Funeral services for Audrey Arnott, 73, of Dover were held Monday, Dec. 6, in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, Dover. Mrs. Arnott died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2004, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Arnott was born March 24, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Henry and Clotilda Thorne.
She retired in 1987 after 20 years as a secretary in the insurance and real estate industries.
She collected salt and pepper shakers and enjoyed photography. She loved to take pictures of her cats, some of which were published.
Mrs. Arnott was a member of the Modern Maturity Center in Dover and was a supporter of the Kent County SPCA. She cared for any stray or injured animals that came to her door.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Theodore Arnott, who died Feb. 6, 1999.
Mrs. Arnott is survived by two sons and their wives, John and Peggy Colligan of Felton and Douglas and Raylene Colligan of Seattle, Wash.; a daughter, Lori Milbrandt of Las Vegas; two brothers, Gerald Thorne of Old Bridge, N.J., and John Thorne of Englishtown, N.J.; five grandchildren, Brian Colligan and Meghan Colligan of Felton, Amanda Milbrandt, Daniel Milbrandt and Christopher Milbrandt, all of Las Vegas; and a great-granddaughter, Amber Milbrandt of Las Vegas.
Chief Master Sgt. Leonard John Bachetti, USAF (Ret.)
Graveside services for Leonard John Bachetti, 84, of Dover were held Monday, Dec. 6, in the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Bear. Mr. Bachetti died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in the VA Hospital, Elsmere.
Mr. Bachetti was born Jan. 11, 1920, in Newell, Pa., son of the late August and Guiditta Scaramucci Bachetti.
He graduated from the University of Delaware with a master’s degree in counseling.
A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Bachetti saw combat in World War II and the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Among his many honors, Mr. Bachetti received the Cheney Award and the Soldier’s Medal with one oak leaf cluster for heroism after repeatedly entering the burning wreck of a C-124 to rescue four trapped passengers.
During his 27-year Air Force career, Mr. Bachetti also earned the Bronze Star Medal, the Purple Heart Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster, the Good Conduct Medal and Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Presidential Unit Citation, the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the United Nations Service Medal. He graduated in 1958 among the top 10% of the first Military Air Transport Service NCO Academy class and was one of the first airmen to be promoted to the rank of senior master sergeant. He retired from the Air Force in 1969.
After his retirement, he worked as a car salesman from 1969 to 1975 for J.G. Smith. He also worked as a substitute teacher for the Capital School District and at Kent County Community School.
Mr. Bachetti was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post No. 2 in Dover, where he also served as commander at one time. He also was a member of the Sons of Italy and wrote their newsletter.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Frances Marie Chrystaline Bachetti of Dover; three daughters and their husbands, Gail and Nicholas Sellazzo of Dover, Patricia and John Schneider of Newburgh, N.Y., and Lenore and James Paradiso of Milwaukee; a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Richard Piper of Brownsville, Pa.; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Torbert Funeral Chapels, Dover.
John Royce Collins
A Celebration of Life service for John Royce Collins, 54, of Dover was held Tuesday, Dec. 7, in Torbert Funeral Chapel, Dover. Mr. Collins died of heart failure Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He had courageously battled multiple sclerosis since being diagnosed in 1991.
Mr. Collins was born June 15, 1950, in Nassawadox, Va., son of John Edward Collins of Atlantic, Va., and the late Jean Annis Collins.
He graduated from Atlantic High School, where he played varsity sports, including track, football, basketball and baseball, and was voted most athletic his senior year.
Mr. Collins was a Vietnam War veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972. He later worked as a bank loan officer.
He enjoyed playing the guitar and watching the History Channel on television. He was an avid body builder and had a great sense of humor.
Mr. Collins was a member of the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post No. 2 in Dover.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Norma Taylor Collins of Dover; two children, Kelly Collins and David P. Collins, both of Dover; a grandson, David W. Collins of Dover; his favorite cat, Sniper; his stepmother, Ellen Collins of Atlantic; and a sister, Vicki Betz of North Carolina.
Interment was in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
Floyd R. Comegys
Funeral services for Floyd R. Comegys, 85, of Camden were held Saturday, Dec. 4, in Pippin Funeral Home, Wyoming. Mr. Comegys died Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2004, in the home he had built and lived in since 1946, surrounded by his family.
Mr. Comegys was born Nov. 29, 1919, in Hartly, son of the late Levi and Clara Jarman Comegys.
