Nelson. Verma Della –– Wilmington. Died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at age 76, at St. Francis Hospital, Wilmington. She lived most of her adult life in Wilmington, and became a member of Christ Our King Church, which she faithfully attended. Locally survived by a sister, Florence A. Woodall of Star Hill. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Park, Dover.

Porter, William H. ‘Billy’ –– Harrington. Died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2003, at age 60, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was a Delaware State Trooper, and worked for the State Police for 26 years, retiring in 1998. He served as mayor of Harrington for three years and as city manager, also for three years. He also was a member of the Retired Troopers Association. Survived by his wife, Brenda Moffett Porter. Locally survived by Cpl. Billie Joe Porter of Felton. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Trotter, Myrtle L. –– Lincoln. Died of heart failure Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at age 80, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. Locally survived by a daughter, Betty Trotter of Magnolia. Burial was in Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.

Walsh, Doris H. –– Milford, formerly of Governeur, N.Y. Died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at age 87, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She worked at various funeral homes in New York. She was a member of the Century Club and Avenue Methodist Church while residing in Milford. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery.

Albia, Nicholas G. Sr. –– Clayton. Died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at age 79, in his home. Survived by his wife, Anna DiRocco Albia. Services were held Monday, Aug. 12, at Faries Funeral Chapel, Smyrna. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.

Corea, Robert Lee Jr. –– New Castle. Died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at age 44. He was a machinist in his early years. Locally survived by a brother, Mark Corea of Camden. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, with Chaplain Tom Freysz officiating. Burial will be private. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.

Marabella, Frank D. –– Newark, formerly of Winchester, Mass. Died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at age 80, of complications from lung cancer. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he retired as a command sergeant major in 1965. Most recently, he worked on the security team at Widener University. Survived by his companion of 20 years, Theresa Sartin of Newark. Locally survived by a daughter, Karen Whiteman of Dover. Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday, Aug. 12, at St. John the Beloved Church, Sherwood Park, Wilmington. Burial with military honors was in All Saints Cemetery.

Mathis, Elwood James ‘Woody’ Sr. –– Smyrna. Died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at age 57, in Christiana Care Center, Newark. He was an employee of the Greggo Farrara Trucking Co. for 28 years. Locally survived by a sister, Anna Mae Edwards of Dover. Services were held Saturday, Aug. 10, at the United House of Prayer for All People. Burial was in Green Acres Memorial Park.

Mullins, Mary E. ‘Missy’ Daisey –– Clayton. Died Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at age 33, in her home. She was employed as an assistant manager at the Dover Boscov’s. Survived by her husband, Greg Mullins of W.Va. Services were held Friday, Aug. 9, at Faries Funeral Home, Smyrna. Burial was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.

Shahan, Dawson ‘Doc’ Jr. –– Harrington. Died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at age 64, in his home. He was most recently a wastewater supervisor for the city of Seaford until 1995. Survived by his wife, Carol I. Shahan of Harrington. Locally survived by a son, Dawson Samuel “Sam” Shahan of Hartly; three sisters, Florence Kohout of Hartly, Beulah Boyles of Kenton, and Shirley Jarman of Dover. Services were held Saturday, Aug. 10, at Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington. Burial was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Short, Carolyn J. –– Hockessin. Died Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at age 62, at Christiana Hospital, Newark. She was very active in civic affairs. Survived by her husband of 39 years, David G.R. Short. Locally survived by a daughter, Jennifer S. Short of Dover. A memorial service was held Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Chandler Funeral Home, Hockessin.

Welch, Bonnie Lou –– Harrington, formerly of California, Ky. Died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2002, at age 49, in her home. She was a homemaker. Survived by her husband of 25 years, Michael E. Welch. Services were held Saturday, Aug. 10, at McKnatt Funeral Home, Harrington. Burial was in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.

Williamson, Fred –– Bridgeville. Died of cancer Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, at age 57, in Green Valley Terrace Nursing Home, Millsboro. He worked at the Rapa Scrapple plant, Bridgeville. Locally survived by a brother, David Williamson, and an aunt Josephine Benton, both of Felton. Services were held Friday, Aug. 9, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Bridgeville. Burial was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Milford.

Barnes, Grace M. – Milford. Died at age 80, Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at home. Private funeral services are planned. Arrangements are by the Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming.

Cooke, Florence M. – Smyrna. Died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Smyrna. Arrangements were by Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Smyrna.

Davenport, Robert O. – Clayton and Dunnellon, Fla. – Died at age 84 after a long illness Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. Locally survived by his daughter, Donna Lee Davenport Glisson of Felton. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Wilkes Barre, Pa. Arrangements were by Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home LLC, Middletown.

Johnson, June Elaine – Milford. Died at age 74, Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, at home. Services and interment will be at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are by the Lofland Funeral Home, Milford.

Kohel, Corinne Clogg – Milford, formerly of Harrington. Died at age 80, of complications of a stroke, Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2007, surrounded by her loving family at The Milford Center, Genesis Eldercare. Interment was in Henlopen Memorial Park, Milton.

Massey, Enos David – Bridgeville. Died at age 74, Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna. Locally survived by a brother, Raymond Massey of Camden; and three sisters, Sadie Massey, Elizabeth Cofer and Viola Massey, all of Camden. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, in the Victory Temple Church, Bridgeville. Interment will be in Middleford Cemetery.
