Kevin Paul Collins, 46
LEWES - Kevin Paul Collins of Lewes, formerly of New Castle, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, in his home. He was 46.
Mr. Collins graduated from William Penn High School, New Castle, in 1974, and with honors from Wilmington College in 1984, with a criminal-justice degree.
He loved music and played several instruments and had a song patented. He also was a comedian and had preformed at the Comedy Cabaret.
While at Wilmington College, Mr. Collins held positions as technical director and stage manager in theater productions. He was active in the Delaware Wheelers and Special Olympics and held several records at the state level. He also was an active volunteer at the A.I. du Pont Hospital for Children, Wilmington, and at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital's Rehabilitation Department.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edmund "Monk" Collins.
He is survived by his mother, Cecilia B. "Sally" Collins; two aunts, Stella McLaughlin and Rose Ann Collins; two uncles, Harry McLaughlin and Bill Collins; and numerous cousins and friends.
Prayer services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Parsell Funeral Home and Crematorium, Atkins Lodge-Chapel, 1449 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call one hour earlier. Father William Mathesius will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Peters Cemetery, Pilottown Road, Lewes.

Alberta Victoria 'Bert' Frazier, 70
CHESTERTOWN, Md. - Alberta Victoria "Bert" Frazier of Chestertown died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Kent & Queen Anne's Hospital, Chestertown. She was 70.
Mrs. Frazier was born Dec. 2, 1932, in Kingstown, daughter of the late Louise Lewis and George Johnson.
She received her education in the Kent County public-school system.
Mrs. Frazier was employed by Vita Foods, Chestertown, and was a dedicated bus driver for the Kent County board of education for more than 20 years.
She loved to work in her yard and grew the most beautiful flowers. She was a fun-loving grandmother, sister, cousin and friend to many.
Mrs. Frazier was a faithful member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Church Hill.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Calvin Frazier; a son, Charles "Bill" Frazier; a devoted father and his wife, Charles and Sissy Wright of Chestertown; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister; three brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Janes United Methodist Church, Chestertown, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mary Agnes Jefferson, 79
LAUREL - Mary Agnes Jefferson of Laurel died of natural causes Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 79.
Mrs. Jefferson was born in Delmar, Md., daughter of the late Harvey and Lillie Crouch Sprague.
She attended Delmar High School, where she played on the field ball team.
Mrs. Jefferson drove a school bus serving Delmar for Wicomico County, Md., in the 1950s. She was most importantly a mother and homemaker. She was a foster mother to many.
She enjoyed singing and playing the piano.
Mrs. Jefferson was a proud member of Delmar (Md.) Wesleyan Church, where she was a member her whole life and worshipped regularly until her health failed. She was proud of the fact that her mother was one of the founding members of the church. She and her husband were very involved with scouting, and she was a den mother and coach for Cub Packs 174, 826 and 457. The packs and troops with which she was involved were very active in scouting. She won several scouting awards, one being the highest honor that she could receive, the Order of Merit. She also was very active in the Delmarva Horsemen's Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Theodore T. Jefferson Sr., in 1995; and by three sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Theodore Thomas Jefferson Jr. of Salisbury, Md., Dennis H. Jefferson Sr. of Laurel and Kenneth Wayne Jefferson of Texas; two daughters, Virginia Brumbley of Delmar, Del., and Wanda Dickerson of Delmar, Md.; 14 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Harvey F. Sprague of Fruitland, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Delmar Wesleyan Church, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Jim Hitch will officiate.
Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Robert Henry Logan Jr., 76
CAMDEN, S.C. - Robert Henry Logan Jr. of Camden died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2002, in Camden. He was 76.
Mr. Logan was born in Old Hickory, Tenn., a son of the late Robert H. and Adelene Tuller Logan.
He lived in Seaford, Del., as a youngster and graduated from Seaford High School in 1944. He later graduated from the University of Delaware.
Mr. Logan served in the U.S. Navy immediately after high school, during World War II.
Following his university graduation, he began a career with the DuPont Co., Wilmington, Del., and, after several transfers, worked in the DuPont facility in Camden for 30 years until retirement.
Mr. Logan was a member of Lyttleton Street United Methodist Church, the Lions Club and the Bulldog Club, and a former member of the Camden Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Records Logan; a daughter, Lynn L. Ammons of Camden; two sons, Robert H. "Trey" Logan III of West Columbia and Kenneth David Logan of Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Letitia Childs of Pensacola, Fla.; two brothers, Joseph C. Logan of Payson, Ariz., and Willis W. Logan of Lake Jackson, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 28 in Kornegay Funeral Home's Camden Chapel. The Rev. Frank Griffith officiated.
Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Camden.

