Clough, Mary Catherine Smyrna, formerly of Barclay, Md. Died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at age 79, in Westminster Village, Dover. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the funeral home of Fellows, Helfenbein and Newman, Millington, Md. Burial will be in the Busic Cemetery, Barclay.
Dupree, Minnie Lee Milton. Died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at the age of 74, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. Survived locally by a son, Curtis Riddick, of Dover. Burial was in Old Hickory Cemetery in Slaughter Neck.
Filmore, Calvin Windsor, Conn. Died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at age 89, at Hartford Connecticut Memorial Hospital, Harford. He owned the Filmore Trucking co. with his brother, Albert Filmore, in the Hartford area. Locally survived by a daughter, Lorettia Knowles of Dover. Burial was private.
Friedel, Elsie E. Conaway Seaford. Died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at age 88, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. Locally survived by a granddaughter, Saundra G. Moore of Dover; and a great-grandchild, Beau L. Moore of Dover. Burial was in Bridgeville Cemetery, Bridgeville.
Jackson, Ronald Leon Mac Bridgeville. Died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2003, at age 23. Survived locally by a sister, Letitia Kellam, of Dover. Burial was in the cemetery of St. John Second Baptist Church, Millsboro.
Jester, Robert J. Sr. Milford. Died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at age 75, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. He was a custodian for the Milford School District, retiring in 1978. Burial was in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, near Frederica.
McKendrick, Walter Bamford Jr. Anderson, S.C. Died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at age 89, at his home. He was employed in Dover with the state of Delaware highway department from 1936 to 1956. Survived by his wife, Ruth Vera Sue McKendrick. Burial was in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle.
Moore, Maude O. Millsboro. Died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at age 84, at her home. During World War II, she worked at the DuPont Company in Seaford where she made parachutes. Survived by her husband, Paul Moore. Locally survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Nathalie Moore of Camden. Burial was in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
Morris, Janet Lois Bradford Harrington. Died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2004, at age 87, at Milford Genesis Care Center, Milford. She worked at Johns Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore. Services will be held at noon Wednesday, Feb. 11, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington. Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
Snow, Ruth Joanna Smyrna. Died after a long illness Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at age 85, in the Silver Lake Center, Dover. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, in the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Millington, Md., where friends may call one hour earlier. Burial will be in the Gracelawn Cemetery, New Castle.
Walls, Naomi Ruth Smyrna. Died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2004, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She retired from the Wilmington Medical Center, now Wilmington Hospital. Locally survived by two daughters, Helen Carnell of Smyrna with whom she lived, and Joyce Walls of Clayton.
Wilson, Joseph Glenn Joe Harrington. Died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at age 41, at his home. He was an assistant coach of the Seaford High School track and field team and belonged to the Bricklayers Union Local 1. Survived by his wife of nine years, Marlene Ann Wilson. Locally survived by a sister, Belinda Knox of Felton. Burial was private.
Wise, Zedrick L. Jr., Millsboro. Died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2004, in Green Valley Nursing Home in Millsboro. Survived by his wife, Mary of Selbyville. Locally survived by a brother, Lester Wise of Felton. Burial was in Zoar Golden Acres, Bishop, Md.
Cade, Sylvia Ione Houston. Died Monday, Nov. 24, 2003, at age 88, at her home. She was a homemaker and taught Sunday school for 30 years. Survived by her husband, Alvin W. Cade. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Cornish, Matilda P. Brown Harrington. Died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at age 88, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. She worked in the cafeteria at both the W.T. Chipman School and Lake Forest High School. She attended the Pilgrim Chapel in Harrington and was a member of the Harrington Senior Center. Locally survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary and William Pippin of Felton. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
Craddock, Crystal Renee Milford. Died Thursday, Nov. 20, 2003, at age 32, in a car crash on Route 9 in Georgetown. She worked two jobs at Harbor Health and Lewes Convalescent Home. She faithfully attended Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church in Slaughter Neck. Survived by two children, Kelvin Lorne Price Jr. and Khiya Sakayla Price, both of Milford. Burial was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milford.
Hargett, Lula Mary Virginia Milford. Died Saturday, Nov. 22, 2003, at age 85, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford. Services were private.
Huff, Jay B. Harrington, formerly of Tyrone, Pa. Died Thursday, Nov. 27, 2003, at age 82, at Capitol Health Care Services, Dover. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran and received a Purple Heart. After leaving the army in 1945, he joined the U.S. Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. He then worked for the CIA until his retirement. Burial was in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
Hull, Purnell William Sidney Salisbury, Md. Died Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2003, at age 79, at Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury. He served his country in World War II, earning a Purple Heart. He later received degrees from Delaware State College (now University) in Dover, and ended his 30-year teaching career at William Henry Middle School. He had been a member of VFW Post 10159 for many years. Survived by his wife of 56 years, Agnes Purnell Hull. Burial was in Maryland Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Beulah, Md.
Joyner, Nathaniel Smyrna. Died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at age 68, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a factory worker. Survived by his wife, Maebell Joyner. Locally survived by a daughter-in-law, Gloria Jerigan-Brewer of Dover. Burial was in Mt. Calvary, Middleford.
Leitton, Kathleen R. Lewes, formerly of Bethel, Conn. Died Friday, Nov. 28, 2003, at age 80, at her home. She worked for 15 years as a lab technician for Viking Wire in Danbury, Conn. She was a Sunday school teacher for 38 years prior to moving to Delaware. She also volunteered in Lewes with nursing home ministries. Survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert David Leitton Sr. Locally survived by a son, the Rev. Robert Leitton of Dover. Burial was in Henlopen Memorial Park, near Milton.
