Ga.
Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Stein Highway, Seaford, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Gockel Cemetery, Glen Haven, Wis.

Milton Eugene Tingle, 53
DAGSBORO - Milton Eugene Tingle of Dagsboro died Tuesday, April 8, 2003, in Beebe Medical center, Lewes. He was 53.
Mr. Tingle was born in Lewes, son of Helen Mae Stevens of Dagsboro and the late Milton E. Tingle.
He was formerly employed in the hatchery division of Townsend's Inc. in Millsboro.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a brother, Martin Dean Tingle of Dagsboro; a sister, Darlene M. Short of Dagsboro; a nephew who was a caregiver for Milton, Richard James Tingle of Dagsboro.
Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Robert Hudson will officiate.
Burial will be in Bethel Church Cemetery near Willards, Md.

Stefan Winiarczyk, 55
MILLSBORO - Stefan Winiarczyk of Millsboro died Wednesday, April 9, 2003, in his home. He was 55.
Mr. Winiarczyk was born in Malbork, Poland, son of the late Bazyli Winiarczyk and Katareyna Winiarczyk.
He was the owner of a business, Peninsula Surveying and Site Design in Millsboro.
Mr. Winiarczyk had been a member of Sussex Pines Rotary Club, Georgetown.
He is survived by his wife, Donna Hart Winiarczyk; two daughters, Teena Winiarczyk of Bear and Jessica Winiarczyk of Rising Sun, Md.; two sons, Richard Winiarczyk of Rising Sun and Benjamin Winiarczyk of Middletown; four brothers, Wladek Winiarczyk of Poland, Bogdan Winiarczyk, Erast Winiarczyk and Adam Winiarczyk, all of Minneapolis; a sister, Bogusia Winiarczyk of Souderton, Pa.; and three grandchildren, Drew, Connor and Eric Winiarczyk.
Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Sunday in Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Douglas Albert will officiate.

Joseph John Barishek, 79
FREDERICK, Md. - Joseph John Barishek of Frederick, and formerly of College Park, and more recently of Lewes, Del., died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, in the Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore. He was 79.
Mr. Barishek was born March 10, 1922, in Philadelphia, the son of the late Jules and Anelia Barishek.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during World War II.
Mr. Barishek was a member of St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Frederick, and formerly a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Lewes, Del. where he served as an usher. He was also a member of the Amvets, Post 2 in Frederick, the Marine League, the FSK American Legion Post 11 in Frederick, and the Veterans of Foreign War in Lewes, Del.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Rosemary O'Hagan Barishek; his daughters and their husbands, Carol and Del Rollison of Middletown, Del. and Linda and Jerry McNabb of Flint, Mich.; five grandchildren, Michelle Gamba and her husband, John of Frederick, Micheal Rollison and his fiancé, Dana Maher of Baltimore, Jennifer McNabb of Boulder, Colo., Jane McNabb of Belleville, Mich., and Justin Rollison and his wife, Kimberly of College Park; two great-grandchildren, Owen and Cole Gamba; his siblings, Olga Zaiko, Elsie Oliver, John Barishek and his wife, Mary, and Michael Barishek, all of Philadelphia.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, 106 East Church St. in Frederick.
Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, East Second Street in Frederick. Father Keith Bosivert will celebrate the mass.
Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

Scott Bland, 58
LEWES - Scott Bland of Lewes died suddenly Monday, April 9, 2001, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 58.
Mr. Bland was the owner and operator of the Henlopen Body Shop, Lewes for the past 20 years.
He enjoyed working and snow skiing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Miriam Bland.
He is survived by a son, Shawn Scott Bland of Lewes and a brother, Thomas Bland of Juno, Fla.
Service will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 2nd Street, Lewes, with Fr. Douglas Culton officiating.
Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery-Pilottown Road, Lewes.
