Stephanie Street-Rexroad

Remembrance services for Stephanie Street-Rexroad, 33, of Dover, were held Friday, Oct. 1, in Trader Funeral Home, Dover. Ms. Street-Rexroad died Monday, Sept. 27, 2004, in Dover.

Ms. Street-Rexroad was born Oct. 6, 1971, in Bad Windsheim, Germany, daughter of Michael and Gerda Held Street.

She was a homemaker and a loving mother who enjoyed being with her family. She touched many lives.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Emilie and Kurt Held.

She is survived by a son, James Rexroad of Dover; three daughters, Emilie Weiss, Christina Weiss and Katrina Weiss, all of Dover; a brother, Michael Street Jr. of Milford; a sister, Jasmin Street of Dover; paternal grandparents, Sherman and Doris Street of Dover; and a paternal grandparent, Irma Jackson of Frederica; and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, family and friends.

Burial was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

John Zamulinsky

John Zamulinsky, 84, of Camden, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, in his home.

He was born July 3, 1920, in Philadelphia, son of the late Frank and Helen Boyko Zamulinsky.

Mr. Zamulinsky served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and later worked for the railroad in the Delaware and Philadelphia area.

He loved his garden and canning foods.

Mr. Zamulinsky was preceded in death by his wife, Martha V. Gilbert Zamulinsky, in 1993.

He is survived by two nieces, Dee Averona of Philadelphia and Iren Moore of Aston, Pa.; and a sister-in-law, Jessie Zamulinsky of Lafayette, Pa.

Burial and services will be private.

Arrangements were by Trader Funeral Home Inc., Dover.

Sybil Hope ‘Sis’ Green Clark

Services for Sybil Hope “Sis” Green Clark, 57, of Dover were held Saturday, Aug. 7, at Second Baptist Church, Dover. Mrs. Clark died after a lengthy illness Friday, July 30, 2004, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.

Mrs. Clark was born June 30, 1947, in Salisbury, Md., daughter of Roxie C. Green, now of Dover, and the late Joscelyn C. Green.

She attended Wicomico County School District.

Mrs. Clark worked at Playtex for 10 years, until her back failed and she had to resign.

She was a lovable and well-rounded person. As a young adult, she took on her own wings and decided to challenge life. She moved to Dover in the late 1960s, where she was introduced to her husband-to-be by her Aunt Margie. The first words he said to her were, “I’m going to marry you.” He didn’t even know her name and he introduced her to everyone as Mrs. Clark. Before anyone knew it, they were married, had a family and were ready for whatever life had for them. She was loved by many and she most certainly touched the lives of everyone with whom she came into contact.

Introduced to God as a young child, Mrs. Clark attended Mount Enoch Holiness Church of Salisbury, and she sang faithfully in the children’s choir. Her favorite song was “I Must Be Born Again.” She rededicated her life to Christ in the early ’90s, and joined Second Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. John Bagley.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by a sister, Melva Renterta; and two brothers-in-law, George Clark and Cecil Clark.

In addition to her mother, Mrs. Clark is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Charles E. Clark Sr. of Dover; two sons and their wives, Thomas B. and Angela Green of New Jersey and Charles E. Clark Jr. and Cassandra Ford of Dover; a son of the heart, Orlando Thomas of Chestertown, Md.; and a daughter of the heart, Ellen Benson of Dover.

She also is survived by her mother-in-law, Helen Mosely of Dover; three brothers, Eugene J. Green of Baltimore and Lewis Rideout and Lavon Price, both of Salisbury; five brothers of the heart, Ray, Morris, Gordan, Snake and Donnie; four sisters, Rose B. Clark of Dover, Claudette Dashiell of Connecticut and Sheila Price and Shirley Merritt, both of Salisbury; and a sister of the heart, Tina Mitchell.

Mrs. Clark also is survived by six grandchildren, LaKisha, Theangelic, Saraa, Keiana, Marquis and Lmani; four brothers-in-law, Jimmy Clark, Ojay Smith, James Brinkley and Randy Jackson; five sisters-in-law, Sheila Green, Nancy Smith, Edna Brinkley, Mae Jackson and Linda White; a very dedicated aunt, Marjorie Carter; very special friends Diane Young, Esther Brown and Carol Stanley; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

Arrangements were by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.

Burial was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Eliza H. Wilson Glover

Funeral services for Eliza H. Wilson Glover, 74, of Felton were held Friday, Aug. 6, in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover. Mrs. Wilson died after a long illness Tuesday Aug. 3, 2004, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital.

Mrs. Glover was born March 23, 1930 in Glasgow, Scotland to the late John and Isabel Steadman Wilson.

She met her future husband Algie “Al” Glover in England during World War II, she moved to Ontario Canada and he moved to the United States. They dated for several years and then wed. They had been married for 50 years before he died Feb. 4, 2003.

She was a homemaker. She enjoyed the beach, dancing and especially being with her grandchildren.

Her brother Jack Wilson preceded her in death in April 2004.

Mrs. Glover is survived by a son, Paul B. Glover and his wife Linda of Harrington; a daughter, Cheryl Swan and her husband Christopher of Felton; five grandchildren, Derek B., Brett D, Glover and Zachary L., Christina and Cory Swan; and a good friend, Shelia Wade of Camden.

