Doris Holloway Moore, 91
REHOBOTH BEACH - Doris Holloway Moore of Rehoboth Beach died Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, in the Methodist Manor House, Seaford, where she had been a resident. She was 91.
Mrs. Moore was born in 1909 in Frankford.
She graduated from the Beebe Hospital School of Nursing in 1930.
Mrs. Moore moved to Rehoboth Beach as a bride in 1933, and in 1939, she and her husband established Moore's Drug Store in the Arcade Building in the first block of Rehoboth Avenue.
In the late 1940s they built the Moore Building on Rehoboth Avenue at Second Street and moved the drugstore to that location. Moore's Drug Store closed in 1979. At the time of its closing, the store was one of the oldest family-operated businesses in Rehoboth Beach.
Mrs. Moore was an active member of Epworth Methodist Church, Sussex Gardeners, The Daughters of the American Revolution, the Village Improvement Association, where she held many local and regional offices, and the Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club where she enjoyed playing golf well into her 80s.
She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Carlton Moore; a sister, Evelyn H. Farens; and her two brothers, Frank and Louis Holloway.
She is survived by a daughter, Carole M. White and her husband, F. Grove of Bon Air, Va.; her twin sons, William Moore and his wife, Barbara of Pinehurst, N.C., and Bob Moore and his wife, Dee of Rehoboth Beach; her life was enriched by her nine grandchildren, Liz White, Mindi Carter, Nancy Weeks, Pat Forsythe and Kimberly, Chad, Gregory, Moore, and J.B. Moore; and 10 great grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Epworth United Methodist Church, 20 Baltimore Avenue, Rehoboth Beach, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Epworth Methodist Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach.

Cassie Ohler, 88
GOLDSBORO, Md. - Cassie Ohler of Goldsboro, formerly of Baltimore, died of natural causes Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. She was 88.
Mrs. Ohler was born Nov. 23, 1912 in Gilley, Va., the daughter of the late John P. and Arminda Sturgill.
She was a graduate of Flat Gap High School and attended Emory & Henry College.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Ohler was a member of the Shrine of the Little Flower in Baltimore.
She was preceded in death by five brothers, Calvin, Roy, Ernest, Sidney and Watson Sturgill; three sisters, Vadna Cole, Mary Haynes and Naomi Shortt; and her first husband, Henry Ernest Bolling who died Sept. 26, 1940.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Charles E. Ohler; a daughter and son-in-law, A. Janet and Charles E. Johnson of Goldsboro; a son and daughter-in-law, Ernest N. and Mary E. Bolling of Sedalia, Miss.; a sister, Carrie Adams of Middletown, Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren' and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Benedicts Catholic Church, Ridgely, Md., where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be private.

W. Roland Towers Sr., 80
HOBBS - W. Roland Towers Sr. of Hobbs, near Denton, Md., died of respiratory heart failure Saturday, January 20, 2001, in the Caroline Nursing Home, Denton. He was 80.
Mr. Towers was born in Hobbs, the son of the late Thomas Houston Towers and Bertie Mae Adams Towers.
He graduated from Caroline High School in 1937.
Mr. Towers was a World War II veteran, having served in the South Pacific.
In 1945, he married Norma Lee Morgan.
In 1962, he founded the Towers Vault Co., which became Towers Concrete and Hobbs Contractors in 1988.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, William R. Towers and his wife, Gail, Thomas Towers and his wife, Donna, Dan Towers and Jeff' Towers and his wife Jennie, all of Hobbs; seven grandchildren, Chrissy Breeding, Michele Bodine, Julia McNeil, Rhiannon Towers, Alex Towers, Ian Towers, Jordan Towers; and six great grandchildren.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A., 12 S. Second St., in Denton, where friends may call one hour prior to service.
Burial will be in Denton Cemetery, Denton.