Myrtle Ruth Prevette, 66
DELMAR - Myrtle Ruth Prevette of Delmar died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, Seaford. She was 66.
Mrs. Prevette was born in Pittsville, Md., daughter of the late George and Marie Baker.
She worked for the former Banks and Pusey Garment Co. as a seamstress. She also worked for Townsends Inc., Millsboro.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three sons, Henry Prevette, Danny Prevette and Jeffrey Allen Prevette.
She is survived by her husband, John Henry Prevette Jr. of Delmar; a son and daughter-in-law, Patrick and Donna Prevette of Moravian Falls, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Rayburn Reeves of Vernon, Ala.; two brothers and two sisters-in-law, William J. and Shirley Baker of Bridgeville and Thomas Edward and Irene Baker of Seaford; two sisters and two brothers-in-law, Maryellen and Richard Lewis of Brookville, Fla., and Lina and Bruce Taylor of Seaford; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Short Funeral Home, 13 E. Grove St., Delmar, where friends may call one hour earlier.
Burial will be in Line Cemetery, Delmar.
Evelyn M. Reynolds, 83
CHESWOLD - Evelyn M. Reynolds of Cheswold died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at the Silver Lake Center, Dover. She was 83.
Mrs. Reynolds was born Nov. 11, 1919, in Leipsic, daughter of the late William and Florence (Handsberry) Maclary.
She worked in the accounting department at Playtex for 35 years.
Mrs. Reynolds was a member of Leipsic Roby Methodist Church and attended Cheswold Methodist Church for many years. She also was a lifetime member of the Ladies' Auxiliary at the Cheswold Volunteer Fire Co.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Corbit "Buddy" Reynolds, in 1988.
She is survived by four sisters, Thelma M. Pardee, Ruth M. Pepper, Naomi J. Pepper and Marian M. Yerkie, all of Dover; five nephews; and nine nieces.
Remembrance services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover.

Leonard L. Smith, 77
VENICE, Fla. - Leonard L. Smith of Venice died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, in the Smyrna, Del., home of his daughter, surrounded by his family. He was 77.
Mr. Smith was born July 10, 1925, in Wyoming, Del., son of the late Vernie and Gladys Richards Smith.
He attended Caesar Rodney High School, Camden, Del.
Mr. Smith served as a radioman in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He had worked as a machine operator for Scott Paper, Dover, Del., and retired in 1987 after 15 years.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Christine Smith, on Sept. 24, 1999.
He is survived by four daughters and four sons-in-law, Patricia and William McCoy of Dover, Donna and Paul Foskey of Milton, Del., Marianne and Edward Shetzler of Smyrna and Lisa and Steve Tull of Magnolia, Del.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call one hour earlier. The Rev. Arthur Bollman will officiate.