He served his country proudly as a corporal in the U.S. Army during World War II from November 1941 until October 1945.
Mr. Comegys then worked for M.A. Hartnett lumber yard in Dover as a sales clerk, retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening and woodworking. He also was an antique clock collector and a builder of grandfather clocks. He enjoyed working on antique gas engines.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Comegys was preceded in death by his first wife, Delema Comegys, in 1974; and his second wife, Elizabeth Warren-Comegys, in 1998.
He is survived by his loving companion, Elizabeth Zott; two daughters and their husbands, Connie M. and John Fifer of Wyoming, and Carole L. and Terry Findley of Woodside; two grandchildren, Amy M. Penney and her husband, Bart, of Dover, and J.C. McPherson of Las Vegas; and two great-grandchildren, Tegan D. Penney and Miranda L. Penney, both of Dover.
Funeral services for William C. Confair, 71, of Dover, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 11, at the Minnig-Berger Funeral Home, Tremont, Pa., where friends may call two hours earlier. Mr. Confair died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Confair was born Jan. 22, 1933, in Tremont, son of the late Harry and Ida Confair.
He served in the U.S. Air Force for 23 years and was a veteran of Korea and Vietnam. After his military retirement in 1971, he worked at Proctor & Gamble for 18 years.
In his spare time, Mr. Confair enjoyed fishing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death in 2003 by his wife, Hazel; and a brother, Robert.
Mr. Confair is survived by a daughter and a son-in-law, Lisa and Keith Bump of Dover; two brothers, Harry Confair of Tremont and Richard Confair of Hershey, Pa.; a sister, Betty Androshik of Tremont; and a granddaughter, Tiffany Bump of Dover.
Funeral services for Doris K. DeLong, 66, of Felton, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 1522 S. DuPont Highway, Harrington, where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Bruce Tribbitt will officiate. Mrs. DeLong died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. DeLong was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Dover, daughter of the late Roy and Mamie Bodine.
She worked as a floor manager for General Clothing in Smyrna and in her spare time enjoyed sewing.
Mrs. DeLong loved spending time with her family and friends; she never met a stranger and was a friend to everyone. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose love and devotion to her family was unmatched. She especially enjoyed spoiling her children and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Delong is survived by her husband of 47 years, William “Bill” Delong Sr. of Felton; a son and daughter-in-law, William M. Jr. and Wanda DeLong of Felton; and two daughters and a son-in-law, Terri L. and Charles Deneumoustier of Dover and Robin DeLong and her companion, Michael W. Carlisle, both of Felton.
She also is survived by two brothers, Gary Bodine of Felton; and Gilbert Graves of Wyoming; three sisters, Margaret Faulkner of Magnolia; Gloria Carey of Magnolia; and Sylvia Lawson of Salisbury, Md.; six grandchildren, Karen, Renee, Tracy, Sarah, Erin and Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Noah and Lexus.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to either the American Lung Association, 1021 Gilpin Ave., Suite 202, Wilmington, DE 19806-3280 or to the American Heart Association, 1151 Walker Rd., Suite 202, Dover, DE 19904.

Funeral services for Albert D. Fountain, 46, of Philadelphia, formerly of Dover, were held Saturday, Dec. 4. in Julian Hawkins Funeral Home, Philadelphia. Mr. Fountain died of complications following surgery, Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, in Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia.
Mr. Fountain was the son of Robert and Marion Fountain of Dover.
Funeral services for Mandy Kaye Friedel, 24, of Dover will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8, in Fleischauer Funeral Home, West Market Street, Greenwood. Miss Friedel died of natural causes Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Miss Friedel was born Oct. 2, 1980, in Easton, Md., daughter of David K. and Peggy Beauchamp Friedel. She lived in Greenwood before moving to Dover.
She enjoyed drawing, painting and writing poetry. She also loved cats and spending time with her children and family.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Cherie Friedel; her paternal grandfather, Donald Friedel; her maternal grandfather, Bernard Beauchamp; a paternal great-grandmother, Viola Breeding; a maternal great-grandmother, Violet Rash; and a paternal great-great-grandmother, Lou Hatfield.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two children, Makayla Friedel of Greenwood and David Wheat of Dover; a paternal grandmother and step-grandfather, with whom she had been living, Nancy and Tom Smith of Dover; a maternal grandmother, Clemmie Beauchamp of Federalsburg, Md.; two sisters, Dawn and Ashley Friedel of Greenwood; and many aunts, uncles, nephews, and cousins.