John J. Watson Jr., 58
TOWNSEND - John J. Watson of Townsend died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2001, in his home. He was 58.
Mr. Watson was born in Philadelphia, the son of Isabella Renner of Harrisburg, Pa., and the late John J. Watson Sr.
He was a Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1960-1965. He served in the Bay of Pigs during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1961.
He was employed as an electrical engineer by General Motors since 1965, Wilmington.
Mr. Watson was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and the American Legion 14, both of Smyrna.
He enjoyed fishing and crabbing from his boat on the Chester River in Maryland.
He is preceded in death by a brother, James Watson, who died in 1968.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Elizabeth R. "Betty" Watson of Townsend; a daughter, Dawn Marie Watson, of Dover; three sons, John J. Watson III, of Christiana, Douglas J. Watson Sr., of Townsend and Gerard Riccardi of Dover; two brothers, Ed Dover of Wilmington and Michael Kochanek of Jasper, Texas; five sisters, Pat Dooley of Elkton, Md., Jennie Griffith of Harrisburg, Pa., Barbara Barnett of Shinglehouse Pa., Jeannette Faber of West Chester, Pa. and Margaret Mueller of Stamford, Conn; a godson, Christopher Vernon of West Grove, Pa.; four grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Mary Louise Selich, 67
DOVER - Marv Louise Selich of Dover died of a heart attack Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001. She was 67.
Mrs. Selich was born in Johnstown, Pa., the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Torina.
Mrs. Selich graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Johnstown, and later received her B.S.
in nursing from Wilmington College.
She retired from the Capital School District, where she served at the Central Middle School and at the time of her death she was serving part-time at the Elizabeth W. Murphey School in Dover. She also served on the Child Placement Review Board, a position appointed by the governor, prior to her retirement.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Selich, in 1985.
She is survived by two daughters, Kate Selich of Glen Ridge, N.J., and Amy Selich-Basualdo of San Diego; two sisters, Ann Sherbine of Johnstown, and Jo Arlene Klanchar of Johnstown; and a grandson, Alexander Joseph. Basualdo of San Diego.

Edna B. Campbell, 90
DAGSBORO - Edna B. Campbell of Dagsboro died Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, in the Millsboro Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Millsboro. She was 90.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Millsboro, the daughter of the late John Alfred and Gertie E. Layton Brittingham.
She worked in the cafeteria at the former John M. Clayton High School/Indian River High School in Frankford for 15 years, retiring in 1975.
Mrs. Campbell was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Dagsboro and a former member of the church's United Methodist Women.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Wilson E. Campbell Sr.; a son, Wilson "Bill" E. Campbell Jr. of Millsboro; a daughter, Nancy E. Campbell of Dagsboro; a grandson, John "Tony" A. Campbell of Selbyville; and a dear friend, Lynn Baker of Millsboro.
Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Dagsboro Redmen's Memorial Cemetery, Dagsboro, with the Rev. Bonnie Shively officiating.

Tyrone ‘Bone' Anthony Jolley, 44
HURLOCK, Md. - Tyrone "Bone" Anthony Jolley of Hurlock died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2001, in his home. He was 44.
Mr. Jolley was born April 7, 1956, in Dorchester County, the son of Geneva Jolley Davis and the late Clarence Edward Davis Sr.
He was educated in the Dorchester County School system. He was known in school for his left-hand shot in basketball.
Mr. Jolley worked in several factories until his health failed him.
Tyrone, known as "Bone" to everyone, was a well-mannered young man and was polite to everyone. He would help anyone he could.
He loved his family in his own way.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a loving daughter, Kiesha Lankford of White Haven; two brothers, Frederick Jolley of Hawaii and Clarence Davis of Cambridge; a sister, Wanda Justice of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Marcus Holland Jr. and Marciesha Holland, both of White Haven; a cousin, Willie P. Parker (raised with him as a brother) of Philadelphia; a brother-in-law, the Rev. Lester Justice of Salisbury; three nieces, Tywanda Jolley and Tyshera Watson of Cambridge and Amber Justice of Salisbury; an uncle, Edward Jolley Sr. of Hurlock; an aunt, Iris Williams of Hurlock; a great aunt and uncle, Cleo and Richard Kemp of Hurlock; and a host of cousins and extended family and friends.