Gilbert Lewis Shiroky, 73
FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Gilbert Lewis Shiroky of Federalsburg died of heart failure Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Mariner Health North Arundel Nursing Home, Glen Burnie. He was 73.
Mr. Shiroky was born July 14, 1927, in Severna Park, the son of the late John and Agnes Verba Shiroky.
After graduating from Glen Burnie High School in 1945, Mr. Shiroky joined the U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged in 1946 as a tech 4.
He worked for the U.S. Postal Service in Serverna Park and as a mechanic for Solo Cup in Baltimore. In 1976 he was transferred to the Federalsburg Solo Cup plant, where he worked until his retirement in 1990.
Mr. Shiroky was a member of the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Co., and was an ambulance driver.
He is survived by his beloved wife, whom he married on Dec. 29, 1960, Janet of Federalsburg; his beloved stepson, James William Stafford, and his wife, of Linthicum; and three beloved step-granddaughters, Kim, Janet and Beth.
Friends may call from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday at Williamson Funeral Home, 311 South Main St. in Federalsburg.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Maryland Veteran's Cemetery at Beulah, Hurlock. The Most Rev. Carl G. Purrenas-Smith OSB will officiate.
Janice Y. George, 69
CAMDEN - Janice Y. George of Camden died Friday, April 18, 2003, in University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore. She was 69.
Mrs. George was born in Thompsonville, daughter of the late William L. Beebe and Emma Lofland Paden.
She worked in the production Department of Playtex Family Products, Inc. for 34 years, retiring in 1999.
Mrs. George was an avid bowler and enjoyed crocheting.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Katherine Jarrell.
She is survived by three sons, Wayne George of Milford, Charles "Terry" George and wife Jacqueline of Milford and Gregory L. George of Magnolia; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen Y. and John Kitchen of Dover and Jan R. and Joseph M. Johnson of Englewood, Fla.; three grandchildren, Mariah A. Gebhart and husband Eric, Jody M. George and Joseph T. George; and a sister, Phyllis A. Pepper of New Castle.
Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Berry Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front Street, Milford, where friends may call two hours earlier.
Burial will be in Barratts Chapel, Frederica.
Thomas Gerald Skain Jr., 42
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Thomas Gerald Skain Jr. of Franklin Township died Sunday, May 26, 1996, in San Mateo, Calif. He had been missing since March of 1996. Because of the absence of identification, he had been listed as a "John Doe" until a recent match was made from a nationwide missing persons report that was filed two years ago. He was 42 at the time of his death.
Mr. Skain was born Jan. 3, 1954, in New Jersey, son of the late Thomas Gerald Sr. and Caroline Borden (Heirs) Skain.
He is survived by two daughters, Carly Skain of Glassboro and Rebecca Lee Burg of Westmont; his widow, Denise Skain of Franklinville; four sisters, Majorie Harmon of Dover, Del., Colleen Boyd of Barto, Pa., Caroline Martin of Mantua and Cheryl Skain of Woodbury Heights; an aunt and uncle, Larry and Helga Skain; three grandchildren, four nephews, five nieces and several cousins and in-laws.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Red Bank Battlefield on Hessian Avenue in National Park. A light luncheon will follow.

