Antonio Ramos, 46, of Woodside died Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2005, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mr. Ramos was born Feb. 17, 1958, in Mercedes, Texas, a son of the late José and Angelita Ramos.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Raul Ramos.
He is survived by five sisters, Jane Ramos, Gloria Ramos, Jessie Ramos, Maria Ramos and Irma Ramos, all of Mercedes, Texas; three brothers, Rubin Ramos of Mercedes, Jose Ramos of Dover and Israel Ramos of Bridgeville; a sister-in-law, Joyce Ramos of Felton; and a devoted friend, Edna Cornish of Dover.
Arrangements were by the Minus Funeral Home, Dover.
Madeleine Seracino, 96, of Greenwood, formerly of Dover, died peacefully Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, in the Country Rest Home, Greenwood.
Mrs. Seracino was born Sept. 1, 1908, on the Mediterranean island of Malta, daughter of the late John and Marie Cefai.
She came to the United States in 1940 to care for her two brothers living in Astoria, N.Y. On April 26, 1941, she married Alfred C. Seracino and they lived in Elmhurst, N.Y., until June 1960 when they built a home in Flushing, N.Y.
Upon the death of her husband in 1972, Mrs. Seracino moved to Dover to live with her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemarie and Andrew Orlowsky. She later lived at Green Meadows in Dover and the Heritage in Milford, before moving to the Country Rest Home in Greenwood in 2002.
She had been a homemaker, who was especially fond of cooking and baking, and enjoyed sewing, embroidery, crocheting, gardening and shopping. She also enjoyed attending activities at the Officers’ Wives Club, tagging along with her daughter Rosemarie and friends.
Mrs. Seracino had attended the Church of the Holy Cross in Dover.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years on Nov. 11, 1972; five brothers; and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rosemarie and Andrew Orlowsky; a granddaughter and her husband, Tania and Douglas Potts of Townsend; and a host of extended family and friends.
Arrangements were by Michael J. Ambruso Funeral Director, Inc.
Interment was held privately in the Mount St. Mary’s Cemetery, Flushing.
Technical Sgt. Ernest N. Sexton Jr., USAF (Ret.)
Ernest N. Sexton Jr., 72, of Dover, formerly of Louisville, Ky., died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, in the home of his great-niece in Louisville.
Mr. Sexton was born June 12, 1932, in Owen County, Ky., son of the late Ernest N. Sr. and Loubell Shelton.
He was a 1951 graduate of Central High School in New Washington, Ind. and a 1982 graduate of Wesley College in Dover.
Mr. Sexton was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and served more than 20 years including tours in Japan and Thailand. He retired with the rank of technical sergeant.
Mr. Sexton had worked for CFS Cargo Inc. and the base commissary and Base Exchange at Dover Air Force Base.
He is survived by his wife, Yasuko Sexton of Dover; a son, William Sexton of Dover; a grandson, Mick Sexton of Silver Springs, Md.; a brother and sister-in-law, George and Marge Sexton of Charlestown, Ind.; two sisters, Kathleen Richmond of Louisville and Edna Mae Gorbandt of Charleston, Ind.; a great-niece and her husband, Nisha and Mark Howard; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held in Okolona funeral home of Arch L. Heady & Son, Louisville.
A memorial service for Joseph Somy, 86, of Frederica will be held Saturday, Feb. 5, in Rogers Funeral Home, 301 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call one hour before. Mr. Somy died Saturday, Jan. 29, 2005, in the Country Rest Home, Greenwood.
Mr. Somy was born on Dec. 27, 1918, in Bethlehem, Pa., son of the late Joseph Somy and Theresa Somy Auberman.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Mr. Somy worked for the Delaware State Highway Department as a real estate appraiser for 24 years, retiring in 1981.
He was a member of the Milford Elks Lodge 2401, Blue Hen VFW Post 6483 in Milford, the Camden Moose Lodge 203 and the American Legion Walter L. Fox Post No. 2 in Dover.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Somy was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Somy Jr.; and a sister, Margaret Sivak.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Irene Duvak Somy; three daughters and their husbands; Renie and Bob Larkin, Judi and Tim Krause and Susie and Spike Adams, all of Frederica; four grandchildren and the spouses of two, Veronica and Robert Rogers, Zac Adams, Erin and Steve Pieshala and Hilary Adams and her fiancé, Don Prouse; three great-grandchildren; and someone else that will greatly miss him, his dog, Suggie.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Country Rest Home, Inc., 12046 Sunset Lane, Greenwood, DE 19950.