Anthony S. 'Tony' Liberto, 88
DOVER - Anthony S. "Tony" Liberto of Dover died March 28, 2001, in Capitol Nursing Home, Dover, after a long illness. He was 88.
Mr. Liberto was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and moved to Marydel in his teen-age years. Later, in his 20s, he moved to Dover.
He worked at the hosiery mill, then in carpentry, building homes in the Edgehill area. He later worked in civil service at Dover Air Force Base in charge of the woodwork/hobby shop, until his retirement in 1979.
Many years were spent at the beach with friends and family fishing and clamming. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Agnes A. Heller Liberto, in 1958; his second wife, Helen H. Larrimore, in 1991; and a grandson, Travis Draper, in 1999.
He is survived by a son and his wife, Anthony J. and Sandra Liberto; three daughters, Frances Barclay of Casper, Wyo., Linda MacMillan of Milford and Patricia Bolig of Wilmington; 12 grandchildren, Michael Liberto, Jeffrey Liberto, Joseph Liberto, Kelly MacMillan, Susan Lehto, Stacie Eigenbrode, Trisha Eigenbrode, Dino Davis, Aaron Davis, Shane Draper and Austin Draper; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Alma Louise Conaway Cain, 75
HURLOCK, Md. - Alma Louise Conaway Cain of Hurlock died of natural causes Friday, March 23, 2001, in Dorchester General Hospital, Cambridge. She was 75.
Mrs. Cain was born Feb. 14, 1926, in East New Market, the daughter of the late Alma Jackson Conaway and James Herman Conaway.
She attended East New Market School.
She worked in various factories and did some domestic work in places such as Florida, Indiana and Maryland. She returned home and worked at Shoregood Poultry in Hurlock, until her health failed.
Mrs. Cain attended East New Market Mount Zion Union Methodist Church, when she was a young girl.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Hattie Stanley, Pauline Baltimore and Lula Cornish; and four brothers, James Conaway, Allen Conaway, Jessie Conaway and Charles Conaway.
She is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Lee Conaway and Ruth Conaway Stanley, both of Rhodesdale; a brother, Algie Conaway of Vienna; a brother-in-law, Moses Stanley; a sister-in-law, Sedonia Conaway; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Larry Lee Bishop Sr., 61
GOLDSBORO, Md. - Larry Lee Bishop Sr. of Goldsboro died natural causes Tuesday, March 27, 2001, in Felton. He was 61.
Mr. Bishop was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Pennsylvania, son of the late Robert and Hazel Davis Bishop Sr.
He moved to this area 23 years ago from Glen Burnie.
He was self-employed at Larry's Compactor Service in Felton.
Mr. Bishop enjoyed spending time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Rodney Bishop on Oct. 24, 1999; a brother, Robert Bishop; and a sister, Joan Bishop.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Gertrude Bishop; six sons, Larry Bishop Jr. of Jarretsville, Dennis Bishop of Hurlock, Larry Bishop III of Quantico, Thomas Bishop of Henderson, Jason Bishop of Goldsboro and David Bishop of Stevensville; a daughter, Margaret Fawdree of Glen Burnie; a sister, Betty Johnson of Pasadena; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Ronald E. Rogers, 52
DENTON, Md. - Ronald E. Rogers of Denton died Monday, March 26, 2001, in his home. He was 52.
Mr. Rogers was born in Patton, Pa., son of Rita Niebauer Rogers of Denton, and the late Santo Eugene Rogers.
He was an U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam era.
Mr. Rogers was a field engineer for industry, working at Raytheon Systems for the past three years.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Brenda S. Rogers of St. Michaels; a son, Jason E. Rogers of Norfolk, Va.; a daughter, Brittany Rogers of St. Michaels; and a grandson, Zachary Eugene Rogers.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth's Roman Catholic Church, First Street in Denton.

Charles E. Turner Sr., 73
MILLSBORO - Charles E. Turner Sr. of Millsboro died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in his home near Millsboro, surrounded by his devoted and loving family. He was 73.
Mr. Turner was born in Philadelphia, the son of Edward and Ada Pollitt Turner.
He was retired and was a World War II veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife, Leona Miller Turner; five children, Jack Turner, and his wife, Cheryl, of Wilmington; Sheila Disanto, and her husband, Richard, of Cuba, Charles E. Turner Jr., and his wife, Emily, of Lewes, Richard Turner, and his wife, Carolyn, of Lewes, Sharon Fawcett, and her husband, Scott, of Millsboro; three brothers, Norris Turner of Newark, William Turner of New Castle and Paul Turner of Hartly; a sister, Dorothy Andrews of New Castle; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

DAGSBORO - Eva Mae McCabe of Dagsboro died Wednesday, March 28, 2001, in her home. She was 89.
Mrs. McCabe was born in Frankford, daughter of the late Henry H. Hudson and Della Mumford.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. McCabe was a member of Hickory Hill Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John F. McCabe, in 1999; and two sons, Preston A. (Zeke) McCabe in 1999 and John Edward McCabe in 1978.
She is survived by a son, Richard McCabe of Selbyville; two daughters, Della M. Hitchens of Millsboro and Patsy M. Moore of Georgetown; a daughter-in-law, Patricia McCabe of Dagsboro; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