Joseph Bradford Baker, 73
GEORGETOWN - Joseph Bradford Baker of near Georgetown died of natural causes Saturday, April 21, 2001, in his home. He was 73.
Mr. Baker was born in Clintwood, Va., son of the late John Harrison Baker and Loucinda Sexton Baker.
He worked for Everett McGee Lumber Co. in Bridgeville for many years, and then, as a truck driver for Lykes Brothers in Brighton, Fla., for 12 years before retiring in 1989.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Barbara J. Loveland Baker; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Kay Frances Eskridge and John Eskridge and Mary Jo Nelson and Richard Nelson, all of Bridgeville, and Shannon R. Baker of the family home; a stepson, Garrett Mitchell of Gumboro; a brother, Charles E. Baker of Millsboro; three sisters, Rosella B. O'Day of Georgetown, Faye Koyanagi of Millsboro and Mary Elizabeth Price of Havre de Grace, Md.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Isabella M. Carey, 84
DOVER - Isabella M. Carey of Dover died Wednesday, April 18, 2001, in Churchman's Village Nursing Home in Newark. She was 84.
Ms. Carey was born Feb. 27, 1917, daughter of the late George Mosley and Lyndia Taylor.
She is survived by four brothers, James Taylor of Dover, John Mosley of Philadelphia, Herman Mosley of Felton and Benjamin Mosley of Virginia; a devoted niece, Gloria Gibson of Dover; and a host of other nieces, nephews and friends.
Service will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bennie Smith Funeral Home, 717 W. Division St., Dover, where friends may call home two hours prior to the service.
Burial will be Wednesday morning in Gibbs Memorial Cemetery in Camden.
James L. Godwin, 66
LAUREL - James L. Godwin of Laurel, and formerly of Georgetown, died of cancer Sunday, April 22, 2001, in his home. He was 66.
Mr. Godwin was born in Georgetown, son of the late Horace L. and Margaret C. Godwin.
Over the years, he did odd jobs for area farmers, and had also worked at Kent-Sussex Industries in Bridgeville and Milford.
He is survived by two sisters, Anna Godwin, with whom he lived, and Kate Godwin, both of Laurel; five brothers, Earl L. Godwin, Walter J. Godwin and William F. Godwin, all of Georgetown, Albert G. Godwin of Denver and Robert E. Godwin of Milford; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful Dalmatian, Pongo.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Georgetown.
Lawrence R. Melson, 78
BRIDGEVILLE - Lawrence R. Melson of Bridgeville died of a heart attack Friday, April 20, 2001, in his home. He was 78.
Mr. Melson was a well-known residential builder of fine homes and a lifelong resident of Bridgeville.
He was a member of Union United Methodist Church and the Bridgeville Historical Society, and a former member of the Bridgeville Kiwanis Club.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Louise Hopkins Melson of Bridgeville; a son, Brent Melson of Annapolis, Md.; two daughters, Marcia Melson of Arlington, Va., and Vicki Prewitt of Suffield, Conn.; a grandson, Matthew Lawrence Prewitt; and several nephews and nieces.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in Bridgeville Cemetery.

Gilbert Lewis Shiroky, 73
FEDERALSBURG, Md. - Gilbert Lewis Shiroky of Federalsburg died of heart failure Thursday, April 19, 2001, in Mariner Health North Arundel Nursing Home in Glen Burnie, Md. He was 73.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Janet Shiroky, of Federalsburg, whom he married Dec. 29, 1960; a stepson, James William Stafford, and stepdaughter-in-law, both of Linthicum; and three beloved step-granddaughters, Kim Stafford, Janet Stafford and Beth Stafford.

E. Viola Smith, 88
RIDGELY, Md. - E. Viola Smith of Ridgely died of natural causes Saturday, April 21, 2001, in Memorial Hospital at Easton, Easton. She was 88.
Miss Smith was born April 6, 1913, in Ridgely, daughter of the late Hile Mason and Minnie Downes Smith.
She attended Ridgely High School.
She was a lifetime resident of Ridgely. She worked for Ridgely Ice Cream Parlor after graduation, was a telephone operator in Ridgely for more than nine years, then worked for Rob Roy Shirt Factory for 16 years, and was a caregiver for 22 years.
Miss Smith was a member of Greensboro Baptist Church.
She is survived by two nieces, Margaret Rose Murphy of Frederica, Del., and Patricia Ellen James of Hurricane, W.Va.; two nephews, Paul Albert Smith and Robert Allen Smith, both of Easton; a grandniece, Teri Griffith of Denton; a grandnephew, Paul A. Smith Jr. of Easton; and many friends who thought of her as family.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, 106 W. Sunset Ave., Greensboro.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Hillsboro.
William J. Stephens, 69
RUSKIN, Fla. - William J. Stephens of Ruskin died Thursday, March 15, 2001, in his home, under the care of Life Path Hospice. He was 69.
Mr. Stephens was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He retired from American Cyanamid.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eulus M. Stephens, who had lived in Pierce; and his father-in-law, William S. Sutton.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Francis Sutton of Kennedyville, Md.; a son, Craig W. Stephens; two brothers, Eulus Stephens and Gerald Stephens; a sister, Alice Berquist; grandchildren; and his mother-in-law, Frances M. Sutton of Kennedyville.
Burial, at a later date, will be in Galena Cemetery, Galena, Md.