Funeral services for William T. “Billy” Tatman, 57, of Dover were held Saturday, Jan. 29, in the chapel of Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover. Mr. Tatman died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2005, in his home.
Mr. Tatman was born Sept. 28, 1947, in Dover, son of the late Thomas and Medaline B. Tatman.
He attended Lockwood School in Hartly and Booker T. Washington and William Henry High School in Dover.
Mr. Tatman was self-employed as a devoted top-notch automobile mechanic. He was truly gifted with a natural ability to repair cars. He also was instrumental in passing his natural talents on to his brothers.
Mr. Tatman had four children with his companion, the late Eloise “Weezie” Nixon, and two children from previous relationships. He was well loved, honored and respected by all of his children. His loving aunt, Mae Margaret Bordley, was like a mother to him and he could always count on her to be there for him. She was very special and dear to him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Ms. Nixon, in 1988; two sons, Michael Terry Johnson and O.J. C. Tatman; his grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.
He is survived by three daughters, Barbara E. Nixon of Smyrna, Dorothy E. Scott and Madeline L. Tatman, both of Dover; a son, William T. Tatman of Dover; three brothers, James S. Tatman and Clarence D. Tatman, both of Dover, and Sylvester C. Tatman of Ariz.; and a sister, Edna L. Bythwood of Dover.
Mr. Tatman also is survived by two sisters-in-law, Josephine Tatman and Louvinia Tatman, both of Dover; four aunts, Mae Margaret Bordley, Delores Johnson and Martha Bordley, all of Dover, and Lavinia McPhatter of Buffalo, N.Y.; an uncle, Clarence D. Bordley of Wilmington; six grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Interment was in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Marydel, Md.
Marie Anna Tribbett
Funeral services for Marie Anna Tribbett, 76, of Harrington were held Thursday, Jan. 20 at the Berry Short Funeral Home, Felton. Mrs. Tribbett died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2005, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital, Milford.
Mrs. Tribbett was born Nov. 2, 1928, daughter of the late Earl and Carrie Greenhall Cain.
She was a loving mother and grandmother.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Stewart Tribbett; two sons, Johnny Tribbett and Richard Tribbett; and a granddaughter, Ann Tribbett.
Mrs. Tribbett is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Stewart and Faye Tribbett of Harrington, Francis and Gloria Tribbett of Dover, and James and Sarah Tribbett and Robert Tribbett, all of Harrington.
In addition, she is survived by four daughters and two sons-in-law, Marie and Butch Young of Felton, Rosalie Dill of Harrington, Dorothy Griffith of Bowers Beach and Brenda and Steve Corkell of Greensboro, Md.; 29 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Memorial services for Chester Young, 64, of Frederica were held Sunday, Jan. 30, in Harrington Baptist Church, Harrington. Mr. Young died peacefully Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2005, in his home.
Mr. Young retired after working for Perdue and Superfresh in Milford.
He enjoyed boxing and listening to Motown music, and was affiliated with Harrington Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Tammi A. Young of Harrington; two daughters, Marleena J. Young and Amanda J. Young, both of Harrington; four children from previous marriages, Chester Young Jr., Lamar Young, Nicole Collins and Elizabeth Mangis; a sister, Laura-Belle Oliver; a brother, Sylvester Young; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements were by Chandler Funeral Home, Wilmington.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Mary C. Amorella
Mary C. Amorella, 91, of Dover died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 2004, at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover.
Mrs. Amorella was born April 2, 1913, in Dragoni, Italy, daughter of the late Costanino and Rosaria Eillano Puerile.
She moved to the United States at the age of seven, and was raised in Bainbridge and Albany, N.Y., where she worked as a hairdresser for more than 25 years. She and her husband then ran an antique business for more than 12 years in the Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., area.
In their spare time, Mrs. Amorella and her husband took more than 30 cruises.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Amorella was preceded in death by three brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, John Errera, in 1991.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joseph P. Amorella of Dover; a daughter and son-in-law, Julia and Eugene Errera of Dover; three grandchildren, Doreen Kitchen of New Castle, Joseph Errera of Felton and Anita Wightman of Dover; and four great-grandchildren.