Interment was in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

Pauline ‘Miss Dot’ Gowens

Services for Pauline “Miss Dot” Gowens, 74, of Dover were held Saturday, Aug. 7, at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church, Dover. Mrs. Gowens died after a battle with cancer Saturday, July 31, 2004, at her home in the presence of her family.

Mrs. Gowens was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Millington, Md., daughter of the late William and Susie Ashley.

She attended Millington Elementary School and Garnett High in Chestertown, Md.

She worked at Playtex Apparel in Dover for 27 years until her retirement.

Mrs. Gowens was a faithful member of Mount Zion A.M.E. Church of Dover, where she was a member of the Helping Hand Club and served as secretary until her health began to fail.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard L. Gowens Sr.; five sisters; and two brothers.

She is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Agnes Pauline and James E. Summers of Dover; two sons, Bruce L. Gowens and Howard L. Gowens Jr., both of Dover; a daughter-in-law, Priscilla Gowens; two brothers and their wives, Bishop James A. and Rose Ashley of Dover and Clarence and Bernice Ashley of Millington; and a sister, Catherine Brown of Smyrna.

Mrs. Gowens also is survived by four grandchildren and the husband of one, Marlene and Ivan P. Shockley of Dover, Benjamin Gowens of North Carolina, Randall Gowens of Dover and Jasmine Gould of Smyrna; two great-grandchildren, Ivan P. Shockley III and Jaleel D. Shockley, both of Dover; three close friends, Deborah Howard, Felicia Minus, Bessie Pendleton, Jean Jones, Mary Doughty, Alice Parker and Jasmine Wall; and a host of nieces, nephews and other friends.

Arrangements were by Bennie Smith Funeral Home of Dover.

Burial was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.

Andreas ‘Andy’ Hanggi

Services for Andreas “Andy” Hanggi, 19, of Felton will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 11, at Calvary Assembly of God Church, Route 10, Dover. The Rev. Roland M. Coon will officiate. Mr. Hanggi died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Hanggi was born in Athens, Greece, son of Sandra Hanggi of Felton and Albert Hanggi of Camden.

He graduated in 2003 from Lake Forest High School and was attending Delaware Technical & Community College, Terry Campus, majoring in criminal justice. His goal was to be a member of the Delaware State Police.

While at Lake Forest High School, Mr. Hanggi participated in many activities and sports including football, baseball and wrestling. He was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies baseball team.

He had been employed during the summer by Quality Exteriors of Harrington.

Mr. Hanggi loved to go hunting and to race go-carts. He never knew a stranger. To know him, you had to love him. He was always smiling and cleaning his Ford pickup. He had a big heart and would do anything in the world for you.

He was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew and friend who put others before himself. He will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Hanggi is survived by his brothers, Bryan A. and Kristopher W. Hanggi of Felton, and Nathan B. Hanggi of Camden; his maternal grandparents, Barbara and Odell Scott of Naples, N.Y.; his paternal grandparents, Albert and Charlotte Hanggi of Naples; his girlfriend, Brandi McCloskey of Felton; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.

Carolina R. Hartley

A Mass of Christian Burial for Carolina R. Hartley, 95, of Magnolia was celebrated Monday, Aug. 9, at Holy Cross Church, Dover. Mrs. Hartley died Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2004, at Silver Lake Nursing Center, Dover.

Mrs. Hartley was born Feb. 9, 1909, in Lisbon, Portugal, daughter of the late Ramiro and Perpetua DaRosa DaGraca.

She worked as a restaurant cook in Portugal.

Mrs. Hartley retired in 1960 and moved to Philadelphia, where she lived until moving to Dover in 1998. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, traveling and being with her family at gatherings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Americo James Hartley; and a daughter, Maria D. Lourdes.

She is survived by a grandson and his wife, José M. and Maria Duarte of Magnolia; and three grandchildren, Christopher, Gabriel and Nicole, all of Magnolia.

Arrangements were by Torbert Funeral Chapels, Dover.

Burial was in Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

Avender Jones Sr.

Services for Avender Jones Sr., 93, of Dover were held Saturday, Aug. 7, at Blanco Church, near Kenton. Mr. Jones died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2004.

Mr. Jones was born July 25, 1911, in Dover, son of the late Moburne Summers and Lillie Mae Jones and stepson of the late John Jones.

He was educated in the Dover School District.

Mr. Jones worked as a machine operator, lumberjack, cemetery caretaker and was also employed by George & Lynch for several years before his illness.

In addition to his parents and stepfather, he was preceded in death by four stepchildren; and a sister, Mildred Burris.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of more than 63 years, Virginia Jones of Smyrna; a son and daughter-in-law, Avender Jr. and Karen Jones of Townsend; a daughter and a son-in-law, Mildred and Joseph Dolley of Smyrna; two sisters, Ray Demby of Wyoming and Bernice McClain of Dover; and a brother, Lloyd Jones of Wilmington.

Mr. Jones also is survived by eight grandchildren, Richard, Diane, Pam, Darryl, Eugene, DeLisa, Terrel, and a devoted granddaughter, Dawn; nine great-grandchildren; a dear niece, Barbara Nixon; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Arrangements were by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.

Burial was in Lockwood Cemetery, Hartly.
